When love isn’t just worth the fight. It is the fight.

Max Black is many things to me.
A dangerous, compelling, notorious criminal.
The tortured boy who has shown me kindness for as long as I remember.
My father’s protégé and my step-mother’s ex.
Emotionally unavailable.
The only man I love, and the one I want in my bed.
His four little words light a fire so deep that I burn from the inside whenever I hear them. Lately, I hear them often.
‘Be very careful, Princess.’
I will never stop fighting for what is destined. Not until his troubled heart is mine.
***
I exist on the wrong side of right, and I do whatever it takes to survive.
In a soul so fractured with secrets and lies, Chloe Fox is the beautiful light to my darkness.
She’s my princess, the one I’m sworn to protect, and she must never discover why I can’t be hers.
She’s survived on my friendship, but now she wants everything, and my will is faltering.
I’ve always sacrificed to save her, and this is the most important save of all.
I have to save her from me.

I haven't hated or despised two main characters as much as I did these two in a long time!
If you like characters like this "hero" who slept with her stepmother and then later with her arch nemesis while she's in the house then you will love this book! As for "heroine" I can't remember the last time I read such a pathetic girl constantly running after him and throwing herself at him because she believes they are "fated". She had no fucking self respect and such a weak ass for him and everyone around her who didn't deserve her loyalty like her nasty stepmother and her equally nasty cheating deceased father! Will never EVER read this again!!!

Max Black is the head of a criminal empire. A filthy-mouthed, dirty talker whose only weakness is the little girl he rescued when she was three-years-old.
She's the one good thing in his life, untainted and pure, but she wants more than the bonds of protection and friendship he's blessed her with for fifteen years.
To the outside world Max is cold and aloof, but Chloe Fox sees beyond that to the broken boy inside, the troubled soul and damaged heart in desperate need of love.
She might be young and inexperienced, no match for a powerhouse like Max, but as the daughter of an infamous, murdered gangster, Chloe's seen more than she should.
There's a reason Max is determined to keep his distance, an explosive secret that will rip their world apart, and the only thing stronger than his steel will is the deepening desire he feels for his Princess.
He knows he shouldn't, he knows its wrong, but what happens when the crime lord begins to fall for the innocent girl he already loves?

Max Black is my favorite kind of filthy! A sexy, tattooed, dirty mouthed badass, and head of a criminal empire.

'There were more accurate words Leanne could have used to describe me, and I’d heard them all. ‘Cold’, ‘aloof’, ‘thoughtless’ and ‘heartless’, usually teamed with ‘w*nker’, ‘b*st*rd’ or ‘tw*t’ for added effect. Not that I cared. In my line of work, you needed a certain level of detachment, and I’d mastered the art through years of practice.'

And hot, did I mention hot!

‘Some girls just want to f*ck a wolf who isn’t afraid to bite’

Max makes no apology for who he is, and is fiercely loyal to the people he cares about, especially his ‘Princess’ Chloe. She’s his best friend, forbidden fruit, and Max fights hard to resist his overwhelming desires.

Eight years younger, Chloe is a sweet, virginal heroine who has always been in love with Max. The daughter of a murdered gangster she’s no stranger to tragedy, and no innocent where her thoughts are concerned.

'Max didn’t need to hear that he owned my heart. He knew it, and it hadn’t made a difference. Was I brave enough to swallow my shame and admit the truth in its entirety? I had to be. If I wanted Max to open up, I had to do the same. Crack open my soul and let the filth spill out.'

Max is hiding a secret, the reason Chloe is forbidden, but he can’t stay away. When desire overtakes logic, holy shit it’s hot! Sizzling sex and protective, possessive alpha phwoarsomeness on steroids!

'Our love had always been there, nurtured and cherished through years of friendship but never like this. This was ownership. Mine and hers. Raw, untamed and f*cking dangerous.'

Told from a dual POV, the characters are fleshed out and relatable, and the story focuses on a will they/ won’t they relationship that had me so intrigued I couldn’t put the book down. I thought the secondary characters were great, especially the hilarious Tricks.

