A standalone. Although part of the Chicago Syndicate world, Black Hat Hacker is a complete standalone and can be enjoyed either with or without reading the rest of the series.
You don’t know me. But that’s only because I don’t want you to.
I have the most lucrative job in the country as a hacker in the notorious underworld. I’ve built entire systems and destroyed evidence for career advancement while stealing and exploiting data for personal gain. I’m the black hat hacker for the Chicago Syndicate and hold all the dirty secrets of the most powerful men in the U.S. in the palm of my hands, just a keystroke away from mass ruination.
However, no one knows my dirty secret, a decision from my past that’s just aching to blow up in my face and shatter my future. Especially when a certain wavy haired brunette begins to demand my attention with her odd ways and her carefree attitude.
She’s a woman who makes me go against everything I’ve ever believed. A woman whom I’m forbidden from having my usual one-night stand with, even if she was available. A woman whom I have to keep from getting herself killed, whether she likes it or not.
You don’t know me, but neither does she…yet.
A New Adult Mafia Romance.
From Soraya Naomi, Bestselling Author of For Fallon and For Luca. Novel Grounds Semi Annual Literary Awards 2014 winner of Best Breakout Novel For Fallon (Chicago Syndicate, #1).
Soraya Naomi is the author of the Chicago Syndicate mafia series. She writes provocative novels with a sinfully seductive blend of romance, suspense & men who love hard and at all costs. The Chicago Syndicate series - #1 Amazon Organized Crime series - has been translated into several languages.
Soraya has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Arts & Culture from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Apart from writing and indulging in chocolate pastries much too often, Soraya Naomi is also an avid reader. She has a passionate obsession with the written word and reads many genres but favors intense stories where the male character loves fiercely, without remorse or boundaries. She adores Historical Romances, New Adult, Dark Romances, Romantic Suspense, and PNR. And she welcomes all recommendations!
Her debut novel For Fallon (Chicago Syndicate, #1) was released on July 26, 2014. She's honored that For Fallon won “Best Breakout Novel 2014” in the Novel Grounds Semi Annual Literary Awards.
I've been a huge fan of Soraya Naomi and her Chicago Syndicate series ever since I read For Fallon and she's still pumping out greatness. As far as mafia romance stories go, BLACK HAT HACKER definitely held its own. I've been intrigued by Henry from when he was first introduced and I was ecstatic that he was getting a book too.
The author did a brilliant job with Henry's character development. Although I would have loved to get more of his background from his perspective, she gifted me with just enough information to make me get a good feel for him, to feel like I really got to know him. Henry was a foster kid and after a woman (Tara) took advantage of him, and for two years used, manipulated, and cheated on him, his perception of people became skewed and his ability to trust had all but disintegrated.
Then he meets Mary. A woman who seemed to debunk the truths he lived by. She wore her heart on her sleeve and her absolute trust in him was clear for all to see. Despite his infatuation with her, Henry holds on tightly to his secrets. It wasn't very hard considering he was a member of the Syndicate. He held secrets that could destroy the foundation of their relationship. Will Henry finally learn to put his trust in the right person? Can he give Mary her fair chance? Read the book to find out.
Okay, so I have to admit that Mary drove me freaking nuts in this book. NUTS!! She made dumb decisions, she was irrational, unreasonable and immature. But then I would repeatedly remind myself that she was only 20 years old and that seemed to calm my nerves. *wink*
Amidst the action and mayhem and utter drama synonymous with the Syndicate, love was found and a new relationship blossomed. I personally loved getting to see all of my favourites again (Luca, Fallon, Adriano, Cam, Logan and Rosalia). There was plenty of intense scenes (Henry was surprisingly a convincing cold blooded killer -- sweet!), tons of suspense, and the author didn't cut any corners when it came to the eroticism to be had between Henry and Mary. Carmine's story is next and I'm curious as to how the heroine will tame the manwhore.
Release Date: March 28, 2017 Genre: Mafia Romance POV: Dual - 1st person Steam: 4 out of 5 Book Type: Standalone - Book 6 of the Chicago Syndicate series
I couldn't put this book down and haven't really read anything like this before. The mix between steam, action, flow, and mystery is so intriguing without overshading the romance, which is what the story is all about. An alpha hacker, a young man who has become a high ranking member, has an off the charts hot friendship with the boss' sister. Her characters are well-developed yet again with some quirky qualities that make them very loveable.
From page one, sparks fly, the plot thickens fast, and the sex scenes are amazingly well-written - so are the emotional scenes, and a few are heartbreakingly beautiful. It's refreshing to read a new kind of romance with an alpha hacker, and I love how the author weaves and unravels her plot like a puzzle!
