Jacob is a Truth Series stand alone.

My life is not for the light hearted.
My life is not my own, I live in a nightmare.
Ever since I can remember I've lived along side the devil.
I never knew my father and my mother is a shadow of her former self...But he is not!
He fills my days with a terror that others could not imagine.
Until the day I get away and my life is again taken by another.
A troubled angel in blue scrubs, who has come to guide me as I escape my nightmarish past.
Together we are two troubled souls, but maybe, just maybe, we could be perfect for each other.
This is our story.

description

Jacob is a spin-off of The Truth Series by Elaine May and it can be read as a standalone.

Jacob's story intrigued me from the moment I read the Sneak Peak at the end of Jackson's book. I needed to know what was going on there.

Meet Dr. Jacob "Yummy" Bryant, a man who lives in his own hell.
Night or day, it doesn't matter the time of the day, nightmares and demons from his past are always haunting him. Reminding him that he's not a free man.

And there is Isabelle, born into a world she is desperate to escape, abused by men in the worst way. A world of sex and danger is the only life she knows.

"All I have ever been allowed to know is this world that MArco has made me so I've never had the chance to really know Isabelle is or where she comes from."

But she is not alone. She has someone to protect. Katie, her little girl. So when she gets sick, she decides to escape and ends up at the hospital where she meets Dr. Yummy.

"Our wounds may hold hidden pasts that neither of us are strong enough to talk about, but they are a part of what makes us, us."

Insta-chemistry is how I would describe Jacob & Isabelle relationship and while both have demons from the past that still haunts them, they try to deal with it the best they can. But you know our dear friend past has always a funny way to come creep up on you. And the questions is, are they ready to face it?

The only niggle is that I would have love for Jacob & Isabelle to have more romantic or steamy scenes together. I felt the story lacked a little bit in that deparment. But overall, I enjoyed it.

With a jaw-dropping plot twist layered atop the juxtaposition of the protagonist's troubled past and revelead truths, Jacob will keep you reading till the very last page.

Jacob is my troubled soul and he's meant a lot to me ever since he first popped into my head when I was writing Pain And Truth. I've always had his story mapped out and I hope I've given him the justice he dissevers. I really hope you fall in love with him just as much as I have and cheer him and Isabelle on as they fall in love.

Elaine May has done it again....
I'm broken.
My heart hurts.
My soul is aching.
I'm speechless.
I absolutely loved this novel with every fibre of my being.

We Meet Isabelle.
Young, beautiful, trapped.
Living in the confines of a home that houses pure evil.
They hurt her.
They punish her.
They unleash their fury on her just for fun.
These monsters get off on it.
It's her job to be their slave.
Isabelle knows nothing else.
It's been her life for so long, that it's her normal.
There is no way out.

We meet Katie.
An innocent living amongst the monsters.
A beautiful little three year old girl.
She is always afraid.
Her Mum is her anchor.
But she's sick, very sick.
She needs a doctor, but the monsters don't care.
Her Mummy will help her she just knows she will.
But there is no way out.

We meet Jacob.
A paediatric doctor.
Living with scars not only on his exterior, but deep within his heart, Jacob is trying everything in his power to forget his past.
It's too painful to remember.
But the nightmares won't allow it.
The monsters still come in his dreams.
There is no escaping them.

Three lives will come together in the unlikeliest of circumstances.
Three lives that will be changed forever.
Scars will be opened.
Secrets will be revealed.
Hope will be felt.
Love will be shared.
Hearts will be healed.

Jacob, Isabelle and Katie....
This is their story.

Guys again, what can I say other than this. Jacob is utter perfection at the highest level. I was trapped within the story from the prologue, I couldn't put it down.
Raw, gritty and at times highly confronting.
Heartbreaking, heartwarming and completely moving.
Emotionally charged.
Written with such depth and detail you could every every emotion, every tear, every laugh.
It had everything I could've asked for and so much more.

Jacob....It was instant love. I fell completely for this man and his vulnerability and the need to help others even though he was suffering within himself.
Isabelle....A beautiful woman who's strength shone through with every page turned.
But Katie....That beautiful little girl completely held my heart in her hands.

Put these three beautiful characters together....You have one hell of a read.

Guys please you need to read this. I can't rate it highly enough. A must read.

5 stars.

Title: Jacob
Author: Elaine May

4 unexpected stars

I hadn't had a chance to read a novel written by Elaine May, Jacob being my first introduction to not only her works, but her series (if I'm not mistaken, this is the fifth in the series). What I loved was how easy it was to get right into the story ~ I had no troubles following the events that were going on and even more so to place the various players that are all inter connected in the story, and trust me, there are quite a few that does bear to be remembered for a variety of reasons (which I don't want to spoil the reason on why). When Isabelle sneaks out of the dingy 'home' (that would be a stretch of the word) with her daughter in her arms, she hurriedly makes it to the hospital since Katie (Isabelle's daughter) has been sick for too long without any improvement. On the run with no money, no home and no one to turn to, Jacob, the attending paediatrics physician, becomes her knight in shining armour when she least expects it. But will their newfound attraction manage to survive their secrets?

