I can see it now my nephews new word is going to be buttsness. You know it is like business but with the word butt in it. I did not read books 2 and 3 in this series but still this book can be read as a stand alone story.

Stinky Steve is back with his superpower of farts. Yet, he has used this power for good and not evil. Unlike the new nemesis that Steve encounters in this book. In this story, Steve meets the Burpinator. It just so happens that the Burpinator is a girl named Alex. I thought this was pretty funny and great. This is because when I was younger my sister, I, my mom, and my mom's friend used to all have burping contests. Not just who could burp the longest but also who could burp the loudest. I won in both categories as well as with a multi level burp.

Steve and Alex had quite the battle with both trying to get the upper hand. If you took away their superpowers than you would have a boy and girl who semi liked each other. However, you would not get them to admit it. This book is an enjoyment for all.

‘Time to heat up some beans!’

P.T. Evans has been writing books for children under various names for two decades. With seventeen novels, numerous author visits, and state reading awards, Evans' books have been translated into two dozen languages. P.T. Evans ‘loves Minecraft, pizza, emojis, cats, and fart jokes. When he’s not writing or doing author visits, he is training alligators and sumo wrestling.’ His previous books include EMOJI ADVENTURES and MINECRAFT and his fellow creator for this popular series of STINKY STEVE is the stalwart illustrator Jake Tashjian.

From Book 1 in this series we met Steve - Steve lives in Minecraft and while out checking the chickens and the pigs and he notes a sickness and a TNT type explosion, looks behind him and there is a giant cloud of fart following him – the stench is coming from Steve. He remarks, ‘Am I the only Steve with uncontrollable farts or did other players download the bean mod too? Is my perfect Minecraft world on its way to being destroyed – by me?’ And with that reminding bit of introduction we are now in Book 4 with Steve stating ‘It’s been a busy week on the server. Unlike the other citizens of Minecraft, I don’t get to call it a day at 5pm and crack open a frosty can of soda. Nope, being a superhero is a 24/7 job.’ Steve rescues his fellow citizens with the use of his farts – from a pet ocelot in a tree to a fair maiden whose castle was in jeopardy to helping an entire village escape from a pack of wolves with a force field of farts.

But the gist of this adventure is Steve is his coping with the Burpinator – he devises a burp detector and is off and running with his ability to fight his own way. He fights zombies successfully and then finally encounters the real Burpinator – Alex, a girl! –who tells Steve that he is simply causing pollution with is special weapon. Alex the Burpinator fights off zombies with her loud noxious burps and belches. Steve has to use his brain to combat his competitor Alex, and he discovers that she gets her ammo for her burps from giant sodas. Steve rigs the soda fountain with explosives and the battle is on – and too tell much more would be a spoiler. Suffice it to say that Steve and his power farts rescue Alex and her bloated stomach in a most heroic way – or does he? Wait for the next installment.

Even if you don’t follow Minecraft this little book is so humorous and well written and illustrated that it will become a favorite of kids and adults.

Fighting crime is all in a day’s work for Steve, who uses his lethal farts as a weapon against the undead, as well as taking out those unfortunate enough to be standing in the line of fire when one of Steve’s heavily baked stink bombs are unleashed. When Steve’s Burpinator alarm sounds, he quickly makes his way to the abandoned amusement park, which is home to many undeterred zombies and villains. Not only is Steve determined to defeat the Burpinator in a landslide victory, but he also plans to take the Burpinator out for good. After Steve loads up on some high-powered flatulence-inducing foods, in readiness for the great duel, his plans are thwarted and he is forced to rethink his whole strategy when he finds out the true identity of his burping nemesis.

I could not help but be amused, not only at the title of the book, but also the content and illustrations, as this superhero-with-a-difference fights the forces of evil. P.T. Evans’ writing talent shines through, portraying a butt-shooting, flame-throwing powerhouse, who is not afraid to take on enemies of the people, whether those enemies are dead or undead. Not only was the story well-crafted and witty, but the illustrations left nothing to the imagination as the story unfolded. Minecraft Steve vs. The Burpinator is a hilarious must-read for all fans of the Minecraft games and books. The characters are strong, witty and are as dedicated as the die-hard fans who follow their trails (from a distance, in Stinky Steve’s case). I thoroughly enjoyed Minecraft Steve vs. The Burpinator, and recommend it to Minecraft Novices and Experts alike.
