Have you ever thought that you found the love of your life? Planned your life together, began your life together? Then watched as it was torn away? When Ellis Connelly moves to New York City for the job of his dreams, he can’t believe his luck. As the well-paid nanny for a wealthy young surgeon, his days are filled with worthwhile work and his nights are spent socializing with the greatest group of friends. He may not be rich, but he knows how to have a good time. Dr. Jasper Flint doesn’t have time for a social life. Between his demanding career and being a single dad, his schedule is packed, and he’s still brokenhearted over a painful divorce. After meeting his beautiful new nanny, however, Jasper wonders if it might be time to get back out there. When the two men finally come together, life truly begins for both of them. It looks like a future of companionship, romance, and hot sex is in front of them. So when an unexpected blast from the past shows up, and their plans come to a screeching halt, both Ellis and Jasper must prove their love to themselves and each other... a task that ends up being harder than they ever thought possible. This book contains sexually explicit content and not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. This book is approximately 70,000 words, has a happy ending, and does not end in a cliffhanger.
Kinda pissed at this book. Even though I know this author writes only Omega/Alpha books, there is no mention of that on the blurb. So I got this book thinking he was finally taking a break from that. But no, instead the blurb is misleading and I am left wondering if it was intentional to drum up sales from unsuspecting readers.
Ellis Connelly is a Southern boy who moves to New York City for his dream job. He is a well-paid nanny for a young, successful surgeon. He enjoys all aspects of his job and after he takes care of beautiful Isabella, he finds time in the evenings to hang out with his group of friends that he feels so fortunate to have made so quickly after moving to such a large city.
Dr. Jasper Flint lives vicariously through his gorgeous nanny since he has no time for a social life due to his hectic work schedule and spending as much time as he can with his baby girl, Isabella. He also is still healing from his painful divorce.
After Ellis and Jasper spend so much time with each other, they finally come together. Each feel that this relationship can lead to something extremely special, more so than any of them have experienced. However, a love from the past may threaten their happily every after. They are truly put the test.
What I loved most about this book was the relationship between Jasper and Isabella. His love and devotion to his daughter was one of the most beautiful things I have ever read. In other stories I have read alphas/omegas usually had the dynamic where the omegas are the active participants in raising the child and the alpha was more the one who made sure they wanted for nothing. In this case, Jasper was hands on from the very moment Isabella was conceived. Jasper's capacity for empathy made him so much more special as an alpha.
Ellis and Jasper had such an easy repertoire with each other, it seemed as if they had known each other so much longer than the few months since Ellis started working for Jasper. Their connection was just so immediate and special. I loved their story from start to finish and I was sad when it came to an end.
The worse storyline delivery I've ever read. Told myself I was giving unpopular authors some chance, but this reminded me why I don't just read anyone's book. This was nothing but a nightmare
*Manny.....check *10 year age gap.....check *Mpreg.....check
The only thing missing that would have knock this out of the park for me is if it would have also had a GFY or virgin spin. Even so, this was a very quick and enjoyable read that sucked me in from the beginning.
The only hiccup for me, was how quickly Ellis and Jasper came to the thought of “I think I love him”. To me, there weren’t enough instances to back up their proclaimed feelings. No longing stares, or simple gestures; just all of a sudden...BOOM. Other than that, the flow was steady and to see Jasper's and Ellis's relationship develop over time was nicely done.
In addition, I really liked how the author integrated multiple POV's into the story. Even though it wasn’t consistent, he did a great job knowing when to incorporate each character (besides the MC’s) to enhance the story.
In the end, you are left happy knowing that everything eventually worked out for Ellis and Jasper.
This was a really heartwarming story with a couple of interesting twists. Just as you think everything is predictable and straight forward someone enters and upsets the apple cart. A must read.
