At fifteen years old, Abigail Costa might not know much, but there are three things she's absolutely certain of:

Her grandmother, Nonna, is a superhero and she wants to be just like her one day.

The world is round and she wants to see absolutely every inch of it.

And she and Elliot Peterson will be best friends for life.

After over a decade of getting up to no good together and spending every possible moment in one another's company, it seems impossible that anything could ever change.

Enter: the new girl. With perfect blonde hair and a body to die for, she's everything Abbi never realised she wanted to be. And as she starts to notice that something isn't right with Nonna, she finds that some of her certainties aren't quite so certain anymore, and loneliness forces her to dig deep for a strength she never knew she had.

H. A. Robinson is a jet-setting billionaire with a home on each continent, who spends her free time saving kittens from trees and babies from burning buildings. A graduate of Hogwarts and a frequent visitor to Narnia, she drinks coffee in Central Perk and tames dragons on Westeros.

In her dreams…

In reality, she’s a teaching assistant living in a small town in Cheshire, who would almost always choose fantasy over reality. She’s been an obsessive reader from the moment she picked up her first Enid Blyton book, more years ago than she cares to admit, and enjoys nothing more than getting lost in new worlds and adventures from the minds of all the amazing authors out there.

She’s had the voices of characters in her head for as long as she can remember, and puts them down on paper in order to convince herself and the men in white coats that she isn’t crazy.

5 Let's Do Something Crazy! Stars

Honestly, my words would never do justice to what I just read. It is a poignant and beautiful story about love and loss.

I had never heard of H.A. Robinson, but one of my forever favorite authors wrote a short and sweet five star review for this book, and I figured if she loved it, I most likely will to. And, yes indeed, I did!

It made me laugh, smile and tear up. There are very funny moments and very sad moments. It is a story about real life. This author's writing is flawless and mesmerizing. I really could not put it down.

This is the story of Elliot and Abigail, childhood best friends who did everything together, until they didn't.

Abagail yearned for the day she graduated high school to jet set off to see the world. Her Nonna gave her a very simple jar and asked Abagail to fill it up with a small pebble from each place her travels would take her to create tangible memories. Abagail loved her Nonna deeply and her Nonna loved Abagail.

Elliot, always the prankster, made hanging with very interesting, although the police were usually called due to all the fun they enjoyed. I would characterize Elliot and Abagail's friendship as Frick and Frack. Where one was, you would find the other.

All of that began to change the beginning of their senior year. A new, extremely attractive girl arrived to town. A girl Elliot became infatuated with. A girl he held in his arms and kissed passionately on the dance floor at a party. A girl who finally opened Abagail's eyes to realize she herself was in love with Elliot. A girl who inadvertently turned Abagail's world upside down and then proceeded to crash down around her.

Don't let the fact the two main characters are seniors in high school. This was so unlike any YA read I have ever come across. There isn't even one sex scene involved.

While my favorite writing style is dual POV, this first person POV worked extremely well.

I would be remiss in not mentioning Elliot and Abagail's friend, Tom. He brought such levity to the storyline and made it even more memorable.

I definitely want to read more by H. A. Robinson!

I've had this on my TBR for a while, and I'm kicking myself for not reading it sooner. I'm really kicking myself for assuming it would be a sweet, lighthearted romance, because that's what I thought I was in the mood for. But let's face it. When do I ever want a sweet, lighthearted romance? I like having my heart ripped out and stomped on repeatedly, and Robinson's shoe is still wedged in the gaping hole in my chest. I don't mean to scare you. There is an HEA, but the road leading to it isn't so much bumpy as sharp and pointed. This book gutted me. If you like angst (real-life angst, not teenage drama angst), look no further.

Robinson wrote the perfect characters. I adored Abbi. My heart broke for her over and over, and even when Elliot was the one doing the breaking, I couldn't help but love him, too. The character who really surprised me, though, was Abbi's father. I did not anticipate the man he became or the feelings he eventually drew from me. The scenes with him were somehow both subtle and gut-wrenching.

