Things are about to change in a big way for Indianapolis Police Detective, Angie Bartoni. The Commissioner has decided to designate a special crime unit (SCU) to investigate high profile crimes and promotes Angie to head the unit. As Angie struggles to come to terms with her promotion to Lieutenant and the responsibility of heading a team of detectives, she is handed a case involving the murders of Doctor Gillian and his wife, who happens to be a friend of the commissioner. Things quickly become more complicated when the doctor's mistress is murdered and all clues point to the doctor's son. With twenty-five million dollars from the inheritance up for grabs, the plot becomes more complicated. Angie's former partner, Dan, is struggling with the loss of his subsequent partner and Angie wants desperately to help him but she has her own problems. Angie's love interest, Garret Brock, helps her maintain her balance through the transition. The doctor's son, Jason, maintains his innocence and protests that he has been set up. Only Angie believes that he might be telling the truth, but will she be able to prove it and identify the real perpetrator?