'If Tricks thought there was a top-drawer slice of cock action at stake, he’d do whatever it took to find out who she was. “I’m not sleeping with her. That girl was Chloe.”

His legs shot from the table, and he bolted upright, staring at me hard with an idiotic grin on his face, rubbing his hands together like I’d just given him the classified security layout for the national branch of Barclay’s bank.

“Chloe? As in Princess Chloe? That was prissy student, pole-up-her-arse stiff Chloe? The girl you guard with your invisible lightsaber like she’s the most fragile creature in the entire universe.”
I wasn’t surprised he was shocked.
I’d always kept them apart and painted a picture that was less than flattering. With good reason.

I was rooting for Max and Chloe, they were amazing together and I was desperate for them to have their HEA but that ending. OMG. That ending!

There is a major plot twist I did not see coming when it’s revealed why Chloe is forbidden. I’m breathless, tearful and on the edge of my seat for book two. No spoilers here because this is one book where I would recommend going in totally blind.

Good start....

Never read this author before but forbidden love is a favorite trope of mine and this was certainly a take on it I've never read. It's mixed in with a criminal family and danger and our h, Chloe is the daughter of a man now dead, another crime lord, and Max is the street boy her father taught all the ropes to before his passing.

Max has made a lot of enemies, spent time in prison, is beyond his years for being 26. He owns a club, in some ways he's a pimp, but not really, he just gives consenting women a safe place to make money.

If you've ever read Kristin Ashley's Knight, this almost had a UK feel to it, but in no way is it the same, including the romance, Its just the theme I'm pointing out. I liked it. I like dark heroes. Anti heroes, whatever place you want to put them and once these 2 get going there's no stop. Max will do whatever it takes to keep Chloe safe and when he finally falls it's pretty epic, lol.

There's some nasty players in this book, her so called stepmother you meet right off the bat and she's a crummy piece of you know what. We learn a lot about her because she plays a big part in the drama of Max. Not just our h.

Definitely a cliffhanger. A big one, but a series I'll continue to read. Good first read for me by this author.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!! Everything about the start to this series hits you in all the right places. Chloe Fox (“Princess”) seems as innocent as you can get, except for the fact that she was raised by Alec Fox a very well respected drug lord. Max Black, the man that held the key to her heart took over her father’s criminal empire when he got out of prison. She’s waited 15 years to turn 18 and live happily ever after, but things are a lot harder because Max is emotionally unavailable. Max has always protected his princess from harm, but now he has to sacrifice his feelings and save her from him. This is such an amazing start, and it’s full of emotion, suspense, and everything we love about these types of books ;) It’s filthy, hot, passionate, and a major plot twist that will keep you on edge. I can’t wait to see how the story continues for Max & his Princess. I did receive this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I can't get enough of LJ Dee's writing, and this book series is definitely going to be my new favorite!!!!!!

Max and Princess for the win! Absolutely loved this book! It managed to be edgy, spicy, definitely hot and sweet at the same time. The backstory/relationships between the characters was also unusual and made for a lot of natural conflict/plot tension, which kept me turning the page. There seems to be a welcome trend in romance these days of exploring character motivation beyond the inevitable build up to a romantic scene. I'm thrilled by this and this book is a great example of when this is done correctly. Aside fro being entertaining I think the characters in this noel are the result of an author who must be particularly good at observing people and human nature. I would also add that I think this author may be my new favorite as far as dialogue is concerned. Amazing interchange between the characters, very authentic and perfect for keeping you completely in the story. These felt like old, sexy friends lol. A sexy romance for the thinking reader! Well done!

One of the things I love about Goodreads is discovering new authors! And I'm so happy I joined one of the groups and was fortunate enough to read an advance copy of L.J. Dee's "Forbidden." I can usually finish a book in a matter of hours. But reading this gem of a book took longer because every single sentence was beautifully written! Right from the beginning I knew this story was going to be good. I was wrong. This was fantastic. LJ's Chloe and Max took me to an amazing journey, filled with childhood longing, sexy moments, shock, betrayal and all the wonderful components of a great read! I love a good slow burn and this did not disappoint. I can't wait to read the second book!

