Kim, i have finished your book. I am completely blown away by your talent. I loved the book. I loved the storyline, the characters and how you described them so intently. I loved how the passage of time was so well marked by how you portrayed the characters and how you changed the language they used as they grew older. The intricate way you described whole scenes had me imagining exactly what they would look like; from the general feel of the setting and the look of the landscape, to the smaller details like the way their hair moved in the breeze and the emotions the characters were feeling at the time. The storyline is exciting and relatable. Is has great depth to it but in an uncomplicated way, making the book very easy to read There are so many themes in the pages that anyone can relate to. There were times when i had goosebumps on my arms and times when i had tears in my eyes. However, like any good book, it ended far too quickly. I hope there are many more to come.
A really good read. Millie’s Angel kept my attention throughout. The gritty fragmentation of the family at the start was stark, confronting and very well written. I’m sure the harshness of the scenes that Millie was confronted with were extremely difficult emotionally to write, and Kim deserves credit for laying perhaps some of her darkest fears out in the open in order to bring the story to life.
She coupled that with an inspirational undertone that was very definitely uplifting. It is certainly engaging and unique story and I would be happy to recommend this book.
'Millie's Angel" by Kim Peterson is an unusual novel which is intriguing and suspenseful. The genres for "Millie"s Angel" are Fiction and Women's Fiction. There is also a feeling of Mysticism. In my opinion, this novel might be considered Paranormal or Inspirational Fiction.:" Inspirational fictions emphasizes morals, values, and life lessons from unconventional standpoints."-Wikipedia
Kim Peterson portrays her character Millie feeling an "angelic, celestial presence." Millie has been abandoned by her mother, and is helping to bring her brother up. Her father is mentally unstable, and at times shows a very dark personality. Millie seems to see the world in colors, butterflies, light, and angel's wings. The author describes Millie's train of thoughts in the world making her feel that "she holds the key to the Kingdom of Heaven."Despite life's burdens,Millie seems to have faith and hope, and also seems to light up the world around her.
There is symbolism of good and evil in this story. Some of the characters do extremely immoral and malicious things. Their actions are vicious, and they have no control over their actions. They possess demonic qualities.
I was thinking of many philosophical possibilities when I was reading this book. There is suspense, and yet at times the story was predictable.
This was an unique story that can be interpreted in different ways. It is also hard to fit into any one genre. I received a copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
This isn’t a genre I usually read, but I’m so glad I did. I loved it!! I couldn’t put this book down. It had everything – love, laughter, and tears, sitting right alongside the anger, pain and feelings of despair. The author dragged me into her world and kept me there with her scenes that were so descriptive I felt like I was there experiencing everything that Millie encounters, wanting to reach out and give her a hug. Well done Kim, well done! I certainly hope there’s a second book to come!
This book isn't in the genre I would usually go for. I think it's because of this that I thought of some chapters to be quite confronting and hard to read. Millie, and other main characters have to experience, confront and overcome some very heart-rending and difficult incidents.
However I do think Millie's Angel is a very insightful novel. Kim Peterson's descriptive writing style was captivating and Millie's character development took me on a rollercoaster of discovery, betrayal, hurt, forgiveness, and self love and understanding.
Millie's Angel incites the reader to empathise and place themselves in the position of each character, and feel all the highs and lows and understand all the hard decisions each of them have to make.
Millie's Angel: Just Imagine by Kim Petersen is an inspirational novel that tells the story of Millie and a family that is both cursed and blessed. Abandoned by her mother in disturbing circumstances, Millie grows up relying on her own strength and the comfort that comes from a friend and a guy who has smitten her heart. Can she forgive her mother for abandoning her? And what about her father, a man whose presence is as threatening as it is incomprehensible, a man she loves dearly, too? It isn’t until ten years later that her mother makes contact again, and Millie has matured into a responsible woman, and developed a powerful and uplifting bond with an angelic vision.
But why did she leave? What happens after her return to Millie’s life? Here is a story that features family secrets, an extraordinary gift, love and friendship, and redemption. Kim Petersen has crafted a very inspiring tale around an angel, a young girl, and a troubled family. The story starts with a dramatic incident that will affect the way Millie sees life and her family — an attack on her mother.
Watching a young girl take responsibility over her kid brother while living with an unpredictable father is heartbreaking, but such is the reality in the story and it helps to create the conflict that will drive it. The writing is tight and the descriptions are vivid. Millie's Angel features compelling characters and readers will find some resonances with each of the characters. They are well-explored around the themes of friendship and love, spirituality, hatred, and dark secrets. It is a great story with an awesome finish.
Such an entertaining novel. Once I began reading, I found it difficult to put the book down and I held my breath in anticipation as to what was to follow.
The dynamics between each of the family members was explosive, and the love and bonds present within their relationships was endearing. Following Millie's life and discoveries was captivating as well as thought-provoking.