And speaking of subtle, the only other writer I can think of who draws feels this strong from simple, ordinary actions is Taylor Jenkins Reid, and I don’t make that comparison lightly. Robinson mastered this. When you can make me cry sob simply by having a drunk girl fail to open a door... WOW. And I shouldn't say "simply." There is nothing simple about Robinson's writing. It's brilliant.

This book is not getting the attention it deserves.

I don't typically read YA because I find the characters to be whiny, complaining about things that don't matter in the long run. This book does not fall into that trap. I was impressed that Robinson chose to write about an unconventional (and let's be honest here- neglectful) family, kids getting into trouble (but not real trouble), and the hopeful and creative spirit that is so easily snuffed by broken dreams and age.

The main characters are complex and interesting. Strangely, I felt as though I was transported back to the awkward in-between feeling of my teenage years, not quite a child and yet not an adult either. The MCs aren't perfect and have to navigate the complicated crossroads of puberty, filled with imperfect parents, less than stellar significant others, tests, and other problems that life throws at them. The characters have just the right balance of playfulness, moodiness, and maturity.

The book's ending hints that there may be more to follow. I hope so. I would like to visit these characters again, as they continue to grow up and experience more of what life has to offer.

A sweet read that propelled me back in time to my teen years- not as a wistful dream, but as they were- fragile, complicated, heartbreaking, and full of dreams.

4.5 stars.

Another win for the Pick-for-Me Challenge, and there was never any doubt in my mind. This month, October 2018, my book twin, Jean, had been tasked with being my "chooser" for the month. Selfishly I was thrilled, because I knew that she was going to be picking a book that I would love.

I've had this book for a long time now... and I have no logical explanation for not reading it before now. Every friend that has read it before me has sung it's praises and rated it crazy high... the cover is STUNNING. It has a playlist... (It's almost like the universe is saying, "Yes, Grey, there is a Santa Claus.")

It is a YA book, completely YA. No line straddling, or questionable material. So obviously that may have been part of the reason that I hadn't read it, although, I didn't even realize it was YA until I was done. Yep, not until I was typing this review did I realize there was no hibbity jibbity. Sorry for that. I think it had just gotten too buried on massive Mt. TBR. Which leads me to realize I *really* need to do a cleaning out of my kindle and sort this monsterous list, because I have probably have a lot of more gems that I have been missing out on.

So yes, my stalker tendencies are on point... I got the unfiltered Spotify playlist. 126 songs. I finished the actual book before the playlist, which makes me kind of sad. I love music. LOL, I love when authors share their musical inspiration- It. Is. Awesome. The whole creative process is just so intriguing, so getting to share in that is truly a gift and I appreciate it more than I can express.

Don't let my words convince you... read Ms. Robinson's, they are so, so, much better than mine.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Wherever you go, you leave a little of your light behind you to shine. Now, I want you to bring a tiny bit of your travels home with you, too. ... That way I can be sure that no matter how far from home you travel, you'll always come back home to me.

...love is a gross disease that only stupid people catch.

I've never known before that it was possible to sit in a room and miss somebody so desperately that every part of your body shook, while clutching onto their hand and singing to them as they slept.

Age isn't something to be ashamed of as so many seem to think. It means you've lived, experienced, learned and changed. I see my age as a mark of pride.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

In my opinion, this book is flying vastly under the radar. People need to read this book. The writing is phenomenal. Ms. Robinson's way with words is like butter, the dialogue is smooth and stylistically flared making me laugh out loud at times; even though I cried buckets...more than once... in fact, as I commiserated with a friend, at one point the front of my shirt was actually wet because I had cried so hard and I'm fairly certain I had snot bubbles because I was blubbering so hard. Make no mistake about it, friends... this lady can write the hell out of tear-jerker. I read it in the course of a few hours, even though it logs in at a solid 414 pages and I was super-mom flying around running my kids to various kid activities today. It kept my interest firmly piqued...even as it made my mascara run....damn you, Maybelline, you liar.

