Minding his own business is what Mac Travis does best until a strong storm coupled with a king tide brings dead fish to his doorstep. Mac investigates the cause, discovering a murder and wreck at a testing station in Florida Bay. The trail leads him deep into the backcountry of the Florida Keys where he uncovers a plan that could lead to the destruction of the Everglades. Along with Mel and Trufante, he sets out to save the ecosystem but soon becomes embroiled in the politics and power of Big Sugar.
Wood’s Revenge is a gripping standalone adventure thriller in Steven Becker’s bestselling Mac Travis series. Centered around South Florida and the Florida Keys, Becker’s books feature plenty of Keys counter-culture along with SCUBA diving, boating, and fishing.
I just don't know what to say. I'm used to my thriller heroes doing almost the impossible, getting out of situations that are dangerous, but Mr Becker has gone a little too far for this reader to believe or even imagine this one! Mac is put into situations that have nothing to do with the story, for the sake of adding to the word count. I'm done with this series.
Mac runs into the red tide, fish poisoned by the run off from fertilizer and chemicals all the way down into the Keys. His enemies, big sugar and politicians combined with poachers. The result, a race to restore the natural water rum off that was ruined over the years. Encounters with all the players makes for great action, mystery, murder and mayhem. Can Mac and his friends save the ecosystems and save the fishing and lobster in the gulf and the Keys? You've in for quite a ride. This novel is fiction based on real situations. Thanks for another great read.

Fans of Wayne Stinnett books will probably like this series. The adventures are set in the Keys and every now and again one of Stinnett's characters show up in the book. The 3 main characters are diverse, Mel the lawyer and girlfriend of Mac who is the jack of all trades, diver and fisherman and the Cajun friend Tru who is a trouble magnet that leads them into all sorts of trouble and adventures. The books are easy to read and flow well. The plots have enough twists to keep you interest. The further I get into this series the more I like it.
A little at a time my husband and I have been working our way through the Mac Travis series based in Florida. Each book covers facets of the culture, some science, some of the diving industry, the saga of friendship romance and fishing and boating as well as unique things about the Florida Keys.In this particular instance there was some good coverage of the big sugar industry and a solid fuel rocket that apparently is still in an abandoned facility in Florida.
The detail in this storyline, and all through the series, allows you to fully see each action in your mind. And it totally reflects the Keys lifestyles and boating amongst them. As usual, a great story.
Paul McSorley's narration and and vocal characterizations have been spot on and carries through the whole series.
More Mac Travis adventures down Florida way as he and Mel and friends tangle with the of Big Sugar. and the head of a sugar cane grower and sugar producer who along with others growers have be destroying the Everglades to get more growing acreage and polluting the waters with the agricultural run off. Another life and death adventure. Easy reading and I like the characters in this series.
I’m really hooked on this series. Mac and Tru always find someway to get in trouble. With the help of his other friends they always come out smelling like a rose. Gotta hurry and finish this series so I can get back to my other books. Hope you enjoyed this book as much as I did.
You know Trufante is always going to get Mac into trouble and you know Mac will get himself out of trouble but not before several near death experiences. The characters are fun to follow and I keep wondering when we will find out who Pam really is. I’ll keep reading!
Written with emotion, writers get carried away, when developing some of their action scenes. They then tend for the characters to do things beyond normal people capabilities.
Just finished the 7 book series with Mac Travis and crew. Very enjoyable read with plenty of action and suspense. Well researched material and great use of descriptions to hold the readers interest. Looking forward to the next in this series. Great job Mr. Becker
Although I like the series it would sure be nice to see Mac win a fight once in awhile, talk about a bumbling 🦸♂️ hero. I gonna try one more book if Travis is as dumb as he has been , I will move on. Come on go take some lessons from Jesse Mcdermitt, Logan Dodge, or Meade Breeze
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that he never stops writing. His books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
Not a page Turner, but well written and edited. Locations and background for the story are well thought out and tightly constructed. Over all a pleasant read and exscapest's delight. Enjoy the book.
Fun read, as were all the Mac Travis books thus far. Nothing especially outstanding about this particular story, just good fun to read. Perfect for a summertime read at the beach, or by the pool.
The adventure continues with Mac trying to save Trufante from another disaster. This time there is a lot of action in the everglades. Highly recommend it.
The latest installment of Mac Travis' adventures was pure enjoyment. Found interesting the Big Sugar info and status of the Everglades. Thanks for a great story, Mr. Becker!
The Mac Travis series is very entertaining with memorable characters, especially Trufante. This book was also great insight to the sugar industries influence in South Florida.
Bruce Willis, I've found your next starring vehicle. Backed up by an all-star ensemble cast, there are fast boats and cars, explosions, threats to the ecology, gators and bad guys galore. Taking full advantage of all the latest tech plus the MacGyver in all of us, you and your crew will save the day for peace, justice and the American way. Author Steven Becker gets better with each novel and I know I'm going to want to grab some of the earlier ones I've missed as I've skipped through the Mac Travis series, but no worries--this one stands on its own as an outstanding thriller and all around good time. P.S. Be sure to read the Author's Note!
