Negan and Rick killing time holed up inside a house together was unexpected, but awesome!! Negan gets personal about his past and his wife, and I'm really hoping the Rick and Negan bromance will blossom in the upcoming issues! I'm up for that :) I still have a bad feeling about Eugene; something's going to happen to that guy pretty soon, I can feel it!

So after everything Rick's group has done for the Saviours, they aren't going to help him, but they are going to sit back and pick the city's carcasses? That's disgusting.

Alexandria has finally fallen. The walls that everyone trusted for safety have been breached, forcing Rick and the rest of the community to retreat while other groups desperately try to lure thousands of walkers away before the entire settlement is consumed. At this point, the battle is no longer about winning against the Whisperers—it has become a desperate fight to simply survive long enough to reclaim what remains of Alexandria. Looking at the cover before reading the issue, I already had a feeling that Alexandria would not come out of this battle untouched. The real question now isn't whether they can stop the walkers, but whether there will still be a community left to save once the fighting finally ends.
The issue opens as Maggie, Carl, Lydia, and the remaining survivors from the Hilltop finally arrive outside Alexandria, only to witness a heartbreaking sight. The community has already been overrun by an enormous herd of walkers. The once secure walls have failed, and the streets are filled with the dead. Carl immediately fears the worst for Rick, but Lydia reassures him that seeing Alexandria overrun does not necessarily mean his father is dead. Maggie agrees, encouraging Carl not to lose hope before they know the full situation.
Before they have much time to process everything, Michonne and Jesus arrive after continuing to help redirect portions of the massive herd. Without hesitation, Maggie and Dante volunteer to join them and help lure more walkers away from Alexandria. Carl wants to ride with them and help in the battle, but Maggie refuses. She reminds him that he is not experienced enough on horseback for such a dangerous mission. Instead, she gives him a responsibility that is just as important. She instructs him to inform Brianna of the plan, remain at their position, keep watch over the area, and most importantly, protect Hershel if the situation deteriorates further. Although disappointed, Carl agrees to follow her orders.
Inside Alexandria itself, Rick and Negan continue fleeing through streets completely occupied by walkers. Rick tells Negan to run ahead and open a nearby house so they can escape the approaching herd. Negan does exactly that, pulling the door open before waiting for Rick to catch up. Rick struggles to reach the house, even begging Negan not to leave him behind. Negan waits until Rick makes it inside before slamming the door shut behind them.
After catching their breath, Negan jokingly asks Rick if he seriously believed he would lock him outside and let the walkers kill him. He points out that many of the others had panicked and ran straight past him without looking back, while he chose to stay behind and save Rick instead. Rick says nothing. Negan remarks that perhaps the two of them are actually more alike than either of them wants to admit and that they probably should have gotten along much better. Rick immediately shuts that idea down, telling him that opportunity disappeared a long time ago.
Outside, Andrea continues sounding the community's horn in an effort to pull more walkers away from Alexandria. Magna and Yumiko arrive to support her efforts as they continue risking their lives to reduce the size of the herd.
Meanwhile, Connie remains bedridden while recovering from losing her hand during the Hilltop battle. Hearing the distant noise outside, she asks Kelly what is happening, but Kelly calmly reassures her that everything is under control, clearly trying to spare Connie additional stress while she continues recovering.
Elsewhere, Siddiq and Annie temporarily shelter inside Eugene's house. While waiting, they notice Eugene's radio equipment sitting on the table—a quiet reminder that somewhere beyond all this chaos, Eugene has successfully made contact with another surviving community through Stephanie.
Back inside the house where Rick and Negan have taken refuge, the two men unexpectedly begin one of the most personal conversations they've ever shared. Negan asks Rick what the worst thing he has ever done is. Rick initially tells him to leave him alone, but eventually admits that the worst thing he's ever done was surviving while so many better people died around him. The guilt of outliving friends, family, and countless innocent people continues to haunt him.
Negan surprisingly agrees with Rick's feelings. He reflects on how watching so many weak people die slowly changed him over time. Eventually, he stopped seeing people as individuals and instead viewed everyone as weak. That twisted mindset made it easier for him to brutally murder others without remorse. He openly admits that what he did was wrong and credits Rick for forcing him to finally confront the monster he had become. Negan explains that this is why he willingly remained inside his prison cell for years, why he returned with Alpha's head instead of joining the Whisperers, and why he chose to save Rick's life. Finally, he reveals what he considers the worst thing he has ever done—not the countless murders, but abandoning his wife Lucille after she died because he couldn't bring himself to put her down himself. It is an incredibly vulnerable confession that strips away almost every layer of the confident, sarcastic persona he usually hides behind.