Favorite Quotes:

Having a child hadn’t exactly been high up on my parents’ married life to-do list, but I’d inconsiderately turned up anyway — a squalling, pooping, vomiting ball of life that they really didn’t have the time for. In fact, I suspected that the day she gave birth to me was the last day my mum had taken off work.

You once told me, and I quote, ‘love is a gross disease that only stupid people catch’.

It had become an obsession of sorts, trying to get him to tell me. It was like an imaginary cure for all, where everything would suddenly be righted. Cancer would disappear overnight, there would be peace in the Middle East, and Tom Williams would grow a personality.

I drew the line at dancing. I had all the coordination and grace of a concussed slug and had no intention of humiliating myself any further that night.

We certainly weren’t a religious family. My parents believed in the law and the ability of kale to solve world hunger, and Nonna believed that love made the world go around.

She was the quintessential mean girl. She had a great body and a pretty face, but that was where she began and ended. One of her favorite activities was making people feel bad about themselves, and she did it with such finesse that half the time, people wound up thanking her for it.

I’ve slowed down a little since then. My running days are over. These days, I sport something more between a plod and a waddle. A ploddle, if you will.

My Review:

I rarely read YA but I do read H.A. Robinson. In fact, I am so enamored with this talented scribe’s deft word craft that I would read her magical scribblings even if she started writing about the dreaded zombie apocalypse, well, I would definitely hesitate but would more than likely read it anyway. I was immediately transported directly into the brain of Abbie and resided among her inner musings until I finished the last word. I gobbled up this book like a fallen dieter on a binge. Written from a first person POV, the writing was smart, witty, engaging, keenly observant, thoughtful, poignant, heart squeezing, amusing, and so emotive that a mysterious fluid began to leak from my eyes and I appeared forced to gulp air in order to breathe – what madness! The storyline was relevant, moving, and devastating. Ms. Robinson’s endearing and vibrant characters were so well fleshed out that they were nearly pulsing on the page. I adored each and every one, except for Abbie’s heinous mother. And as an added bonus, I learned a new phrase and word to add to my Brit vocab list – bits and bobs and stroppiness, I cannot wait to use them.

Don't mind me. ... I'm just busy cleaning up my pile of wet snotty tissues. Wow, this book. I have no words, seriously.

Beautiful story, characters, writing......and yes the utter heartbreak...... and its not the heartbreak you're thinking.

Unputtdownable!

Thank you Melinda for picking this book in the Pick for Me challenge! But, ummm, a little warning would have been nice. Lol

I'm not even sure I can write a review for this book that would do it justice. It is without doubt a heartbreakingly, beautiful story that will stay with me forever......and probably the BEST book I have read this year (out of 52 so far!).

There was so much about this story that I could resonate with, and although I wasn't a teenager when my own grandparent went through the same thing, I found myself smiling.....and crying......as I could identify with every single word.

It is a story about love, loss and friendship and how it feels to be completely alone when the two most important people in your life start to drift away. The characters are so well developed and loveable (in most cases)......I absolutely adored Nonna and Tom! You will go on a journey of different emotions, your heart will break for Abbi but you will also find some lighthearted humour in the antics that Abbi and Elliott get up to. I definitely had some laugh-out-loud moments mixed in with the tears!

H A Robinson has such a way with words, her stories are carefully crafted, full of minute detail....yet nothing is too 'wordy' or unnecessary.....the words and pages just flow so smoothly that it is difficult to put the book down.

The story was just so vivid and real to me and I almost felt like I was experiencing it all in person, the writing is that good! I stayed up way past my usual bedtime to finish and I'll admit that I cried for the last three chapters.

Thank you so much H A Robinson for writing such a beautiful and amazing story......I feel like it was my 'Little Gran' all over again, and although very emotional for me to read, I'm so happy I got to fondly reminisce on a time of wonderful memories.

I am not going to be able to write a review worthy of this book. This story was incredible. I experienced a flurry of emotions reading this, I was smiling, then crying and sometimes even crying WHILE I was smiling. I found myself rooting for people and booing others.