So this book was a conundrum for me. When I first started reading it, I just could not get into it. But with that being said I also could not stop! It had just enough going for it that I could not put it down and I am glad that I kept going!

Max Black is everybody's dream bad boy. He is The leader of a criminal empire, anything good or bad he's got his hands in. He's an arrogant, filthy-mouthed, sexy as hell, tattooed bada** with eyes for only one girl. Chloe Fox. Max rescued Chloe when she was three years old and their relationship blossomed from there. Max became her protector and best friend. His devotion and loyalty knowing no bounds where she was concerned. She is the only bright spot in his life of corruption. His pure, untainted "Princess." Chloe however wants more out of their relationship. She is eight years younger than Max, having had a crush on him for fifteen years that she is now ready to act on. Max however holds a secret that could rip their world apart, making her his forbidden fruit. He tries to deny their chemistry and his overwhelming desire but he just can't stay away.

The reason for my three star rating is simply for the fact of how young and naive Chloe acted at times. Yes, I know she was young and somewhat sheltered in the story. It's all part of the innocence and purity of her character, but I prefer my female heroins to be more mature and somewhat less sensitive. What she lacked in maturity she made up for in love and loyalty. She was also downright hilarious at times with her colorful word usage!

Daddy dom story done well… can’t wait to see where this goes!

Title: Forbidden
Author: L.J. Dee
Series: The Princess Trilogy
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Chloe Fox’s hero is Max Black - ever since she was three, and he was eleven and he joined her father’s crew of various criminals. Their relationship started as friends; Max doted on the young Chloe, acting as her confidant, her friend, her protector… but lately Chloe’s feelings have been very different. The boy who protected her, who sacrificed for her, became a man, a man that Chloe feels she is destined to be with in every sense of the word. All she needs to do is make Max see her as woman, instead of a naive girl.

Max has known Chloe has a crush on him, and he thinks Chloe will grow out of it - but after a brief trip away, Max comes back to find Chloe is indeed a desirable, sexy woman - but one he can’t ever have. There is too much between them - their friendship, Max’s former relationship with Chloe’s stepmother, and of course the things Max has done and the secrets he keeps. Chloe deserves so much better… only who could love Chloe, Max’s Princess Chloe, more than him?

Even once Max gives in, they still have to figure out how they work as a couple - which apparently their knight-and-princess dynamic translates into some HAWT daddy dom play. I mean it was totallyyyy well done. It was explained really well by a friend (and former lover) of Max’s:

“All submissives need time to develop, and relationships flourish with commitment. For a Daddy Dom, it’s even more intense and demanding. We might be grown ass women, but we’re little girls at heart, sensitive souls who need to be cherished. It’s not just a dynamic that revolves around sex; it's mentoring, development, rules and reprimands, cuddles and fun. It’s everything. Could you honestly handle that level of devotion?”

However there is more than just sex at work - Max’s criminal business dealings are under pressure from a new law presence, and of course there is that ever-looming secret that only gets revealed in the last few pages .

Where this story fell short for me was the external conflict - the first half of the book is all about the tension between Max and Chloe, their internal struggle. There was brief mention of Max’s business dealings, and foreshadowing of future conflict with the top-secret-very-big-secret-doom-and-gloom-secret but it doesn’t actually ever get resolved. There were points where I was like, ok give me so ACTION, or something besides internal angst. So this book felt like a placeholder in a series rather than a complete novel. Just be warned, and keep in mind that this is a trilogy and this ends on a cliff hanger.

Overall, I definitely recommend it, and I excitedly await the next one!

Favorite Quote:
“You’ve known terror and heartache, the most important people ripped from your life, suddenly, painfully, without rhyme or reason. You want a deep connection with the man you love and the reassurance of animalistic protection. When the little girl inside you feels insecure, I hear the word Daddy because you need to feel safe. That word reminds you that you’re the centre of my world and that no other girl comes close. It’s not weird to hear you say it. It’s an honour and a gift that you look to my experience and trust me to deliver.”

I was a little skeptical going into this book and boy was I wrong. I loved it! It had me laughing out loud more than once. I didn't like that it ended in a major cliffhanger and now I have to wait to see what happens. At times I felt Chloe was a little to needy and insecure but hey she just turned 18.
Some of my favorite parts of the book that had me laughing so much was when Max and Tricks were talking.

