Can a Glitch ever overcome her programming?

Escaping the AI’s clutches came with a heavy price, but Lib is about the find out the worst is yet to come. While Lib is desperately searching for answers in her mother’s former home, the abandoned Empties, an earthquake engineered by the AI drives her and her friends underground, forcing them to decide their course of action once and for all: keep hiding forever or face the AI head on. Lib knows remaining hidden means certain death, but convincing the Rogues to follow her may be an impossible task.

As the group takes shelter in a secret underground facility, Lib unwittingly discovers the birthplace of the AI. She hatches a plan to turn the system against itself, but it means asking Wolf and the Rogues to do the one thing they never would. Breaking into the Norm is the easy part, now Lib must face an enemy far worse than she could’ve anticipated. If she fails to overcome her programming and defeat the AI, it means the friends she’s come to see as family will never survive.

Ramona Finn writes about courageous characters who fight to live in broken, dystopian worlds. She grew up sitting cross-legged on her town's library floor - completely engrossed in science fiction books. It was always the futuristic world or the universe-on-the-brink-of-extinction plot lines that drew her in, but it was the brave characters who chose to fight back that kept her turning the pages.

Her books create deep, intricate worlds with bold characters determined to fight for their survival in their dystopian worlds - with a little help from their friends. And, of course, romance is never out of the question...

Like young-adult dystopian books? Then you're going to love Ramona Finn's "The Glitch" -- set in a futuristic world where an Artificial Intelligence rules, Lib wakes up in a barren land with one thought lodged in her mind: "Find the Glitches".

CHARACTERS

Lib has grown. She is no longer a stranger among the rogues. she belongs with the Tracker clan and almost all of them accept her. But meeting the other clans is a whole new thing. They don't see her as a rogue. They don't even see her as human. I enjoyed getting to know more about Lib through her constant questions to herself as to whether she is a Glitch or a Rogue. This book also explores the relationship between Lib and Wolf which was a little awkward at times considering Lib knows nothing about either feelings or sex. She notices the way her stomach flips around Wolf and how her cheeks grow warm but it takes her a long time to start understanding what they mean.

Wolf is still the same. He still distrusts the AI but trusts Lib and her ideas on how to attack the AI. I liked how Wolf has been a constant throughout the series. Even in book 1 when he didn't really trust Lib, he cared for his clan and tried to do the best which hasn't changed till now.

While each character is written quite wonderfully, I couldn't connect with them as I did with Lib. I think it's probably because in some ways lib is like us; she likes to use technology and machines while all the rogues distrust machines and any kind of software.

PLOT

While book 1 dealt with Lib figuring the basics out and book 2 dealt with her convincing the rogues that the AI is the biggest threat for the whole world, book 3 is where they actually fight back. After the failed attempts in the first 2 books, this is where Lib and the rogues hatch a proper plan to attack the AI. I enjoyed the plot and the ending reminded me a bit of the movie "Lucy". While I'm still trying to wrap my head around that ending, I can't deny I was entertained. I also loved how not everything was wrapped up in a bow at the end. It made the story more believable.

WRITING

Ramona Finn writes simply and wonderfully. Except for some typos and some small grammatical errors in my copy (Which I'm willing to look past since it's an e-galley), I enjoyed the author's fuss free descriptions and dialogue. The writing makes even the slow parts move fast and I ended up reading the book in one sitting!

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THE BOOK

- Almost everything

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THE BOOK

- The typos and grammatical errors

CONCLUSION

A wonderful finale to an exciting dystopian/science fiction trilogy. I'm surprised the book doesn't have more fans to be honest! It has fuss free writing and while at certain points it's slow, it's never anything less than interesting.

I wanted to love this book, :( but there were a few things that made me not. I loved the other two in the series. I thought this would be the next hunger games, but then it made me mad.

Spoilers ahead...

Wolf, I thought he was pretty upstanding, but when he asked her to "join with him" she didn't know what he meant, and while I don't think she regretted it, she didn't understand what was going on. He should have realized she was from a different world and taken some time to explain things before, not after.

Other than that, I liked the book, but it seemed to become stagnant while they were making their plans, arguing and while Lib was hacking into the norm.

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Is this the new norm?

This book could have been one really good book with some minor editing and pace issues. But instead it was a could be missed trilogy. It is my opinion that authors are unnecessarily extending stories for profit because why write one book when you can write 3...4...5...books and keep people vested. This is not a series you need to read the concept as good but it got lost in the endless internal dialogue and unnecessary drawing it out.

A good read. Likeable characters. 3*.

Great end to a great trilogy

My first series by this author was The Culling which I absolutely loved! So, I started this series and really enjoyed this too.

Ramona Finn had a great knack for writing intriguing stories with very realistic characters whose personalities draw you in from the very start.

In this series Lib is the main character who is searching for truth and meaning. In the beginning she is cast out of the Norm to the Outside with no memory of her past. During the series her character develops so much and I loved the journey I went on with her. Her relationships were real and her trials were so heart wrenching at times.

I found this final book in the series a great ending and I truly can't wait to read more by this author.

👍👍

Good storytelling and characters. Oddly, lots of strange typos. Almost like spell-checked instead of edited. There were some unfinished thoughts and wrongly tensed words, as well as dropped apostrophes. That's honestly why I gave it 4 out of 5, because it was pretty distracting at times. But really, a very engaging story, and great visuals.

Finished the series

Finished the series but they weren't my favorite by any means. Not sure if this is a new author but the story had depth in some parts then glanced over others. It wasn't consistent enough for me. These would make good maybe early high school books. Minus the "joining" I would even consider it for middle school reads.

Interesting

This series was amazing, I really enjoyed how different it was. I gave this book a low rating because it talks of two young adults joining (sex) and it talks about it in details that I wouldn't want my teenagers reading. Sad because if it didn't go into such detail I would've loved this book so much.

Excellent

You lost your way in book two but found it again and this book was as excellent as the first. The teacher in me wants to remind you quality over quantity. I know as a writer you need to make a living but you don't want to lose your readers. They will follow you I to the next world you create. You are talented and quite capable of creating world that are fascinating.

Excellent story

The concept of this trilogy is fresh, the characters are well developed. There were quite a bit of spelling and grammatical errors, but it did not negatively impact my enjoyment of the story. I would recommend this trilogy to anyone who is just a tad bit nerdy, lol.

End of a good series

Captivating story how the power of one can change the world. Lib affects everything and everyone she meets. Her search for answers and sacrifice made her such a likeable character. Interesting story and one of my favourite series so far.

I wish there was more, but wouldn't change it!

Even though I wish there was more, so I didn't have to stop reading, I wouldn't change it! I loved this series and highly recommend it to anyone who loves futuristic, dystopian, sci-fi, post apocalyptic stories.

Best of the series

The first two books were a little slow. The Norm however, is full of action, dreams, sex, and coming together. This book is what humanity is all about.

Great series

Loved all 3. Went by fast. Can't wait to read more of Finn' s books. I don't rank it with hunger games or insurgent but a great sci fi

Lib being with Wolf was something interesting considering the really doesn't know anything about herself yet. She is questioning her roles within being a Glitch or a Rogue
