Jamie Fessenden
45 books390 followersJamie Fessenden set out to be a writer in junior high school. He published a couple short pieces in his high school's literary magazine and had another story place in the top 100 in a national contest, but it wasn't until he met his partner, Erich, almost twenty years later, that he began writing again in earnest. With Erich alternately inspiring and goading him, Jamie wrote several screenplays and directed a few of them as micro-budget independent films. He then began writing novels and published his first novella in 2010.
After nine years together, Jamie and Erich married and purchased a house together in the wilds of Raymond, New Hampshire, where there are no street lights, turkeys and deer wander through their yard, and coyotes serenade them on a nightly basis. Jamie recently left his "day job" as a tech support analyst to be a full-time writer.

This is a superb collection of stories, all well-written and gripping, and show Jamie’s storytelling at its best.
Billy’s Bones ~ 5*+
This is truly an amazing and gripping story. One I will definitely read again. It had been on my wish list for a long time as I’d heard so many recommendations for it. At its heart is a wonderful love story and also a compelling mystery. There’s plenty of UST as Kevin and Tom build a relationship together. I adored how Tom patiently supports Kevin, who needs help in recovering hidden memories about his abusive past, and in the process helps him show love and physical affection.
Screwups ~ 4.5*
I liked how this story links to a character from Tom’s past as mentioned in Billy’s Bones. We find out what happened to him after he disappeared from Tom’s life. We get Jake's coming out story at college here, his first sexual experiences, his falling in love and building the courage to show affection for another guy in public. But it’s not all plain sailing. Jake’s father and brother cause trouble for him, plus Danny has a secret he thinks will ruin his chance of happiness with Jake. This is a story about young college love. There’s some geekiness and humour, plus it gives lots of fuzzy feels amidst the angst.
Murder on the Mountain ~4.5*
An intriguing murder mystery with a sweet romance developing between amateur detective, Jesse, and the detective investigating the case, Kyle. I liked how the age gap made a difference to their relationship (although it was only seven years) and that Kyle was now exploring his bi-side for the first time. There’s a couple of steamy scenes and Kyle isn’t shy about having sex with another guy. The story builds to an exciting climax as the mystery is solved and, although I guessed the murderer correctly beforehand, I wasn’t entirely sure I’d got the motive right. Some amusing comments and light relief come via Kyle’s work partner and his reaction to his friend starting a relationship with a man.
Violated ~ 5*
I read this moving story when it was first released and have also listened to the audiobook three times.
This is an emotional story of non-consensual sex/rape and how one man views and copes with that attack. Too shocked and ashamed for being weak Derek doesn’t report the incident to the police at first, nor does he tell his possessive douchebag of a fiancé. Instead Derek suffers on his own for weeks without sharing the trauma with anyone and his world starts to fall apart. Amidst all this heartache a beautiful romance steadily builds between Russ and Derek. He comforts and supports Derek in the months after the distressing experience.
This is such a well-crafted story with so many layers to it. Russ’s earlier attempts at finding a satisfying partner are quite amusing and just go to show how suitable Derek is for him. Time with Russ’s sister and family adds depth to the plot. I loved the cabin setting by the lakeside and the fact that both men had dogs that brought them together.
The story felt real, as if something like this could have happened. It’s a difficult read at times, but Jamie skilfully develops the characters and plot to make the story plausible and enthralling.