I will be waiting for the next book to come out for sure!!!

Max & Chloe's story....

Max Black is straight up an asshole fighting his forever with every dirty thing he can....
Chloe Fox is in love with her best friend, just trying to get to her forever....

I LOVED IT!!! But then again I love the un-redeemable dominate, dirty talking, badass, gangster assholes, that turn around and treat their forever's like a "princess"....
Chloe may come across as a doormat at times but damn let me tell you that chic is definitely NOT ONE!!!

So yea if you like those kinds of characters then this is definitely a must read, but if you don't then oh well your missing out on a GREAT READ!!!!

On to the next book I go....

This was my first book by LJ Dee and I really enjoyed it, can't wait to read the rest of the series. I thought Max the hero was great, even though he could be very scary when it came to Chloe he was puddy. Having rescued her at a very young age he wanted nothing more then to shelter her from the world and protect her, even from him. Chloe on the other bothered me, she was just to much to take at certain points in this book but, she was so devoted to Max and decided that no matter what it takes he will hers.

I received an ARC in exchange for honest review.

This book was quite a mixture of emotions for me. Starting from the crazy love between the leads to the portrayal of the female lead to be weak.

This book was a rollercoaster ride with all the emotions going everywhere. The climax was kind of obvious which I figured quite early in the book but I kept reading as I was hoping for some other twist. For me, the weak female lead was a bit too weak but then again it feels more realistic.

The dominance of Max was actually quite cute with Chloe.

Overall this book is good for reading at least once.

I was given a e-copy of this book for an honest review.

When I started reading this book I was like 'I have read this stuff somewhere before.....'
Well maybe I have spend a lot of time on Wattpad.

But this story wasn't really something new. I have seen many Hindi movies with much of the same story.
I did not liked Chloe.
Like not at all.
She talks of being an adult woman when she acts like a over hormonal preteen.
She sounded so desperate to have sex with Max that it annoyed me to hell.
And at the same time she acted so innocent!
Max was bearable.

The story was in dual perspective, shifting between Chloe and Max.

Now all the problem was with the characters and the cliche-ish plot but other than that the story was amazing. No matter how annoying I found the characters I read this one to the end in a go.
And God that ending.
I need the next book.

Sorry sorry, I need to tell the summary of course.
So Chloe's father was an underworld don.
Max worked for him before Chloe's dad was murdered.
Max and Chloe have always been very close, Max referring to her as his"princess"(OH SO CUTE!!!)
Now that Chloe turns eighteen she desires Max but there is something stopping him.
There is a reason that makes Chloe forbidden.
Hard to admit but I actually enjoyed this book.
Tiny tiny bit.
This one was a guilty pleasure.

3 stars.

Forbidden: The Princess Trilogy #1
L.J. Dee

Will forbidden love become forever love?

Yes I liked this book. Yes I gave it 3/5 stars but there's a reason. One I rarely give 5/5 stars and two it lost another star for the ending.

Loved the forbiddenness (is that a word?) of their romance. Yes there was an age difference of what like 7 years or so, and she just turned 18 like 24 hours before they got together. The way he loved her from when he met her not creepy at all a big brother kind of love and how protective of Chloe he was was adorable. Chloe was a little annoying at times. I guess it was okay for her age.

I knew he was done for when he threw her over his shoulders at the club. I'm surprised it took him so long. Max was a huge asshole the entire time though I can't believe he would get her school mate. Urg. I was so done with him. The hotel weekend was over the top for me. Like too much too soon but the Daddy Dom coming out of Max was 5/5 in my book.

That aspect of the story was very well written its definitely not an age thing it's just the way the Daddy Dom takes care of his Little Girl and L.J. Dee got that perfectly.

Again I didn't like the ending. I sort of saw that confession coming a couple of chapters before but I was hoping the author would lead us in another direction but no. I guess I have to read the next one to see what happens. Not just that but also for Daddy Dom Max!!!