4 breath taking dreams

It was a heart wrenching story ~ no human being, whether they're children, adults, women, men or in between, should ever be made to feel as though they are worth nothing, and that's exactly how Isabelle has felt her entire life thanks to her mother and step father. It wasn't until Jacob's love set her free and made her want more than she's ever been given before and yet she can't but feel as though her fantasy will come crashing down on her once the truth comes out. And how did those secrets make everyone question everything ~ my curiosity to find out if we, the readers, will know the truth as well was way high and I couldn't wait to know more bout the Bryant family that seems to have such an intricate history with that of Isabelle, Katie and Jacob's life. Now I have to wait until Holly's story to find out what's to happen to them men I started to hate

Oh Jacob. After reading previous books in this series, I was exstatic to get to read more about Jacob. Dr Jacob Bryant loves his job. It keeps his mind busy from his own mind. He wasn't expecting Isabelle or Katie.
Isabelle had to get out and take her daughter with her. After a night of hated work, Isabelle returns home and Katie is nit well. She makes a vow then to better their lives. When she gets to the emergency room, she wasn't expecting him. This story is beyond heart warming. It isn't all hearts and flowers as it goes into detail of the lives lived by Jacob and Isabelle. It is definitely as great one to put on you TBR list.

Elaine May has done it again!

Jacob and Isabelle's story, as with the rest of The Truth Series, will bring the feels to the surface. For years secrets and greed have been a constant issues for the Bryant family. With Jacob, those issues continue to become a memory as Jacob and Isabelle face more ghost from the past, in order to have a future together.

With Joshua and Isla we were given anchoring love story.
With Jackson and Kitty we were given an amazing story of lost-love-found.
With Jacob and Isabelle we are given the story of broken kindred spirits that need each other to heal the scars of their past.

Loved this book. I was looking forward to Jacob's story and fell in love with him at every page!
Although it's possible to read this as a standalone it's best to read Elaine May's Truth series. We met Jacob as a child when Josh and Isla found him, now all grown up Jacob is a doctor all he wants to do is help people. Isababelle a slave runs away with her sick daughter little Katie who ends up with Jacob as her doctor, Jacob feels for Katie straight away and he knows there's something seriously wrong with Isabelle.
As their attraction and love grows it becomes obvious Jacob and Isabelle have a lot in common, are more secrets going to come out?
Great story well worth a read.

ARC goven for an honest review..

Whilst this is a standalone alone novel from the Truth Series. I wish I had known and read the others first.

This is the first book I have read by Elaine May. It tore at my heart but the book showed worth, courage and determination.

Isabelle had to leave her life behind, despite it being dangerous to get her daughter help. However she did not expect an night in shinning armour or blue scrubs to be exact to be the one to help save her.

Jacob has a troubled past. He is plagued by nightmares. Can the lady and the little girl be the one to save him?

Unfortunately their pasts have another idea. Will they be able to open up to each other and share their troubled souls. Or will their past throw a curve ball and threaten it all?

Isabelle is a young lady with a child. She has been through so much. Being used for men's  pleasure because her father is a big jack butt. Things happen to her that you never wish on anyone. All with a young child who is sick makes this harder for her. What is wrong with young Katie? This mother will stop at nothing to find out.

Jacob has also gone through some things in his childhood. His story is sad and another you wouldn't wish upon anyone. All he wants to do is help people children especially.

When these two meet it is instant chemistry. These two are explosive together. They will love each other forever. I found this one hard to read. I wanted to like it but it was kind of slow for me. It was a good book for the series. Very dark read. 4 stars.

What a touching story? Two people who have suffered the unthinkable meet at a time when they each need someone. Jacob is about hope, second chances and faith. It also doesn't hurt when there is a sexy doctor involved too.

Isabelle made a decision to leave the nightmare that she has been a part of for so long and do what was best for her and her daughter. She took a chance and risked a lot. When she meets Jacob a bond between the 3 forms and they begin the start of a crazy friendship/relationship.

When you have been broken for so long can one trust another to protect them? When secrets are revealed will they be able to overcome them? Grab your copy of Jacob today and find out!

This is my first book that I've read by Elaine May but definitely won't be my last. Going to go and get the previous books in The Truth Series now!

Jacob by Elaine May is a Truth Series standalone.