Elsewhere, Eugene and Heath continue successfully pulling portions of the herd away from Alexandria. Heath compliments Eugene's remarkable ability to predict walker behavior and maneuver them safely. Eugene modestly explains that walkers are actually very simple creatures once someone pays enough attention to them. He even credits Rick for creating a society stable enough that allowed him to spend time studying instead of constantly fighting to survive. Heath admits that riding horses during dangerous missions has helped him rediscover his confidence after losing his leg, making him feel useful again despite his disability. The two decide to immediately return and lure away even more walkers.
Dwight and Laura continue coordinating another diversion. Dwight instructs Laura to deliberately fire her gun despite the obvious danger. She worries they'll only attract more walkers, but Dwight insists that drawing walkers away from Alexandria is worth the risk. As expected, the gunfire successfully redirects another portion of the herd toward them. Soon afterward, they encounter Andrea, Magna, Yumiko, Eugene, and Heath, all working together to continue pulling the enormous herd farther away from the community.
Back inside Alexandria, Negan notices that the number of walkers outside the house has begun to thin. Rick stands and insists that he needs to contribute instead of hiding indoors. Negan immediately refuses, arguing that Rick is in no condition to fight. Instead, Negan volunteers to go outside himself while Rick covers him from the doorway. He even jokes that Rick should only shoot him if he still believes he deserves it. Once again, Rick remains silent, and Negan remarks how unbelievable it is that they are now fighting side by side rather than trying to kill one another.
Meanwhile, Carl decides that waiting any longer is no longer an option. Believing Alexandria still needs every available fighter, he orders the Hilltop survivors around him to gather their weapons because it is finally time to join the battle. Watching Carl step forward, Lydia quietly smiles, clearly proud of the confidence and leadership he is beginning to show.
Far away at the Sanctuary, Tara continues speaking with John. Looking toward Alexandria through binoculars, John concludes that the battle appears to be nearing its end. He confidently tells Tara that they should begin packing because in only a few hours they can move in and claim whatever remains of Alexandria once both the Whisperers and Rick's people have weakened each other.
Seeing Maggie, Carl, Lydia, and the Hilltop survivors arrive only to find Alexandria completely overrun was honestly heartbreaking. After everything the survivors sacrificed to build those walls and create a real home, watching it consumed by walkers made it feel like years of progress had disappeared in a single day. I liked that Maggie didn't waste time mourning what she saw. Instead, she immediately shifted into action and volunteered to help Michonne and Jesus continue redirecting the herd. That kind of leadership is exactly why so many people continue trusting her.
I completely agree with Maggie's decision to keep Carl away from the mounted missions. Carl obviously wants to help, and I respect that he never wants to stand by while others fight for him. However, bravery alone isn't enough in a battle of this scale. Maggie understood that Carl's responsibility was protecting Hershel and organizing the people left behind if Alexandria completely collapsed. Sometimes leadership means accepting the role you're given rather than chasing the one you want. I just kept hoping Carl wouldn't ignore Maggie's instructions like he has done several times before.
For a split second, I genuinely thought Negan might betray Rick by closing the door before Rick reached the house. Given everything that's happened between them, I don't think anyone would have blamed Rick for expecting the worst. Instead, Negan waited, saved Rick, and even questioned why Rick still expected betrayal. I do disagree with one thing Negan said, though. He criticized the others for running past him, but I don't think that's entirely fair. Those people were terrified, surrounded by thousands of walkers, and acting purely on instinct. Panic makes people miss things they normally wouldn't. Negan remained calm because that's simply the kind of person he is under pressure, but expecting everyone else to react the same way feels unrealistic.
The conversation between Rick and Negan was easily my favorite part of this issue. It didn't feel like two enemies talking—it felt like two broken men finally admitting the emotional scars they've carried for years. Rick's confession that surviving has become one of his greatest burdens was incredibly powerful because it reflects something he's struggled with since the very beginning of the series. Meanwhile, hearing Negan openly admit that abandoning Lucille hurt him more than anything else genuinely surprised me. It doesn't erase the horrific things he has done, but it adds another layer to his character that makes him feel far more human than the ruthless dictator we first met.
The groups outside Alexandria deserve just as much recognition. Eugene, Heath, Dwight, Andrea, Laura, Magna, Yumiko, and everyone else have been risking their lives nonstop without any guarantee they'll survive. Every pass they make through the herd buys Alexandria a little more time, but every trip also increases the chance that someone won't come back. I couldn't stop worrying that one wrong turn, a hidden Whisperer, or even an ambush from the Sanctuary could completely destroy everything they've been working toward.
Carl deciding to gather the remaining Hilltop fighters also left me conflicted. On one hand, I admire his determination to help rather than simply wait in safety. On the other hand, introducing even more movement around Alexandria could accidentally draw additional walkers back toward the community just as everyone else is trying to lure them away. His intentions are good, but whether this decision helps or complicates the situation remains to be seen.

