As a singer in a popular band, Grace Delchamp lives for the spotlight…

Her music and motorcycle are all she needs while doing what she loves most—performing. Her only problem is guitarist Brent Mouton, who can’t take no for an answer. After Grace rejects him one too many times, her life changes for the worse when she wakes up next to Brent with no memory of what happened the night before.

When everything is taken away from you in the blink of an eye, all you can do is start over…

Broken, Grace leaves her life in the spotlight behind and heads back home to Bon Chance, Louisiana. Deciding to dust off her degree and accept a job as a substitute teacher, Grace finds herself bonding with a group of rebellious and unruly students. What she didn’t count on, however, was running into her old high school friend, Gabriel Angelle.

When life gives you a second chance, you need to be strong enough to grab it…

Gabriel has always been crazy about Grace, yet the fear of losing her friendship kept him from confessing his true feelings. Now, years later and with newfound confidence, he finally has the chance to go after what he has always wanted—her. After discovering the truth behind Grace’s panic attacks, Gabe is determined to do whatever it takes to help her recover.

Love can sometimes be found in the most unusual of places, but will Grace be brave enough to embrace it when she’s already running on empty…?

Running on Empty is the second book I the Fleur de Lis series. This story is a second chance story and I loved as much if not more that the first. This story is about Grace Delchamp a musician, who is loving her life, she loves her music and her motorcycle and she travels around. The perfect life! That all changes in one night. A night she can’t even remember properly. The only thing she can think to do is to go back to her hometown of Bon Chance, Louisiana. Once she is in Bon Chance she get a job as a substitute teacher and it’s in her hometown that she sees Gabriel Angelle again.
Gabriel Angelle is Graces friend from school, he has always had feelings for Grace but has never told her and she has never been aware either. These two have a fantastic bond and I loved reading how they reconnected. Grace has a secret, will she tell Gabriel or will he find out before she can tell him and will Gabriel still want to be with her and have Grace in his life once he knows what it is?
I love how A.L. Vincent builds her characters and the way she writes the story makes you fall in love with them. This story has it all, laughter, tragedy and most importantly love and trust. It is a great easy read. I couldn’t wait to get to the end to see how the story unfolded but at the same time I didn’t want it to end.
This is my second A.L. Vincent book and I’m looking forward to reading the next one!

Grace loved performing on stage with the band that she was the lead singer in. Music was her life and she really couldn’t see herself doing anything else with her life. One night after she and the band had finished a set she saw her brother Joey and friends at the bar she was singing in. She was surprised as she didn’t know they were coming to hear her sing and play.

Grace surprised everyone by moving back to Bon Chance and even more surprised that she had left the band. Her brother and her close set of friends knew that there was something very wrong as her personality was not the same and she didn’t seem to have much life in her eyes. Not only did her life feel like a train wreck but she also felt the ability to sing slowly slipping away. Everyone wanted to know what was wrong but she couldn’t bring herself to tell t hem.

One night while she was trying to sing with Gabe on stage at Snappers Brent showed up. Freezing she forgot the line to the song and when it was over she tried to leave Snappers and get to the safety of the beach. Brent at first wouldn’t let her past instead was enjoying through sarcasm at her, reminding her of the night they spent together, the night she was trying to forget. Finally making her escape she made it to the beach. She heard someone coming up behind her and saw it was Gabe, Gabe the man who was being so sweet to her so why was she pushing him away all the time? Gabe tried to talk to Grace but she asked him to get Ryder for her.

When Ryder joined her on the beach she collapsed in his arms and told him the whole story of why she was back in Bon Chance. After hearing the story Ryder was furious and went back to the bar. Gabe asked him if Grace was ok. Ryder told him her story was bad, really bad but it was her story to tell.

