This is definitely my favorite book starting now! I learnt A LOT. I've learnt more about who I am and what matters to me most. I've learnt to value myself, life and people around me more. Thank you so much, davidji! ♥️ This book is full of love and wisdom! Makes you really think about a lot of things. ~RIPPLE~
I started this book in Mexico and ended it on Mammoth Mountain, CA in the middle of a snow storm almost a month later. I feel like this book has taught me to breathe through everything and be nothing but absolutely present. I found it important to take it slow and digest every chapter and word within. Davidji is an amazing influencer in my world and I can not wait to work through his other books and further meditations. I give this book so much gratitude and thanks for helping me work through daily problems with a newly balanced mind and open heart.
Bollocks. Some truths repackaged for the Woke generation. Formulaic 7 steps to blah blah blah territory. Feels like a "Spiritual" Tony Robbins sell. Regurgitated ancient wisdom repackaged as "Secrets" to suck in the seekers. Savvy creation of a sense of specialness. Clever hooks for "those on the Path", Seeker Suckers. Capital letters That Emphasise Every Sacred Principle. So Important. Deep. Timeless. Wisdom. Only $22.99 from a self proclaimed Master ~sigh. So Secret. So Special. If you just do all the meditations and fill out all the lists you just might reach Enlightenment or whatever new cage cheeseburger name is popular right now. If that doesn't work I'm sure he has other stuff to sell that does. Nothing new here except the pretty packaging.
Incredible…. Sort of woo woo but really made me think about the core of who I am and how I can use that to transform my life. Crazy. A really good read :)
The only thing bad about this book is that A) it took so long for me to read, but that's because B) 90% of the time I spent "reading" I was really copying quotes from these pages into my journal. There are so many things I took from this book, and I want to do a full review, but I have no idea where to start!
Don't get me wrong: there were some things that resonated with me and some things that didn't, but I don't think it's a stretch to say that there's at least something in this book for everyone. I stepped into this book being daunted because it's obviously very "Spiritual," but if even if you've never read a spiritual text before in your life, there is something valuable about the way Ji structures the book into "sacred powers." Even if you finish the book and are left feeling bewildered, you'll probably be able to at least reference something that piqued your interest based on what sacred power it fell under.
In all, I enjoyed it, and even if you're not into the spirituality of the book, I think you can get something out of it even if you skim it.
I was very excited to read "Sacred Powers" by davidji, and it didn´t disappoint me! I loved that it was designed as a workbook with many actionable steps and tasks. Davidji also offers various guided meditations which you can find on his website or as a short version in this book. And I can only say I ADORED the soft cover of this edition. I´ve rarely owned a book that felt so good to the touch.
This was my first venture into the self-help/spirituality genre. Davidji does a great job of making ancient tradition and belief systems simple and easy to understand by relating them to modern scenarios. Simple language and thought-provoking activities makes Sacred Powers a great place to start the journey towards awakening transformation.
I fell in love with this book when I started it. It’s vastly inspirational and life changing. However I couldn’t find passion in it again as I lost my grandmother shortly after starting it. It recently called to me again and I got sucked back in. This book is uplifting and empowering and I recommend it to anyone
This book is set out in a series of steps or levels for you to pursue. And each level contains questions of yourself to help clarify your mindfulness, your relationships, your potential, your gifts, etc. and provides an affirmation, a mantra and a guided meditation. So essentially it is almost a course or a path to take deeper into both meditation and mindfulness, while keeping those questions or answers at the front of your mind and the affirmations to keep you steadily moving forward.
I have read a fair number of books on this type of material and I would have to rate this up at the top of the list. I did follow-up at his website to an astonishing number of free guided meditations.
This was a slow but powerful read for me. I found it to be enriching, powerful, and insightful. It took a long time for me to read because I lingered over the provocative questions and transforming exercises.
Excellent. David Ji is a favorite of mine. Be prepared for some journaling with this book. A great one for digging deep into your internal « who am I »
As a student of Ayurveda, this felt like a really nice companion text to help understand the psychological and philosophical power of the practices Ayurveda lays out. Really insightful!
In Sacred Powers, the author talks about five secrets to awakening transformation. The principles are:
1. The Divine Principle of One 2. The Divine Principle of Awareness 3. The Divine Principle of REbirth 4. The Divine Principle of Infinite Flow 5. The Divine Principle of Inner Fire
The book discusses how you can incorporate these principles into your life. David Ji writes both beautifully and soothingly.
