The Tapeworm is a sinister thing that lurks in the darkest corners of the gut. In this amusing tale, our creepy creature is a demanding and gluttonous fiend who finally loses its head over the tasty treats that feed its enormous appetite!

"I enjoy writing about the things I am acquainted with and have experienced first-hand. That knowledge spans nearly 40 years and those friends and colorful characters I have discovered in both in my personal, creative and professional life have loosely crossed into the fictional path of my writings. They grow and evolve into the characters I hope my readers will also come to love or despise in much the same way as I do."

The Tapeworm from A Series of Ghastly Things by Nicholas A. price is so cringe worthy and hideous, it's a SUPERB book for all children that revel in this type of story telling. If your children enjoy macabre but humorous books like The Twits or The Witches both by Roald Dahl, they will LOVE this book! The Tapeworm itself is hilarious, demanding and food obsessed. His/her host (Ghastly Fact: did you know that Tapeworms are not male or female?) has to put up with it's ghastly behavior as it lurks around waiting for it's daily meals and treats. It appears to have a list of favorite dishes and has no qualms consuming anything and everything! The children's faces and sniggers were worth the purchase and my Q&A afterwards was really lively and educational to see what parts of the book the children loved. Some children even looked up other interesting facts in addition to the one's Mr. Price provides at the end of the story. We read the book as group twice and no doubt it will be continue to have regular revisits in the future. A really great book!
I never knew that a tapeworm was capable of not only having a personality but also the ability to make me laugh and thanks to Nicholas A. Price, the namesake of this glorious book certainly does both. I found myself both cringing and laughing at the same time (and I love books that elicit that reaction from me). In this adventure the greedy little tapeworm developes a taste for the finer foods of life, at the expense of his unlucky host, which results in the tapeworm getting slightly big-headed (in more ways than one), and as with the previous books I've read of Mr Price's, I was completely suprised by the conclusion of this Ghastly Book (which is the second in the series). I really loved Gigi Art's illustrations, the details are exquisite and so original. I highly recommend this book to anyone who isn't afraid to learn something new, but I suggest that you don't read it at the dinner table.