I think this must be one of my favorite Aiden Bates books. The building of a relationship and family. Love, so much love, but struggles and hardships as well. Ellis is amazingly giving and has a kind heart. His love for Isabella and Jasper is unwavering. I like that he wasn't portrayed as weak. When Jasper lied to him, he lets it be known that he wont tolerate it. Jasper's commitment to his daughter and Ellis is just as steadfast. I liked that eventually everyone is pulled in and counted as 'family'. Adult read
This is actually a sweet cinderfella in an alpha omega non-shifter world story. I liked the nanny (manny) and boss relationship, with a very small conflict with Jasper's ex and Ellis father. The whole 'adjusting' with a new life and new family dominated the whole book. I really liked how Ellis taking care of Isabella, I think that part alone, made Jasper easily made decision to make his relationship with Ellis worked. I finished this book in one sitting, with a very satisfying ending. Well, in the world of alpha omega, Ellis and Jasper are one example of a couple goals :) Heading to another Aiden's books, I'm apparently in the mood of this genre.
This wasn't by any means horrible. It's pretty much exactly what you would expect from an Aiden Bates novel, so if that is your thing, you'll probably love this. My issue is that it WAS exactly what I would expect, because his books all tend to follow the same formula, but I often don't mind because usually at least one of the characters is interesting, but I was really feeling either MC in this one. And I think that the issue in that lies in the fact that Ellis spends more time interacting with Isabella, Bradley and Tara than he does Jasper in the first 1/4 of the book, and Jasper spends more time reflecting on his past with his ex-husband, Michael.... who I assume is going to show up and be all crazy later on, because otherwise this wouldn't be a typically Aiden Bates book. Maybe instead of telling Jasper's relationship with Michael through a memory, it would have been better having it told through a conversation with Ellis, so they did more than just have sex on page together. But, maybe that's just me.
I also did find it a little difficult at times to place the time in which a scene was happening... sometimes, in the middle of a scene, there would be a flashback scene... For instance, when Ellis is visiting his parents' place post-holidays, there is a flashback to a conversation he had with him during his visit during Thanksgiving, which is more than a few paragraphs and then in the next paragraph your back to present time again.
But, yeah, if you are an Aiden Bates fan, you'll probably like it, I probably just wasn't in the right mood to read a formulaic A/B/O mpreg novel.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Ellis is a graduated with a master in early childhood education who is working as a nanny taking care of little Isabella. Jasper is a plastic surgeon and Isabella’s father. This is the first time I read about omegas having babies and I like the idea a lot. I suppose some people would be scandalized about that but not me. I have always thought that gay couples could adopt children. There are so many of them out there and all they need is love and they don’t care if the people who give them love are men or women as long as they love them dearly. The story is full of love. It is well-written with well-developed characters and very enjoyable. Even though there lots of hes, it is well-defined who is who and never get lost. The story is full of surprises. I love how Isabella gets used to Ellis and she loves him from the beginning. The funniest piece is the policeman's (sorry I can’t say anything else, I don’t like spoilers) and the best part is when Francis, Jasper’s omega Dad, talks to him about becoming a parent. His words are so true and wise. I really love it.
A Super entertaining, enjoyable, loving, sexy story
One of my favorite M M authors whose stories invariably have all the elements of good romantic fiction. The author clearly writes of what he knows and character development is wonderful. Jasper is a plastic surgeon with a small daughter, two year old Isabella. His husband decided that he wasn't 'cut out' for fatherhood and they divorced leaving the busy Jasper a single parent. Ellis, despite his master's degree early childhood education, is unable to find a position as an elementary school teacher in New York. He really wanted to be in NYC and saw a position advertised as a full-time nanny for a toddler that seemed to be a strong possibilty, if he could earn enough to live in the city. When he interviewed vis Skype, he discovered that this was a single parent, father and he was very attractive. So attractive. Ellis wanted this job so bad and when discussing his salary requirement they were able to come to agreement. Jasper needed someone who was able to work with a single, gay, alpha father. Ellis, an omega, found that to be a perfect situation. The relationship develops and all is wonderful until someone from the past threatens their happiness. This author is a one-click guaranteed entertaining read.