What a fantastic book! The alpha hacker is intelligent and dangerous and oh so sexy. He's protective and a badass hacker with a huge secret!!! The way the hero and heroine interact is witty and hot and angsty at the same time because so much is happening around them, and I feel as if I live through it. Scenes play out vividly in my head because of the author's intriguing and intricate story-telling. Although the characters are well-developed, with funny traits, and there's a lot going on in the story, it wasn't confusing. These books should be a TV-show!
The build up and anticipation of what's to come is addictive. The storyline is a puzzle with many twists and an original plot, especially for romance. Forces keep them apart, resulting in some gut wrenching scenes that had me crying. Each installment of this series has an unpredictable storyline and an "OMG" moment. That's exactly what I want in mafia romances.
There are many clues that I only discovered when I went back to re-read passages after the plot was revealed. This author is very skilled in plotting her stories together so that every scene, action, or reaction is a clue of what's going to happen.
By the way, the steamy scenes are very enticing, even when there's no sex. Their first kiss has to be one of the sexiest first kisses I've ever read.
Give this a try if you want a steamy mafia romance with a different kind of alpha hero and is engaging throughout without taking the focus away from the romance at any moment. Plus the guy on the cover is just as hot as Henry is in the book...
This is my first book by Soraya and I was not disappointed. This is a book about Mary, who is the sister to the main men in the Chicago Syndicate and Henry who is not only the hacker but the 5th of the top five men in the Chicago Syndicate. Mary and Henry have an unusual friendship that is filled with sexual tension and innuendos. Mary starts to develop feelings for Henry but he keeps shutting her out and pulling away. Henry is trying to do everything in his power to keep her safe but it seems that things are out to keep them apart. This is a story filled with mystery and intrigued and will have you excited as to see what will be happening next. I could not put this book down as the sex scenes were off the hinges, hot and the anticipation as to what was going to be happening next was just too much! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was very deeply engrossed in it. I highly recommend reading it even as a stand alone but I know that I will be doing back to read the beginning of this series and I am excited for Carmine’s story next. Some advice, make sure to keep some ice cream handy!
Reviewed by Tamara from Kinky Kittens Book Blog. I received a copy of Black Hat Hacker from Soraya Naomi in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.
Black Hat Hacker is a complete standalone from the Chicago Syndicate world--Soraya did a great job of making it where you won't be lost if you haven't read any of the other books in the series--but if you have happened to read the other books, it's an awesome, AWESOME addition to the series!
There's lots of action, romance, and suspense as Mary and Henry, a friends-to-lovers couple, are absolutely put through the wringer, and I have to mention that this book has two heart-wrenching scenes that are so well written that they just blew my mind! I NEVER get emotional when I read books, but this time, the angst brought the tears. And as always, Soraya can flat-out write a super hot (SUPER creative!) sex scene like no one else. SO hot that even those that don't actually have any sex in them will leave you steamy! And if you've ever read any of Soraya's books before, you know, of course, there's her trademark twist that you'll never see coming!
So even if you haven't read any of the other book in the series, don't let that deter you (but I still suggest reading the series just because it's so GREAT!) I highly recommend this because they keep getting better and better!
Wow! Soraya is true to her style of mafia men and did not disappoint with her 6th book. Although it's part of the series it can be read as a complete standalone. It's a good build up with a lot of action as you read on. It was very hard to put down.
Absolutely loved Black Hat Hacker! From the title all the way through till the very end! Henry is a sexy hacker trying to fit in the role he has in Chicago Mafia. But deeper than that he wants to feel and belong somewhere. He's a dominant, protective loyal man. He thinks he can't love and doesn't want a real relationship because of a past bad experience. Mary is a beautiful sassy young lady. She has the biggest heart and because of that she finds herself in unsafe situations. She longs for a perfect love like the people around her have. Henry and Mary are so awesome together! Their banter and their flirtation is so adorable. Their connection is heartwarming. But due to both Henry and Mary being a part of The Syndicate there's always bound to be trouble and trouble finds them both. Read Black Hat Hacker and live the love story of Henry and Mary and everything they have to go through to find their HEA.
I love Soraya and her Chicago Syndicate series. Soraya really has this genre of mafia romances down to science - she excels at writing these books. And Black Hat Hacker just adds to her awesome collection.
Black Hat Hacker can be read as a standalone and be just as amazing. We met Henry is previous books but we never knew much about him other than he's an exceptional hacker. Mary is the sister of Adriano and Carmine but isn't much involved in the syndicate business. She's enrolled in college but has a soft spot for the mistreatment of animals and tends to go lone wolf when it comes to saving them. Which creates some problems for her brothers as they like to keep track of her and keep her safe.