Davidji’s “Sacred Powers” is a good reminder of the true power of various aspects of mindfulness for anyone who has ever studied yoga or meditation, and could also serve as a solid introduction for mindfulness novices because it is an easy read compared to foundational texts like the Bhagavad Gita. Davidji’s book contains guided fill-in-the-blank activities sure to benefit anyone who takes the time to complete them. My only issue is that Davidji writes about mindfulness from such an individualistic and at times idealistic perspective that it can be difficult to imagine applying his principles to real world scenarios. For example, the author emphasizes the importance of beginning each day with uninterrupted meditation in a quiet and comfortable space. I appreciate this suggestion but would appreciate even more suggestions on how to practice mindfulness in a house full of kids with no real private or quiet space available. Not all of us who seek spiritual transformation are monks, afterall. But then maybe I should have sought out “Sacred Powers for Busy Working Moms” instead. Next time!
I am an avid reader that has been studying and practicing spirituality for over a decade now. While this book had some kernels of information I found useful or uniquely articulated, I struggled to finish it because it is rather fluffy and repetitive for me. It presents high-level concepts about spirituality which, depending on where you are on your journey, can resonate quite a bit with you. But if you're comfortable with material that is at a more advanced level, this book may not hold your interest well. And while I respect Davidji's take on these concepts, I just didn't connect with this book.
This book is filled with nuggets of wisdom and teachings from all over the world. I enjoyed the meditation and contemplations excercises in the book as they helped me contemplate and even adjust some directions in my life.
However I did find this book very repedative and I skimmed through it more than read it word for word. I would recommend this to someone who is looking for help on a specific issue or looking to gain general insights on spiritual terms. However if you are already knowledgeable on topics of meditation, chakras or self development then I would skip this read as it doesn't add much that hasn't been said before.
The author approaches this book from the aspect of believing in whatever your core belief is and adding the sacred powers to that belief. At times it seems very Buddhist. There are many times that I wanted others to read parts of this book. Simply because of the way he talks about how we are connected to everything and everything's connected to us. It took me a long time to read it. Honestly, it was an audiobook for me because I wanted to hear the author's voice and appreciate the lessons in the pages. If I read it again, I'll read it as a physical book so I can do the journaling and meditation as well as the prayers.
If you are interested in Davidji’s teachings, you will probably be interested in this book. It is the basis for many of his meditations found on Insight Timer, SoundCloud, and his website. However, there is a lot of information in here, and it seemed overwhelming to me at times. I had read it in the hopes it would substitute for some of his classes he offers as they are very expensive. But while I walked away with some nuggets of information, it would probably be very helpful to actually learn this material in a live setting where you can ask questions.
This is definitely an interesting spiritual read but it wasn't my favourite. It was unique in a lot of ways but also overlapped on a lot of what has already been said in their field. It had references to Don Miguel Ruiz's work (who is one of my favourite authors) and gave tribute to some of his ideas of thinking which I enjoyed. The fifth secret was probably my favourite chapter and I mostly enjoyed all of the play along exercises scattered throughout the book. Not AS life changing as I hoped for but certainly still a good read.
Ehh. This one was just okay for me. I consider myself very "woo woo" and am very interested in the philosophies shared in this book, but for me personally this one felt aimed more towards someone who has not experienced a spiritual awakening yet, or is in the very early stages of that journey. It was more of a reminder of the basics for me, and regurgitated info from other books from other guru types who are already out there. I got about 1/2 way through and didn't finish it because I got the gyst of what the book was teaching and became disinterested.
Overall enjoyed this book! There were some parts that were very insightful and awakening but definitely not a book for anyone who is not spiritual or has no interest in spirituality. I consider myself somewhat spiritual and I found some parts a little too much for me personally. Definitely recommend active reading and making sticky notes if you’re forgetful like I am. I liked the activities throughout as well, very engaging and helped reiterate the teachings.
Sacred Powers presents a trove of dogma from civilizations throughout history. I thoroughly enjoyed the culmination of culture and thought this book was helpful in my own quest to learn.
Some of the rituals seemed repetitive; however, the teachings were all unique, important, and impactful.
I love the way that Davidji writes! He is eloquent with his words, so much so that you feel like his is in the room speaking them to you 💫 massive praise for giving me the feeling of infinite love and gratitude in my heart 💓
A must purchase for anyone on their own personal soul journey and write in book that I will take with me on my journey on this day forward 🙌🏼
