Small town politics… Can be worse than a pit of vipers. Life in Seaview Rock hasn’t quite been the same for pet shop owner and amateur sleuth, Will Sullivan, since he found out that his best friend Sammy is involved in a scheme to blackmail the town council. Fate seems to be toying with him at work as well, when he finds himself stuck with a pet rattlesnake that he can’t get rid of—and snakes are not on his list of favorite animals. When a fire breaks out at a local historic site and a town council member is found dead inside, Will is compelled to investigate, hoping against hope that Sammy had nothing to do with it. Fearing the worst, Will has to walk a delicate line between friendship and his search for the truth. The entire future of the town could depend on what he finds, and he may have to destroy a friendship to save it. This wiggly, squiggly Cozy Mystery will keep you on the edge of your seat!
Life in Seaview Rock, Maine hasn't been the same for Pet Stop Shop owner, Will, since his rescue dog Rowdy starting finding dead bodies and leaving Will and his girlfriend Sarah to solve the murders! Sarah recently adopted Basket, a cute kitten with only three paws. Now Will has been gifted with Petunia, a deadly rattlesnake. The gift came from a town council member who thinks that Will is in on the blackmail scheme that Will's best friend, Sammy, is using to force the council to make public improvements. When a fire breaks out and another member of the council is found dead, Will has to solve the murder in order to reassure himself that Sammy's plot isn't the cause. The characters are funny and well drawn. Rowdy, Basket and now, Petunia add to the fun and drama. Did I mention that Will is deathly afraid of snakes, all snakes and that Petunia is a desert rattler? This is a fun series with laughs, drama and diabolically plotted murders! The animals just add to the adventures!
The story was well-written, but I'm still not overly fond of the whole blackmail thing. It just doesn't feel like something Sammy would do. But other than that, it was a really good book with a surprising ending.
Really a good series to read. Love me some Rowdy and Basket...Petunia not so much...lol! You think you know who done it til the very end and not why they done it for. Cannot wait to see what happens with the council.
Will continues to persevere in what he best friend involvement is in a blackmail scheme against members of the town council. This has put a drastic strain on their relationship and he doesn't know how to influence Sammy to put a stop to the plan, whatever it is. A sad consequence of his discovery of the illegal activity is that he is still in possession of the rattle snake gifted to him by one of the council members. When a council member is found dead in the aftermath of a fire Will worries that Sammy may be involved in some way. He feels the need to do a little digging with the hope of clearing his friend's name. The subplot in this book is continuing from the previous book in the series. It is intriguing, but not distracting. The action moves at a nice pace. The characters in this story are realistic. I like that there remains tension between Will and Karen despite the fact that Sarah has befriended his ex-wife.
I love this series. Refreshing to have a male lead, pets he adores, a pet store instead of a donut shop, and everyday issues and concerns. Very well worth the read!
This was my first book from this Author. What a wonderful book. Enjoyed the story and the characters. Loved the humor, it made the story more enjoyable. Hated to see the story end... a wonderful book!!!
This is such a cute series. I love the humor. Will's sense of humor has me laughing out loud often. I am anxious to see how things continue to unfold with the town council.
Wow is this getting interesting. Still don't know what's coming but I know what has passed and it was interesting to say the least. Poor Sammy. Is he right or wrong. I guess we will find out. Cannot wait.
Every time I think this series can t get any better out comes a new book to prove me wrong!
A male protagonist who owns a pet shop that he runs with his girlfriend's help, different right? An ex-wife who decides to move back to the small Maine town where they had lived when married and becomes his girlfriend's close friend, interesting right? A town council divided about what is best for the town, not unusual but has created an environment of dishonesty, blackmail, and murder. And Will is in the middle of it all trying to piece things together and find a murderer. Can't wait for the next book!
Fun series. It's nice to have a male main character. These books are fast reads with good plots. Once again Will is investigating a murder. Is there more than meets the eye with his best friend Sammy? And have I mentioned Petunia the desert rattlesnake?!!!! Grab a copy of this book it's thoroughly enjoyable.
When the second member of the city council is murdered Will is concerned that Sammy is involved due to the Blackmail he knows about. He sets upon figuring out what's going on. Love this little family... Well all except for Petunia, I'm with Will on that.