My favorite comic series of all time.The best story and best characters ever created in my opinion.The journey Rick and company have been on is astounding.I never want this series to end.

This is a review of the entire series.
Rick Grimes is a strong-willed deputy who missed the end of the world because he was in a coma for a month after getting shot in the line of duty. Shaken, starving and confused, Rick escapes the horror of the abandoned hospital only to be met with something far more terrible. Not only has the world ended, but the dead have learned to walk and to kill without mercy. After learning that his wife and son have fled to Atlanta from a single survivor and his son, Rick goes on a journey to reunite with his family and search for more survivors.
Rick quickly has to come to terms with the fact that the world has ended and only a select few survived. The dead have risen from their graves and they prey on the living. In a world where every minute feels like hours, where there's no such thing as law and order, where finding a small meal is a tremendous task, the walking dead are quite possibly the least threatening thing for the survivors to have on their breaking minds. Humanity is pushed to the brink of destruction, forcing them to embrace their cruel and primal nature in order to survive. Sometimes you have to be more concerned about who you let into your community so they don't kill you in your sleep and steal everything you once cared about. Rick has no choice but to abandon the ways of law and order that he's upheld as an officer for so long in order to protect the few loved ones he has left. He has to become a monster to protect his crew or risk being devoured by those who became more monstrous than him and even the walking dead.
Despite zombies running the world and having the series named after them, what really sets this series apart from the average zombie apocalypse tale is the focus on realism and the daily struggles, flaws and depth of the characters. There's plenty of badass zombie killing action, but the action often takes a back seat to give the characters plenty of times to share their extremely tragic yet endearing stories, grow through mutual suffering and learn to adapt to a world that has left them to die. Even after the world has ended, many people still can't see eye to eye. They turn on each other and kill each other when they should come together. Others form alliances in spite of their differences and try to rebuild over the corpse of everything that was lost. The daily human drama and conflict is more intense than any monster apocalypse could hope to be.
We watch Rick struggle to balance his old moral code with the many necessary evils he has to commit in order to survive and make the world a better place for the ones he holds close. We watch people like Glen, Dale and Maggie attempt to find love in spite of having every reason to be filled with fear, hate and self-loathing. Characters like Michonne have to learn how to forgive themselves and convince themselves they deserve to be loved despite all the blood on their hands. We watch the weak like Carl and Andrea become strong and sometimes the strong become evil like The Governor. Even monsters like the wicked yet oddly lovable Negan are given the chance to find new ways of redeeming themselves by struggling alongside the other survivors that have all been changed by the horrors of the fallen world.
The pacing is extremely slow and I can understand why that may be a turnoff for a lot of people, but I eventually learned to enjoy watching the characters grow, overcome their trauma, find meaning in life and learn to love again. The characters are forced to do many terrible things to survive and it haunts them every waking moment. The ways they overcome these regrets is very realistic, human and hopeful. The slow pacing really gives the feeling that we're living beside these people. The way every tiny detail of their lives and who they are is explored makes them feel very real and believable.
When I first started reading the series, I wasn't expecting it to have such an uplifting ending. It seemed so bleak and nihilistic for a long time and things would go horribly wrong even when they seemed to be going so well, but the finale channels all the pain, suffering and betrayal of the previous volumes and tops it off with a very touching and inspiring finish. This was never a story about hopelessness. It's about learning to appreciate the little things, learning to forgive yourself and learning to move on even when it's hard. When everything seems lost there's always more to be found, even when we believe otherwise because we convince ourselves that we don't deserve to be happy ever again. Instead of dwelling on what was lost, strive to try and make things better than they were before.
I've never been a huge fan of zombie apocalypse stories, but The Walking Dead had enough heart and strong social commentary to make me stick by the characters until the end and I enjoyed every moment of their long trial.

