Insurrection #2
Incomplete
Power within her. War without. Between the lines of flirtation and justice, Saylor must clench the missing pieces of her fate. While harnessing her ability to communicate with deadly weapons of mass destruction, attending the annual gala, and fighting her growing feelings for the hunky Australian soldier, Saylor’s instincts become increasingly distressed. Tempted by greed and in-dependence, she must determine what she stands for and on whose side she belongs.

And sometimes pizza. I teach writing on the university level when I'm not dancing around the living room with my family, lifting heavy at the gym, traveling the planet (on foot or Google maps), or bingeing superhero shows.

“Incomplete” is a fantastic ride from the first chapter to the final word, leaving the reader wanting more and needing the final book now.
This is not just a story about a strong solider fighting an external enemy but also about a young woman waring internally as well. As Saylor fights tirelessly against an unrelenting enemy, she also must deal with the issues of the heart, the complications of family, and the struggle of identity. Although there are times when I just wanted to throttle Saylor, I loved the growth she went through. She is still someone I am routing for and cannot wait to see where her story goes. Also, who doesn’t love a warrior who can fight while wearing a pair of sparkly heals
You will not be disappointed by this action packed sequel, with its swoon worthy moments, twists, turns, battles and sass.

I think this is my favorite in the trilogy. Sparkly shoes, galas, kicking tail IN those sparkly shoes, clandestine kisses. I mean. Love this one.

What’s in a name? Does it define a person? Saylor is really questioning the merits of names. Her newly discovered father, the Commander, has taken disciplinary actions. He doesn’t want Saylor injured in any way, and Saylor, being the reckless, headstrong young woman that she is, always finds herself at odds, not only with her father, but also with her twin brother, Logan. Someone is always getting hurt, even though Saylor claims to be looking out for everyone else’s safety and well being. Part of the Commander’s disciplinary actions is insisting that Saylor use the name given to her at birth, Laurel. Only Saylor really doesn’t feel like a Laurel. As her growing friendship with Tuck intensifies into something more, he points out to her the importance of being herself.
“You were born one person, and another person emerged. You can either be one of the other, but not both. See how you can use the weaknesses of one to engage the other. Become someone entirely new. Decide who you want to be from here on out. That’s what a name is. Nobody can force it on you, and nobody can fulfill it except you.”
Sage advice that we could all use at times. As the drama intensifies in Kadee Carter’s second book of Saylor’s story, “Incomplete”, the message and the title intertwine gradually. Lots of action packed scenes drive the story forward as the twins, Saylor and Logan, keep up their mission to take down the technological devices that are not only threatening their immediately community, but the world as well. Good characterization and plot development. A compelling read.

This sequel was everything sequels should be! It got going quickly. There wasn't a lag time in the beginning, just straight into action. Like picking up where you left off with an old friend :-) A very active, fast paced friend. Speaking of which, the book was well paced. There were not parts that lagged or sagged. The action kept a nice tempo and kept me turning the pages until I reached the end, which is making me eager to lay hands on the third book. I just have to see what happens with these characters I have come to love and root for. Where does the story take them? Ms. Carder has developed her characters well and it makes a difference. They became real to me. If you enjoyed "Insurrection", hang on, "Incomplete" will knock your socks off!

I thought this was an enjoyable follow-up to the first book, Insurrection. Saylor is still a wonderful character, though it was interesting to see how she evolved in this installment and how she had to struggle with the life she knew as a soldier, all while dealing with family relationships she once knew nothing about (don't want to spoil too much for those who haven't read the first book) and personal relationships with her friends. That conflict plays out through the story and it's well done. Now I have to put the third book on my to-read list!

A dystopian YA novel with military emphasis, “Incomplete” is the second book in the “Insurrection” series.

Loved it. The characters continue to grow and the story gets even more fascinating in this continuation of Carder's Insurrection series. Now I must read the third - Indelible!
