‘The Acrobat’ is a very engaging and entertaining story about an ancient vampire and a cat burglar, complete with sassy banter, boiling passion, awesome character development and a plot which snagged my interest from the very first page. I am so happy that I chanced upon this book and this author. This series is going to be awesome and I can’t wait for the next book.
Liam aka ‘The Acrobat’ is a survivor and he will do what he knows best to save his friend, Mal even if it means stealing from the mysterious, uber-rich Vincent de Saint-Bonnet. But what he could not have predicted before was to get caught red-handed by the very same Saint-Bonnet. Vincent is a man of secrets and Liam finds himself face to face with all of them along with an emotion he has never experienced before. As much as he wants to give in to his desires, Liam has a dagger to steal and a friend to save, which means betraying the same person he wants to love. Will ‘The Acrobat’ be able to finish the job or will ‘Liam’ choose Love??? Read and find out!!!
The story starts with Liam’s life as a pickpocket and how he survives using his wits and talents on the streets. He does not have any qualms in being a thief, he is proud of what he does coz he is the best after all. Liam has only one friend, who is more of a brother to him and Liam will do anything to protect him. He is loyal, fierce and a pure soul. I loved how the author details the circumstances and emotions of Liam and Mal as they try to make a living by doing what they know best. Their plight was heart-wrenching and I desperately cheered Liam on from the very start.
Vincent on the other hand is a brooding, mysterious character who has a lot of secrets and a lot of suspicions about Liam as he battles between loving him and distrusting him. Their relationship is fraught with distrust and anger while they are overcome with an overwhelming passion like no other.
Even through the distrust and suspicions, Vincent and Liam’s love is solid and pure. Their true feelings were always on display and it was a great treat to see those two falling in love while being angry and not honest with each other. It was a different kind of romance for sure but one enjoyed with relish.
The supernatural part is induced in perfect amounts in the story as Liam gradually comes to know what Vincent truly is. Vincent’s world is revealed in bits and pieces and I loved how everything comes together at the end. There were no loose strings in the story. I wanted the bad guys to get caught but I guess it will make a great premise for the next book along with a perfect chance to see Vincent and Liam more as the series goes on.
This is a translation and it has been done so beautifully that if you don’t know it beforehand, you can never tell. Kudos to the author as well as the translator for a giving us a story which was not only an engaging and incredible read but also the start of a series I will surely look forward to.

The Acrobat was…challenging to review. It tends to rely to heavily on tired clichés and characters that never fully develop. It starts off well and we’re introduced to Liam as he struggles to teach his hapless friend Mal the art of pick-pocketing. Predictably, it doesn’t go well and Liam ends up working for a less than reputable boss. His actions are noble. He thieves to protect Mal and his devotion to his friend is admirable. We know he had a rough childhood, but Liam never feels like a complete character. We’re just given bits and pieces of him and expected to fill in the rest. We aren’t even told how he gets his nickname, The Acrobat. We have to assume it’s because of his skill at thievery, but it’s one of many holes in a very uneven, well-trod plot.
Vincent reads like a caricature of any old vampire ever written. There isn’t much originality to him and it’s never clear why he and Liam care about one another. A small part of these problems may stem from the fact this is a translation, but the bigger issues come from poor character development and a plot that never evolves beyond a very simplistic format.
One of my biggest issues with The Acrobat is that is filled to the brim with child abuse and dubious consent. The child abuse is told as a part of Liam’s past, which is understandable. But literally everyone in his life or that he meets seems to be obsessed with sexually abusing young children. It’s awkward and uncomfortable, yet never treated with the depth it deserves. From the start, Liam is Vincent’s prisoner and their relationship is imbalanced. Liam is quite capable of verbally defending himself, but their sexual encounters are borderline rape. Liam does not say no, but nor did I feel he was ever in a place to do so. I won’t call it sexual assault outright, but nor was it as consensual as it should have been. I realize that dubious consent is a sub genre that some readers enjoy, but I’m not one of them.