I did not enjoy this book. I read up to the 50% (which wasn't easy) but couldn't finish. This book if from the Alpha/ Omega m/m preg genre; However, the book preview FAILED to mention this aspect of the book. Had I known I would never have even started this book as I am not interested in this genre at all. I feel like the readers are being mislead and duped. As a reader unfamiliar with this author, I would've appreciated a heads-up. The book review should be updated giving the readers the genre before hand. That said, I will share my thoughts on the 50% I did read. I didn't feel emotionally connected the MCs at all. The writing doesn't describe or allow for the longing, agony, yearning and deep desire the MCs feel for each other. There is absolutely NO build-up, sexual tension, descriptive deep yearning, even a touch. Only a brief thought, one daydream by both MCs, resulting in, "Do I love him?" or "I think I love him",then all of sudden, the MCs are having sex, then shortly confessing their love for one another.??? WHAT?!! I didn't feel their love connection at all. I'll leave it there. I wouldn't want to release any spoilers.
MM, Alpha/Omega, pregnancy. Omega Ellis Connelly moves to New York City for the job of his dreams. As the well-paid nanny for a wealthy young surgeon, his days are filled with worthwhile work and his nights are spent socializing with the greatest group of friends. Alpha Dr. Jasper Flint doesn’t have time for a social life between his demanding career and being a single dad. He is still brokenhearted over a painful divorce and his Omega ex not wanting to spend any time with their daughter. After meeting his beautiful new nanny, Jasper wonders if it might be time to get back out there. Life is not all sunshine and roses for Ellis and Jasper. They both must face a difficult situation and trust one another with the truth. How they do so will determine their relationship and their future. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
It was nice that the guy with money was getting shown a different way of life without it becoming a big deal. And the poor guy figured out the rich guy really did just want to give him the best, and they had to get to know each other. Now, the Michael twist and how he handled it? Poor form, dude. Poor form. Overall, a good story that was well-written and interesting and I might even enjoy reading again later down the road. Possibly. I did voluntarily read a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.
This is one love story you do not want to miss reading. Not only does it have two hot guys that fall in love with each other, but it also has an adorable little girl named Isabella. This story. Is very heartfelt and heartbreaking in places. Ellis was Isabella's nanny and Jasper was her single Alpha father. This story will have you enthralled from page one and also have you on the edge of your seat to see what happens next. The ending was perfect. I absolutely loved this book. Just remember love is love no matter what.
Okay, I'm a sobbing mess after this book. It had moments heartbreak and beauty, and the ending was wonderful. I loved Jasper and Ellis and how they came together. Like almost relationships, they had moments they had to work out. There were times I wasn't sure I would get the HEA that the author promised, but I loved the story. Aiden Bates has a way of writing that's just compelling. His characters and plot never fail to capture me and keep me enthralled until the last pages.
Ellis the nanny falls for his hot employer Dr. Joshua Flint. He is the first alpha to ever be divorced, his omega husband couldn't handle taking care of their newborn and ran off and divorced him. Josh gets Ell pregnant and Ells' parents hate him because they don't believe in divorce and think it was all Josh's fault. Will they get the wedding of their dreams or will their parents' ruin it, or worse will they never get married because the court says he is still married because of some lost filing?
This was a sweet enjoyable story, not so much about falling in love, but more about commitment and trust, and believing in that love even when things don’t go according to plan. Both Elliot and Jasper were really nice guys and they had a great support system of family and friends around them. Most of the story focused on their relationships with their family and dealing with Jasper’s ex who popped in to throw a wrench in their plans. I was happy that even though Elliot was kind, he was able to stand up for himself.
I started off enjoying the book but after a while got tired of the alpha omega references and to be honest I don't really know what it is so I just lost interest. DNF
I just love the development of this story is was well told and enjoyed every minute of it. I just love reading your books. They get better and better each book i read.
Ugh... I finally finished. It took me almost two weeks. I don't even remember when was the last time when I read one book for that long. I feel exhausted. But I need to explain why I gave only one star.