This book kept me up waaaayyy past my bedtime and wiping many tears throughout.

I loved (or hated depending on who they were) the characters in this book. The story itself I won’t try to explain because I would never be able to do it justice. It was fantastic though. One character, Abbi (Abilgale, Wabs, Costa) transformed throughout the book from troublesome teen, young adult with the world on her shoulders, back to a petulant teen and it was amazing to follow. The author wrote her (and her close friends) so beautifully that I was constantly caught up in their world. Author H.A. Robison is an incredible author and on my list of “must read everything she writes” list and should be on yours too!

Everyone needs to read this book. Yep, I said it - it's a YA book, which usually makes me cringe cuz apparently I'm old and grumpy and too far removed from that age to really understand and tolerate a lot of their actions without getting all ragey. But this book was so much more. The fact that the characters are so young only adds to the reason why this book hit me so hard in the feels. It is a story about the innocence of youth, when we all thought the world is going to forever be this way, that people don't grow older, that life doesn't change us, that friendships forged in those years will stand the test of time. Abigail (Abbi, Costa, Wabs) is such a lonely young girl, who built up walls of sarcasm around her. But that only served to keep her pain and hurt inside those walls with her. Elliot (Smelliot) is absolutely everything. He is charming, funny, loving, and he just gets Abigail, on a level most of us can only hope to see in our lifetimes. I'm being vague about the storyline, because that just needs to be experienced. I wept, people. So. Many. Times. Ohh, it wasn't angsty in the way we angst whores usually like our romances. It was just touching and moving and deep and so heart-wrenching at times. And the writing? Oh the writing was sublime. I want to curl up in Ms. Robinson's lap and just let her read to me. Do yourself a favor and read this one. You will be more than glad you did!

The Pebble Jar has got to be my absolute favorite book of this year. This book is the reason why the young adult genre is one of my favorite genres to read. Abbi is the girl we can all relate too. We were all her at one point in our awkward adolescence(if you weren't, I hate you....j/k...sort of). I instantly fell in love with Elliot's charm and quick wit. And Nonna...she was a treasure. This story is full of moments that will make you smile, laugh, get angry, and yes, even cry. Big, fat, ugly cry tears too.

The struggles Abbi faces were difficult to read at times, only because it makes you realize that the people you think will be around forever, won't be. Be it a friend, a family member, or someone that you thought would never leave your side no matter what. Change is inevitable, no matter how bad we don't want it to be.

This book should be read by everyone. It's the perfect story of an evolution of friendship and growing up. You will laugh at Abbi and Elliot's antics and cry at their heartache. I fell in love with them from the first page. It's impossible not too.

Even though this is a YA book, it is also so much more. It deals with some topics which are above that "pay grade" and the main characters definitely have moments that elevate them above standard YA behavior.

It is an angsty YA read, there's no denying that. However, it also has heartbreak blending in from other aspects of life. All of it combines for one heck of an emotionally bumpy ride and I am there for it with my seat belt buckled tight and my tissue box at the ready.

I can probably count on 1 hand how many books have made me cry, The pebble jar has been added to that list. It broke me in a way a lot of other books haven't. I loved it from start to finish. I would have read it in one go if life didn't get in the way. I'll definitely be recommending it to everyone. It's easy to see the beauty behind the sadness. 💖💖💖

This book was magic, I totally loved it, it's about friendship, loss and all kinds of love, the love between a grandmother and her granddaughter, love between friends, unrequited love. It's also about the insecurities an adolescent has to endure in order to become an adult. Totally a must read.

I received an ARC for an honest review
Review by Country Gals BOOK Blog

Omg omg omg I could not put this book down.

Abigail and Elliot have been best friends since they were little. Inseparable and causing trouble daily. Their final year, Abigail's world is thrown upside down. Nothing is going as she envisioned. Her best friend and her barely speak after he started dating the beautiful new girl, she finally realized her feelings but screwed up so bad she doubts there's any going back from it, and her grandmother is sick. Loneliness didn't bother her before but now she is more alone than ever.

