From USA Today bestselling author Kelly Rey comes the next hilarious Jamie Winters Mystery …
Legal secretary and sometimes-sleuth Jamie Winters thought she'd seen it all... until now.
When Oxnard Thorpe, the Adult Diaper King of New Jersey and one of Parker, Dennis’s most important clients, is found dead in the swimming pool of his sprawling mansion on his wedding night, his bride gives Jamie and her teenaged sidekick, Maizy, the green light to find the killer. Could it be the faded society maven, the bridesmaid for hire, the harried housekeeper, Oxnard’s embittered twin siblings, the surly wedding planner, the groom’s sketchy colleague, or even the not-so-blushing bride herself? Just when it seems things couldn’t possibly get more confusing, they get an assist from Eunice Kublinski, the firm’s timid new attorney with a morbid fear of public speaking—which makes things much, much worse! If Jamie doesn't unravel the truth quickly, she may just be next on the killer's list!

"Move over Stephanie Plum—there's a new girl in town! Jamie Winters is smart, sassy, and laugh-out-loud hilarious. Mix one fun mystery, some fantastic romantic chemistry, and witty quips throughout for a sure-fire winner! Who knew a lawyer's office could be so funny?" ~ Gemma Halliday, New York Times bestselling author
"Rey delivers an impressive, well-plotted and well-written... treat that leaves readers eager to whet their appetite with all of Jamie Winters' wacky investigations!" ~ Diane Morasco, Long Island Book Reviews
From her first discovery of Nancy Drew, Kelly has had a lifelong love for mystery and tales of things that go bump in the night, especially those with a twist of humor. Through many years of working in the court reporting and closed captioning fields, writing has remained a constant. If she’s not in front of a keyboard, she can be found reading, working out or avoiding housework. She’s a member of Sisters in Crime and lives in the Northeast with her husband and a menagerie of very spoiled pets.
Jamie Winters is a secretary at one of the most dysfunctional law firms in town. What other firm would hire a new attorney with an online degree (that took two weeks to achieve)? While Jamie is not excited about her job, it certainly is an avenue for many unusual events and experiences.
In this book Jamie is bribed to attend a wedding to represent the law firm, and ends up being the maid of honor. What is a bizarre wedding turns to the dark side after a food fight amongst the guests resulting in fillet mignon decorating the floor, and a mad rush of guests leaving the party. Unfortunately the groom left as well-permanently by drowning in the pool. Good thing Maizy invited herself along as Jamie's plus one, because those two are off and detecting in their own wacky style. The surprisingly (an unintentionally) funny addition of the newest lawyer in the firm (Eunice) makes things even more unpredictable and humorous.
The author has created a whole new look at lawyers and their clients. Her books are funny and are interspersed with glimmers of an unconventional younger generation that actually has a good grip on what is or isn't important. I liked how Maizy helped the underdogs in this book.
The mystery is good, the characters are fun and funny, there is a hint of romance, and sometimes all that makes a great break from our own reality. In this case, Ms. Rey has done a great job in all of those endeavors, making this a good mystery for all. Read the others in the series first for greater appreciation and understanding of the characters. Even if you don't, you still will enjoy this book and have some chuckles. Don't miss it.
This was the best book in this series so far. The dialogue was hysterical. The addition of Eunice had me laughing maniacally (maybe I can just relate because I, too hate being a lawyer). Curt wasn't in this book nearly enough for me, but Maizy's ridiculous antics made up for it. I think Maizy deserves her own series. I love love love this series.
Jamie & her teenage sidekick Maizy are back in another action-packed, laugh filled adventure. These two, along a new lawyer at the firm whereJamie works, Eunice Kublinski, get themselves into some uproariously funny situations! This story was soooo good keeping me entertained from beginning to end!!
The fourth book in the Jamie Winter mystery series continues with her still working at what is now the Parker, Dennis law firm. While at work one day, Jamie is conned into appearing at a wedding as a bride’s maid for the future wife of one of the firm’s best (meaning richest) clients. Of course, at the wedding a murder happens and once again Jamie is in the middle of the chaos that ensues. I truly enjoy Ms. Rey’s characters and writing. The dialog is quick and witty and keeps you laughing as you follow along to try to solve the murder. I received a copy of this book in order to give an honest review. Since I have read the other books in the series and enjoyed each one, this was a review that I very much looked forward to – an entertaining and fun mystery! (by paytonpuppy)
So, I have a simple problem. Nothing has changed from book one. There has been no character growth. And I have the same issues that I have had since book one. And I can no longer take it. This is going to be the last installment for me, I am just done.
