Silly plot, but fun anyway. My copy of this book was published in 1942 and given as a gift to “Marilyn from Ethel, Dec. 25, 1944”. Page 120 of this book is from a different book - “Smilin’ Jack” which was is also a Whitman book. Quite a surprise. Now I need to go find a copy of “Smilin’ Jack” to see if it has the missing page 120 from “Jane Withers and the Hidden Room”.

Although the main character has the name of a child star, she appears to be an ordinary teenage schoolgirl. Returning to school a month late, she discover her friends all gaga over the new language professor, Paul Berthold. When the headmistress's diamonds are stolen, the mystery begins. The plot is rather obvious, but moves along quickly.