This story will pull your heartstrings and wiping he tears away. I didn't want to even take a break for fear of what I may miss next. Abigail's struggles with her feelings, her family, and loneliness throughout the entire story. I rooted for her and Elliot to make amends and wished she'd ask for help when she was drowning in her struggles. The deterioration of her grandmother and friendship was felt even in my heart. We all can relate in some way to his story between love and loss and utter confusion. It was a heartbreakingly beautiful story that you shouldn't miss.

The Pebble Jar
If you haven’t read H.A. Robinson before, this is the book to start with. This coming of age story is for young and old, alike, and is full of characters you take on as your truest friends. You feel everything Abi is going through because of the way H.A. Robinson weaves her words into your heart.
The issues that are addressed in this book are ones that everyone encounters throughout their journey in life, but the storytelling makes Abi’s journey her own. The writing is handled with such understanding of those raw emotions that, if you ask me, makes connecting with Abi and Nonna impossible to avoid, and leaves you mourning the loss as the story comes to an end.
The minute I finished reading The Pebble Jar, I handed it over to my young daughter and insisted she read it, because that is honestly how good it is.

The Pebble Jar
By H. A. Robinson

""Parents and grandparents stay the same age for so long because we don’t want to believe that there will ever be a day when we’ll have to do all of this on our own."

This books gave me all the feels. I was nervous, scared, upset, happy, destroyed.
Nervous, because reading this book and getting so wrapped up in it, I knew something was going to happen to cause my heart to break. At times I had to will myself to keep going. I was scared because I remember being in Abbi's shoes, and seeing my hero, my grandma, struggle through something that made her seem so small and fragile. I was upset, because The Pebble Jar had me remembering what it was like to be 15, and all the coming of age stuff that a teenager endures, and all the heartache that comes with crushes, and unspoken words. I felt happy because in that moment where you finally find yourself, you feel free. Reading Elliot and Abbi's moments put a little smile on my face to remind me that I have come such a long way from that awkward 15 year girl I used to be. I was destroyed because I know what it's like to have someone taken from you to soon. To experience something so heart breaking that you are not sure life can move on.

"We believed that the stories we’d written for ourselves were as inevitable as the sunrise, simply because we willed it so. After all, what could possibly stand in our way?"

I cried reading The Pebble Jar, to the point where I had to stop reading, because H. A. Robinson gave me all the feels. Her writing opened up some past memories, both sad and happy, and reminded me that in this life, there are ups and downs, but in the end, everything is as it should be. That all the things we experience happen for a reason. Just like me reviewing this amazing book. H. A's writing did something to my soul, it opened me up and let me remember.

"Everybody needed somebody sometimes, and I was alone and lost, with no idea what to do to help the one person who still cared."

So I hadn't seen anything about this book what so ever, then I find HA Robinson at an author signing event in York. I love to chat, ask questions & just be a social bunny & I,m so happy I stumbled past her table & made the effort to chat, because she took time to tell me about this book & when it was time to say goodbye, I promised I would read it on my vaca - which I did!!

I have to say, I really don't do much YA because typically they are to angsty, have whiny heroines & pretty damn immature heroes, but wow, just wow this book is worlds apart from standard YA. It was poetically stunning in how it was written & delivered. Emotionally it was a kaleidoscope of fun, laughter, angst, hurt, anger, pain & sadness, all woven into the fabric of a friendship that grows throughout the years, the kind as a kid we all longed for. The kind that if your lucky, turns into a love deeper than the ocean, but with the power to hurt than you think you can bare.

Abbi & Elliot are that pair, their childhood antics made me giggle as I was pulled back to my own. It was easy, natural & at times awkward. As years past, the challenges of puberty, feelings & emotions come into play & in a very sad, touching way, you get to see how growing up can easily lead to growing apart.

But flowing through this story of love, life & coming of age, is hardship & sorrow. It's the family you wish you had, the parents who don't deserve that title.. it's the family you can't physically imagine living life without. It's the harsh reality of life taking what it wants & just how hard & painful it is to watch it destroy everything you hold precious.