Liam è un ladro professionista, il migliore nel suo campo, e proprio per questo gli viene commissionato un furto molto particolare. Il ragazzo, nonostante capisca fin da subito che il colpo in questione è molto più complesso degli altri, è costretto ad accettare a causa delle pessime condizioni di salute del suo migliore amico che ha bisogno di cure sempre più costose.
Vincent è un vampiro che ha perso quasi del tutto la voglia di vivere: quando scopre che un ladruncolo si è intrufolato in casa sua decide di vedere fino a che punto il ragazzo sia in grado di spingersi; rimane assolutamente sorpreso nel vedere il ladro riuscire ad entrare all’interno della sua più che protetta casa e osservandolo capisce che non si tratta di un ladro comune.
Vincent capisce che il ragazzo sta cercando un oggetto per lui molto prezioso e decide di catturarlo per cercare di scoprire il mandante del furto.
Liam e Vincent sono due personaggi molto particolari. Liam nella sua giovane vita ha dovuto affrontare tantissime difficoltà, ma nonostante questo non si è mai dato per vinto. Vincent ha perso il suo grande amore e con lui la voglia di vivere, ma quando incontra il nostro giovane acrobata viene travolto dalla sua personalità, capisce subito che Liam non è un umano come tutti gli altri e che tra loro c’è un legame speciale.
Come in tutti i libri di Agnes Moon i personaggi sono molto ben delineati e la trama non è mai scontata. Il libro è scritto in prima persona e alterna i punti di vista dei due protagonisti, rendendo la narrazione fluida e scorrevole, mai pesante né noiosa. Anche questa volta non manca il lato ironico che è una delle caratteristiche distintive di questa bravissima autrice. I riferimenti di Liam a Twilight, che fanno rabbrividire e arrabbiare Vincent, mi hanno fatto morire dal ridere.
I personaggi secondari sono molto interessanti e lasciano aperte varie strade per i successivi volumi di questa serie, che sono molto ansiosa di leggere. Tra questi personaggi il mio preferito è sicuramente Philip, per il momento non si è visto molto di questo “giovane” vampiro, ma quel poco che è stato detto mi ha decisamente incuriosita.
In conclusione posso dire che Agnes Moon è sicuramente la mia autrice italiana preferita e che anche questa volta non ha assolutamente deluso le mie aspettative. A mio parere questa nuova serie è ancora più bella di quella dei Lupi di Stockton Town” e “L’acrobata” è sicuramente il migliore tra i libri che ha scritto fino a questo momento.

È sempre uno spasso leggere i libri di Agnes! Non perchè siano leggeri o semplicemente umoristici ma perchè è bravissima nel creare personaggi e situazioni che ti lasciano con il sorriso sulle labbra, nonostante i temi trattati siano a volte molto seri. Avevo amato moltissimo la sua serie su "I Lupi di Stockton Town" ma ho trovato questo romanzo ancora più emozionanate ed appassionante. Liam è un ragazzo che conquista non appena entra in scena: ha avuto una vita difficile ma non si è mai arreso e non ha perso il suo spirito ribelle e la voglia di andare avanti. Vincent è un uomo misterioso che impariamo a conoscere a poco a poco, ma che possiede un fascino magnetico e oscuro che cattura non solo il povero ladruncolo ma anche il lettore.
Leggendo la storia scopriamo poi che hanno in comune molto più di quanto entrambi si aspetterebbero e, anche se la loro relazione vive momenti intensi, non mancano le difficoltà e le battute d'arresto.
Mi sono divorata questo romanzo senza riuscire a staccarmi un attimo e spero solo che esca prestissimo il prossimo della serie (e io mi sono già fatta un'idea su chi potrebbero essere i protagonisti!).

Altro giro, altra storia vincente. L'autrice cambia specie paranormale, ma fa centro un'altra volta e lasciati momentaneamente a riposo i Lupi di Stockton Town, ci porta nel mondo abile e funambolico del ladro Liam, conosciuto come l'Acrobata.
L'Acrobata non sbaglia mai un colpo, è freddo e distaccato, soprattutto nel suo "lavoro", ma è anche sfrontato e linguacciuto, ed è così che lo conosce Vincent che viene travolto, lui vampiro ultracentenario, da quella piccola furia. Ma Vincent piano piano riesce a oltrepassare la maschera dell'Acrobata e conosce il vero Liam, che ancora così giovane ne ha passate tante e che fa di tutto per proteggere le persone che ama. A questo proposito ricordo ad Agnes Moon che io sono quella che rompe con le coppie future, e qualcosa mi dice che... "piccolo e sfortunato amico di Acrobata e grosso vampiro scimmione, ma da tenero cuore, faranno bela belissima coppia, daaa!"

