I really like this book, especially Sections 1-4. It has great general information for those interested in learning almost anything about making art. I think it would be particularly useful if one were like me, learning about a new medium on their own without formal instruction.
I especially liked Section: 1 Drawing (Surfaces & Supports, Graphite, Charcoal, Conte Crayon, Colored Pencil, Pastel, Oil Pastel, Pen & Ink, Hand Lettering), which has the greatest number of pages devoted to it. Lots of good pointers and explanations.
There are a large number of step-by-step projects included which I found very appealing in both the Drawing and Painting sections.
My only criticism is that I would have included all of Section 4: Color Basics under Section 2: Fundamentals (Value & Light, Proportion & Size, Drawing Ellipses, Perspective, and Composition). I would have then made this the very first section of the book.
