I have been going through many of the recipes offered in this book, most of them having been delightfully challenged for a new Baker. Since it is a British cookbook, there are occasionally unfamiliar ingredients that need to be substituted for its American component or close as possible. I was surprised to learn that GBBO really inspired me to try baking and I look forward to checking out the other Bake It Better books.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book but it is not for novice or occasional bakers. You need a scale and a metric measuring cup since the instructions are in British measures. Professional bakers weigh their ingredients as the measurements are more accurate. There is a table in the back of the book that helps with some conversions. Also the recipes have some ingredients that are unfamiliar to Americans. But I have found them easily online. If you like the show, you will like this book.