Tanto per restare in sintonia con Liam, ragazzino che ha avuto la sfortuna di trovarsi sommerso da problemi più grandi di lui e per sopravvivere ha dovuto adeguarsi. Ma non per questo ha perso la capacità di amare il suo migliore amico, l'onore alla parola data e... il senso dell'umore. Quanto ho riso con le sue battute

Bello da 4 stelline e mezzo. A differenza di altre autrici italiane lei ha una idea e riesce a trasformarla in una storia, storia che ti tiene incollata al kindle fino alla fine. voglio presto il seguito ovviamente!

This was well written story about a man with a dark secret and a young man with even darker secrets. Both are strong characters and you quickly become attached to both of them. Liam is a thief. A boy forced into the profession by circumstances that were painful and led to some PTSD. Vincent is a man of great age. Grieving for a lot love he has secluded himself in a mansion with hidden depths with only three of his coven to watch after him. things are getting out of hand in Vincent's coven and a takeover is being attempted. Danger, violence, torture, grief, mention of sexual abuse, finding your mate, and vampires. Can't beat that with a stick. Good book, must read.

The heart of a thief
I loved Liam. His attitude, his foul mouth, his quick wit; he is fantastic and I think Vincent is the lucky one in this book. Speaking of Vincent, he is a man with many depths and surprises. This entire story was amazing, wonderful, full of suspense and danger, and a page-turner I consumed in one sitting. An exceptional read.

This was a really cute enjoyable vampire story. Liam has been on the streets from a young age. He has taken a young man, Mal, under his wings and supports them both by thieving, pick pocketing, etc. Unfortunately, circumstances led them to be under the control Curt, a sort of pimp, though Liam manages to keep sex out of the equation thus far. In exchange for a place to live, Liam must bring in enough cash for the both of them. Mal has been sick as well, requiring more from Liam to cover the costs.
Liam agrees to take on one final job for Curt before he and Mal leave on their own. Unfortunately, he bites off a bit more than he can chew when he manages to break into the home of Vincent de Saint-Bonnet, a man with a very dark reputation.
I was pulled into this story right away. Liam, aka the Acrobat, is easy to like with his sassy mouth and quick wit. Likewise, Vincent is interesting and charming and a bit taken with his little thief. Unfortunately, there are a few things getting in the way, even though Vince believes Liam might be his coer du sang, or soul mate. Liam was after a special dagger, which happened to be one of the only weapons that can kill Vincent. All Liam knows is that he must retrieve it in order to save Mal and for them to be able to leave Curt. So, there is a bit of miscommunication along the way as well.
But, in the meantime, we have some great chemistry and banter as they each get to know one another and get to the bottom of things at the same time. It takes a while for the trust to happen, but it shines through in the end. I really enjoyed this story and read it in one sitting. I never would have guessed this was translated from another language and thought the translation was very well done. This is a new-to-me author, but I am definitely looking forward to reading more, especially book 2 of this new series.

This is a wonderful story. The Acrobat has been taking care of himself and a friend for years but when Vincent wants to keep him he doesn’t know if he should stay because of how he feels or run. Vincent has been looking for his soul mate for a long time and is amazed when the foul-mouthed little thief throws his carefully balanced world off kilter.
Liam and Vincent can’t deny their attraction for each other but continue to keep secrets that hurt their relationship. Vincent isn’t sure that he can ever forgive Liam for his betrayal but he can’t stop caring for him.
This book was originally written in Italian but translated by Kevin Houser and he did a great job. The book flowed well without the choppy feeling or odd words that I have often seen in other translations.
This story was told from both characters’ points of view which allowed the reader to know what they were both thinking and the kinds of things they were scared to share. Liam doesn’t know how to really trust someone and despite his instincts towards Vincent he easily assumes the worst and runs all while his heart is breaking. Vincent is overjoyed to have Liam in his life but past mistakes and assumptions make it hard for him to forgive and see what is really going on. I hope the series continues as indicated and I can’t wait to read about Boris and Mal.

