My favorite poem in this collection is "The affliction in the Joy" it reads as an honest expression of the author's feelings and uses vivid imagery to describe the universal experience of heartbreak.
There are a very few other poems in this collection that reach into this same sort of deep honesty, but most of the poems here suffer greatly from an over use of an archaic thesaurus and a desire for the verses to sound poetic rather than focusing on expressing truth and evoking emotion.
(I received a free copy of this book through a giveaway on Goodreads)
I had a hard time following and understanding the concept of a lot of the poems in the book. It was hard to see his descriptions of the title of each of his poems as some had nothing to do with the title of them which confused me. There were however some that really spoke out for instance "[The Slumber] I would rather enjoy the illusions of sleep instead of waking up to face the dreadful reality, where I lost you." That one spoke deep for me.