Rick Grimes is a strong-willed deputy who missed the end of the world because he was in a coma for a month after getting shot in the line of duty. Shaken, starving and confused, Rick escapes the horror of the abandoned hospital only to be met with something far more terrible. Not only has the world ended, but the dead have learned to walk and to kill without mercy. After learning that his wife and son have fled to Atlanta from a single survivor and his son, Rick goes on a journey to reunite with his family and search for more survivors.
Rick quickly has to come to terms with the fact that the world has ended and only a select few survived. The dead have risen from their graves and they prey on the living. In a world where every minute feels like hours, where there's no such thing as law and order, where finding a small meal is a tremendous task, the walking dead are quite possibly the least threatening thing for the survivors to have on their breaking minds. Humanity is pushed to the brink of destruction, forcing them to embrace their cruel and primal nature in order to survive. Sometimes you have to be more concerned about who you let into your community so they don't kill you in your sleep and steal everything you once cared about. Rick has no choice but to abandon the ways of law and order that he's upheld as an officer for so long in order to protect the few loved ones he has left. He has to become a monster to protect his crew or risk being devoured by those who became more monstrous than him and even the walking dead.
Despite zombies running the world and having the series named after them, what really sets this series apart from the average zombie apocalypse tale is the focus on realism and the daily struggles, flaws and depth of the characters. There's plenty of badass zombie killing action, but the action often takes a back seat to give the characters plenty of times to share their extremely tragic yet endearing stories, grow through mutual suffering and learn to adapt to a world that has left them to die. Even after the world has ended, many people still can't see eye to eye. They turn on each other and kill each other when they should come together. Others form alliances in spite of their differences and try to rebuild over the corpse of everything that was lost. The daily human drama and conflict is more intense than any monster apocalypse could hope to be.
We watch Rick struggle to balance his old moral code with the many necessary evils he has to commit in order to survive and make the world a better place for the ones he holds close. We watch people like Glen, Dale and Maggie attempt to find love in spite of having every reason to be filled with fear, hate and self-loathing. Characters like Michonne have to learn how to forgive themselves and convince themselves they deserve to be loved despite all the blood on their hands. We watch the weak like Carl and Andrea become strong and sometimes the strong become evil like The Governor. Even monsters like the wicked yet oddly lovable Negan are given the chance to find new ways of redeeming themselves by struggling alongside the other survivors that have all been changed by the horrors of the fallen world.
The pacing is extremely slow and I can understand why that may be a turnoff for a lot of people, but I eventually learned to enjoy watching the characters grow, overcome their trauma, find meaning in life and learn to love again. The characters are forced to do many terrible things to survive and it haunts them every waking moment. The ways they overcome these regrets is very realistic, human and hopeful. The slow pacing really gives the feeling that we're living beside these people. The way every tiny detail of their lives and who they are is explored makes them feel very real and believable.
When I first started reading the series, I wasn't expecting it to have such an uplifting ending. It seemed so bleak and nihilistic for a long time and things would go horribly wrong even when they seemed to be going so well, but the finale channels all the pain, suffering and betrayal of the previous volumes and tops it off with a very touching and inspiring finish. This was never a story about hopelessness. It's about learning to appreciate the little things, learning to forgive yourself and learning to move on even when it's hard. I'm glad that Maggie and Lydia tried to keep Carl calm. The last thing anyone needs is him going off half cocked and getting himself and/or someone else killed because he thinks that his father is dead, when we all know that he isn't.
I like that they all swapped info, and then how Maggie protected Carl, and was able to help him feel useful at the same time as she asked him to watch Hershel for her. It will also help to keep him busy and out of trouble, and worrying about his Dad.
Negan's whole speech felt like it was just a way to distract Rick, and to also annoy him. I agree with Rick when he said that the ship had sailed, for him and Negan to ever get along. Especially not after he killed Glenn and Abraham. I kinda wish that Negan would get the hint and quit trying to get Rick's forgiveness, if that's even what he's after.
I'm glad that Andrea has more help with the herd now. I know that Michonne's there to help her, but who's the other person on the horse behind the brunette? Is that Jesus? I think that it is, but I'm just not sure, since I couldn't see their face.
Those two couples that are safe in the houses need to be more worried about what's on the other side of the doors and windows, than they are about what Eugene and anyone else has or doesn't have in their fucking house.
I can't tell from the image, who the woman is that's giving the speech. On the one hand, she sort of looks like Michonne, but I know that it's not her, because she's out on a horse and trying to help the others lead the walkers away.
I don't believe for a minute, that Negan and Rick would actually be safe in that house or building or whatever it is that they're currently inside of. That huge window doesn't offer much in the way of hiding places, and that would mean they would easily be seen by the walkers, which would then in turn, cause the walkers to break the glass to get them.
Well, we got some more of Negan's background but I still don't feel sorry for the guy. Sure, I'm sorry that his wife died. But I'm only sorry for her, and not for him. Whatever psychotic flip was switched inside of him when his wife died, lets just say that he needs to get a damn grip.
Eugene and Heath's conversation makes hope that they're gonna be close friends soon. With how they said they both feel useless while being around the Rick's and Andrea's of the world, and how them working the herd of walkers makes them feel useful. I just hope they don't let their guard down and get hurt.
Dwight and that woman, I don't agree with their plan to fire off a few shots. I mean, I know that they're trying to help and lead the walkers away from Alexandria, but what they're doing, it's a good way to get trapped and end up getting killed by all the damn fucking walkers in the herd.
Like I said before, I'd never be able to handle being around that many walkers and not freak the hell out. There's like, thousands of walkers that they're trying to lead away from Alexandria. I'm glad that there's a little group of riders working on helping, but still. Thousands of walkers against like what, 4 or 5 humans? They'll need a lot of luck.
Honestly, I'd rather have a group of 10 humans trying to work the herd away from the community. The small groups that they have, I just don't like it and I don't think they could handle the size of the current herd, no matter how experienced they are.
I really don't like the idea of Rick and Negan working together. I'd rather have Negan go out and thin out the pile of walkers at the door, and once he gets back, have Rick kill him. Just saying, I'd rather have Rick kill Negan and keep him from killing more people.

