At the end of a busy day at the Antique Mine, Sadie Speers tallies her sales and sets down her deposit bag as a few latecomers trickle in. She stops for a moment to help Luz owner of Arbuckle's, the coffee shop next door, as she waits for the stragglers to finish their browsing. But when everyone leaves, she discovers the bag has disappeared! Who stole it? And what was that strange sound she heard after they had all left? Also Sadie is restoring an old antique armoire for a customer and finds a false bottom in one of the drawers that holds a carefully wrapped secret. Another mystery for Sadie to follow.
Sadie sets her bank bag down and waits on a last minute customer, when she turns around the money is gone. she also finds a picture of a woman with her infant after death from the 1800’s. She sets out to find her money and who the baby and woman are. Interesting how things are put together.
#20 in the mysteries of Silver Peak (small folksy town in the Colorado Rockies) mystery series featuring 60 something Antique Mine store owner Sadie Speers.
Opens on the first Thursday of September with Sadie closing up and putting her deposit bag down to deal with a few latecomers. Only after they leave does she discover the bag has disappeared and wonders who stole it or if she misplaced it in the locked store? She heard a shuffling noise, but finds no one in the store. She also has a second mystery on hand when she discovers a false bottom in an old antique armoire she was restoring with a carefully wrapped secret inside.
This is a mild Christain themed book with no violence, swearing, etc. Just a mystery involving a group of good people.
Sadie has a really good day at the store and just before closing the store she puts it on the counter. Then a family comes in with three children, as they are browsing around the store Sadie talks to Luz and her husband who have a coffee shop next door. After everyone leaves she notices that the deposit bag is gone. While Sadie is trying to figure out where the bag went to, she starts restoring an antique armoire where she finds a letter, an old photograph, and a christening gown. Sadie finds the initials E. M. and 1899 on the letter. She decides to find out what she can about who wrote the letter, and also, who took her deposit bag. Also, Sadie is on the trail on who left the baby blankets at her shop for a young widowed mother who just had a baby. Enjoy.
I absolutely loved this book. Sadie is probably my favorite female sleuth and I just love the Christian perspective in these books. I love seeing a woman devoted to the Lord as she tries to uncover mysteries. She was very graceful and forgiving to the girl who stole her money. She could have easily had the girl locked up, but she gave her a second chance and showed her the love of Jesus by doing that. These books always put me in the best of moods and take me away to a place where people are good and connected and loving to one another.

This time Sadie investigates a 100+ year old mystery--who put the beautifully tatted christening gown inside the armoire? Who stole Sadie's bank deposit bag and what will she do about the wounded bobcat kitten that is healing on her front porch? Book 20 of the Silver Peak series is just as good as Book 1.
This is the 20th book in the Mysteries of Silver Peak Series. Sadie's full bank deposit bag goes missing & she finds an heirloom in an armoire she is restoring. She sets out to solve both.