Running on Empty is the second in the Fleur de Lis book series by A.L. Vincent that I gave 4 out of 5 stars. This is another great romance that's more sweet than sultry. It can be read as part of the series, or as a stand-alone. This novel is written in alternating first person POVs by the two main characters: Grace and Gabriel. Once again, another "Boonie" returns home to Bon Chance, LA after falling on hard times.
Grace has always been the wild artistic one who takes charge of all aspects of her life. As a lead singer for a band, she lives for attention and accolades. She's been thriving on it all these years.
But after a horrifying incident with her guitarist she leaves it all behind to go back home to Bon Chance and regroup. She needs a change, desperately. Leaving music in the dust, she becomes a substitute teacher. She didn't leave it all on the stage though, her rebellious attitude still resides with her as she befriends the more "troubled" students of the school. All the while, an old friend who has held a torch for her all these years is still watching over her. Gabriel isn't the same shy boy too scared to ask for what he wants. He found his confidence, and his voice. As they fall back into a close friendship, will she be open to becoming more? Will she be able to trust a man again?
Another sweet love story! Loved that we get a little more on the characters that make up the "Boonies". All the characters were well developed, and the story line was steadily paced. The author does an excellent job at writing small moments that make you enjoy the little things. Can't wait to read more from her!

This is the second book to the series Fleur de Lis. I fell in love with the story as soon as I started to read it. This can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend to read the first book Tangled Up In You. The main characters in the first book play some important roles in this new story. I love books that show you how the other couple is doing now. I read this book in only a day and a half. This story will have you hooked on the first page.

This story starts off with the beautiful and talented Grace Delchamp. Her passion is music and bikes. That is why she followed her dreams to New Orleans. She has it all a great career as a singer with her band and people that love to hear her sing. Her only problem in life is her lead guitarist Brent Mouton. He wants Grace and he will not take no for an answer. One night she is having a good time singing at a local bar and to celebrate her awesome set she goes out with Brent as a friend. Next thing she remembers is total blackness. She wakes up the next morning and her life changes in an instant. She is so humiliated and hurt she decides to leave her dreams behind.
Grace knows exactly where to go to heal her heart:home. Home is where she feels safe with her older brother and friends. She needs to have a fresh new start to forget what happened in New Orleans. She finds herself in a new substitute teaching job. She needs to make money some how. Her heart's not into music anymore. She loves her students but the school has really strict rules. She ends up reconnecting with her brother and his friends and they are a group again. She ends up running into her high school friend Gabriel Angelle. They start to reconnect their relationship. Will she ever fit in this new life or will she always feel like an outsider? Will she always look at her friend Gabe as just a friend or could he be the safe place she is looking for?

Gabriel Angelle is visiting his hometown on a band break. He finds out that his high school crush is back in town too. He is determined to make a move on her this time. He is scared that if he tells her how he feels he might lose his good friend. He still wants her but he is going to take it slow so he doesn't scare her off. When he finally sees her he is instantly attracted to her again. He knows he has to make her his. He soon discovers that Grace is not the same girl he once knew. She doesn't have that flicker of life in her anymore. She is more quiet and distant towards him. When he finds out what is bothering her can he be her rock or will they both crumble? Will he finally get his girl or will he be put back into the friend zone?

This book has it all friendships, family, love, and deception. I loved every minute of this book. The whole time you are rooting for both of the characters. You are rooting for Grace to get her new life on track and also rooting for Gabe to get his girl. I also love how that it continues with the main group The Boonies. I love finding out how the other characters are doing while meeting new characters. This author knows how to keep you on your toes. This is another amazing read from this author. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for this group next.

Grace Delchamp is the leading singer of a band, being on stage under the spot light is exactly where she wanted to be music is everything to her she didn’t know what to do without it, its like music ran through her veins . Life comes crashing down around her and she leaves the band and the secrets she carries and move back to Bon Chance. Everyone is shocked that she’s moved back her brother a close friends have noticed she’s not the same and something was seriously wrong her eyes no longer have the light in them and her personality just wasn’t the same but she wouldn’t tell them the secrets she had. Will she let anyone in? Gabe is her old high school friend but Gabe always wanted more with Grace but he never shared his feelings with her, never admitted he loved her he kept it hidden as he didn’t want to ruin there friendship. Will Gabe finally open up to Grace about his feelings for her and get the girl? Things are definitely not simple between them there’s a lot going on in Grace life what happens when Gabe finds out what she’s been hiding will he stick around or will he flee....??
Wow I really enjoyed Graces and Gabe’s story its a second chance romance full of twists and turns and keeps you at the edge of your seat. Its full of so many emotions its funny , sad and has it fair share of drama to me that makes a awesome novel and a definite page turner you wouldn’t be disappointed at all. This is the second book to the fleur de Lis series you can read this as a standalone but I would recommend reading tangled up in you first so you can really enjoy the series.