Liam è un giovane dall’aspetto bellissimo (o almeno così immaginiamo dai dettagli seminati qua e là dall’autrice) che per vivere fa il ladro. Dal borseggio al furto più corposo, Liam cerca di sopravvivere in un mondo che sembra averlo dimenticato. Al suo fianco incontriamo Mal, un giovane ripudiato dalla sua famiglia perché omosessuale, che cerca di imparare i trucchi del mestiere dal maestro Liam l’acrobata.
Fin dall’inizio del libro impariamo a capire il carattere di Liam e Mal, il primo spavaldo e sicuro di se ha fatto del crimine un vero mestiere ed è sicuro al punto di sentirsi un maestro, Mal invece è un ragazzino impaurito che si è affidato alle cure del suo amico nella speranza di crearsi un nome e sopravvivere in un ambiente ostile e pericoloso.
Ben presto però i due ragazzi finiscono nei guai e da un semplice furto si ritrovano catapultati in un mondo nuovo, fatto di creature degne di un film di Dracula.
Liam incontra così Vincent e tra loro si crea subito un legame insolito.
Liam, degno figlio degli anni 2000 crede che i vampiri siano come quelli di Twilight e in più di una occasione chiede a Vincent se brilla al sole.
Immaginate la risata che mi sono fatta quando Vincent cerca di spiegare che i vampiri non hanno brillantini….
Liam è un giovane dall’aspetto bellissimo (o almeno così immaginiamo dai dettagli seminati qua e là dall’autrice) che per vivere fa il ladro. Dal borseggio al furto più corposo, Liam cerca di sopravvivere in un mondo che sembra averlo dimenticato. Al suo fianco incontriamo Mal, un giovane ripudiato dalla sua famiglia perché omosessuale, che cerca di imparare i trucchi del mestiere dal maestro Liam l’acrobata.

Dopo i Lupi di Stockton Town, stavolta l'autrice si concentra su un altro clan di creature soprannaturali, mantenendo in ogni caso lo stesso stile ironico e dolce-romantico.
Molte battute strappano il sorriso (inutile dire che ho sghignazzato sui riferimenti a Twilight), i personaggi sono davvero gradevoli e, nonostante la continua presenza di un "non temere, piccolo" qui e là (ma è una cosa che mi fa storcere il naso anche negli fm), si riesce ad evitare comunque l'effetto svenevolezza che ammorba una certa parte della produzione self italiana.
In conclusione, come già i suoi lupi, anche i vampiri della Moon si fanno leggere con piacere, e la coppia Liam-boccaccia e Vincent-vampiro secolare e compassato risulta più che azzeccata.
Da ultimo - ma è doveroso - un plauso all'italiano corretto e all'uso di un vocabolario ricco e variegato (mezza stellina in più).

I loved it. I'm surprised by that.
I usually hate books when the characters don't trust each other which result in angst. But I love it here! The guys aren't perfect. They are themselves. I could understand both their side of the story and why they acted the way they did. The characters developpment was well done.

Sorprendentemente spassoso. Sono le prime parole che mi vengono in mente pensando a questo libro. Di rado con un Urban Fantasy, tra vampiri centenari e criminali viscidi, ci si diverte.
Ma ciò accade se non avete ancora conosciuto Liam, l’Acrobata, un ladro che si ritrova a rubare in casa di un vampiro e le cui esternazioni, a voce alta o nei suoi pensieri, mi hanno fatta sghignazzare per tutta la durata del libro.
Si può dire che l’ho divorato, nonostante non ami in particolar modo la scrittura in prima a pov alternati. Ma l’autrice è stata davvero brava, perché è riuscita a rendere ben distinti i due personaggi e, anche non vedendo il nome a inizio paragrafo o capitolo, si era certi di chi fosse il punto di vista in quel momento.
Del resto, Vincent di certo non parlerebbe né penserebbe come quel ragazzino sboccato e sfacciato che si ritrova in piena notte in casa sua alla ricerca di un suo bene molto prezioso.
Le battute tra i due sono favolose, così come i momenti di passione. E non mancano nemmeno i momenti adrenalinici e di ansia (sul finale in piena notte ho iniziato a bestemmiare in una decina di lingue temendo il peggio.)
Questo è il secondo libro che leggo di Agnes Moon, e si conferma un’autrice da seguire con assoluto piacere.

