Texas Roze

Rate this book
Roze had everything a 23-year-old girl should want; a great relationship with her zany mother, an amazing career where she got to meet some of the world’s top celebrities, a high-rise apartment in L.A., and a hot boyfriend. But Roze was bored with being the girl everyone was jealous of, and her opportunity to try her hand at being someone else came with the phone call from a lawyer telling her that her father had passed away; the father she had stopped visiting for some reason after she turned 12. He had left her his ranch in Texas to share ownership with her step brother who she hardly knew.
So, Roze did what any other woman would do in her predicament; pack up her life in the city and head to the ranch to find herself. Though, along the way, she may find a man….or two, as well as the father she didn’t get the time to know.

I have been writing since I was just 4 years old, starting with poetry and short stories. Writing has always been in my blood, and I began writing as a professional in marketing and ghostwriting almost 7 years ago. After writing thousands of things for others, I decided it was time to share my own things with the world. I hope to start doing this full time and be at least somewhat of a success.

Busy with her big city life, Roze never bothered staying connected with her rancher father after the divorce. Now he is gone and she discovers that love knows no boundaries as he leaves her half of the ranch that held his soul. Roze, unfulfilled in her life of concrete and glitz, takes a chance on starting over and possibly finally learning who her father really was. She did not expect to be welcomed with open arms by her father’s new family, but the vitriol held by her step-brother, the ranch co-owner is more than enough to shred her self-confidence, leaving her feeling a failure as a daughter and a person, just as she was beginning to find a purpose and joy in her life. Should she leave? Should she stay and enjoy the adult attentions of a man she knew as a child or will the venom from her step-brother poison even her private life?

There is more than meets the eye going on and Roze is about to discover what her heart has always been missing.

TEXAS ROZE by Iris Sweetwater is well-written, filled with emotional pitfalls and the tension one would expect from dealing with an outsider coming to town. Iris Sweetwater has the right idea, the right romantic twists, but this tale deserves more depth and detail to truly make it a five star read! I did like it! I would definitely recommend it for those looking for a light read to enjoy on the run, but for me, the “rest of the story” is just dying to be added!

I received this copy from Iris Sweetwater in exchange for my honest review.

Texas Roze is a short and sweet love story. Roze is a woman who gains confidence and empowerment in proving her capabilities, and that was rewarding to see. Sweetwater brought out the charm of farmlife in Texas and made me, the reader, feel the growing affection Roze did for this simpler but hard life.

There were only a few drawbacks: some of the characters' histronics, the romance drama, and the antagonist's motives seemed...cliched, and took away from what was otherwise a refreshingly real story about normal people. I wish that the drama had been a little more balanced and the main love interest a little more believable and loveable.

That said, it was a sweet story, and I suspect that a lot of Texas enthusiasts would be overcome with nostalgia for that "pickup truck, blue jeans, pretty good girl" lifestyle that is so charmingly described.

"Texas Roze" is a story about starting over, daring to accept a challenge by giving up a comfortable but unsatisfying life. Roze decides to move to Texas, to co-own a farm with her stepbrother, an inheritance she receives after her father's passing.

Her decision is not based only upon the decision to change her life, but also regrets that she did not spend enough time with him. She wants to know the places he came to love. At the farm, Roze will face challenges, but will also meet love and family. Her struggle will not be only adapting to a new lifestyle, but also winning over her stepbrother, who's waiting for her to fail.

This book is more than just a love story between Roze and Jake, her brother's best friend. It more about family, about what means acceptance and family support!

I loved every page of it, my only regret is that I wanted to find out more about why Roze was so eager to pack her things and move to Texas, about the boyfriend she so easily gave up.

Texas Roze is a romantic love story.
Roze wasn't allowed to spend much time with her father on his ranch in Texas since her parent's divorce. Her mother moved her to the busy lifestyle of L.A.
Her father remarried and adopted three boys.
After the death of Roze's father, she and her step brother, Todd,  inherit their father's ranch. Her new found family holds a grudge against her. She now has to help tend to the animals and crops. Will this be too much work for a city girl?
Jake seems to be the only person that will be her friend. Romance is in the air. Why does Todd kick Jake off his property?
Texas Roze is a short story about a city girl moving to the country to help fulfill her father's dream. Being born and raised in Texas, I can really relate to many things in this story.  I would recommend this book.
I'm volunteering an honest review for an advance reader's copy.

Texas Roze

Roze Lawrence worked in a salon in California where she grew up living with her mother. Her father owned a ranch in Texas but she had not seen him in years and phones were far apart. While at work she finds out he passed away and she inherits half of the ranch. Roze mother Carrie went with her and did not want her to stay in Texas and getting to know her step family was not going to be easy . Trying to figure out who she could trust even harder

Really loved this story! I got so caught up in it, that I basically read it in one sitting. City girl Roze is forced to get back to her country roots when her dad unexpectedly dies. Not one to walk away from a challenge and trying to get in touch with her father's memory by working in the ranch he left her and her stepbrother Todd, Roze moves back to Texas where, besides finding herself, she finds an undeniable love that will change her life forever.