Truly this book touched my heart in such a special & profound way. I cried for Abbi so much. This girl stole my heart for sure. As for Elliot, well he filled my heart with happiness as he slowly turned into the man he was destined to be.

A beautifully written story that I'll hold close to my heart for a good while to come.

I have to say this book wowed me.  It was a great read with a great story line.  It started off a little slow but soon reeled me in quick.  You quickly learn about the love and patience it takes with a friendship so strong.  And in the end what you thought wouldn't be possible becomes possible.

This book took Y/A Romance to the next level of Incredible!

I found myself looking up new releases this week and I stumbled on this blurb and there was no reviews (at the time) but my gut said I needed to at least download the sample and see what happens.

I did.

I had to buy it!

Sometimes you don't always need sex to create a love story. In this case, you just need the perfect story and the words to combine it all and that there will create the emotions that make up what truly was a book that will forever touch my heart.

“When you love somebody fiercely, you keep a part of them with you always, no matter where their journey takes them.”

To be young again and to remember what it was like.

There are many stories out there now that are about a boy and a girl that grew up together but many of them usually skip from being young to adults. This book takes you to only one time in their lives, a time that changed everything. There was no need to skip to the future because there were so many different things going on in just this one year. This ONE year - the author did (speechless) ....my jaw is still on the ground and the tears of sadness and joy are still lying on my bed.

"He made me feel beautiful in a way I’d never managed before. The way his eyes followed me wherever I moved, somehow intense but relaxed all at the same time, made me feel as though I was worth watching."

What can I say - and the irony is that I haven't read a Y/A book in quite sometime but we mustn't overlook this bc of it's genre (meaning how many might and are similar to me in this case) - remember back when a certain trilogy became huge because of an abused girl in high school - sex was not the catalyst - the story was. And a brilliant author, who knows how to do it right, will take you on a journey that's filled with so much creativity that it allows you to overlook that element and see the beauty of what love is really about in more ways than one and it is beautiful. So beautiful. That is "The Pebble Jar" - OUTSTANDING!

Just Amazing!

This is Abbi’s story. She has a best friend Elliot who makes her live with adventures at every turn. Until one day he notices another girl.
Turning to her Nonna who has always been her rock and only relative who cares for her. She notices something isn’t right. Abbie has to grasp that her whole world has changed in a way she can’t imagine.
This devastatingly Beautiful story of young adults and aging Nonna’s there are some bonds that can never be broken. Loved this story!!!

4-4.5 stars. Really sweet coming of age story with a lot of feels and emotions. I've got a soft spot for youths who come from inattentive families and Abbi is no exception. Her best friend is Elliot whom she's known all of her life and the other person closest to her is her grandma Nonna. Otherwise, Abbi's parents hardly paying any attention to her or who she is so Abbi has grown up not being noticed and feeling like an inconvenience and underachiever, often starved for affection. But Elliot is always there to cheer her up and take her on adventures that often lead to mischief and trouble. Abbi can also count on Nonna to be there as her number one cheerleader and sounding board.

So in Abbi's last year of school, things change for her. The people she could undoubtedly count on are no longer constant anchors in her life. Elliot has his eye on another girl who is the exact opposite of Abbi in every way that he hardly ever notices her anymore. And Nonna has health issues requiring extra care. Abbi's life is turned upside down and she doesn't know who to turn to. In the beginning of the story, it was so happy and jovial and later turns rather emotional with the isolation that Abbi is feeling. At first, I found Abbi to be somewhat immature, but she grows up quick in the story because Abbi is loyal and when she cares about someone, she gives them her whole heart and devotes all of herself to that person even though on the outside, she keeps everyone at arm's length to avoid attachments that could lead to abandonment. I definitely had a wide range of sentiments coursing through me on Abbi's behalf as she grew up from a girl into a young woman and loved the meaning behind the pebble jar.