ADOROH! Potrei rileggere mille volte questo libro e... lo adorerei ogni volta un pizzico di più. Questo volume ai tempi è stata una scoperta, non avevo assolutamente idea che fosse una serie e lo avevo iniziato proprio ritendolo uno standalone e... MAGIA. Mi sono innamorata follemente di tutti i personaggi, sia i principali che i secondari 😍
In questo primo capitolo facciamo la conoscenza del carismatico Liam, un ladruncolo che nella vita ne ha passate tante. Il giovane dopo aver perso la sua famiglia è stato costretto a vivere per strada. Ha conosciuto Mal, un ragazzo poco più giovane di lui e che è diventato come un fratellino. Dopo aver rubacchiato in giro è stato reclutato dal crudele Curt, un uomo meschino e interessato solo al denaro, disposto a sfruttare in ogni modo i poveri ragazzini che gli capitano a tiro. Liam ha solo un sogno, quello di poter un giorno allontanarsi da quel mondo criminale, trovare magari un appartamento sicuro e poter condividere un'esistenza serena in compagnia del suo "fratellino". Purtroppo... non tutto sembra andare per il meglio. Mal è cagionevole di salute e il crudele Curt non esita a chiedere sempre più soldi e favori al povero ladrucolo. L'acrobata viene quindi reclutato per una missione suicida: andare a rubare una preziosa daga a casa di Vincent un uomo... parecchio losco. Il riccone ha una nomea non proprio rosea, nell'ambiente se ne dicono tante su di lui, che sia uno spacciatore, un assassino, un serial killer spietato, un uomo dall'animo tenebroso e sanguinario. Una presentazione che farebbe scappare a gambe levate anche il più coraggioso dei ladri ma Liam non si dà per vinto, vuole solo salvare Mal e si butta nella missione finendo... ingabbiato. Viene imprigionato proprio da quell'uomo così denomiaco. Pensa che sia finita non rendendosi conto che la sua nuova vita sta per cominciare. L'uomo che infatti il povero ladro ha cercato di derubare non è un semplice criminale bensì un vampiro potentissimo. Vincent è il capo di un clan prestigioso ma nonostante il suo status sta combattendo con il dolore per la perdita del fidanzato. Il suo compagno umano è morto senza permettergli di salvarlo e Vincent ancora si sente responsabile. Quando si ritrova di fronte Liam pensa di avere tra le mani l'ennesimo ladruncolo da quattro soldi, un ragazzino mandato da qualche suo nemico a rubare la sua preziosa daga (l'unica arma in grado di ucciderlo) ma... ben presto si rende conto che c'è qualcosa di magico tra lui e quel fastidioso intruso. Liam è il suo cour du sang, il suo compagno predestinato e ovviamente Vincent non ha la minima intenzione di perderlo, di lasciarlo morire come il suo ex fidanzato.
La storia tra i due è super incasinata. Come se non bastasse la differenza di "specie" a rendere tutto ancora più complicato ci si mette di mezzo il caratterino di Liam, un ragazzo che è abituato a difendersi con le unghie e con i denti dal mondo. Liam ha paura ad aprirsi perchè spaventato dall'idea di essere tradito e ferito e la sua mancanza di fiducia provocherà non pochi problemi al compagno. Vincent deve riuscire non solo a far breccia nel cuore della sua anima gemella ma anche scoprire qual'è la mente criminale che si nasconde dietro il tentativo di furto. Inutile dire che il romanzo è super intrigante e divertente, con il giusto tocco di umorismo, erotismo e dolcezza. Fin da subito è impossibile non empatizzare con Liam e con la sua linguaccia. L'acrobata è uno di noi, un ragazzino che purtroppo ha avuto la sfortuna di essere lasciato a se stesso, abbandonato senza pietà anche da chi avrebbe dovuto difenderlo e proteggerlo. Liam è un tesoro che ti conquista a forza di risate e battutine. Non è il classico belloccio stupido e sottomesso ma un uomo forte e determinato, coraggio e desideroso di conquistare il suo posticino nel mondo. Non è privo di difetti e sono proprio il suo realismo e il suo modo di cadere e rialzarsi che mi ha conquistato, è un bel protagonista e Vincent riesce ad essere la metà perfetta. Nonostante il clichè vampiroso dell'uomo bello, sexy, ricco e potente riesce a brillare (non al sole come Edward ovviamente 🤣🤣🤣) dimostrandosi maturo, intelligente dolce... e anche un po' fragile. Nonostante sia al comando spesso fa errori, spesso non si rende conto della differenza tra lui e il suo compagno umano, si fa guidare dall'istinto e dal suo lato protettivo ma sotto tutti quei difettucci.... si nasconde un cuore di panna. Vincent è buono e gentile, si è chiuso in se stesso e ha rinunciato ad innamorarsi per paura di perdere nuovamente il proprio amato e dovrà faticare non poco per riuscire a intraprendere il giusto cammino. Solo con fatica riuscirà a mostrare a Liam la sua vera anima e ad aiutarlo a ricominciare a vivere. Mi sono piaciuti moltissimo. Nonostante all'inizio avessi un po' storto il naso per la dinamica da carceriere/prigioniero tutto si è fortunatamente sistemato in poco tempo. Non abbiamo un rapporto morboso o una sindrome di Stoccolma e nonostante ci sia di mezzo l'elemento "anima gemella" i due personaggi hanno modo di conoscersi e innamorarsi con il tempo. Nonostante la componente fantasy il loro rapporto è abbastanza realistico e si crea con il tempo, con sbagli, lacrime, perdono e tanto coraggio. Mi sono piaciuti i personaggi e ho adorato come l'autrice sia riuscita a raccontarci la storia d'amore tra i protagonisti e nel frattempo a presentarci tutta la sottotrama che si porterà avanti nel corso della serie facendoci innamorare a prima vista di Mal, Boris, Bastien e tutti i loro buffi amici :D
Un inizio con il botto che ho amato e che vi consiglio caldamente!

