This was a book that I easily could have plowed through because I just wanted to keep learning, but I had to pace myself and take notes - to really absorb all of this amazing info. I have been a huge fan of Nadine Artemis for years and we’ve used her products for a long time, but to read a book written by her was such a magical experience. She writes so poetically and her passion literally radiates off of the pages. After reading the first couple of chapters, I decided I had to order my mom her own copy because it was that good! This is a book that I will forever keep and refer back to...and loan out to friends.
Nadine’s love for natural health and body care AND nature itself speaks to my very core. Much of the information she provides in these pages are supported by science and/or looking back in history at how our health as a people has severely declined. While my family and I already do/use a lot of which she discusses in here, Chapter Nine on breast health really blew me away and has me reevaluating all that we’ve been told by doctors. The chapters are loaded with knowledge and explained so perfectly. This is not strictly about beauty, it really takes a look at the body as a whole and how to better treat your skin (and insides) with utmost care...like a temple. I truly believe everyone should read this - what a gift! And speaking of gifts, THANK YOU, Jen for sending me my copy!!

I was pretty into the first part of this book, and then got lost in the recipes and focus on essential oils. It was helpful to learn about the microbiome (gut and skin) and definitely made me think about scrubbing with chemicals in a different way. Was also a good reminder that you are what you eat - and I'll probably avoid unfermented soy from now on.

Beautiful, absolutely beautifully written and so insightful. Just reading this book is healing.

The book starts with the history of beauty and health and the pinnacle point in where we were cut away from mother nature and left afloat in a toxic world - in my opinion.

The book shows us how we can get back to our roots, limit the amount of toxins, helps heal and regenerate from the inside out, all with the help of nature and in doing so, in protecting the beautiful world we live in.

There are helpful recipes, solutions and advice for all matter of topical ailments.

I loved the depth of the research and all the extra resources available. You can read the love and devotion put into every word and page of this book.

This is the most sacred book I have and I am always referring back to it.

Absolutely love this book.

Enforced my take on beauty, helped to let go of some insecurities, changed my healthcare&selfcare&beauty routine in the best way possible. Also encouraged me to pursue a new hobby. Lots of knowledge and so easy to read. Need to get my own hardcopy.

I am not sure about this book.
Although it brings a lot of interesting ideas about how to respect the body naturally, it is based on very poor evidence. At some points, I am not sure how valid the claims are

Good beginner book for people who want to dive into natural beauty! Most of it was information I already knew and I didn't like that pretty much every recipe involved essential oils which I don't like to use in my natural medicines. I did learn a decent amount though.

Lots of good information, more citations throughout would have been nice. The writing style was difficult for me. Alliterations and rhymes crammed together that make it difficult to take in the information.

The worst part about this book is that she knows a lot of what she's talking about, but then she'll start talking about some really weird, woo-woo, unsubstantiated, peer-reviewed science, like calcium carbonate, for instance. And I'm going to have to stick up my ass about that, because that is the best source of calcium that you can get. It has great bioavailability. In fact, I take it, because that's what we distribute to one of our babies, and my calcium is actually a little bit too high for taking thatProbiotics, bacteria, great stuff. The idea of washing your skin with oil, that's not washing your skin, that's oiling your skin, which is totally different. Skin care is very important, having healthy microbiota population in your gut, in your mouth, and on your skin. Absolutely, these are extremely important things. They're very beneficial. But she really does not know what she's talking about for a lot of this book, and it goes back and forth. It's why when people talk about like electricity works, for instance, they say, well, you know, I know enough about it to hurt myself. It's like, yeah, you guys know a lot enough about things to hurt yourself. This girl knows enough to hurt herself and a lot of other people too.I'm really interested in the essential oils, but they aren't going to be a cure for all the things that she's talking about because she didn't back that up with science. She just said, take this. It'll heal you. It's like, okay, medicine shaman lady. And yes, you should wear sunscreen. I wear sunscreen, but I do recommend making sure that it uses more natural ingredients like zinc oxide. That's good for your skin. That's good for the coral reefs. We distributed that for a while out in Hawaii as well..