Hmmm.... this book starts out as a modernized Cinderella tale, morphs into Lolita, then Beauty and the Beast with some Fifty Shades of Grey thrown in for good measure. It may be book one of The Princess Trilogy, but it is no fairytale.

I can get down with some kink, and I can look past our heroine's desire to call our hero "daddy" but I'm not fond of it mixed with the fact that he IS actually a father figure to her. Having a man be attracted to a woman he held as a three year old toddler just doesn't do it for me. It creeps me out.

I did not like either the hero or heroine of our story. The former is a criminal who gets off on calling a woman a s*ut, while he's the biggest one of all and the latter is a spineless git who's more obsessed with the chase than with actually seeing the man she's chasing. Because believe me, there's not much good there, despite the fact that she keeps telling him how good he is.

If you're into chicks with daddy issues and men who equate pain with sex, then this is the novel for you but I did not like it at all. Though the writing was decent, I saw the big "twist" a mile away and I just had to work to finish it.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Honestly? I wanted to like it, but it just fell short for me.

L.J. Dee is a new author to me, and I was hooked from page one, as her writing is seamless, playful and capturing. She has a skill with words that makes you feel like you know the characters, and enjoy reading as they continue to develop and interact.
"Forbidden" (The Princess Trilogy #1) delighted and mesmerized me with the character play between Chloe and Max. Chloe aka Princess begins her story described as a shy, innocent woman who lives in a world tormented by her step mother. Whereas the lead male, Max, is to depicted to all as a sexy lustful man with many talents in life and women, who normally knows what he wants and how to get it! Chloe though has secretly has always been in love with Max, and when she finds out that he might have similar feelings, the struggles between their previous relationship as Princess and Protector, begin to excitingly blur. L.J. Dee expertly takes us on their journey as they try to find a way to each other, in and out of the bedroom so to speak, or hallway or......
"Forbidden" is a great read for anyone looking to step outside the clean romance genre and enjoy some naughtiness.

While I was a bit wary of the "princess" title... I think the book more than made up for it.

"Princess" was her given nickname but beyond the nick, she wasn't much of a princess. Chloe was more a pushover and people pleaser more than anything. Quite strange considering her upbringing but well, the author made it believable.

Chloe has always loved Max but he has always kept his distance for many of his own reasons and secrets. But now that she is about to be legal, she hatches a plan to get Max to see her as a woman versus a little girl. Seeing that she is so naive, she plans does not go to plan.

Max has been trying to keep his distance but Chloe has a special pull on him. He tries his best to avoid her and the feelings but sometimes cannot be planned for.

As both of them explore their feelings and make decisions that will change their life - there seems to be one hidden secret that might drive them apart? or will they get thru the hurdles?

I received a copy for an honest review. I went back and forth on this book and in the end I can say I enjoyed it. It is a good read for those who love the dom novels. Some of the language was a little annoying to me and I found it hard to move past the age difference and father-type relationship they have before she becomes of age which was why I didn't LOVE it. It was well written and I found it to be more realistic than many of the books I've read in this genre which was refreshing. Overall I can say I'd recommend it.

Rating would have been much higher if the 3rd book was available!! Without it, there's no ending and I despise cliffhangers. Last update for release was 2017. If that's how its left I'll never read this author again

4 “Be very careful, Princess.” Stars!
Max and Chloe have been in each other's lives since she was 3 years old, he was already working for her Father boosting cars but I'm going to skip forward to Chloe being emotionally blackmailed onto the stage in one of his strip clubs by her c*nt of a step-mother. Max see's her onstage, her face hidden, and he's sexually drawn to her (Hot freaking scene btw) he ends up rushing the stage and getting her the hell out of there. Chloe's done waiting, Max wants to fight it but everyone know's that a princess always gets their own way with their Daddy.
(Don't worry, no shared DNA ;))

I received this book to review it. It's a good read and I do recommend it. The story line was good, it had the emotions all over the place. Chloe is portrayed as someone who is weak but I feel like she just loved the man that much. Their feelings for each other and the story line were very realistic to me. It's not easy finding that in books now where there is a dom and submissive in the story. Over all it's a good read. One that kept me reading to the end.
