La mia vittoria sei tu, il terzo romanzo della serie Checkmate Inc. di Shelly Alexander è un romanzo che vi sorprenderà. Premetto che non avevo letto nulla della serie e nemmeno dell’autrice, inoltre il genere non è tra i miei preferiti, ma sono felice di aver assecondato la mia curiosità. Difatti appena letta la sinossi, mi pregustavo uno scoppiettante hate to love con un protagonista maschile, ambizioso e determinato, pronto a creare scintille con la sua nemica in affari. Posso dire che l’impressione è stata confermata e superata grazie a un finale inaspettato dove vi ritroverete ad assegnare figurativamente dei punti in più ad Ethan.
Ethan è il classico uomo d’affari, proprietario indiscusso di numerose palestre, ambizioso, determinato e abituato a raggiungere tutti gli obiettivi che si prefissa superando qualsiasi ostacolo che gli si presenta. Verrete piacevolmente sorpresi nello scoprire che il personaggio femminile, Adeline, non viene presentata come una ragazza fragile ed indecisa in netta contrapposizione con Ethan, anzi al contrario i due si somigliano. Infatti anche Adeline è una giovane donna determinata, caparbia, diretta, che si mette in gioco con sacrificio e costanza per raggiungere i suoi obiettivi. E’ proprio grazie a questo carattere da combattente e una bellezza da capogiro che Ethan rimane immediatamente ammaliato da Adeline.

Fin dalle primissime pagine l’autrice ci delizia con una tensione ben costruita tra i due protagonisti che si incontrano e scontrano inizialmente per un caso fortuito e successivamente si ritrovano come antagonisti. Un calzante valzer di episodi che rimescola le carte e fa in modo che i due ragazzi si avvicinino sempre di più. Questa struttura, a parer mio, si rivela decisamente una scelta vincente che porta il lettore a chiedersi quale sarà la prossima mossa abilmente orchestrata dall’autrice.
Sia Ethan che Adeline hanno alle spalle un passato simile, segnato da rinunce e tradimenti da parte delle persone a loro più care. Le loro sofferenze hanno lasciato cicatrici indelebili e viene naturale solidarizzare con i due giovani, capire il perché determinati episodi passati hanno avuto un effetto domino sui loro caratteri ed atteggiamenti presenti.
“Io ho costruito dei muri per chiudere fuori il dolore e lo sconforto che avevo provato. Lei ha fatto il contrario. E’ stato a causa della sua delusione e sofferenza se ha lavorato verso l’obiettivo di aiutare gli altri invece di pensare a se stessa”
I nostri beniamini sono quindi per certi versi schiavi del loro passato e, per difendersi, hanno deciso di trincerarsi dietro a delle maschere che impediscono il coinvolgimento dei loro cuori, dove l’unico elemento ritenuto necessario nelle relazioni è la passione che scaturisce nelle diverse scene piccanti.
“…la connessione tra me e Rossa è più potente di tutte le altre messe insieme, quella parte del mio cuore però è morta. Non la lascerò tornare in vita, nemmeno per esplorare le possibilità con questa ragazza che trovo così dannatamente attraente”
Tuttavia non pensiate che il libro sia esclusivamente incentrato sulla parte passionale perché sarebbe un enorme errore, al contrario pagina dopo pagina la trama si svela con una storia che va ben oltre la parte carnale. Vi ritroverete a fare il tifo per Ethan e Adeline perché sarà impossibile non appassionarvi alla loro innegabile chimica e soprattutto vi sembrerà di avere davanti agli occhi i due pezzi perfetti del puzzle che si completano e supportano. A poco a poco ho avuto la percezione che le maschere dei due protagonisti si allentassero per giungere a un finale dove i sentimenti riprendono il ruolo principale. Ciononostante sappiate che il percorso amoroso tra i due protagonisti non sarà lineare, quando vi sembrerà che la coppia sia finalmente vicina, nuovi ostacoli si frappongono allontanandoli.
Credo che La mia vittoria sei tu sia il primo libro che leggo con un pov interamente al maschile e trovo questa scelta molto appropriata per il taglio dato alla trama. E’ stato bello osservare da vicino l’evoluzione dei sentimenti di Ethan che mutano da un approccio totalmente passionale a uno più sentimentale. Arrivando alla fine della storia, capirete il perché di questo titolo e sono sicura che lo amerete. Ho apprezzato inoltre la scelta di un personaggio femminile tosto con caratteristiche ben marcate e tanta determinazione.

Get Wilde was a quick and jocular read - packed with naughty fun and erotic sensual scenes. Written in the first person POV of Ethan, I was entertained and engaged with the active and eventful storyline. Ethan was a sexy, one and done man about town. His rules of no entanglements served to guard his heart after being badly burned by his ex. His rules had worked for him for many years - until they didn’t anymore. Ethan’s inner musings were quite salacious, highly amusing, and full of naughty innuendo, smart-ass observations, and the humorous and inventive use of conjuring visualizations of wrinkly guys in the sauna to tame his trouser monster. The writing was humorous, witty, observant, and deliciously lascivious. After reading this clever tale, I am feeling a sudden interest to take up yoga. Just proving, yet again, there are healthy benefits from reading smut.

