Five Years Later Set has been vanquished, but victory demanded a bitter price. The First Ark's detonation flung the new Ark Lords five years into the future. They emerge into a world ruled by deathless, demons, and old things that have awoken from the sleep of ages. Hades and the mysterious Grey Men have paved the way for the return of the Builders, slowly conquering the world. Only one part of their plan remains, seizing control of the Proto-Ark rumored to lay somewhere deep in the Amazonian jungle. Hades sends his demonic enforcer, Nox, once known as the Director, to claim their prize. If they succeed, the invasion of the Builders will finally begin. Only the trio of returning Ark Lords has a prayer of stopping Nox, but they face problems of their own. Blair and Liz arrive in Northern California to find Angel Island deserted, and San Francisco controlled by a kingdom of deathless. Jordan and Trevor return to Peru where werewolves have founded a new religion worshiping the Mother. A religion that preaches that Trevor is the ancient enemy and must be destroyed. Only Jordan can save him, if he can finally learn to trust an old enemy. Win or lose, the Builders are coming. They need an army. They need The Great Pack.
By day I am an iPhone developer architecting the app used to scope Stephen Colbert’s ear. By night I am Batman. Ok maybe not. One can dream though, right?
I’ve been writing since I was six years old and started inflicting my work on others at age 18. By age 24 people stopped running away when I approached them with a new story and shortly thereafter I published my first one in the Rifter.
Wait you’re still reading?
Ok, the facts I’m supposed to list in a bio. As of this writing I’m 38 years old and live just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the beautiful town of Mill Valley. If you’re unsure how to find it just follow the smell of self-entitlement. Once you see the teens driving Teslas you’ll know you’re in the right place.
I live in a tiny studio that I can cross in (literally) five steps and don’t own an oven. But you know what? It’s worth it. I love developing iPhone apps and if you want to work in San Francisco you accept that rent for a tiny place costs more than most people’s mortgage.
If you and about 2 million other people start buying my books I promise to move out of Marin to a house in the redwoods up in Guerneville. No pressure. Wait that’s a lie. Pressure.
This series is awesome! Each book is better than the last & this one was fantastic. I love that a lot of the focus was on Jordan and that we got some tidbits about Nox & Kali, Wendigo, Yosemite, & Percy. The new stuff Trevor & Anput discover- I can't wait to see how that pans out. And how does Percy fit into all this? I am so ready for the next book.
I am waiting for the release of Hatchling, I decided to read the series. Now I am reading the prequel and waiting for book 5 in the series. All I can say is I will never get any work done around the house. This is a great series and I am looking forward to the 5th book. I love the way mythology, technology and history coalesced into a great read. Now I'm stuck again waiting for the next book and getting some things done around the house ughhh.
Nox (The Director) and Hades are working for the Grey Men who work for the Builders.
Their simple plan is to overwhelm and destroy the Ark Lords, readying the planet for the Builder's return. Blair, Liz, Jordan and Leti command the forces defending the Arks. They are hopelessly outmanned, outnumbered and under armed for the combined forces of Nox and Hades. They have a few cards to play in the current game, but it will take a miracle to survive. The Earth is at stake. The characters are amazing, the storyline is a twisted cord of knotted string slowly unravelling under our gaze. The combats and contests defy description and play out marvelously from the mind of a master storyteller. All in all, this is a great read!
Five years pass in the blink of an eye as Blair and Lisa escape the destruction of Osirus, Isis, Ra and Set but somehow get transported into the future. Hades is the new big bad and he has transformed the Director into a demon and is using him to try and secure total power over the earth before the builders arrive. The Director continues to make a good foe. He's forced to do what Hades tells him, but he's also always playing his own game. In the meantime, the heroes have to reestablish themselves in the post-apocalyptic world and deal not only with werewolf and deathless power structures, but with some seriously powerful mythical beasts left over from the original earth. As always, the book is fast paced and exciting and the ending climatic battles are especially tense.
I have really enjoyed this series. The characters are well developed and you find yourself hoping they all survive to the end...... Of course it's all fantasy but that is what I was looking for ! Blair and Liz quickly became my favorites however, Trevor and Jordan are in there too ! I love how the author incorporated relevant issues and even put a new twist on the " zombie apocalypse "by adding werewolves and other surprises. It kept me entertained throughout each book and continued to pique my interest. I can't wait for the next one ! Each book would make a great movie !
As with the other 3 previous books this is a great follow up of the story of Blair and his friends fighting against an alien enemy and their flock on earth. Im not gonna go into the story as any reader that have come so far as reading the other 3 know well what goes on but you can rest assured that the books and storyline still holds a high standard, i give it a strong 4 star and look forward to the next int the installament, have a good read
Yes, our ordinary everyday dogs have a huge part to play in this book, and I, being a dog lover am more than happy to see it. As always great characters, the malevolent are truly wicked, and defeating them really takes every single being! Awesome read, can't recommend this series highly enough. 💖🐱🐾
This story brought it all together. With each new ability the main characters are developing into an Avengers fighting force. It all makes for a good story. Yeah for Trevor.
I enjoy the characters. As well as the exciting story line. Can't wait to read the next book. Recommend to anyone who like adventure and action. The plot using Egyptian gods is exciting and crazy.
Our heroes had much to overcome and much to learn in this riveting 4th book in the Deathless series. Lots of nail-biting action and intrigue. I am so looking forward to book 5.
I loved this book. Nice epic action to the series and one hell of a cliff hanger. Can't wait till the next book. Will have you up at night reading this is for sure.
These are very, very busy books, there is a lot of crazy going on at all times. But if you can just let yourself slide into the crazy they're a lot of fun.
By the gods, this book was so good that I am sad to have finished it. Love the new characters and the mythology behind it. Seems the research was truly taken and applied to make a great book. Chris Fox also keeps the book light and easily entertaining, but with twist that have you reacting to a book like a TV series with plenty of WTF's! Can't wait for more!
This series is a fun action adventure to be part of. The story is like a summer blockbuster at the movie's. The characters are the hot buttered popcorn and soda. I won't spoil it but the cliffhanger left me with the main theme of Back to the future in my head. The author gives you a great story, and leaves you hungry for more.
