Reading Ms. Ayala is always a treat. Her stories have always been full of a sweetness that makes the heart rejoice and leaves the day a little bit lighter. With Rich Asian Lovers, she spices it up, while delivering the heart I've come to expect and just the right amount of naughty. She stirs the imagination, tickles the funny bone and heats up the hormones all while delivering great stories. With this Anthology Rachel Ayala proves loves power. The ability to unite. We may look different, talk different and live worlds apart but love is the language meant to bond not diversify.

1) Roaring Hot

Teo Alexiou is in desperate need of a "real girlfriend" to bring to his grandma's birthday party.

Amy Suzuki needs to find an acting job ASAP unless she wants to move back home with her parents and work for her father.

What results is Teo having a reality show based on finding love with him and Amy being the girl set out to win his heart.

But as time goes on the couple is unsure of what is real and what is pretend. When Teo is in an accident will he remember Amy or are they both to late in figuring what they both really want?

A great read!!

2) Taming Romeo

Evie Sanchez is taking a break from medical school after being dumped by her boyfriend Eric. She takes solace back with her family and working for her family's restaurant Barrio XO.

Movie star Romeo Garcia is back in town for a movie role and wants answers to why Evie left him on prom night.

Will Romeo and Evie figure out if they are meant to be together or will both of their pasts and present come back to interfere in their happiness?

I really enjoyed this story and love how their is so much family drama involved with "extended" families taking part in who is meant to be together!

3) Played by Love

Jaden Sloup has one goal in mind - to land Ella Kennedy even though she hates jocks and he is the goalkeeper of his university soccer team.

Ella Kennedy is a bit of a geek, yet a very attractive one and seems to attract a lot of attention where ever she goes, and most is unwanted.

Will Jaden be able to fool Ella long enough to have her fall for him or is he actually in over his head and when push comes to shove will he stand up for love and do the ultimate sacrifice?

The relationship between the two is great and I loved how my opinion of Ella's "smartness" changed in the book!

4) Played by the Rookie

Wow - this novella was hot!!

Jessica Song is an intern at Spring Training and Jay Pak Ahn is a baseball rookie looking to find his place on a Major League Team. As soon as the two meet their are sparks flying between them and their is intensity right from the start.

The two begin a hot and fast paced relationship but unfortunately there are some ghosts hiding in each of their pasts. When the ghosts come out will the two find a way to have a future together or is there too much hurt involved?

This novella is definitely for 18+ as it contains a lot of really racy encounters!!

Review for Roaring Hot!!!
I LOVED Theo and Amy
Didn't like them
LOVED them
I just like how their love sort of snuck up on them while they were just trying to get ahead.

And I thought my family was dysfunctional

I have one word for this
THERAPY
I literally want to sit the Jewell family one by one on my couch and dredge all their dirty secrets out of them. Though nothing can make me like Rebecca, I sense that there are so many deeper stories to uncover from this one.

Review for Taming Romeo
Yum

The ending wasn't as intense as I would have expected.
That's my only complaint. I want to roll around in a vat of Romeo so I may not be very unbiased right now.

Review for Claiming Carlos
This family is absolutely NUTS. I felt right at home reading about them. Not going to lie, I'm upset that I don't know conclusively who used Carlos' Facebook account to be a complete...
I can hardly complain.

Review for Played By Love
Comedy
Romance
Love great enough to overcome preconceived barriers.
All elements of a great romance.
Admittedly the conflict was a bit... late and fleeting, but the story was absorbing.

Review for Playing The Rookie
It could have stood to be a bit more spicy. I might be the only one who thinks Jay's ex got off WAY too easy ,and wonder what happened to the supposed best friend but I don't mind. Something was seriously wrong with that witch.

Rich Casts from Across the Asian Diaspora

I love reading about Asian characters in romance. This set satisfies in that aspect, although Ayala's heroines are often sharply drawn and difficult to relate to/cheer for. For example, why Amy (Roaring Hot) risks so much for her chosen career given her lack of emotional depth for most of the story...makes it hard to like her. Carina (Whole Latte Love) also has maddening mood swings that are the opposite of endearing. For their lot, the heroes are often as mercurial, and hard to understand.

On the other hand, Ayala writes a breadth of Asian diaspora and delivers with fantastic renderings of global settings, and avoids facile stereotypes while presenting unique pairings and delivering on the HEA.