Interesting concept and trope. The characters needed to be fleshed out a bit more. I never felt a connection between the MCs.
I have never read a book where it was primarily told in 1st person POV and occasionally both characters used 2nd person. Finally, the epilogue was told in 3rd person. It didn’t really affect the story for me, just an interesting concept.

I really, really, enjoyed this book.
From the very beginning, I was drawn into the settings and imagery painted so vividly by the author. Being pulled into the world of the young thief, Liam, using his wits and talents to survive and to protect a younger friend who is more like a brother to him, made me sympathetic to his plight and forgiving of his actions. The author drew a picture of this underbelly of the world with well placed descriptions and emotions that had me envisioning the anger, fear and desperation of these poor lost souls shunned by society. Watching them battle to overcome such hopeless circumstances was heart wrenching.
The paranormal aspect was a pleasant surprise. Vincent’s world was well thought out, but was not overwhelming in it’s descriptions. I like that. This leaves me wanting more and anxious to read the next book in the series, giving me something that I can later sink my teeth into.
The interactions between Liam and Vincent were fraught with distrust and anger even as they embarked on a scorching hot sexual relationship. I could feel the confusion, anxiety and fear as they learned about each other and gave in to their deeper feelings.
The overwhelming feelings of love were honest in their depth and very satisfying in the HEA they provided.
I laughed, I cried, and I cursed the horrible villains, cheering when some of them were defeated.
The author gave me a beginning to a series that I can enjoy and look forward to. The translator did an excellent job and if I hadn’t been told, I would not have known it was a translation.
I will read more from this author.