Running on Empty is a five star book by AL Vincent. This is the second book in the Fleur de Lis series. Grace Delchamp grew up in a small town with a really great group of friends called the Boonies. After college, she decides to move to New Orleans so that she can see if she can make a go of her whole music career. She loves to play and loves the feeling of performing. After several years of holding her own with her band in New Orleans, she is really excited about where her life is taking her. Then Brent happened. He is persistent. She is uninterested. After being turned Dow one too many times, Brent takes matters into his own hands. When Grace wakes up the next morning with Brent by her side and in her bed, she has no idea how that happened. She knows she would never willingly let him touch her. When she says something to him, he just laughs it off and tells her his uncle, the dirty cop, is the one who gave him the drugs so nothing could ever happen to him. No one will believe her. When she feels like she has nowhere left to turn, she hops on her motorcycle and heads back home. She needs to feel the love and support of her friends back home and knows the only way to get back to herself is to recharge in the small town she grew up in. Being from a small town myself, I have totally felt the way she feels by being overwhelmed with life and just needing to escape reality to a place that really still feels like home. So many problems can be solved and hearts can mend by being in a place where you are loved and cared for closely.

“Deepest are the wounds without a scar at all.”

Grace has a lot of hidden scars and secrets. A traumatizing event happens one night with a band mate and changes everything. It puts fear and anger in her eyes. Everyone can see it. She’s not ready to share what happened that night, even being back home with her closest friends and loved ones.

I loved how close all the friends are in this book. They are believable and feel like genuine relationships that I’ve been a part of my whole life, not just fictional characters in a story. They all played an important role in each other’s life and it was a breath of fresh air. They understand and stick up for one another no matter what, no questions asked.

“Not I, Grace. We. We can do this. And we will. Together.”

Gabe is awesome for Grace. He’s patient and kind, he helped bring her back to life. She needed that extra little kick to decide what’s next for her and her life. They’ve been friends for a long time, but he’s loved her even longer.

Friends turned lovers, unbreakable friendships, hometown romance, I love this story and the real good-feeling vibe it gives off. Despite the bad, this group of friends can get through it all together.

This book is a great read. It shows what can happen to an individual that has faced a traumatic experience. It shows two different types of experience and how each individual works through it.

Running on empty is the second book in the Fleu de Lis series by A.L. Vincent. If you enjoyed reading the first book then you will enjoy this book. If you looking for a cute story where second chances are possible this book is for you. The story is very easy to follow and some of the characters from her first book are present in the second book.

The story follows Grace and Gabe, they connection and seconds chances that they encounter with each other. The story background is set very quickly when Grace has everything that she has ever asked for... music and a motorcycle. After playing one night at a bar, she wakes up and does not remember anything. She realizes this is not the life that she wants to be and escapes back to her hometown in Bon Chance Louisana. The name, Bon Chance, just sets the whole stage for the book.

In the town you can not help be swept up in the atmosphere that the author writes for about the French Quarter music, bar hoppin on Bourbon street. I felt like this book was a good read, especially since today is fat tuesday :). I felt like I didn't have to travel to get a piece of the town.

Grace and Gabe are long time friends that both went away to do their own thing. Gabe has always loved Grace but never wanted to tell her. He liked his friendly relationships with her when they were kids and does not want to ruin that. Since being back in town, Gabe has changed for the better. He is more confident, hot, buff, and ready to take a chance with Grace. Even though Grace has returned back home.. she is different. Her family realizes that something happened but they do not know what. They know that she has changed and she is not herself. Who can she turn to and open up to tell what is going on? Now that they are both back in town at the same time, they are taking chances are making a relationship together. But Grace came back home because of a secret and will that secret make their relationship stronger or will one of them run away?