This was an absolutely awesome coming-of-age story. Although the British colloquialisms caused me to pause a time a two in confusion and the characters' dialogue and actions seemed more mature than their 15 years of age, this story was beautifully told and skillfully captured the emotion-rich time in a young person's life when they are on the cusp of adulthood and everything is felt more intensely. Life is richer, love is stronger, loss is harder. It's been a long time since I've read a full-length book in one sitting (especially staying up until 3:00 a.m. to do so) but this one demanded it...deserved it. I loved it! Fair warning...invest in tissues. You will need them. "But what we have to remember is that the ones we love the very most don't have to be in our arms to be in our hearts.." Abbi and Elliot's story now resides in my heart.

Just buy yourself a copy and get one for a teenager you know also 😁

Firstly, I want to praise the author for broaching such brave subject matters with-in a YA book. It is very much needed.

Many young teenagers face what our heroine Abigail Costa and Tom goes through in the book and these characters had my heart through-out.

To complete this review I have chosen a number of quotes as this book simulates real teen emotions from happy one minute to that trigger of shock to realising your growing up the next and have to adult.

Abigail is a fun loving tom boy who's best friend is our hero Elliot.
Abigail is 15 at the start of the book and first indicates her hormones are wakening up by stating:

"I wasn't sure where the sickly feeling in the pit of my stomach has come from. All I know was that the sight of Elliot falling over himself to impress this new girl did strange things to my insides and made me want to lob the ball smack in her Barbie doll face".

Then Abigail later informs us:

"Love is a gross disease that only stupid people catch".

Abigail is a teenager faced with all these normal emotions but also the fact her Nonna (grandmother) is changing and she has to face the reality of this and take on responsibilities she shouldn't have to face at this age in her young life.

Tom's character reminded me of that person growing up who represented the clown of the class. Everyone loves them but as they always say sometimes the clown face is to hide what is going on beneath.

Elliot is every girls boy nexts door that I got angry at through-out the book and wanted to shake but quickly forgave him cause his character appears so genuine. For me Elliot path finding true love in the book is just heart warming.

This book also had lots of potential learning for any YA reader. This is symbolised by another favourite quote from the book when Abigail states:

"I Wanted to scream at them that time could go screw itself. I'd always been in such a hurry to grow up and get out of Colwich, and it never occurred to me that the time I was wishing away could possible be precious".

Despite the hard hitting issues the characters face in this book, I also found it comedic at times and also hopeful. My favourite quote from the whole book is:

"When you love somebody fiercly, you keep a part of them with you always, no matter where their journey takes them".

This book may be a YA but it brought back some joyful memories for me. As adults we sometimes forget what it is like to be a teenager again and this book reminded me of some of the happier memories from that time period in my life.

This was one of this books I didn't want to finish but I wanted to know what happened. If you haven't read it you will not be disappointed and every teenager should have a copy to help guide them on their journey in life.

What the fuck was this book, serious. My heart is so broken right now I can’t even deal with these feels.

When I was told this book was sad I went in preparing myself to be sad. Sad wasn’t what I got AT ALL! This book was gut wrenching, it hits you straight in the heart and shatters it completely. I cried, sobbed actually because this story hit close to home. It brought back memories and although the memories make me sad they make me incredibly happy too, this book was incredible, seriously incredible.

Abbi and Elliot are two incredible characters, ones I wont be forgetting any time soon. Abbi grew up with absent parents but surround by love from her grandmother. She’s shut herself off from everyone except for the select few people she loves. Elliot, he’s amazing and mischievous and the perfect best friend. Together they’re the perfect team.

Their story was amazing although I was angry through part of it with the way he acted I wanted to punch him in the gut lol but I love that, I love when a book makes me feel all the feels.

This book consumed me from the get go, I couldn’t put it down, didn’t want to put it down. You know a book is gonna be good when you feel like that.

HA Robinson did an incredible job with this storyline, especially the illness, she portrayed that perfectly. It’s hard, it’s heartbreaking and it takes it toll, it’s horrible but you’d do it all over again in a heartbeat for the ones you love.

If I could give more than five stars to this beautifully heartbreaking story I would. It deserves so much more!