WOW!!! WOW!!! This is the first book I've read by this author, I think its the first one of her's translated into English, but I cannot wait for the next one, hopefully the sequel to this book!! I wasn't sure what to expect from this book because the blurb is a bit sparse in its description. Had I known it was about vampires and such, I'm not sure I would have read it as those books usually do not interest me. I heard about this book from other readers who were raving about it. I'm glad I didn't pass this up, because it quickly became one of my favorite reads of the past year!!!
The Acrobat is the story of Liam, a young man who had become one of the best thief's around. His backstory reads like Oliver Twist, being forced as a teenager to work for a local crime boss. Liam also has a best friend, Mal, who had some health problems. In order to get Mal the medical help he needs, Liam agrees to steal a valuable dagger from a local wealthy man. What Liam doesn't know is that this man, Vincent, has some secrets of his own!
When Liam is captured in the act by Vincent and held captive. (Vincent has some secrets he wants to remain secret and needs to know who is behind this attempted theft) Vincent quickly realizes that this sexy little thief is his fated mate. As Vincent's secrets are revealed to Liam, Liam struggles with his overwhelming attraction to Vincent, while still trying to finish the job and help out his best friend Mal. Vincent, meanwhile, has to balance his need to claim Liam as his mate while trying to figure out who is out to kill him with the dagger.
The Acrobat turns some of the traditional vampire stories on its ear. I loved the references to Twilight sprinkled throughout the book as Liam expects Vincent to glitter in the sunlight or be cold to the touch, none of which are true in this version of vampires.
The best part of this book though, are the characters. They are rich with development. You truly feel as if you get to know them personally and understand their conflicted motivations. The best stories I read are those with great characters, and that is why this book rates so high with me.
Throw in a lot of very hot sex, and The Acrobat is one of my top reads.
I did recieve a free copy of this book in exchange for a review, but that did not influence my feelings about this book. The end of the book sets up a sequel and I, for one, cannot wait for it to arrive. I also hope that more of Ms. Moon's books will be translated from their original Italian. I think I've found a new author to add to my list of favorites!
The Acrobat is the story of Liam, a young man who had become one of the best thief's around. His backstory reads like Oliver Twist, being forced as a teenager to work for a local crime boss. Liam also has a best friend, Mal, who had some health problems. In order to get Mal the medical help he needs, Liam agrees to steal a valuable dagger from a local wealthy man. What Liam doesn't know is that this man, Vincent, has some secrets of his own!
When Liam is captured in the act by Vincent and held captive. (Vincent has some secrets he wants to remain secret and needs to know who is behind this attempted theft) Vincent quickly realizes that this sexy little thief is his fated mate. As Vincent's secrets are revealed to Liam, Liam struggles with his overwhelming attraction to Vincent, while still trying to finish the job and help out his best friend Mal. Vincent, meanwhile, has to balance his need to claim Liam as his mate while trying to figure out who is out to kill him with the dagger.
The Acrobat turns some of the traditional vampire stories on its ear. I loved the references to Twilight sprinkled throughout the book as Liam expects Vincent to glitter in the sunlight or be cold to the touch, none of which are true in this version of vampires.
The best part of this book though, are the characters. They are rich with development. You truly feel as if you get to know them personally and understand their conflicted motivations. The best stories I read are those with great characters, and that is why this book rates so high with me.
Throw in a lot of very hot sex, and The Acrobat is one of my top reads.
I did recieve a free copy of this book in exchange for a review, but that did not influence my feelings about this book. The end of the book sets up a sequel and I, for one, cannot wait for it to arrive. I also hope that more of Ms. Moon's books will be translated from their original Italian. I think I've found a new author to add to my list of favorites!

This is the most amazing book I have read in a long time. It tells the story of a group of thieves gathered together to steal a valuable dagger from the home of the mysterious Vincent de Saint-Bonnet who turns out to be a vampire. The group are led by The Acrobat who has been stealing for as long as he can remember and they have been gathered together by their "protector" think along the lines of Oliver meets Twilight.
There is so much humour and character in this story and it draws you in immersing you so you feel like you are a part of the action taking place around you. It is hard to remember that this is a translation. Kevan Houser has done a remarkable job on what must have been an amazing original piece of work from Agnes Moon.
I really look forward to reading more work from this pair.

Dopo aver conosciuto quest’autrice con un’altra saga soprannaturale, che mi è piaciuta e continuerò a seguire, mi sono lanciata su questa storia con grandi aspettative, perché la sinossi mi intrigava parecchio.
Devo dire che l’idea c’è, la trama – pur con qualche cliché consumato – ha il suo perché e un buon potenziale. Ma devo anche ammettere che non mi ha catturato del tutto. Sì, è una lettura piacevole e mi ha intrattenuta, ma l’unico momento in cui mi sono sentita davvero coinvolta è stato per il doloroso passato di Liam: gli abusi e i soprusi, di cui è stato vittima, mi hanno davvero fatto provare pena per lui.
Mi piace il fatto che il suo personaggio si sia piegato alla crudeltà della vita senza spezzarsi, che sia intrepido e scavezzacollo, pronto a tutto e senza scrupoli, ma in fondo ha mantenuto un animo buono e generoso e il suo affetto per Mal ne è una prova.
Il terribile vampiro centenario mi è parso un po’ psicotico nell’alternare momenti in cui si doleva per le cicatrici passate di Liam e, nel momento successivo, lui faceva altrettanto. Allo stesso modo, la sua indignazione verso le insidie sessuali vissute dal giovane sembra sincera, eppure un attimo dopo gli salta addosso – secondo me, con poca coerenza – a prescindere dal richiamo delle anime gemelle. Nel corso della storia, Vincent fa venir voglia di picchiarlo e coccolarlo, ma alla fine fa la cosa giusta.
Ah, i suoi scagnozzi, sotto sotto, hanno un cuore di panna, altro che vampiri sanguinari!
Concludendo: ci sono cose che mi sono piaciute e altre meno, i due protagonisti ci regalano anche delle belle scene, molto hot e dolci; i momenti drammatici si mescolano ad altri comici e ironici, anche se le parolacce sono forse un po’ troppe e il troppo stroppia.
Consiglierei una revisione della punteggiatura, soprattutto per alcune virgole mancanti.
Lettura suggerita per qualche ora di intrattenimento, in attesa del seguito.