Meet Dr. Jacob Bryant who lived in his own hell as a kid. He was rescued and adopted but has night mares, bad ones. He has demons who haunt him.
And there is Isabelle, abused in the worst way, she knows no other life. But her daughter is sick.
She runs away to seek help.
There Jacob and Isabelle meet. They have insta- chemistry.
This book has unexpected twists and turns. But there will be a HEA, I promise.
Jacob was a difficult read for me. There was so much abuse and violence.
Isabella was very naive. Yes she stood up for her daughter, but else?
This is no sweet romance with roses and unicorns, far from it.
Jacob IS well written and I could feel the characters in the words.
4 Stars and Thank you Elaine May.

I received an ecopy by sigining up for the Blog Tour, through BeMy Book Boyfriend Promotions. This here, is my honest review.

This book was a rather quick read for me. However, it was one I actually enjoyed. It is my first in the series and from the Author and it really made me want to read more of these side characters, whom all, apparently, have had their own books. This is the story of Jacob, Isabelle, and Katie. Katie is Isabelle's daughter. And when these three collide, you're going to have you some heart pulling moments. The story itself, is sweet, a bit on the dark side, which I like, and they do, indeed, get their HEA. I'm definitely going to be #OneClicking the other books in the series, as well.

This dark romance is the story of two who suffered from extreme abuse as children and meet when Isabella decides to escape with her daughter. When she meets the handsome doctor she has no idea of the nightmares and battle he has daily. This touching love story is about 2 who suffering alone brings them together with the hopes of healing the past. Lots of twist and turns and yes may include violence and possible triggers.

Another emotional heartfelt book by Elaine May. Elaines writing never ceases to grip the reader from the very beginning.
The characters were so descriptive and had me completely believable to the point of being invested and wanting to know what happens next.
A super book and another Elaine May must read!

This is the 5th book in “The Truth Series”, and can be read as a standalone. Isabelle is trapped within the confines of her home, with a young daughter Katie who is ill. Jacob is a paediatric doctor who has a heartbreaking past, and from the moment that they both meet there is an instant explosive chemistry between them.
This storyline is about healing, secrets, and most of all love. Elaine has done a great job in writing this story, and I highly recommend her work for all.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book for the author!

Jacob by Elaine May
A story of two souls who have had been abused at the hands of a monster. Dr Jacob Bryant lived a life no child should. He was rescued and adopted by a loving family but is still haunted by nightmares and scars. Isabella has only known the life she was born into. A Monster controls her and when her daughter becomes sick she finally has to make a decision. The decision she makes leads her to Jacob. There is an instant interest between them. Katie, the daughter will melt you with her cuteness. The book has a twisted plot that will keep you entertained. Overall the book was good but I was waiting for something more. I did not feel the connection between the two main protagonists. However that is just my personal feeling. You do get your HEA and the writing itself I could not fault.

This book is part of the Truth Series and even though the author says it can be read as a stand-alone I highly advise reading the series in order as there are definitely some key parts that are tied to previous books.

Jacob Bryant is a doctor at the hospital. He wants to help people after going through some extremely traumatic events as a child which has left him with nightmares on a regular basis. He has never had a serious relationship before and focuses on his job and his family.

Isabelle is the mother of a 3 year old named Katie and has lived her whole life as a prisoner of Marco along with her mother. She is constantly physically and sexually abused but puts up with it until she realizes that Katie is sick and needs to go to the hospital. Isabelle risks everything to get Katie there but knows it's only a matter of time before Marco finds her.

As Jacob tries to find out what is wrong with Katie, he grows closer to Isabelle and knows that she is hiding all of her own pain. He knows he needs to protect her but what is the risk?

When Isabelle realizes Marco has found her what will she do and as she begins to learn the truth about her past will she let Jacob know the truth?

This was one of my favorite books of the series! Although it's funny as near the end everything just clicked and I was shocked how everything fell into place.

I loved Jacob and knew how important he was to the past story between Joshua and Isla Bryant. He has come a long way but still suffers from his memories of the past. I love how he is able to recognize Isabelle as an innocent victim and knows what it is like to go through something that scars your insides. Jacob knew he had to protect both Katie and Isabelle but he didn't know who was after them or why.

Isabelle was a strong character with what she was willing to do to protect her daughter. She had put up with so much for so long but knew that Katie really needed help. I felt so bad for her when she couldn't provide information on Katie's dad and I can't imagine how that felt. I understood how conflicted she felt when she learned about her past and how everything tied together but I felt so bad that she was taking on so much of the blame/guilt.

Katie was such a great little girl and I loved the honesty that came out of her mouth! She provided some laughter when the reader needed it the most!

I loved at the end when everything just clicked into place for me and seeing how everything was coming into place. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what's next!!

Great series!
