When my soul cries

This was a good quick read. I enjoyed that this book had just enough drama, not too much, and not too little. This was my first read by this author but definitely not my last.

this was a great book. it made you realize to put God first and follow your heart. things are not always as bad as they seem. some people are not what they appear to be. this book can best be described by the Yolanda Adams song Be Blessed. The hardships of Jamaika comes from things that her mother and grandmother just believed was troubles that everyone goes through. sometimes the way you think is from generations. just because it seems you have everything does not mean it is okay. no when to walk away from certain situations and no when to stay and fight. just a great book.

How I Look Back and Wonder.....How My Soul Cried.......

I think the five stars will be indicative of how this story goes!! THIS was a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned!! The smooth flow of life altering event to the next was inexplicable. THIS story was definitely what real life is made of. The Christian Urban genre is for sure one of my favorites but this author seriously wrote this true to life story!! The editing was professionally done as is not always the case with Christian Urban fiction. The characters were lovable and also hate worthy, and were real enough to carry to a series easily. I will be following the work of this author in the future. Excellent read!! Period.

So darn good

I'm in tears right now. this book is everything, preacher husband mentally, physically, and emotional abuse her. Had two babies on her and, After all them years of her taking his abuse he decided to get a divorce. Just when she though it was over her comes her Levi. I'm going to stop her and READ THIS BOOK. This is my first time reading from this author and won't be my last. I'm about to read another one of her books actually I'm about to read all. You are so talented. When Jamaika asked God to show her a sign, he showed her several, but when the waiter said Leviticus 19:18 my heart melted.

Good Meaning

Great storyline with the main character having to learn to love herself and not accept whatever is given to her. Nowt meek but not exactly strong, she learned to find her balance. The writer welded the story well allowing readers to visualize and internalize the different dynamics. We are left thinking about the why's and what happened to make this all happen. A good book for a dialogue or book club. I only wish the ending was not wrapped with a bow.

Delightful

It took me a while to pick up the book and begin to read because the cover did not appeal to me. Thank God I did not continue to judge this book by the cover.... I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of reading it! It felt like an emotional rollercoaster and as the ride comes to an end, you shout "that was fun, let's do it again!" This was my first Olivia Shaw book. Good one.

Awesome read

I really enjoyed this story the flow and the character development were great. Of course Mika was my favorite character even though she appeared weak at times i just glad she finally got it together. Jay was a sorry excuse of a man and he got exactly what he deserved. I was alil disappointed in Levi for a minute but he's cool now and that ending though, this is definitely a must read

Jamaika's journey

This was a nice story. Jamaika's trials and tribulations were emotional as well as inspirational. Her life with Jalen was a lesson that she needed to be taught. No matter how scary or painful the journey is, there is always a lesson to be learned. Jamaika's evolution from the beginning to the end of the book was great to read.

A very strong but fragile lady that found her way

As stated before she was a very strong but fragile young lady. Domestic violence is cycle that can broken with love and understanding. Mothers should talk more to their daughters, if they been a victim of such violence.
Please be honest, it helps a lot.

Chosen By God

Real Divas Read book Club September Choice

I loved this book, it was truly inspirational, having God in your life, he will reveal the negative and when you are at your lowest point he will pick you up and stand with you, just trust in the Lord and He'll wipe your tears and mend your heart.

Loved this novel.

Very good book

This was a very good book. This book really touched home for me. I don't condone abuse of ANY kind and PRAY that if anybody finds themselves in that situation, that they can get out safe. Glad she found someone at the end to love her for who SHE is! Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Awesome story that tugged at my heart. Jamaika was raised to be a God-fearing woman. Jamaika was married to a pastor who was bootleg. He was physically, mentally, and verbally abusive to Jamaika. He cheated on her and produced children outside of their marriage. Jamaika tries to take her life because she’s unhappy. Jamaika started to loving herself again and met a wonderful man who treated her like a queen.

The Best Storyline

Great novel that blends creativity with a very difficult topic-abuse. Love winning in the end though typical of many of these novels was refreshing here.

Enjoyable read

Oh how we as women hold on to what we call love when it's clearly bad for us. But this character allowed much more in her marriage than I would have on any given day. Hopefully this remains fiction and no woman really allow this in a marriage.

Excellent read

Excellent read, I enjoyed the storyline and characters. Jamicka and Levi are a good couple. The ex husband Jalen was mean and disrespectful. Unfortunately, many women live in silence with disrespect and abuse. I recommend this book.

This is my 1st read by this author and she is fiyah! Her character Jamaika is a woman who takes control of her life after a series of heartbreaks. She does many of the things I only wish I had the courage to do! I have not read a book in a while that had me actually feeling what Jamaica felt from her heart. I will definitely will be reading more of Olivia Shaw in the near future. If you have not read this gem, pick it up soon for a soul pick me up!

My, my
Jamaika was a strong woman of God to put up with that shiesty man known as her husband. Full of emotion, this well written story had me feeling as if I were present as the scenes were unfolding. The author did a great job expressing the pain and later the joy that Jamaika experienced in her life. Heartfelt & an excellent read I highly recommend
