Wow, but I love this book.

When I entered the Goodreads Giveaway for this book I was really hoping against hope that I would be one of the winners. I really love to cook, and having a whole bunch of new recipes for party food was the one thing I wanted more than anything, as we're finally reaching a point where we invite the good people from church over once in a while. I definitely need to up my game from the cocktail wiener in BBQ sauce!

Immediately I was enraptured with not only the pictures (which look scrumptious) but most importantly the recipes themselves which are such simple things to put together that you can't help but wonder why you never thought to present a salad on a stick before. Or to put just those ingredients together in just that way. I really cannot wait to start making all of these recipes. The thing I love is that all recipes take common ordinary ingredients (so I won't be running all over creation to find some spice I never heard of) and don't have long drawn out prep - most things go together pretty quickly and easily.

So yes yes yes, this is the perfect book for going into the holiday season. Now I need to figure out just which items to pair with which people. I'm really looking forward to entertaining - and for an introvert to say that, this must be SOME cookbook. :)

I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway but that in no way affected this review. :)

I won this book. I want to say thank you to the author and publisher. I’m a retired chef and must say that this cookbook is made for everyone. Excellent compendium of modern appetizers. Easy recipes. Beautiful pictures. Love it!!!

-my usual cookbook complaint, not pictures for every recipe. maybe 1/3 at best. and some of those pictures are of artfully arranged ingredients, but not the actual finished recipe. which doesnt help a person know how its supposed to turn out.
-i didnt find much that appealed to me. but i was being picky and looking for things i could specifically bring to xmas at my parents house, things that hadnt been done there before.

--recipes that looked interesting to me:
-sesame ginger teriyaki meatballs
-mini cheese balls
-honey sriracha glazed bacon wrapped scallops (which led to me googling bacon wrapped scallops without sriracha)
