Just because his mentor dies doesn't mean that Sam should give up hope of his skills.

Another excellent book in this series! Eva finally comes into play as a central character in the race and this book also focuses a lot more on Alex. Looking forward to seeing who number 2 is!

This book follows the original 3 teens from the first book. Adventures abound for all of them.

This book still takes me along the ride very well and there is a bit of foreshadowing that presents a hook to give me that little extra push to see the series to its conclusion.

Australian Author James Phelan, continues his hit series “The last 13” closer to home, featuring scenes from down under. The dreamers are once again in pursuit of the gear, this time in the Australian Outback, as they race for the dream gate. This book is packed with all that we have come to enjoy from this series- dreams, cool gadgets, multiple enemies, and easy to relate to characters and strong friendships.

This is the 11th book in Phelan’s series, firmly placed for the YA, action and adventure lovers. Phelan has teamed up with Scholastic Australia to produce a thoroughly modern series. It also has the added advantage of hooking the most reluctant teen readers into a continuous reading habit as there are 13 books in the series, with a new one being released each month. They are short and punchy, as well as suspenseful, always leaving the reader keen to rush out and read the next book. This is amplified by the application of simple language, as well special online content, including a count-down clock to the next book.

The end is approaching, but it hasn’t ended yet! We wait with baited breath for the November instalment of this gripping series.

Wow! The ending was intense and I can't wait to start the next one. They are definitely getting more intense the closer the final 13 get to finding the dream gate.

Fantastic. Great detail and plot ideas. A great base to work from, Sam is always facing a new enemy, unlike the average adventure novel where the hero(es) only face a few main enemies. James Phelan is creative and imaginative.

Sam and Eva head to Australia, and Alex continues his long trip south. There’s a great ‘visual’
contrast between the heat and red dust of Central Australia and the starkness of Antarctica, and the action is building nicely towards the conclusion.

Getting so close to the end. And we finally made it to Australia!! For an Aussie author he certainly took his time, and we don't even get a member of the 13.
