Medical student Sophie White is working two jobs to pay for her college tuition. But when she meets the handsome, dark and mysterious Mark, she is thrust into a world that she never knew existed.
Mark
A man of confidence, Mark exudes a quiet power and seductiveness, but who he is and how he acquired his wealth remains a mystery. When he meets the lovely Sophie White, he is smitten, and despite every fiber in his body telling him not to, he brings her into his dark world.
**This is the first book in the Mr. Dark series. Each book is a full-length novel with an HEA and no cheating! Each book focuses on a different couple.

WOW Simply put WOW.... This isn't your usual love story.... This series follows a young innocent woman and a man who's job will tarnish her. Mark and Sophie. He exudes a quiet strength and that is imposing, yet he is kind of unnerved by Sophie. She works in the ER while in Medical school dealing with a handsy doctor and tends bar with customers that behave better than the doctor. But the tavern ends up putting her in Mark's path. The characters are unlike most you will read in these billionaire romances. Mark wants to be a changed man, esp for Sophie. However she accepts him for everything he is, aside from the money. I was immediately captured by the 2 paragraph and fully vested to the story. I rooted for them and their plan. The author writes with great descriptions and gives each person real character. I could not put this down and lost sleep wanting to keep reading. I know after this I will be reading Ambition, because the side characters that develop towards the end are the focus in it. Thank you to Lauren Landish for a great series and for Mark.... my hero!
Wow! Lauren Landish is now one of my New Favorite Authors!
This series is Incredible! I absolutely loved the romance and relationship between the two main characters! Talk about some explosive and hot, sexy love scenes. It has been awhile since I have read a book that I found refreshing and exceptional. There was a beauty in more than one love scene that hit me as I read. There was also some outright, hot as heck down-and-dirty! I couldn't give it 5 stars due to some editing issues. I will be keeping this in my rereads list and watching out for future books from Ms. Landish!
Wow! Just finished reading the complete series. Every time I had to stop reading, I was anxious to get back to it. Loved the twists & am looking forward to starting Tabby's story. Thanks, Lauren!
Hmmm....where to start? I have enjoyed Lauren Landish books in the past. I found the teaser for this one intriguing, and a friend had the audiobook, so I gave it a listen. First, let me say, it might have been better as a read than on audio, because the audio version is TERRIBLE. It's read in dual perspective by a single narrator, a male, who does not read well OR do voices/inflections/emotions well. So that was a disappointment that may have colored my opinion. I wanted to be honest about that.
That said, I will try to keep my review to the story as written, and not the tragically bad audio. To begin with, this book is both poorly written and overworked. The "Alpha Billionaire" tag is misleading, as he was only a millionaire, but that is splitting hairs. The characters could have been quite enjoyable, but were rather two-dimensional. The story plodded along and then jumped ahead, several times. There would be some major event with the characters, and suddenly it was 2 weeks later, or a month later...with no real further comment on events that had occurred except for very cursory, casual mentions.
The hero, Mark, is a freelance hitman who becomes reformed when he meets and falls in "insta-love" with Sophie, a medical student. She insta-loves him right back. This trope can be done right, but there was no real depth to it, except for a great deal of graphic, but uninspired sex. The sex scenes....the entire book, in fact, could have been written by a first year writing student. The main secondary character, Tabitha, also had an insta-love situation.
The story was lacking in detail. The primary location where it takes place is only ever referred to as "the city" or "this city", but we have no idea where the city truly is, making it difficult to relate to.
There were many dangerous situations the characters were involved in. Only 3 actually had any sort of suspense or danger, and only in one of those was there any injury. Everything went as planned. Every. Single. Time.
Basically, I felt like this story was the gangland/mafia/organized crime version of cotton candy. A huge ball of fabulous looking fluff, but when broken down, only amounted to a couple of spoonfuls of sugar that had been spun into something much bigger, but ultimately full of air. All flash but no real substance.
The saddest thing is, the story itself...the plot, was actually quite good. And if it had been written better, and there had been actual locales that people could relate to, anything fact-based or tangible really, it could have been an excellent story. Its suspense lacked suspense. Its drama lacked drama. The danger was on par with being outdoors with mosquitoes around. No angst, no real crisis between the main characters, and the constant identity swapping while staying within "the city" turned it into a sadly predictable, overfluffed romance with a backdrop of intrigue that really never amounted to anything. Even my most fervent attempts to suspend disbelief failed.
The 2 stars were because I genuinely liked the characters and the plot itself. I just wish the story had been written well. Or at the very least, better than a teenage girl on wattpad.
I had finished the whole five books of Mark and Sophie. I had to say this couple were so freaking perfect, they were the death of me. This series was amazing as fk, and I couldn’t resist them at all.
If you ask me what was perfect romance story, I could told you, perfect mates made each other better, and made each other see themselves inside. Just like Sophie and Mark. Just like them.
They were such a great Soul mates. I could never forget their story, it must be on my favourite amazing as fk book lists.
"Forever," I said again into her ear, the emotional stimulation combining with the feelings tearing through our bodies. With a final thrust I felt Sophie start to come, and I gave in, giving one more thrust of my own before my own climax tore through me, and I gave myself to my wife, my soul mate.
