Great story and insights into Bitter Harvest ..the making of the unique long awaited film and the screen writer Richards personal writing journey in your story.
So many know about the Holocaust, but I was amazed at learning about the Holodomor... This book is a basic outline for learning what happened to the Ukrainian people living through the reigns of Lenin and Stalin. I was very impressed with learning more about it, and want to see the documentary Bitter Harvest soon. If you want a quick and short guide to what was a massive sad era for those people, you will appreciate this book. Just wanted to point out that Eccl 8:9 is true: "All of this I have seen, and I applied my heart to every work that has been done under the sun, during the time that man has dominated man to his harm"
Looking forward to the movie that is coming out this week. I know this story to be true because my grandmother died of starvation in the Ukraine in 1933. My mother was 7 years d at the time and told me stories of having to eat watered soup with dirt. She told me my any food my grandmother had she gave to the children and as a result succumbed to death by starvation. The stories of cannibalism unfortunately are true. People were walking skeletons. I don't understand why this story never came out before now. My family talked about it. It was common knowledge among the Ukrainians. They said the figure was closer to 7 million people that died of starvation.