I can not help but fall in love with this book. Everyone always comes to a time in their life when they do not know what they are doing and where they are going and need a second chance. Questions are raised and you can't help but wonder what if? The book was a page turner for me because of the drama, humor, sadness, and twists that make you wonder what is going to happen next.

Running On Empty by A.L. Vincent. Rated 4 stars

I enjoyed this book much better than the last one. The first book had to do all the background on all the characters which is a lot more work. This one just mostly tells the story with touches on the past. This is book 2 in the series and it could be a stand alone book. Although you would get better enjoyment out of all the characters if you read the previous book. This one did give more insight into Noah and his PTSD. This is the story of Gabe and Gracie. Gabe has loved Gracie for years but has always been afraid to tell her. He wanted her to notice HIM. Recently he has changed his appearance and it has given him more confidence. He heard Gracie was returning to Bon Chance so he decides to take a few months off and put all his cards on the table.

Gracie really had a tough time. I completely understand her stress among other things. I didn't really look at her leaving the band as running away more like self preservation. Noah was a godsend to her. I am not sure if she would have been able to figure out how to function without him.
I enjoyed Gabes character but often wondered why he didn't step up. It is obvious his feelings for Gracie to the others but she seemed blind to him. I almost felt sorry for him sometimes and kudos to him for not being jealous over Ryder and Gracie's relationship. It seemed many times she would go to Ryder for comfort. I know they were besties but shouldn't Gabe come first? Not so sure I would be able to keep my mouth shut and I would probably ruin any chance of a relationship.
Good second book for the series

RUNNING ON EMPTY (Fleur de Lis Book 2)
AUTHOR: A. L. VINCENT

FIVE STARS

RUNNING ON EMPTY is the second book in the FLEUR DE LIS series by A. L. Vincent. A. L. Vincent is a refreshing author and she has written a great addition to her phenomenal new series. It is also a heartwarming story about second chance romance and life-long friendships. Her adorable characters continue to draw me into their story and root for them to have their own happily ever after. A. L. takes us back to the charming town of Bon Chance, Louisiana for Grace and Gabe’s sweet love story.

Grace was the lead singer in a very well known band and she has an amazing voice. Music was her life until one terrible night she had an unspeakable encounter with the guitarist in her group and her life changed completely. Unable to deal with the circumstances, she packs her bags, leaves the group and heads back home to Bon Chance to try and deal with the situation and put it behind her. She realizes it isn’t going to be easy to forget and prepares for a long, hard journey. She accepts a job as a substitute teacher and starts to recover when she runs into Gabe, an old friend that she used to play with in their high school band.

Gabe has secretly been in love with her for years. He knows something is wrong with Grace, and he is determined to help her through it. Grace and Gabe have a wonderful second chance for love. Will Grace open up to Gabe and let him help her through her problems?

A.L. Vincent’s Running on Empty is the second in the Fleur de Lis book series. In this series, we continue to learn more of the “Boonies” and their individual and overlapping lives. In Running on Empty, the story begins with Grace Delchamp who is the singer of a popular band. Her life takes a spiral with a falling out with the guitarist, Brent Mouton, and leaving New Orleans and returning back to home in Bon Chance, Louisiana. Leaving music behind and substituting as a teacher at a local school, Grace learns or become reacquainted with what she really wants and deserves in her life.

Grace is a force to be reckoned with, but in the midst of the craziness that has overtaken her life – she has lost her spark. She flits in and out trying to find solid ground. Coming home and hanging back out with her friends gives her the opportunity to regroup, but is it really what she needs?

Gabriel Angelle, an old high school friend, becomes a solid fixture and he wants to do all he can to help Grace fix whatever it is that needs fixed. Gabe is in love with Grace and has been for as long as he can remember. Yet, he’s never acted on it. This time round, Gabe comes across as more secure in his self and what he wants out of life, what he needs. He seems to be one of those guys that will do anything and everything for those he cares about.

I enjoyed getting to see more of this fun and crazy group of friends as they continue to come back together. As they do, we do learn more in regards to each of them, as well as, meeting new characters as we progress.

I fell more in love with A.L. Vincent’s writing in this story. The author stays true with the characters alluding to possible story lines in upcoming book(s). If I wasn’t addicted to this series after the first book, this one cinched it!