FOREVER.♥️♥️♥️
‼️‼️All books’ reviews were in separate book’s review.‼️‼️
I stopped at 33 percent. This is a fiction book, but certain things were more than I can take. Sophia and Mark rescue her friend Tabby from the criminals ruling the city. What does Tabby do? She remains in the city to spy on the organization. Sophie and Mark get plastic surgery and get fake passports. The passports have their first names on them. They return to the city to destroy the criminal organization. The plot got ridiculous for me.
Not bad, but some things really stretched the imagination
This story wasn't bad. But it wasn't one that I couldn't put down. My biggest issue is in how one of the main characters was able to accept what the other main character did for a living. Love is one thing, but to have an attitude of just accepting his occupation after what happens stretches the imagination. All in all, it still was a good story.
This book was a lot different then what I normally read. I liked it, but I'm not sure if I would re-read it if I had the chance. I am a fan of Lauren Landish's writing. Sophie and Mark go through some really hard things. I love that Mark chose Sophie over his work. Great writing!
Awesome hot read. This collection had drama, intrigue, mystery, and one fabulous merging of good and bad. Yup this hot read kept me guessing what will happen next for these characters and their almost comic heros.
I love Lauren Landish, love her stories. This one wasn’t, in my opinion her best. While is was a good story I would suggest start with some of her more recent work. Filthy Riches or Riding Hard.
I love how a strong beautiful woman would break through all barriers of snowman and he would literally move heaven and earth to protect his love. This is the 1st book in a 2 book series. On to the next...
Mystery, Maffia, love, friendship and more. This book was a completely different book than just a Alpha Billionaire romance. Leaning more towards Robinhood. Very well written.
This was a good box set of a series. The characters and the story is detailed and well developed. There was not a lot of over lapping between the parts too, which was good. I would read more work by this author. Overview. May have spoilers. Sophia was a typical college student working toward her nurse practitioner. She worked in the ER as much as possible and worked at a local Irish pub. The one day off she has, her friend Tabby forces her to go to a club. At the club, tabby is dancing while Sophia decides to watch from above. That is when she see HIM and he is looking at her. Mark comes up to meet her. Mark is completely shocked at how much he likes her. They get a private room and spend the night talking and getting to know each other. They decide to leave the club since Mark got a business call. He drops her off at her apartment with only a kiss, but after his business meet up, he decides he has to go back. Mark wants her more. What both of them realise is that they have a unique connection. They continue to see each other until Sophia finds out what his real business job is. Sophia has to make a split decision and change her life, her friends life as well as Marks life.
This book was not what I expected. Sophie White meets Mark Snow while out with friends. It starts off innocently enough. Mark Snow seemed kind of shady to me. We find out quite quickly that he is a hired killer. Sophie gets caught up in this life very quickly. I had to suspend disbelief reading this book.
The story morphed into stuff comic books are made of and it was almost laughable. Also, the way the author wrote as if the characters were speaking to the reader was a little weird for me. I don't know if I was emotionally attached to these characters at all. I finished the book because I was too deep to just give up. I may read Ambition about the best friend Tabby but not anytime soon. I've read similar books like this one but it was just okay for me.
Sophie is tired of working, going to school, and volunteering. She puts in way too many hours with little results. Her Bff Tabby convinces her to go clubbing with the girls. Already bored and contemplating going home, she sees Mark across the room. Handsome and mysterious, Mark is more than she bargained for. Hopelessly impressed by him, she continues to see him. Mystery behavior puts Sophie on the defensive. If only she hadn't gotten involved with him, too late now. It appears Sophie will never be the same.
This storyline is a huge leap from any of Lauren Landish's books that I've read. It's an interesting tale of redeeming oneself and protecting the ones you care about along the way.
I expected this series to be about a dark alpha billionaire and his innocent med student. Not quite. At first, Mark and Sofie have a normal relationship with a few secrets on Mark's part, however, it when Sofie's life is in danger she realizes Mark is more than meets the eye. As the series continues things continue to become more and more involved for this couple. There's a war against crime with these two at the helm. A decent story and a worthwhile read. I gave it a four because of the grammatical errors. The next series involves Sofie's friend and her love connection but still follows Mark and Sofie's lives as well.
This is the first book of the Mr Dark series, and it was really good. The story was good, the relationship between Sophie and Mark was intriguing and the chemistry was hot.
I looked so much forward to reading the rest of the books, so I bought the whole serie. But I must say that I was so disappointed. The story takes a sudden turn and that was not what I expected and that just ruined it for me.
Sadly I have to say that I didn't finished the rest of the serie. The story was good, but not good enough for me to keep reading, and the sex scenes I started to skip, as I found the very boring and just very long.
If your like me who loves books when they come out in box sets dont let this box set slip through your fingers. There were times when i had finished one of the books that i wanted to read the next book straight away.
This box set is already in my favourites folder. I had never read anything from this author before i was given the chance to read and review this.
This author keeps you wanting more and more so much so that i read the whole box set in one sitting

Overall I enjoyed the book. I loved Mark for standing up to the people he once worked for and fighting crime. I liked Sophie because she embraced everything and stood right alongside her man. Mark and Sophie together just worked and the sex scenes were hot. I also enjoyed Tabby and her friendship with the couple.