I wouldn't hesitate recommending Millie's Angel to anyone; they would not be disappointed.
I Devoured this book is two days, which had me moving from room to room, hiding from my family to find the next quiet spot in which to feed my curiosity as to what happened next. What can I say about Millie's Angel without ruining the experience? Because it is more than a read, it is a journey...
One of self discovery and realizing the power of your inner voice. One where you find yourself engrossed with the characters on their journey. Kim has managed to communicate seamlessly the transitions throughout the characters growth.
Be ready to have your emotions ebb and flow with the highs and lows of Millie and those of her tight inner circle. Be ready to shed tears, hold your breath and feel your heart swell with this story..
Then be ready to Nag Kim for her sequel! As with all great Novels, you are left wanting for more!!!! Well done PussyCat, I absolutely Loved it <3
With Millie's Angel you soon find yourself engrossed within each character and the issues they face. At times, its a struggle to work out if you love a character or hate them. The best thing about this book is finding yourself at the forefront of Millie's discoveries as she learns the power of imagination and attempts to instill her insights into her life.
Millie's Angel comes together beautifully in a nail-biting ending that reveals a surprise I did not expect. Courageous. Honest. Heart-warming. Shocking - this book is a treasure trove of discoveries. I am looking forward to reading more from this writer in the future.

My Review: ✮✮✮✮ I really wasn’t sure how to classify this book when it came to a genre. It is sort of in a class by itself. Yes, it is a love story and a story about a dysfunctional family. But this is so much more than that. This is a story about good vs. evil, about good driving out evil. Be ware, there are angels among us.
Emily and her twins, such a sad story. A story of God showing us the way, but giving us the choice, allowing us self-will.
Glen, Millie’s father, finally made it to the light he kept striving to find all along. He had kept fighting against the serpent within him and finally, there was help strong enough to help him cast it out.
Damon seemed to know what Millie was all along. And then there was Ace, Millie’s brother. The serpent had its teeth into him when he was young. As he grew, the attachment grew stronger and finally, he became the host and fled.
The Bible says, “God has given believers the Holy Spirit to help us on our walk of faith. He will guide us in the right direction.” Throughout Millie’s life, she turned to God for guidance. Sometimes she did it directly and sometimes she turned to Him through her angel.
This book is about faith and yet it is still a very comfortable read for anyone, even those not looking for a “Christian” book. Faith is the main focus and you are still not preached at. This is a very uplifting book in many ways. Though is has many very dark times and many bad things happen. It is a book of struggle and pain. The pace of the book is good, though there are some areas where it does bog down with all the sorrow and some predictability. This book comes with my strongest recommendations.
This book will make you laugh, cry, feel sad, reminisce and break your heart. It is full of drama from domestic violence, first love, abandonment, friendship, grief and the belief that there is something more to this life we live. It all starts with Millie getting a journal from her mum to tell her to write down all the whispers she hears. At the time she did not understand but as time goes on she has a better understanding of Love and Faith. I really enjoyed Kim Petersen’s writing style and the characters she has created in this book. I hope there will be a follow-on book as there were many questions not answered at the end of this read. I received a free copy of this book for my voluntary honest review.
Millie's Angel. This is a fantastic novel by Kim Peterson. It tells the story of a young girl, Millie, her life, her family and friends over the space of about 10 years. From the start you are drawn in to the story and each character. Millie is a very special person who has an effect on everyone's lives. Through her thoughts, imagination and spirituality she learns that she has an extraordinary gift. It is the story of love, friendship, forgiveness, the bond between mother and daughter, there is some hatred and dark family secrets. The story line kept me guessing right until the end and there are parts that I did not see coming. It is a very well written with vivid descriptions that keep you thinking long after you have finished. I would recommend this book to anyone and look forward to more from Kim Peterson in the future, 5 stars from me.
I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.
I enjoyed this book for most of it. It was an interesting character study of people and how they reacted to each other. I felt compelled to continue reading it even though I kind of figured out what was going to happen to the various characters. The only big question was what would happen at the very end to one of the characters. We could see the wheels being set in motion long before they happened. It did not end the way I expected it would, but that is OK.
The characters were well thought out and showed growth and development throughout the book. The progression of the years in the story flowed easily with what looked like some very natural breaks in their struggling lives.
Some might say if I though that well of everything, why do I only give it three stars. I guess I would have to say that I do not mind a little preaching at but when you spend pages trying to teach me your spiritual philosophy that I get put off. Most of the book I could see hints of New Age philosophy and that was OK. I am not going to put an author or a book down just because I disagree with what they believe to be true. If I did that, I would only read what I myself would write. I also expect the authors I read not to try to force their beliefs on me as well. I was interested in the characters and how things would progress but then all of a sudden, Millie, our main character goes on and on and on about her (and I suspect the writer's) point of view on how our world is all one stream of consciousness that we form our world around us with our thoughts. I felt like I was reading an advertising brochure for a new age religious organization. I felt like I had an investment in these people and now that I was hooked I was being spoon fed the belief of the author. Take that chapter (and it seemed like it was a whole chapter) and pull it out of the book, I would have given it a 4 star, maybe even a five star review.