Divertente, romantico, vagamente inquietante e decisamente eccitante. L'acrobata è un libro che ho letto anni fa, quando uscì per la prima volta e che continuando a rileggerlo non perde mai smalto, anzi, ne acquista.
Liam con la sua fragilità ed il suo essere comunque un uomo dalla tempra e dalla tenacia stoica, Vincent, vampiro centenario distrutto dal suo primo amore che lo ha abbandonato ad una vita di solitudine, sono due protagonisti molto belli, complementari nelle loro differenze e destinati a guarirsi a vicenda anche a costo di farsi del male. La loro storia d'amore, nata non certo nel migliore dei modi, si evolve bene, in maniera non troppo sbrigativa e con un raziocinio invidiabile. La fiducia tra i due non è costruita come per magia e anche i vari momenti di incomprensione fanno solo crescere il realismo della storia in sé.
Ben descritti e strutturati anche i personaggi secondari, che non vengono rilegati a meri spettatori ma che hanno anche il loro peso, seppur minimo, all'interno della trama stessa.
Personalmente amo i romanzi scritti in prima persona e poter vedere il punto di vista non solo di Liam ma anche di Vincent mi è piaciuto molto e mi ha permesso di immedesimarmi in entrambi i personaggi.
Unica pecca: avrei dedicato maggior spazio alla struttura della società vampirica e al mondo sovrannaturale in generale e alla provenienza o motivazione di esistere della fantomatica "dague des anges" che ha mosso il tutto, ma sinceramente sono proprio pagliuzze che si devono trovare a forza in un libro che sinceramente continuerò a rileggere per molto tempo.

Interesting take on vampires.
Not the usual vampire tale. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. There was a couple of "really"? Moments for me. But I tend to question a lot of things when reading.

one of the main characters, Liam, was immediately and totally lovable. The way he cared for his fried Mal was so loving and selfless. And being willing to steal to help Mal with his health issues seemed totally within Liam's character and made me root for this young man even more.
After being forced to take a job to steal something specific in order to make sure Mal continues to get the medical care he needs, he quickly finds himself in a situation he has no earthly idea how to handle.
The story only gets better from there as we are introduced to Vincent, the other MC. Their initial interactions are tense and full of unusual feelings, on both their sides. This is a book that is well worth reading, as it reads fast and smooth while the story unfolds. I was more than happy to award this book 5 stars!

Delightful Vampire Tale
Ok, this is not an especially lighthearted story. It is HEA. From desperate circumstances, a talented thief known as the Acrobat finds himself in the home of real-life vampires. This thief has a heart of gold. Caught by the ancient ghoul, a long courtship ensues while Acrobat is held captive. Misunderstandings ensue; dangers threaten; but Acrobat and his vampire overcome.
This is a well-written tale with a true love focus. Readers have a very sympathetic MC who falls for a formerly ruthless vampire. It’s themes are dark, but Acrobat manages to survive all threats just in time. I really enjoyed this one, and recommend it to all.

Brillante
Adoro i romance comici e questo è sicuramente uno dei più divertenti m/m letti finora. L'autrice ha grande talento, padronanza della lingua italiana, senso del ritmo nella narrazione. Il protagonista è un piccolo teppistello dall'aspetto angelico e l'eloquio di uno scaricatore di porto e il contrasto è davvero efficace. Forse un pochino più scontato il coprotagonista, ma nell'insieme il libro ha soddisfatto tutte le alte aspettative che nutrivo dopo aver letto il meraviglioso Come rapire un alfa e vivere felici.

Veramente bello e scorrevole. Ho apprezzato soprattutto i personaggi e tra tutti Liam; scaltro, intelligente, di buon cuore e molto simpatico. Solida la trama, fantastico lo stile, ma questo me lo aspettavo, avendo letto altri libri dell'autrice. L'unico motivo per cui do 4 stelle e non 5 è che secondo me le scene di sesso sono un po' forzate specialmente all'inizio. Ammetto che ho fatto fatica a comprendere come nasca l'attrazione tra i due, che invece mi è sembrata più credibile verso la fine.

Carino, molto più a fuoco degli altri, si capisce come l'autrice stia via via maturando e crescendo. E la cosa lascia ben sperare.