“The source that unfurls leaves on a tree is the same source that unfurls the beauty of your being. You are nature; and naturally, nature is you.”

This book is more than a beauty book, it’s written with women’s health as the priority and expressing their natural beauty through mindful practices that don’t include a 15 step face wash routine or going broke in an MLM scheme to feel beautiful in their own skin. For example, rather than seeing cellulite as a problem for women to slap on expensive, toxic creams as a quick fix, the author instead pays tribute to women’s bodies and how we are “energy storing experts” in order to sustain ourselves and the potential of having babies. Then she provided natural practices such as dry brushing, changes in diet, increasing activity levels, and massaging with essential oils and carrier oils as symptom minimizing techniques. Practical information, but more beautifully delivered than what is marketed to women in the drugstore.

So many women hate the body they’re in because society shames them into believing that their body is not good enough. This type of poetically written book with real action steps to heal a woman from the inside out, focusing on gut health, mindfulness, and treating physical symptoms with natural 3-5 ingredient concoctions. The author restores my hope for women to take control of their health by minimizing the use of hormone disrupting makeups, artificially drying soaps, and just plain environmentally hazardous garbage that keeps women Capitalism’s favorite consumer.

Just such a fun read, I couldn't put it down. I can see how this wouldn't be for everyone, but if you enjoy Living Libations, want to adopt a more natural lifestyle, or are into the alternative health space, then this should be enjoyable. She has an unquencahble curiosity and is simply offering up what she has personally studied and practiced throughout the years. When it comes to these sort of health advice things, I understand that everyone has opinions, so I take the information offered as exactly that: an opinion. If you can also take everything with a grain of salt, keep an open mind, and continue to question what she offers up but also what contradicting voices offer up then you will also really enjoy this.
EWG gives essential oils a pretty horrendous rating so it was super interesting hearing about an opposing perspective, it's inspired me to do further research but also listen to my body and intuition when it comes to these sorts of things.

This book brings together my two favorite things: the outdoors and skincare. I related so fiercely with the author’s nostalgia for being outside as a child and collecting plants. I still tell my kids about my days of making potions and salads out of the trees and bushes that grew wild in our backyard. I can’t explain enough how much I loved this book. The source material is so helpful. The recipes are a great addition- though I haven’t personally tried any yet, I do plan to. And I honestly think this will be a book I have to read again and again to get the most information from it. I read a library copy and immediately knew I had to purchase a copy for myself!

This book was AMAZING! I was so intrigued by all the detailed, thorough information. The author put in so much research into her career. Very admirable of her to seek natural ways for everything. Definitely something I’ll be referencing forever. I always knew that in our day and age we have a lot of chemicals, harmful products, etc. After this book I learned even more. I just didn’t like that this book had so much focus on meditation. Some things I was wary of and skimmed over. But overall this book is phenomenal!

Content deserves a four, but there was too much promotion of her own business and materials. I loved this, but the way it was laid up made it very hard to read. I think they should have went for a chapter-type book OR a coffee-style book. I think it would have set up better with more images and would have been beautiful as a coffee-table-esque book. The content is good though and I admire Nadine for her research and work on taking beauty back to the basics.

A plethora of information that inspired me to awaken to a new way of viewing products, skincare, health and vitality. Not sure it’s a 5-star book for most, but for a path toward nature’s utilization for the body (skin, teeth), it’s a winner. Nadine Artemis exudes beauty, and poetically informs, inspires, and highlight’s nature’s integration with our own healing through its oils, seeds, and hydrators. Interesting info. Have loved her products. Feel blessed that I discovered Living Libations.

I've been following Nadine's work for a few years now, and so quite was excited to read this book. It definitely met and frequently exceeded my expectations. I learned a good deal, and recommend this to anyone interested in being their best self and re-discovering and re-connecting with nature and plants for wellbeing, and for a more thorough understanding of the earth and the Creator's unbelievably magnificent system of living things.

Part memoir, part practical tips, full of info on why you should not be using all those chemicals most Americans are. While I am pretty woke in terms of what products I use on my skin, this still gave me some insight and info. Highly recommended.