I'm fascinated by the relationship developing between Negan and Rick. It's especially interesting to read this in conjunction with the serialized Negan story in Image+ where we are starting to see how Negan got to be the way he is. I'm still not convinced Negan isn't a sociopath. I'm just not sure you could commit such atrocities and come back from it. If you really started to see the reality of the kinds of things you'd done, I'd think the only logical thing to do would be to kill yourself. Or become a monk. I do like what Kirkman is trying to do here, but I'd be curious if the kind of psychological damage Negan would have done to himself along the way was reversible. Sitting in a cell thinking for two years is not going to repair that damage.

Great issue. Alexandria is still overrun with what seems like millions of walkers. We learn more about Negan's past and what makes him tick. Him and Rick are actually working together. Mystery group is still watching the events unfold. If I have to venture a guess, I think this is Jadis and the heapsters. I hope the tv show doesn't skip the Whisperers War but it seems as if they might or at least doing things out of order.

This wasn't a mind-blowing, heart pumping, white knuckled issue. But it was good. Very good. There were lots of little moments that are building to something, lots of nuggets of character interaction and development that I so appreciate from this series. I found it very satisfying, and I can't wait for the next issue.

Somewhere along the way, I have found myself respecting Negan. Although he has done some seriously messed-up morally reprehensible acts, this issue shows that he is indeed human with his own regrets.

Maggie and the hilltop survivors head towards Alexandria, only to see it completely overrun.
Yet another great issue in this arc. As Maggie and company try to find out how to assist in leading the herd away from Alexandria, we get to watch as Rick and Negan try working together as a team. Comic book gold right there! It’s interesting to see how similar they are and how Negan is showing more of his human side. Whether this hurts or helps him is anyone’s guess. I just know that I can’t get enough of it and I really want to see Rick start trusting him. Can’t wait for the next issue.

Now that Alexandria is overrun by walkers the teams work to lead them away and when they thin out Negan and Rick team up to whip some walker ass. It's no wonder The Walking Dead is a legendary series, it truly deserves all the praise it can get. I love The Walking Dead and it's style. It's wonderful and I love the journey taken with Rick and the group as they roam the wasteland in search of life and stability.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
