I saw a copy of this at a rangers' station near a beach. It turned out to be an excellent purchase - a must-have if you own a beach house or like to walk along the beach, and are interested in learning about the abundant nature in these areas and the science connected with it. Clear descriptions, well-illustrated, overall a very fine book. It is, however, focused on the northern Atlantic beaches of the USA. You might need another book if you do your beachcombing elsewhere.
