Turning Tables: A Sapphic Erotic Story

Rate this book
It’s not easy being the sole werewolf surrounded by a gang of derisive bloodsuckers, yet somehow Kayla Hart manages. Barely. But when a traitor is uncovered in the Lexington coven of Amherst by its lowly werewolf ambassador, Kayla is forced to act outside her diplomatic station, propelled by the forbidden attraction she harbors.

However, summoning the coven leader, Monica Juarez, to inform her of her findings doesn’t quite go as planned. Cynical Monica enjoys playing with her pet wolf far more than Kayla can stand. Antagonistic tension simmers between the women and all unwritten rules about fraternizing with the enemy threatens to be tossed out of the window. Kayla wants to prove she’s a force to be reckoned with, not a mindless pup.

A large world packed into a sexy short story

A fun read. I had trouble keeping track of the secondary characters given how little screentime they got since this story is a short one at 3.5k, but the chemistry between the MCs was definitely there. And I enjoyed the little details about their paranormal species.

The calculatingly delicious sexy leverage between an apparent underling werewolf go-between and a powerful vampire coven leader is super satisfyingly delectable. Exactly as the title states, eventually someone else manages to take the upper hand. How this fantastic shift comes to be is highly enjoyable. Magnificent!

Kayla Hart is a werewolf but she initially comes across as a low-level administrative drone. The focus of her primary task is to bring essential and enlightening data to the vampire coven leader within Amherst. A cooperative truce of sorts exists between the werewolves and vampires for the good of both influential groups and the maintenance of their surreptitious command within the human community. Kayla's initial meeting nearly ends in a potentially disastrous erotic envelopment that she nips in the bud. I surmise Kayla's experience has planted the seed awakening her to a personally available technique for change. How delightful!

Monica Juarez is a vampire of long, long standing. She really loves her position and her mastery. She excels at one of the vampires' most treasured talents, that often leads to the many opportunities for *snark and patronization*. Monica's long history has given her many chances to perfect her skillful ascendancy. She knows exactingly when to peek into another being's thoughts, giving her a wondrously sublime superior hand and means to total authority. I sensed Monica likes to be a dominant sexual partner and that, I believe, creates a tantalizing chance for someone else to take control. Divinely desirable!

This short story is great fun and a lovely *turning of the tables* presenting all with a new Queen of the Hill! Glorious!

Wow. Just, wow.

If you think you've read every possible variation on werewolves and vampires, let me assure you - you have not.

This lovely little piece of erotica manages to weave an entire supernatural world around werewolf Kayla Hart, the sole wolf in a coven of vampires, and the ruthlessly beautiful vampire leader Monica Juarez. Kayla has discovered a traitor within the coven, but it's no easy task to convince Monica of her findings - or to resolve the smoldering sexual tension between them.

Turning Tables is a short story, but it kept me guessing until the last line...and now I want more!

Not bad for a novella with erotica in the title. I will say that it’s more like a preview for a full length novel( I actually kind of hope so) than a story itself. The ending is open.

I like Kayla and would like to read more about Monica & her again.

Looks like I still have a thing for paranormal stories.

I don't usually read paranormal and I found some of those parts tricky. My brain just doesn't really work that way, but overall, it was exactly what it says on the label. A well written erotic short story that was engaging.

Another epic read from my favorite short form author. Seriously talk if you like well written concise story and sapphic spice. These are the books for you. Preparing to read all of Torrance’s catalogue because her writing is that good!

Good for the erotic, but not much else

The story itself doesn't quite add up. It's almost like you've been tossed into the story midway through. The writing was OK and the smut was decent.

Wonderful banter, it leaves you wanting more since the premise of the plot is interesting. In just a few pages, you can see the tension that has built up between them for months, the desire they have for each other, and the deep feeling of wanting something they can't have.

4 stars. Whew! Hot, hot, HOT! I need more in this series asap. Monica and Kayla’s chemistry was so good and the animosity between them made the sex even hotter. Couldn’t get enough of it.

Tropes: Vampire, Werewolf, Enemies to Lovers, Hate Sex, Class Difference

Well, that was sexy and very gay. Mean sapphics in a paranormal world are a whole mood. If Sené ever wants to return to Ice Queen vampire Monica and Angry Horny Kayla, I would not be mad in the slightest.