Running On Empty is another spectacular read!! The second novel of the Fleur de Lis series is a story that will grip you from the very start, the drama almost never ending.

The novel tells the story of a woman called Grace Delchamp, returning home for some sense of piece after a traumatic event which left her to leave her band, in order to move on with her life. Whilst there, she bumps into old friend Gabriel Angelle, who has been madly in love with her for so many years. They both embark on a journey that will not only help Grace battle her fears, but change her life for good, as well as Gabriel’s.

Grace is such a strong character, especially with what happened to her with Brent. She is also an incredibly brave character. She is trying to change her life and to make sure that her future is miles better than her past. She is very determined to be happy and moves on from the trauma from her past, and she does so with Gabe by her side.

Gabe is Grace’s rock. He is there to protect her, love her and support her. He is incredibly supportive, which is what Grace needs. His love for has never diminished, and never will. Gabriel is a true character, a better man than Brent Mouton will ever be in the entirety of his life.

I love this novel! It is full of drama, pain and love. It has everything that a novel should. The author did an excellent job! It’s a five star read and a definite recommendation!

“Running on Empty” by A.L. Vincent is the second book in the Fleur de Lis series. The story is about Grace Delchamp, she is a singer for a popular band. She has some varied issues with her guitarist, Brent Mouton, that makes her question her life. What does she do when she feels her life spiraling out of control? She returns to her hometown of Bon Chance, Louisiana where life is simpler.
This is the second book to take place in Bon Chance by A.L. Vincent. We are given a hometown where people can always go back and be welcomed. When Grace returns, she runs into her longtime friend, Gabriel Angelle. She also decides to change her career path and use her college degree to become a substitute teacher in town. Little does Grace know that Gabriel has always had feelings for her. Will she embrace the new opportunities that are presented or run away from it all?
This is an enjoyable book much like the first. I enjoyed the idea of being able to go home again and create a new life for yourself. I think that many will be able to relate to the twists and turns that take place in our lives. The question becomes do you sink or swim? This is an uplifting story of blossoming and redeeming love in a long-time friendship. Also, the story brings up is it worth risking a friendship to find out if it can lead to love or just being happy as friends. I recommend this to anyone who needs a little bit of happiness after a tough road.

Running on Empty (Fleur de Lis Book 2) by A.L. Vincent is the second book in the Fleur de Lis series. This story is about second chances and what you do with them is up to you. This story has a little bit of everything in it from romance to friendships to tragdy. You will love how the author has made these characters connect with each other. I love how the author brought a few of the other characters from the first book into this story. Find out what choices these characters make, are second chances possible!

Grace Delchamp is a musician who is living the high life. She has her music and motorcycle, what more could she want. What will happen when she wakes up next to a fellow band member? She has no memory of how she got there or why she was there. What will happen when she loses everything in one night? The only thing she could think of doing was to go home to Bon Chance, Louisiana. What will happen when she takes a substitute teaching job? She finds herself bonding with the students but what she didn't expect was to see him. What will happen when her secrets get revealed?

Gabriel Angelle is her old high school friend. He has always loved her but has never let her know his true feelings. He didn't want to lose her friendship so he kept his feelings to himself. Now that he is years older, will he finally get a second chance at telling how he really feels? Has he found enough confidence to tell her or will he back out? What will he do when he finds out about her medical condition? Will he be able to help her? Will he run when he finds out what she has been hiding?

Grace and Gabriel's relationship is one of second chances. They were friends a long time ago, will they still be friends today? Will their friendship become more? Will he find a way to heal her at all costs? Love can be found in unusual places, has love found them here? Will he be able to fill her up so she doesn't feel as if she is running on empty anymore? Will they finally get their second chance at love?

This is my second story by A.L. Vincent and I can't wait to see where she goes with this series. A.L is a teacher/writer that lives in the middle of Cajun Country with her son and their fur-ball of a dog. When she isn't writing, you can find her cooking or enjoying live music. Once again, the author has created a real page turner that will have you turning page after page without even realizing it. You will love how the twists and turns of this story make the story complete. The author created characters that you will be able to relate to. I highly suggest this story as I know you will love finding out what happens on each page you turn.

