Meet 6 strong women and the men who love them in this very special set. Enjoy the happiness, love and sorrows of the brides to be and of course there is mystery and mayhem sprinkled in!

Cinder's Bride
Winner of the 2015 Diamond Lear Award for Best Historical Romance and Rone Award Finalist
Shannon McMurphy travels to Asherville, Texas as a mail order bride expecting to marry a rancher. Instead, her intended is a saloonkeeper. Her refusal to marry enrages John Hardy and he slices her cheek with a knife so no other man would want her. She runs into the street and no one helps her until blond, blue-eyed Cinders rescues her.

Sexy, rancher Cinders saves Shannon and offers her a job. To protect her reputation he must marry her. They both agree it’s a marriage of convenience. He admires her spunk and willingness to learn everything about surviving the Texas frontier. He waits for her to ask to go home but she never does.

They learn a lot about each other through, stolen horses, Indian troubles, a cattle drive and the busybodies of the town. Their attraction for each other grows, but can they learn to trust enough to love?

Keegan’s Bride
Keegan Quinn watches the passengers disembark wondering where his mail order bride is. All he sees is a woman with a husband and child. Upon approaching the young woman, he discovers she is his bride, and she has a daughter she never mentioned. As they cross the street, the little girl screams for her daddy and points to the man who accompanied them on the stage.
Rancher Keegan Quinn is furious. The married woman swindled him into paying passage for her and her child. It was fool hardy to think a mail order bride would want him. He rides out of town as fast as he can, vowing never to look back. It’s a loco dream to think he can have a family while constantly looking over his shoulder.
Addy has no idea why Peg calls the new sheriff daddy. It cost her, Keegan, the man she hoped to make a life with. She has many secrets, but the sheriff is not one of them. She needs Keegan to keep her safe from her past in Boston. Once he learns the truth, he’ll send her back, but it’s a chance she’s willing to take.

Shane’s Bride
Rescued from Indians, Cecily McGuinness suffers from horrendous nightmare; ones that have her running from her lodging into the woods. She’ll never be normal again and most of the townspeople look at her with disdain. All she ever wanted was a family and a place to call home.
Sheriff Shane O'Connor is tired of tracking Cecily down each time she takes flight. Finally he makes her an offer to keep his house and help turn it into a farm. Her past doesn’t taint her in his eyes. In fact he finds himself very attracted to her but keeps his distance. She’d suffered enough at the hands of Long Nose.
Amid cheating gamblers, old friends who unexpectedly show up and a fire, a closeness develops between them. Cecily believes she isn’t fit to be a wife anymore. Can Shane convince her heart and soul that she is indeed worthy of a great love?

Tramps Bride
Handsome Cowboy Tramp Hart left his home and friends over a year ago. He's finally back to make amends and take his place on the ranch. That is until he walks into the house he designed and finds a woman living there. He needs a plan to get her out so he can move in.

Mail Order Bride Ilene Duffy traveled from New York City to Asherville, Texas only to find out her marriage contract was no longer valid. Rancher Cinders and his wife Shannon offer her an empty house on their land. Ilene has no intentions of getting married.

Poor Boy’s Christmas
Poor Boy finally comes home. He’s no longer the waif we grew to love; he is very much a man now.

All For the Chance to be a Married

I read 6 books in this series and I was blown away that women would take a chance on being a mail order bride. Each story was great and each talked of how cruel people can be but how others can be great friends and lovers. Great read. Big D

Tender love stories

These stories kept my attention. Plenty of excitement and I loved the feeling of family unity throughout each book. Wonderful!

All the books were good.

I liked all the books. The only thing I didn't like was that Edith was never put in her place for being the judgemental, hypocritical person she was. The book kept saying through some of the characters that she was a good person but I didn't see it. By the last book, I hated her character more that any of the civilians of each book. I was hoping after the bad matchmaking she was trying to force on Poor Boy the Cookie would finally she she wasn't worth his feeling of love. She though a woman taken by Indians and treated horribly was worthless and I know that was how it was in the time period. She also thought a young girl who was beaten provoked it. That is wrong no matter the time period. I wish her character had gotten the disdainful treatment she dished out returned in full. That would have made my enjoyment of the books complete. I really disliked her character. I truly hoped she would get the treatment she deserved. Other that my complete dislike of this one character, I really enjoyed this series. There were not sex acts, it was left to your imagination. So I would consider these clean romances. I recommend this series as a good read. SQ

To the author: please consider removing your digital 'author's note' after the second book in your compilation.

I quote:
"The character of Peg is based loosely on my granddaughter who was the same age at the time I wrote this book. It didn’t occur to me how advanced she is until people left bad reviews. Yes my granddaughter is very smart. She’s two and has been talking in sentences since before she was two. Truthfully it had been many years since I’d been around two year olds. Unrealistic? No, just real life."

