"Dropping Out: The Sequel to a Pre-kill" brought the reader into the depths of Conrad Nevitt’s past, present, and future. With Tom Howlett, the local journalist, lighting the way, we tapped into how Conrad was built into the man he is today and how he was a protector. His history and memories tore open old scars but also uncovered more about who he was. He was a man who stood by his word wholeheartedly, never wanting to break it again, which was the ultimate proof that he was a protector and not the killer most residents of Kentucky said he was. Tom saw that and wanted to share his story, but that was not the end. Conrad Nevitt was a man of strength and mystery. He dropped out from the world, but how much did he really drop out? Tom saw as much of what Conrad allowed because Conrad knew of who was lurking nearby—someone who was about to change the simple life of Hank’s Heaven.