Henry and Mary tango around the line of friendship. They feel a pull to one another but try to keep things platonic. Yea - that just isn't happening for very long. When these two finally do give in to another, WOW!! Some of those scenes that Soraya wrote - DAYUM!!!! However, it wasn't just the intimate scenes that were setting things on fire. There was some messy mafia business going down that added to the drama between Henry and Mary.
Soraya does a fantastic job of intertwining and twisting everything together. I was on the edge of my seat reading this, needing to know where this story was going to go. And I was not disappointed one time. I love this world she has created and I love these characters as if they were my own mafia family.
Another great book in this series, which remember, you can read as a standalone. Now bring me Carmine's story!!!!
Let me start with the fact that I have been a fan of this series since the first book. With each one it seems like I use the same line - "This is my favorite one of the series so far!" Well, nothing has changed. Soraya Naomi's writing and character development just continues to improve. She knows just how to keep the story flowing you the reader hooked. All the twists and turns will leave you gasping and eager to know what happens next. I stayed up way too late finishing this one up! While this is the 6th book in the Chicago Syndicate series, it can be read as a standalone. Do I personally recommend you reading the previous books first? Yes. Simply because you will understand the characters and the world they live in better if you do. Again, I absolutely love this series and all of the characters that go with it!
This has a different feel to it than the others in the series as you could read this one as a standalone. Henry is a relatively new member of the syndicate and he's a bit of a mystery an intriguing mystery. He's the hacker the computer guy but he's no geeky nerd, he's just as at home with a gun as he is behind a computer. Mary and Henry have chemistry in spades but their relationship is full of ups and downs. Henry has a big secret that the syndicate can't find out about, if Mary finds out they will never be together. I really enjoyed the story there is drama it's the Mafia after all but this book is more about the budding relationship between the two. A great addition to the series.
Awesome, AWESOME Soraya another brilliant addition to the series, Mary and Henry story just had so many twist and turns in it, had me grip to find out how it would all end, have no fear you get no spoilers here, I would recommend this book to everyone plus the rest of the books in the series.

This is book 6 in the Chicago Syndicate series. That being said it is the first that I have read. Did I fell the need to have read the other five novels first? No, I found I was able to figure it all out as I went. There were plenty of details given about the different characters that you were able to following along. I will go back now and read the other five though. I crave to find out more about the head men of the Chicago Syndicate.
I loved the story of Henry and Mary. There was just so much there. They went from being friends, who had a spark to something more. Henry is the fifth in command with the Chicago Syndicate. He is also their resident Black Hat Hacker. There is an unexpected skeleton or two in his closet that make you understand why he is so against being in a relationship. It is this reasons why you see him push Mary away time and time again. Mary is the feisty, beautiful, kind hearted sister of the one number and number two men of the mafia in which Henry is involved in. Even though you find her in a relationship when this novel begins you can tell that her feelings for Henry run deep. Mary also seems to keep finding herself in some not so great situations.
I found this novel to be a page turn with many twists and turns. I was unable to figure out what was about to happen next. I find myself wondering about the other members of the Chicago Syndicate so I must go back and read the others while I await the next installment into their lives. It was my first by certainly not my last read by Soraya Namoi!
Wow!!! This book is truly amazing! It grabs you from the beginning and just won't let go! Twists and turns. Rollercoater ride full of emotions. A very in depth of characters and details. The plot was fabulous! Alpha Henry, a black hat hacker, is not only sexy as hell but has a tremendous secret. One that could cost him the woman he loves as well as his death by the Chicago Syndicate that he works for. He's very protective over his loved ones. Fiesty Mary is the little sister of Adriano, the head of the Chicago Syndicate. All she wants is to find love. Trouble does seem to find her. Murder, mystery, deceit, betrayal, love and hot sex. What more could a lady ask for? Even though this can be a standalone, I'm intrigued enough to want to read the entire series. Bravo!! A fabulous book!!! One of my new favorit authors. I'm volunteering an honest review for an advance reader's copy.
Once again, the next book in this series is a hit! Henry and Mary are full of passion, adventure and danger at every turn. The chaos is what makes this a great book. It is part of a series, but it can be read alone. Suspense throughout! Book was gifted to me.
This book was AMAZING. I've wondered about Henry from the other books in this series. He will not disappoint. Mary is his boss's little sister and his "friend". The sparks fly when Mary and Henry are together! I couldn't put this book down!