To be clear, I do not begrudge the author her point of view, not do I think she is a bad writer. As I said, I enjoyed much of the book. I do not remember why I picked this out of a list of books to look at, only that it looked interesting.
I could recommend this to people only with the understanding that it does become a recruitment for the author's beliefs.
Millie's Angel by Kim Petersen is the story of a family ripped apart by violence and abandonment. Told from Millie's perspective, it describes her journey from teen to adulthood without the one person that girls desperately need during that timeframe - her mother. However, this is also the story of a man who is inhabited by pure evil, although he can still cling to the light around his children. As the consequences of each person's choices come to light, the book races toward a chilling climax. Millie's Angel is part coming of age story, and part psychological thriller, with a dose of pure love thrown in.
This book was so engrossing that I could not put it down. The characters are well developed and complex, as is the entire storyline. It is not a feel-good, light hearted read, although there are some areas where that type of story is present as part of the overall story. It's really hard to define this unique book, because it doesn't fit into just one category. All I can say is I loved it, and I look forward to reading more of Kim Petersen's work. This is not a book suitable for those under 18 due to graphic violence and some explicit sex.
Haunting Look At The Struggle Between Good And Evil Oh, this is a very haunting piece that explains the essence of good and evil in the human psyche against the back drop of every day life. Wow! The story leaves quite a few story threads blowing in the wind of future sequels. I wish I had known that sooner. The story is complex and has so much food for thought that it isn’t a quick read. There are elements to the story that haunted my dreams so tender-hearts need to be cautious about choosing to read this novel. That is actually the only reason that I will not be reading any future sequels
Ok, what I loved: 1. the diversity of the tale, encompassing the entire family along the way together with friends. 2. The developement of the characters along the way. 3. the way the passage of time was dealt with! What i did not like so much: the religious aspect. Don't get me wrong, I do believe in a higher power but I found this a bit over powering, but, and this is a big but, it did fit in with the growth ond development of the tale!
I would recommend this to most fiction readers, especially those who enjoy the paranormal
Kim Petersen brings us a spiritual journey through the lives of four members of a family. A husband and two children were deserted by a wife who feared for her life. Emotions ranging from love to hate and the way each family member copes with changing circumstances. Good and evil can live together in the human psyche. Which will prevail?
While this was absolutely nothing like I was expecting, I could not stop reading it! Twists and turns, drama & agony. I did not read the 1st in the series- but it stands alone.
Amazing doesn't even justify this book! The personal level feel that comes from reading this book is pretty deep. Well written and just a wonderful read! I have to highly recommend this book!
The best thing about a good book, is the feeling of wanting to turn the page and see what happens next. That commitment to the character and their story. With Millie's Angel you want to turn the page, you want to be involved in each character's story and you especially want to know the answers to the questions that each chapter leaves you with. This book is a mystery, a love story and a story of growth, family, friends and strength. An outstanding novel where the passion of the author is present on each page. She will leave you wanting more.
Kim Petersen has woven a terrific tale of good vs evil. It is so well written it completely held my interest throughout the entire book. Although I must say that while reading the story I was torn with my emotions. It had me racing through so many different feelings - feelings of enlightenment, sadness and hope.
The character development was just incredible. I found myself hoping and praying for this family. Wishing for a happy ending.
I would recommend this book to others. I know I will be reading other books written by this talented author.
“I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.”
Demons are plaguing Millie's family in this urban fantasy/mysticism story of good vs evil. Told in a nicely descriptive style, the author takes great care to develop each character, does an excellent job of showing the passage of time, and keeps the reader inside the action. I received this book from eBook Discovery. This is my honest review.
A unique story on good VS evil - the two twining through a family saga during the main character's coming-of-age moments. Not an easy read, for the emotional turmoil some of the characters experience can be heartbreaking, but also engaging as each tries to "save" themselves. But as we know from life, not everyone can be "saved".
I absolutely loved this book. It had me entrenched from the very first page to the last. The travel of passage from a young age to the adult was well versed, and was so easy to follow. The story line covered some subjects which can touch the readers soul in a way that it could be yourself in their shoes. Maybe not to the extent of the evil in this particular story, but there is evil to a lesser degree that can be compared. I believe the angel side opens up your mind to look inside yourself as well. A well written book, I would recommend this to anyone.
I was captivated by the depth of the characters immediately. You will see evil and good which draws you in. Must read! The book is very relatable and reminds us that love and faith in ourselves is important.