So yes. This is a case of you getting a little dismayed by people's rudeness in downrating your texts for something that is noticeable in the dialogue, but neither is it unrealistic. I have a two year old, and he's why I take issue with your sentiment: "yes, my granddaughter is very smart. She's two and has been talking in sentences since before she was two."

My son is incredibly intelligent. He only says a handful of words. He's hugely non-verbal in his communication, and is more of a watcher than an openly interactive child. For me, this book was entertaining because of how vocal Peg, the character, was. Even having a two year old on the other end of that space from him, I really enjoyed her antics and did not find them in the least 'unrealistic'--because every child is different. I know plenty of two years olds who are chatty Kathy's and love to use their voices (in extremely comprehensive ways), Peg is not alone in that, and neither is your granddaughter.

So. My issue is in the fact you felt like you had to go BACK into your novella collection and lambast readers with the fact that 'hey, you're wrong, my granddaughter--who's real--speaks like that, she's so smart, so leave me alone.'

And yeah, I'll be honest. In that moment, you completely alienated me, a reader who enjoyed the story. Your whiplash decision made me question my own child, "wait, so because my son doesn't show these verbalization signs, he's unintelligent to her?" And that's a shame, because the writing was good, and the stories were entertaining...but I can't keep reading this because even two chapters into the next book, your unfortunate author's note keeps haunting me. Sure. I'm sensitive, I get that too. But why challenge the readers who were having a good time in the interest to snub those who were judgmental?

I believe that to be poor form. So for that reason, I will not be finishing this collection, and I can only give it two stars--since I only made it two books in before that note caused me great discomfort. I have enough people on all ends screaming at me that the child described in this book is what my child 'should' be--I don't need it from my guilty pleasure summer readings as well.

This overall was 4/5 however some books in the collections were much better than others. First thing, I loved how the characters in all the books were continue and introduced before their actual story.

All in all I didn't love it, but it was not something i regret reading.

Asherville, Texas a town made by true grit & guts

This is a surprisingly nice series about a small Western town in Texas that has its good and bad, honest and scheming people like any post Civil War wild west towns. It has to start somewhere and is made by its townsfolk including mail older brides and more. This is a very honest tale of its ups and downs, interesting characters in an ensemble type cast. Each can stand alone but it is all tied together over a few years. As we see from each story couple adding their bit to weave a good boxed book set. Come join in each adventure as you read along and see if there is a good place to really find your place and settle down one way or another. All of these stories are filled with suspense, adventure, love, friends and maybe love lasting all the way throughout.

Love through it all

I had previously read Cinders Bride and didn't realize there were additional books. I loved finding out how things came out for all of them. Each story is a magnificent ride to love.

Texas Brides

I enjoyed these "clean" stories. They were very well written; and they showed the true danger of accepting a proposal from a total stranger.
Of being desperate enough to take the risk that what one read in a letter was actuality true.
The only real problem I had with the stories was with the author changing a character's back story. I have long been a reader of SCIFI/FANTASY which is frequently written in many volume series. My Mother was also a fan of these books & when she found changes she always pointed them out as the author's errors. Whether the author actually did forget the original back story & did not bother to re-read the last book in which said character appeared or if for spme reaspn the author decided to rework the character's story is of course something I cannot say for certain
I can; however; say it drives up the wall.
For instance in the book in which Olivia is born the same week is Ryan who is born practically bald. In POOR BOYS CHRISTMAS GIFT she has the same blond hair as her father. In life many children who are born blond have their hair darken as they grow older, but I don't believe anyone ever had their hair go from red to blond without the aid of chemicals.
That was just a small unimportant change...the change from the original story of Poor Boy's traumatic past, which he shared with Cecily while they were both healing and the story he tells Molly in POOR BOY'S CHRISTMAS GIFT were enough to make me stop reading.
Initially you have a severely traumatized boy who couldn't sleep nights from the nightmares...a boy searched all corners of every room he entered for danger. He finally tells Cecily that he had had a horse (or more likely a pony since he ran away at the age of 7). He tells here about the apparently prosperous place he had lived when small. It had to be prosperous if the family could afford a horse/pony for a very small child. He went on to tell her that his step father was a heavy fisted man who beat his mother, him, and even the farm animals culminating in the step father shooting the boy's horse in the head
Which caused Poor Boy to fear that the step father would shoot him in the head the next time he got angry.
In the second story he tells her that he was born in a "whore house" and he ran away when he over heard his virtue being sold. Even though he told Molly that his nightmares were
so severe that he would run and run to get away so he could breathe. (Almost a direct quote of Cecily's story of her nightmares of trying to escape Long Nose) Yet there was nothing in the story he told Molly that would account for such severe nightmares...ad I said these types of changes; especially when they are not notated by the author really frustrate me &l ower my rating of the story

Sweet Mail Order Bride Set

This book set has is books in it. The first book is Cinder's Bride. Shannon was a mail order bride from New York City. She lived with her family until the last member died. She then gave becoming a mail.order bride some time thought. She was matched with a man named and she sold everything she had to purchase a stage coach ticket toTexas. Upon arriving, she learned that her husband to be ran a saloon and brothel and knew this was not a commitment she could keep. Upon learning that she would not be entertaining in his brothel, he sliced her face with a sharp knife and then told her no one else would want her.