Ahh yes! Let me begin by saying I did the happy dance while waiting in the school pick-up line when I got this book!! Oh how I love them, yes it may mean I have no life and I am sad- EH that's ok, as long as amazing authors such as Soraya Naomi keep writing me these fantastic books I am happy to stay in fiction land! Wow, where do I start? The author IMO did an excellent job giving this standalone enough detail, for those who have not been fortunate enough to read previous books to understand the other characters roles. Also, her attention to detail is one I admire, it's great to read books that I actually get lost into- I can really visualize the characters, places, things. I don't want to give away much about the storyline, I believe this is one you just need to dive head first into. Henry and Mary have such dynamic, turbulent story- This mafia tale is full of angsty emotion, yet suspenseful, with a twist of humor that will leave you feeling like you know these characters personally. Sexiness with an alpha twist oozed throughout the pages. This was a read in one sitting book for me. I couldn't go about the rest of my day not knowing how Mary and Henry worked through the craziness, or how many dogs they ended up with! I highly suggest this book and the others in this magnificent series. I was lucky enough to read an advanced readers copy of this book voluntarily
Five Fabulous Stars! This is the sixth book in the Chicago Syndicate Series and be read as a stand-alone novel. Henry is fifth in command with the Chicago Syndicate and he is also the resident Black Hat Hacker. Mary is the sister of the number one and number two men in the Chicago Syndicate and she is a beautiful, kind-hearted woman. Mary and Henry are good friends but there is a spark between them of something more. Henry would like more then a friendship with Mary but he keeps pushing her away. When Mary and Henry finally give in to something more than a friendship there is constant drama going on with the mafia business that seems to interfere. Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book! The author writes a well-written story that is full of twists and turns, suspense, plenty of emotions and sexiness. I definitely will go back and read the other five books in the series! I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and felt all their emotions as they went through the book. I highly recommend this book and look forward to where the author will go next!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.
I haven't read any books by Soraya Naomi before, so this was a real surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, even though I had never read any of the previous Chicago Syndicate stories. Ms Naomi wrote this book in such a way that it can be easily read as a standalone. Her descriptions and details allow for a new reader to follow what has previously occurred and get stuck into the current story. To me, that's a sign of good writing, as you are not "forced" to read the earlier books in the series.
I enjoyed Mary and Henry's story. Mainly because it was one that had started with a simple friendship tha developed into more. Even though both weren't in a position to have a relationship, you could feel that the desire was there. Henry felt that he was not in the position to have a relationship and especially with Mary, because of his past and who she was related to.
Not only was the story a romance, but there were many twists and turns throughout that kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. I love the plotline, it drew me in and continued to hold me with all the intricate details that were constantly added.
I will definitely be looking up and reading the previous five books in this series. Soraya Naomi has won another fan here.

OMG! OMG! OMG! I cannot get enough of The Chicago Syndicate! These men are HOT, HOT, HOT! I don't know how Soraya does it, but boy she writes the best mafia men and women with amazing storylines that keep you turning pages!!! Her writing has you feeling it all! There are so many twist and turns you never see coming and this story was full of them.
This book is a standalone, but having read them all I got to see how much Henry has grown. He is now much more vocal, a rising member in the Syndicate and very protective of those around him. Mary's brothers are the top men in the Chicago Syndicate and Henry's bosses. She loves hard with her whole heart and soul. She's kind and understanding but also knows the lifestyle of the mafia. Once these two meet, there is a connect of more than friendship. Henry and Mary's story is full of family, friends, commitment issues, secrets, scorching hot love scenes and surprises that will blow you away!!!
Everyone needs to read The Chicago Syndicate!!!!

I have loved Soraya's books for a long time. I didn't think anyone would come to close to my favorite book boyfriend of her series (Luca)but BOY does Henry come close.
Henry was a foster kid who didn't have the easiest life growing up. After being taken advantage of by a woman, Henry decided he'd rather be with computers than people. He has a hard time trusting people and believing in good things, mainly love. He's a hard worker though and he has done a great job working his way up through the Syndicate. Then he meets Mary.
Mary is a woman full of love and life. She has a big family surrounding her and has a heart of gold. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is the exact opposite of Henry. But you know what they say... opposites attract!
Henry likes control and Mary is a bit impulsive but can these two get past their differences and give love a try? This book, like all of Soraya's is well written and you get a great story of finding love when you least expect it.