5 star review!
Running on Empty is the second book in the Fleur De Lis series by A. L. Vincent and what a series it is shaping up to be. This is the second book that I have read by this author and there is just something about her writing that just pulls me in straight away. With both books I have found myself completely absorbed in the story and in the lives of these wonderful characters. Characters that you just want to be friends with and characters that all seem to have their own hidden pain that they are trying to deal with. This book could be read as a standalone as it focuses on a different couple than book 1 but I would definitely recommend reading them in order as both books are equally beautiful.
Running on Empty is Grace and Gabe’s story. They both feature a little bit in book 1 but we get to find out more about them in their own story. Grace is a singer in a popular band and she loves being in the spotlight. Music is her life – unfortunately for Grace her guitarist Brent cannot take no for an answer and she finds herself heading back to her hometown of Bon Chance after she wakes up one morning next to Brent with no memory of what happened the night before. Needing a job Grace finds herself dusting off her teaching degree and accepting a position as a substitute teacher. Coming back home Grace didn’t really bank on running into her old high school friend Gabriel (Gabe).
I don’t know why but I just totally fell in love with this couple! Gabe was just so amazing! Even though he doesn’t know what Grace went through he knew that he wanted to help her heal – he’s secretly loved her for long enough! He was pretty much the perfect gentleman!
Grace for me was such a strong character. I can’t imagine how she might feel after what happened with Brent and during some of the story I just wanted to be there with her and tell her everything would be ok! I loved that Noah was there for her (I thought he was pretty much perfect in the first book but in this one he surpassed that!!)
I really love the characters in this book and the friendship bond that they have! They have an unbreakable bond that is a joy to read about! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Running on Empty by A.L. Vincent is the second book in the Fleur de Lis book series. I feel that this book can be read as a stand-alone book. There is enough of a back story in the book to help you understand who is who. This book is a friend to love book and it is about the love story between Grace and Gabe. Grace and Gabe grew up together and have many memories of their time playing in their High School band together. After High School Grace decided to go off to New Orleans to attend college and at the same time she gets hooked up with a band there and has a standing gig at a bar and she is doing pretty well for herself. Gabe goes off to Austin after High School and he too has his own band and is also doing very well for himself. After one of Grace’s set something happens to her that makes her pack up and run home to her family and friends. Gabe has a few months off between gigs and he also decided to go home at the same time Grace did. Will Gabe get his way and get the girl he has been dreaming off sense high school? You will have to read the book to find out! This book did have a tiny bit of violence but nothing bad, and there was no sexual content, the author skipped over these scenes but you can tell something was going to happen. This book was very well written and was a very easy read. I would even recommend it to older teenagers that love romance books because I feel there was not any part of the book that would have been rated over PG 13. I also believe that this book could help some people heal. I highly recommend it, I could not put it down and cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Most definitely 5 stars for Running On Empty, Fleur de Lis Book 2, by A.L. Vincent. This is the second book by this author that I have read and also the second in the series. In this book we get to know Grace Delchamp and Gabriel Angelle.
Grace and Gabe have been friends since they were little, they were always close. After high school, Grace leaves Bon Chance and heads to pursue her dream, that is music. She is living living in New Orleans and loves performing with her band. The time she isn't loving life is when her fellow band mate, Brent, is trying to hook up with her. After her turning him down one too many times, Grace wakes up with him, the only thing is, she has absolutely no recollection of what happened. Her mind is completely blank. When she realizes that she can't stay in New Orleans any more, she runs back home to the safety of her brother and friends.
Gabe has always had feelings for Grace, everyone has seen it and knows except her. When he goes back to Bon Chance, he vows that he isn't leaving without Grace. He knows something happened to her, she has been having panic attacks, but she isn't telling anyone exactly what that was. When he finally finds out what had happened to her, he knows that he can't spook her and he just needs to show her, slowly and prove to her that he is the man for her. The last thing he needs or wants is to have her run from him.
Can Gabe prove to Grace that he is the man for her or will what she went through put an end to them before they even began?
This group of friends are truly amazing together! I can not wait to see what happens next and to who.
This is one book, and series that you do not want to miss. It has love and laughs, and what is a good book without some drama too… you will not be disappointed!!