During the reading, I saw "alpha" and "omega" and didn't quite understand what that's mean, but I was like yeeah, okay, whatever and I continued reading. I read the first part of book pretty fast and then it happened. Man got pregnant. And I thought JESUS CHRIST, WHAT IS THIS. I honestly didn't know that there is a whole genre with books about pregnant men. I really didn't. And really... I'd rather be oblivious to that. I feel tricked, because nothing in synopsis gave away that this is book with male pregnant. I don't know this author, so I wasn't aware that he's writing books only like this. If I know about this earlier, I'd never start this book.
I wanted read sweet story about single father and his romance with cute nanny... And it wasn't that bad in the beginning. But then he got pregnant and it took away my whole joy from reading. And writing wasn't bad, it really wasn't. But... it just isn't for me. No to pregnant men. Never again.
Simple Pleasures was a sweet story about true love and what it really means. Ellis and Jasper are both great characters who are easy to love, they are both good, genuine people and I absolutely adored them. Ellis is a nanny to Jasper's daughter and despite a very professional beginning the two men can't hide the fact that they are attracted to each other for very long.
These two have great chemistry and their relationship feels very natural. Ellis was already a regular part of Jasper's life, taking care of Isabella so that part was easy. Ellis and Jasper are quick to fall in love and soon they are planning their wedding and expecting a new baby. But, life is never perfect and these two are about to find out how strong their love really is.
I really enjoyed this story, it had a great flow to it and I loved these characters. Ellis, Jasper and Isabella make such a wonderful family, they are all so loving to each other. I also enjoyed the twist in this story, and although I was expecting some drama at some point, I was surprised by this one! I think Aiden Bates has again created great characters and a touching story that really focuses on true love and how amazing it can be.
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I aboslutley loved this book! The characters were all well defined even though there was quite a few. Jasper is the perfect Alpha and Ellis is so darn loveable it isn't funny! Those two are so perfect together and the love just blossoms all over the book. This is a must read if you love M M romance and Kids!!! It was a pure pleasure reading this beautiful story.
*I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book* A love story with a HEA that becomes delayed and even might be ruined all because of the past. Ellis and Jasper have the love story that many would want, for Ellis he finds a job taking care of a beautiful girl and starts to fall in love with the handsome man that is her father. Jasper, a workaholic who was hurt in the past by his ex never has time to look for love but ends up finding it with the man who takes cares of his daughter just as well as he does. Jasper and Ellis take awhile before they let the chemistry between them ignite and then moves very quickly. They plan for a wedding and a baby until the past has come back to haunt them. A glitch in the law has paused their HEA and now Ellis must wait and witness that his hope for the future is coming down. And Jasper is fighting hard for a life with Ellis.
P.S. I will say I was bummed that we didn't find out what happened to Jasper's Ex in the epilogue. He was a big factor in the disturbance of their lives and even redeemed himself a little to be at their wedding. Would have liked to see if he found his own love and make a new family while learning to be a proper dad. *I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book*
Most stories the character fall in love then its all over and you want to know whats next, I love this story because it keeps going! They fall in love and when you think the story is wrapping up you realise your only half way through! This one is like three books in one! Amazing story, lovable characters and more!!!!
Another amazing book by Aiden Bates. Great story and plot. Terrific characters. The MC's were lovable and felt real. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites as well as my go-to for feel-good, sweet, romantic stories. I can't recommend his books enough.
Really great read, written well and keeps you interested. Isobella brings two men together, Jasper her caring daddy and Ellis the nanny. Love creeps up on these two men and then life gets hard for them. The characters are written so well it's easy to become invested in their lives and get lost in the story line with the characters. Really well written and the story line is compelling definitely worth a read and will leave the reader with a great feeling. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book and I'm so glad I did it's amazing!!
This was a wonderful story that is full of love, family and friends. Ellis, Jasper's nanny for his daughter brings love and light into his household. They connect and a relationship forms and things seem to be going right until Jasper's ex-husband comes back. There is a done of strife in this novel that makes you read quickly to see what is going to happen next. An excellent read and one I would recommend to anyone to read.
