Rate this book
When the Marquis Andras Valletta, a world traveler and antique collector, returns to the beautiful island of Malta, he hires Graziella, a naïve history major, to assist him in the search of a powerful, ancient artifact. Graziella is immediately captivated by the charming and intriguing marquis, and finds that she is falling for him against her best friend Aurora’s advice. Graziella’s stay at the palazzo leads to insidious changes in her senses and appearance that she doesn’t notice until it’s too late. As Graziella becomes intertwined deeper with Andras, she realizes that his power over her isn’t natural, and she finally becomes aware of something eerie beyond their present encounter. The quest for the ancient heirloom transforms her forever. What is Andras’s true need for Graziella and her friend Aurora? Will Aurora, a driven alpha-female who allows nothing in the way of her goals, put her ambitions aside to help her friend? Will Graziella remain enthralled by her attraction to Andras, or will she have the strength to escape the darkness that surrounds her?

I just finished reading the intriguing novel 'Andras beyond good and evil'. The story takes place in the Mediterranean islands of Malta and Gozo. The historical background, during the period of 'The Knights of St John' is craftily intertwined with the evolvement of the novel. The characters couldn't be more real. Both Mdina, the old city and Valletta, together with the maltese culture play an important part in the narrative. A real page turner!

Written in a very detailed and very visual, at times hallucinatory style... the plot transports you to a metaphysical realm deeply rooted in european history and culture and intertwined with biblical events... this gothic fantasy noir is really wicked...