Cinder was a rancher who was lonely after his wife died. He saw the exchange in front of the saloon/brothel and offered to take her to his ranch and give her a place to stay. The residence of the town insisted that he marry her before taking her to his ranch. This book tells how they got to know one another and learned to work together. Read to learn how their relationship developed as they learned to work together.

This box set contains four more short novels plus a bonus. Enjoy!

Unique Circumstances & Challenges

I enjoyed the series. Books are especially interesting to me when one story builds on another w/the same characters appearing and unfolding along the way. All the couple's had unique circumstances and challenges, but my favorite was Shane & Cecily. Cinders and Tramp were already successful ranchers; Poor Boy was set w/the restaurant, being a deputy, and the farm. Shane & Cecily seemed more ordinary citizens, every day hard working folk. I always appreciate a clean, uplifting story.

Wonderful

Oh My this was a wonderful historical collection. I love stories about mail order brides and the men they marry. Can you imagine travel across country to marry someone you never met, someone you got to know threw letters. There was no Face time, back then, and the chances the women took. Wow A nice escape during this Covid-19 pandemic. If you like historical romance this is a series you should not miss, like how the characters were carried from one book to the next. Kudos to the author.

Mail order Brides of Texas

Enjoyed these stories. Nice characters. Unfortunately in each story it was obvious that the couple would fall in love and be marrying. Did like that they all became like one happy family. Times have certainly changed. The fifth story did change venue, two people who.both came from abusive backgrounds, were able to finally find love and happiness Would give this set of stories 4 stars

Clean romance with happily ever after

I enjoyed this box set. I couldn't put them down. Clean romance and no cliffhanger. I loved how the characters showed up again and again in the next books. Life is hard and when we trust to easily women get hurt by bad men and situations. Life was hard and times were tough for women. It's sad that thing like these challenges still happen today. Stay safe and trust your instincts, don't be a victim.

For readers looking for a clean romance:
I didn't read all of it. It was a cute story but someone referred to this as a clean read and I would disagree. From what I understand it does not have any actual sex scenes in it but it does have a man's thoughts... And we know how that can be.
I feel like I don't really have the right to leave a rating since I didn't finish the book but it forced me to in order to leave a review.

Texas cowboys find their forever brides.

Enjoyed being with this author. Each story was sweet the men were very gentle with their ladies. The only draw back I guess for me me were the sex acts they were a little to graphic. They shouldn't have to be portrayed word for word in a Christian book. I was happy when part of the stories skipped over that part. All had a very happy ending.

Mail Order Brides

Enjoyed each story. The four of Texas were standalone but they contained most of the same characters so they built on each story. The last story was set in the winter of Montana and that was excellent as well. Hadn't read any of Kathleen Ball's book before but I definitely will look for more.

Fantastic reading

This is one of many historical western romances I have read recently, these five books plus the bonus book are very hard to put down. I would recommend them to any romance readers out there, they have been a pure joy. The stories are very believable, and Kathleen Ball doesn't need to be crude to get her point across

This is a sweet, clean series that I enjoyed very, very much. I liked that you were introduced to the characters in the next story, and they were part of the precious story and the town before the epilogue. However, be sure you have your tissues ready. I cried through the whole first story and during most of the others, too.

Mail Order Brides...

I had already read a couple of these books, then was able to get the whole series. I enjoyed following along with all the characters as they got their own stories. Characters came to life, I was drawn to read & didn't want to stop. I think it was less than a week & I had read all the books.

I read all the books. They were all good about very strong women and the difficulties they went through to survive. Even though this was fiction, it has some truth of how women are victimized and assumed to be something that they are not because of situations that they get involved with outside of their control. They all have very happy outcomes with is wonderful.

This compilation is the best one i have ever had the pleasure of reading! Usually there are lots of spelling mistakes in these books but you Kathleen did not have one mistake! I loved all the twists and turns and how you had each character from the previous book in the next one. I will be reading more of your books in the future!

I totally fell in love with all of the people in each story. A favorite would be hard pick. As a villian,I would pick Edith. She did have a heart but had a strange way of showing it. You were able to describe the lifestyle, belief and morale of that time. I can hardly to start your next book. Scale 1 to 10, I say 10 and beyond. Thank you.

Good, clean, romance

These 5 books made a good back-to-back read and the characters were real good. There are quite a few typos and grammatical errors in the bonus book. But the story was nice.

Good read

I very much enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and how they didn't judge the people they met, no matter what they had experienced in their lives. Well maybe Edith did, but she was good down deep. And I loved Cookie...Good read.