I enjoyed the first book greatly and was not disappointed with this book in the series. Grace is a strong woman who is currently in a band and loves to perform but unfortunately this has caused certain unwanted attraction. He co-band member Brent is constantly asking her out and is not able to take no for an answer. Until one night she wakes up next to the guitarist and has no memory what has happen so she needs to escape to somewhere comfortable

Grace has enough and decides to come back to where she feels comfortable, Bon Chance. When she arrives back is welcomed back into the group she left behind and before long is reunited with someone from her past, Gabriel. Everything seems to be falling back into place, she’s home and has a job at the local school what more could she want.

Gabriel has loved Grace what seems like forever, he first spotted her in High school and has carried a touch ever since. Now she is back in Bon Chance maybe he has a chance with this incredible woman. He is so warm and lovely to her even though he has no idea what has brought her back to her home town but he will wait until she is ready.

I love these characters and as like the last book Bon Chance becomes a charming character in itself. The friendship these people have is remarkable and you almost feel you are one of them going through the ups and downs with them. I cannot wait to read the next instalment in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Running on Empty is the second book in the Fleur de Lis series by A L Vincent and is once again set in the Cajun town of Bon Chance. Grace is a singer and loves performing but a life changing encounter with Brent sends her back to her home town to heal. Here, she reconnects with her past in the form of Gabriel (Gabe). I think I enjoyed this book more than the first one and enjoyed meeting characters from Tangled Up in You again, especially Noah! A recommended read.

5 Stars *****

Running on Empty is book two in A.L Vincent’s Fleur De Lis series and this is a series that you don’t want to miss. This book (both books actually) deals with characters that have hidden pain but want desperately to find a way to let it go. This book can be read as a stand alone, however the first book is great too!
Grace is in a band and thinks that it is everything she wants. She is close enough to go home often and she is making a living doing exactly what she always wanted to do. But one-night changes everything and she returns home to lick her wounds. She soon starts to lose herself and shut people out but this group of Boonies refuse to give up that easy.
Gabe has loved Grace since high school but he never found the time to tell her. When his band is on break and he returns home for a visit he is thrilled to see Grace but this Grace is not the same one he is used to. He makes it his mission to help her before he has to return to work but he definitely has his work cut out for him.
Will Grace be able to find the light in the darkness again? Will Gabe finally be able to tell Grace how he feels?
I really love this series; this group of friends has a bond so tight that you can’t wait to read another book just to be a part of it. This author has done a great job of making you feel for these characters and their individual hurts. I highly recommend this series to anyone that loves a good romance that has been years in the making. If I were you I would go one click this book and the first one and start reading.

Running On Empty is the second book in the Fleur de Lis series (I am not sure how Catch and Release fits in here as it seems to be between the first and second book) and you could read it as a standalone but I really recommend you to at least read the ‘Tangled Up In You’ as it will give you so much more insight into the people involved and the dynamics and relationships.
I cannot give fewer star than 5, Ms Vincent continues to blow me away, I literally lived in the shadows along with Grace and Gabriel. I cried with Grace and felt the frustration and helplessness that Gabriel felt and I rooted for them and listened to the songs they sang and pictured the hot and humid Louisiana in my mind and heard the music in the French Quarter and went bar hopping on Bourbon street and laughed when Carly fell off the mechanical bull.
Ms Vincent touches upon the issues that so many of us women we fall victims of and I just love the way she helps Grace to find her way back to herself and then helps Grace and Gabriel to finally find the way to each other. Thank you for a fantastic Sunday that I spent with the boonies in Bon Chance smelling the air and the food and hearing the laughter and feeling the love. You make me to believe that love can be found in the most unusual places! I will be on a lookout for the next book and meanwhile I will finish Catch and Release!

Running on Empty (Fleur de Lis # 2) – A.L. Vincent – 4 stars

This is a standalone book in the Fleur De Lis series.

