Can you drive a Hummer to pick up your welfare check, or text your parole officer asking for illegal drugs? Unfortunately, these criminals did.
While researching her other true crime books, Synova was indicated with seriously stupid criminal stories. She collected these humorous stories and shared them with her readers. Enjoy true crime at it's most hilarious level.
I admit I have this thing for this type of book. I love reading about people doing stupid things. Man, I have sure done enough of them. And when its criminals (or lawyers as my last "seriously stupid" read was), one can rest assured, you will always get a good laugh.
So this one is a bit to short for my taste. But still funny. Very very funny.
Some of the goodies contained in this book:
A guy who robbed a convenience store, not realizing a cop was on line directly behind him.
A woman who called the cops to complain that her drug supplier was late getting to her house.
A guy who tried to pass a cucumber of as a gun.
The brothers who rode their dirt bike through their local Walmart wearing only capes, underwear and helmets.
A man advertises the use of his apartment for the weekend..and includes the selling point that it is available with full Meth lab.
A woman attempts to pay at an Applebee's with counterfeit money but gets caught after successfully pulling off the con job by accidentally leaving her personal cell phone on the table.
One of my faves.. a man is arrested after making internet comments on his own "wanted" page. Apparently he'd never heard of IP tracking.
That doesn't even cover half. Read em all! Love this stuff and you really just can't make it up!.
Just when you think people can't get any stupider, they do. This is like a little mini Darwin Awards for the criminal that can't help but get themselves caught, including ones that try robberies when police are present to those that think sharpies make for good camouflage. My faith in humanity has not been restored but my faith in the stupidity of humanity has been. Cantrell even provides links to the pages and YouTube videos so you can enjoy these stories in all their glory, an excellent idea I must say.
The book is fun and it is also great to read about other people being stupid. This is a short read, that is a collection of stories the author put together of crimes committed by those who didn't think before the deed was done. The author had to do a bit of research in gathering the crimes, so kudos for that and the writing is a concise retelling, each is short and brings a chuckle or too.
This was one of those books that I had downloaded to my Kindle most likely due to the true crime content as I also enjoy hearing about these people who think they are outside the law but also since I like to gloat shamefully so over those who I consider willfully stupid. Voluntary stupidity is an pet peeve to me while half the time I wonder whether these people are truly this way or whether for whatever advantage that only they can perceive they hold tightly to this concept as a cover-up for their true selves.
Anyway this particular book is a short read and more in a sense a brief summarizing account of twenty people who need to check their IQs before coming up with criminal plans. I do have some pity on some of these people and wish that the author had made a split between the fact that some of them were impaired due to alcohol and drug impairment versus those that just seemed to lack the higher necessary IQ of the human species although in the end it might not truly matter.
All in all it was most definitely a quick read and there were some stories that were included that really did have us laughing with the actions and outcomes. Most definitely would recommend this to those who like true crime but not the massive novelization that most formats take to give the read the whole story behind the events that are being narrated.
Short, simple, and sweet. This is just a compilation of short funny stories that revolve around stupid criminals. This was a really short read and I expected a bit more in-depth dive into the cases but I also enjoyed how short it was since it was entertaining.
I loved it! I howled with laughter! I read it while at the races with my family and I was laughing so much, people were giving me strange looks. I think I even talked my 9 year old in to reading it and he hates to read for pleasure. It made me want to search online for more stupid criminal stories like those in this book.
You know those popups online that tempt you with 20 stupid criminal stories? This is just like that, except with illustrations instead of pictures, and no ads! Seriously, NO ADS. I read it twice in sheer delight at not being pushed towards items I'd never purchase.
Granted, it's very brief and leaves you wanting more stories, but what's there is decent and entertaining. Cautionary tales for what not to do are always helpful.
Book is a big word for something that take 10 minutes to read, I would call it more a sampler or a wink (I’m inventing genres). There’s 20 crimes and about 2 or 3 paragraphs for each and if you are fans of this sort of stories they will sound familiar. It’s short and still enjoyable but there’s not enough details to really get into it.
Was seriously funny yet boring..was nothing to the short stories. more detail and deliberation on the subject would have been better then to have to go to referred sites to get the full extent of the story. Was a free book so no biggie, but would not purchase this book otherwise. Overall it was okay only because it was true.
It is great to be able to laugh at the foibles of others. However, these are more serious than mere foibles. The police got the last laugh because they took these folks who were under-served by their brains to jail.
I thought the amount of material was a tad skimpy (20 short stories). Otherwise, it was a great way to get a chuckle.
We know there are stupid people in the world, right? Some of them are stupid enough to believe they are master criminals. So I guess you can be locked up for being stupid.
Guy leads cops on chase--even slower than OJ! Full links to the stories enclosed. Hilarious! I would have laughed my ass off, but they'd have kicked me out of the library.....
This is a entertaining little book. It has 20 very short stories about what you can only call stupid criminal's. The whole book can be read in about 20 minutes so pick it up for a quick read and a little chuckle.
Great for a few laughs! I hope I can remember some to repeat at parties. Just remember....they breed. Thanks to author, Synova Cantrell, for taking the time and effort to put this book together with the proper annotations.
I read this book while in the waiting room of my dentist. I was nervous and this book took my mind off of everything for the moment. It is funny and a short read. Perfect for times when you need a laugh and don't have too much time to read!
I'm always greatly amused by stupid criminal stories, so naturally I found myself attracted to an e-book that compiled said stories into one volume. I was somewhat disappointed when said e-book turned out to be insanely short -- it contains twenty stories, but each story is only a couple of paragraphs -- but I still found myself chuckling over the various antics within. A criminal who drives a stolen Hummer to pick up their welfare check, a couple of idiots who advertise their meth lab on AirBnb, an idiot who has to walk right by a uniformed police officer to rob a store... time and again people prove that they're just not fit for a career as a criminal mastermind.
Good for a quick read (and I mean quick -- I was done with this book in less than half an hour), but if you want more stupid criminal stories, you're probably better off going for a longer volume or just browsing the Internet.
Amusing, but extremely short. It took me about 15 minutes to read. It had my attention though. My only complaint was that the title of each section gave away the "punchline" of each crime. It was very clean and I really appreciated that.
Very short book with paragraph-long entries about each crime.
I wasn't expecting much out of this book, and my expectations were met. This is a very brief e-book with paragraph-long summaries of the crimes. The book includes links to the original source material.
I laughed at some of these stories in the book. Seriously stupid bizarre shocking events that makes no sense to others can be used as a laugh, however I wouldn't want to fo anything like this book suggests!
This is a shake your head in disbelief book full of incredibly stupid people. It has laugh after laugh explaining what people do! Unbelievable stunts pulled by stupid people.
This was a short read. A little funny and a little interesting. There are a few things that mention improper behaviour but nothing that bad. Two bad words, other wise it is just a short funny read about stupid criminals. I liked it.
Just when you think you have heard and seen it all. I knew criminals make thoughtless, foolish, utterly stupid mistakes, but come on. A woman drives a stolen vehicle to police to see it is stolen. Haha.
Thanks for sharing the laughs at the expense of these funny criminals! I even looked up the tighty whitey wearing dirt biker in Walmart, it didn't surprise me that no one called the cops.
This book is very short and funny. It just goes to show that a criminals worst enemy is theirself. So if you want a few laughs and have a few minutes to spare check out this book.
I finished in like ten minutes. It was something free I downloaded for my kindle. It says it's a book but it's very short. I like that there are sources. I wish I could read a larger more flesh out book like this.