Loved it! I have read all the other books in the Chicago Syndicate and could not wait to finally read the Hackers story. I was surprised of his background and and the twist that came with..dont want to give any spoilers. I wasn't sure how i felt about Mary at first she was a little annoying, but she proved to be a strong h. I like seeing how Henry grew as a person and Mobs next head guy. Its always nice also reading what the others form the series was up to. I know it can be read as a standalone but i would suggest to read the series.. Cant wait to see who gets the next book.. hopefully Carmine.. I love this series and recommend to anyone who loves to read Hot Alpha Men and steamy sex!!
I have found my new book boyfriend!!! Henry is Black Hat Hacker for the Syndicate. He's jaded and goes through alot of woman. But has never promised them anything. Then he meets the Boss's little sister Mary and his life as he knows it changes, and he's not sure why. Mary has a way of getting into trouble for the right reasons and Henry's always there to bail her out even when she doesn't want him to. Through there friendship something grows between them. But there are forces against them. Will they fight to keep what they have or let other things get in their way. Henry Loves the only way he knows how Hard..Even if he doesn't realize what this emotion is. Every woman deserves to be loved like he loves...
Absolutely loved this book. It's the first Chicago Syndicate book I've read but that didn't matter. I didn't feel like I was missing anything at all other than wanting to go back and read the others hoping they are half as good as this was. There was plenty of action and suspense to keep me interested. Some twists I didn't see coming. Henry and Mary were perfect for each other. The easy friendship they shared and the push and pull they had with each other was great. I definitely recommend this book.
Henry and Mary's story...so much continues within the syndicate...don't want to give any spoilers but our questions are answered and wow just wow Henry and Mary's story goes deep...very very deep..and just when you think you have it figured out you get blasted out of left field and realize there's so much you are still learning...as alwAys can't wait for more!
I received this as an ARC...And as always Soraya did NOT disappoint!! An amazing author. Couple scenes had me in a major panic! I will not spoil the fun. Can read alone but I suggest reading them All. I love this series and have reread them several times. I wish I could give a 10 star rating!!!!
Soraya has done it again. I never can put her books down. Henry is so darn sexy. I love this Chicago Syndicate series. I can't wait for the next one. No spoilers here...that means you have to go read this one too for yourself!
I read a lot, and these past few weeks I have been in a never ending book funk! Until Black Hat Hacker was placed on my lap. My eyes were glued to the pages, my heart was racing, it felt as if I was watching a movie!
Black Hat Hacker was a hot thrilling suspenseful novel! Henry was the guy that always kept to himself, hiding his inner demons of his past. While working with Adriano, his boss. He sets sites on his loving sister Mary.
" I regret a lot in my life but no meeting you. Even though"-he inhales a deep breath-"you've gotten me into some tricky situations."
At the very beginning sparks fly, but she is the boss's sister.... Who is off limits. So an unbreakable bond is formed. But soon feelings are brought into the game. Mary has had feelings for a very long time, but he treats her a sister would. He hides behind his mask to stow away the mixed feelings he has for Mary.
"This is my version of love, Mary. I take risks and jeopardize everything. I bent over back words to keep your world unharmed, but I failed."
Soon those secrets that Henry had fought tooth and nail to hide from the Syndicate are out in the open! The lies, deceit, and corruption are all out in the open. The danger has put the one person he craves more than life itself at risk!
Henry has to finally come to terms with his feelings for Mary. That he can love again.
Soraya Naomi has outdone herself! Henry was a total alpha male, who knew how to hack with the back of his thumb. With his extraordinary skills with the computer, he is in the high ranks of the Syndicate. But one look at Mary he was done for. She is his downfall or rather his upbringing of finally opening up to the fact that love is not a weakness.
AMAZING! Soraya is a new to me author, and this is the first book I have read of hers.. This book is part of a series, but it can be read as a stand alone. I wasn't lost while reading this book, and I can say that I WILL be buying and reading the rest of the series. The story is as romantic as a mafia story can be, I couldn't put the book down and read it within a day, which was quite a feat as it is a long book - needless to say I didn't get much adulting done. I absolutely loved the characters, and enjoyed reading their journey to happiness, and I can't wait for the next book to be released.
Love love loved this book! If you're looking for suspense, drama and holy hotness then this book is for you. Henry is such a sweet bad ass Black Hat Hacker that I was drawn to immediately. He has secrets that slowly make their way out as you get further into the story and I like having the point of view of both him as well as Mary. Who's Mary you ask? well she is the sister of the leaders of the a Chicago Syndicate and yeah she has feelings for Henry but tries to fight them as much as possible. This book will have you gasping in shock at some events and then aching for more with others. Yes this is a standalone but I am undoubtedly going to grab the rest of this series because it's oh so good. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