A tale of friendship, healing, music and love – this is Grace’s Story. We met Grace briefly in Tangled Up in You (book 1) as part of the lovingly large group of friends called The Boonies from Bon Chance Louisiana. Grace is a musician/singer in a cover band playing and living in New Orleans. She runs home to Bon Chance after an event that can have life lasting effects.

Gabriel has been in Grace’s life since they were in school. He currently lives in Texas and is in a successful band. He left Bon Chance as a long haired “kid” and comes home to visit as a groomed and buff man. Gabe has always had a crush on Grace and with his newfound confidence and them both being home at the same time, now is his chance.

Grace has a secret that she’s not going to easily give up. Through the love and support of her friends, she is able to heal and feel like she is no longer “Running on Empty”.

I am really enjoying this series about a group of friends who have different aspirations but respect their home town. They emotionally support each other, have each others' backs and are the type of friends that you can call @ 2AM to come help you bury the body. I have friends like that, I hope you do also.

This is book two in Fleur de Lis series by A.L. Vincent. I personally think having read the first one that it is a good idea to read the first one before this but it can also be read as a standalone if you wish. The book picks up around the same time the first did and continues to bring to life the amazing group of friends that call themselves The Boonies. It is set in the lovely deep south of Louisiana and bounces back and forth from New Orleans and Bon Chance. In this installment you read more about Grace Delchamp. She lives for her music and has been in New Orleans since high school to chase the dream of making a big name for herself. “Grace lived for the moment. The crowd didn’t matter. For her, this was it. She thrived on it, ate it up, and gave it everything she had.” Then, something horrible takes place between her bandmate and herself and all she can think of to do is run. The first place she can think of going is to her home and her family in Bon Chance. At home her friends are aware that she is not herself. No longer is she the happy woman that enjoys life. Even worse she can’t even sing anymore. Sadly, she feels as if she can’t tell anyone what has happened to her and she struggles with the pain and trauma alone for too long. Then there is Gabe, who has been performing in his own band in Texas and has been trying to not think about the love of his life he left behind after he left for Texas, Grace. “When the band went on break, he jumped on his Harley and came home. For Grace. A chance at a new begging to an old story.” Slowly with the help of her friends, namely Noah, Ryder, and eventually Gabe, Grace starts to realize that the only way through this trauma is through it, not running from it. In the process she also realizes she may have missed something wonderful that was right in front of her all along. “Could she be that close to him? What was she thinking? This was Gabe. Gabe who had been nothing but caring and gentle. Could she do this? She would be da**** if she’d let Brent ruin this for her like he’d ruined her singing career. She loved to ride. She wouldn’t let Brent win. Not this time.” So far I have completely adored this series and anxiously await to see who we will get to read about next.

AL Vincent has brought us yet another heart-felt contemporary romance with a bit of suspense with her latest book, Running on Empty.

Musician Grace Delchamp returns to her hometown of Bon Chance, LA after a traumatic, not-so-romantic experience with her drummer, Brent Mouton, causes her to flee the bright lights and big city. She runs into all her old high school friends, including the handsome and irresistible Gabrielle Angelle. But Grace can’t even think about a relationship after what happened with Brent. Instead she focuses on a new job her friends have talked her into taking – a high school teacher. While Grace is bonding with her new students, Gabrielle is waiting in the wings, still too shy after all these years to profess his true feelings for his friend. But when that traumatic event from her former rock star life threatens to rear its ugly head, it’s Gabrielle who is there for Grace, ready to do what is necessary to help her heal and move on with her life. But the crux of the story is the big question – will Grace be able to get over what Brent did to her? And will she be able to let go and let Gabrielle put the pieces together? You’ll have to read to find out.

Once again, AL Vincent brings her love and knowledge of the south into her novel. You can tell she knows her setting well and the way she describes the southern characters and everything around them, lets you know she not only loves Louisiana, but that she knows how to write one heck of a novel. I was drawn in by the vivid scenery, the hilarious quips, and the characters’ Cajun dialect. It made for a very unique and colorful backdrop for a beautiful and heart wrenching story about trauma, love, and forgiveness. A very well-written and easy to read novel. Kudos to Vincent. She’s done it again.