Get Wilde is the third book in the Checkmate, Inc. series. Each book can be read as a standalone since they are each about a different couple. This is the second book I have read in the series and I met Ethan Wilde in Rookie Moves. He met the men of Checkmate, Inc. back in college and now they are great friends and the men work out in Ethan's gyms around Manhattan. Well...this is Ethan's story. And it's about to get twisted...
Ethan Wilde has one rule. One rule that hasn't broken in seven years. He will only give you one night of pleasure. He will make it the night of your life. He is a gentlemen after all. He always tells you the deal before the real deal happens. The only thing he will promise is that you won't be left unsatisfied. Over and over again. When he laid eyes on a sexy redhead in the bar, he knew she wasn't his type. She looked like a nice girl. The kind you bring home forever. He didn't want forever. And after the talk...he wanted that one night but it wouldn't happen. But he couldn't get something off his mind for the next few days. Was she a true redhead? He didn't think he would ever find out. Overall...I fucking loved every minute of it. It's fun, hot, and emotional. It's one of the sexiest books I read by Shelly. She gave us the goods with this one. The characters are lovable. Exciting, hilarious, and feisty. I even teared up. I didn't see that coming but it happened.

RECENSIONE DI MANU
Ho letto in anteprima con molto piacere la storia di Ethan e Adeline, ve li faccio conoscere meglio.
Ethan è il tipico uomo che ha ottenuto quasi tutto quello che vuole nella vita, da anni è proprietario di una catena di palestre e ha fatto un accordo con gli amici per espandere il suo mercato.
Bello, con un fisico niente male, visto il suo lavoro come allenatore, da oramai sette anni ha messo una croce sopra le parole “impegno” e “fidanzato”. Una delusione profonda l’ha lasciato con una carriera agonistica interrotta e una fidanzata che l’ha scaricato.
Meglio storie da una botta e via, niente legami oltre le lenzuola e, in genere, anche mai un secondo giro di giostra.
Ma poi incontra le curve mozzafiato di una rossa che lo scambia per il suo appuntamento al buio e la vita prende una piega non prevista.
Quando i suoi amici della Checkmate Inc gli propongono di fare da allenatore alla sostituta, scelta per una gara atletica di notevole prestanza fisica, Ethan scopre che il destino è beffardo. Davanti alla sua porta arriva proprio la bella ragazza che non riesce a levarsi dalla testa, Adeline.

This is book “2.5” of the Checkmate series. Although this book is about a character who had a small part in the first two books in Checkmate series and the boys from those books are mentioned (including some fun foreshadowing for Oz's book), you definitely DO NOT have to read those books before you read this one. If you're not familiar with the previous books, this series is told completely from the the male point of view, but don't let that scare you off because they're all good really guys. This book has has both on-screen sex and cursing, and it does not end on a cliffhanger.
Shelly Alexander can write a blue-collar hero in a way that just absolutely does it for me. While I adore the Checkmate boys and their more luxurious lives, there is just something about the blue-collar Ethan that got my blood pumping from the start. It might be that I can identify with a guy who owns a gym far more than I can with a millionaire, I don't know, but whatever it is, I found Ethan irresistible from the start. Even if he was kind of...uh, “difficult” at the very beginning. Thankfully, Adeline is the absolute perfect foil to Ethan's outer shell of swagger and cockiness. He wasn't perfect, he wasn't rich, he was just a seriously good guy who was trying to get his act together and I loved that. My only 'complaint' about Ethan was the fact that he was so stuck on things that “straight guys don't do” and his friends “acting gay”. An athlete should know that lots of male athletes do yoga to help keep them in shape. That sad, tired stereotyping got old really fast, yet he just kept thinking it. (If this changes on print date I will happily revise this review.)
Ethan and Adeline had incredible chemistry from the moment they met. I loved how she dealt with Ethan's moments of imperfection, how she not only didn't take any of his crap, but she gave it back perfectly. But I also I loved the scene where Ethan helped her covertly, and that he never intended for her to find out, that he just did it to be a good guy because at his core, that's what he was. Like her previous books in this series, this book actually had a plot and a story. It isn't the usual “all sex, no plot” or the “lots of sex = true love” drivel that most male-POV books tend to be these days. That said, the sex they had was incredibly hot because these two made sparks just being in the same room together. If you enjoy a well-written sex scene, you will not be disappointed.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a book that is written from the male perspective, or to anyone who likes sexy romance. If you have enjoyed the Checkmate series books then you will definitely enjoy Get Wilde. If you've never read this series, this is a great place to start to introduce you to Shelly Alexander's all-male-point-of-view series because it completely stands alone but also gives a little peek into the lives of Oz, one of the Checkmate boys.

In questo terzo volume della serie “Scacco Matto” abbiamo come un nuovo protagonista, legato solo collateralmente alla linea principale della serie: Ethan è il proprietario delle palestre collegate all’attività dei protagonisti dei primi due volumi, e in questo libro ha una storia tutta sua, che si può leggere indipendentemente.Alle sue palestre viene affidato l’incarico di svolgere una gara di resistenza fisica, una sorta di “Spartan Race”, tra due squadre, una capitanata da lui e l’altra da Adeline, una ex ginnasta professionista, ora maestra di yoga.
«Lei è la mia rivale. La persona che devo aiutare a prendere il posto di allenatore della squadra avversaria. L’ostacolo tra me e il milione di dollari.»
Ethan ha bisogno di vincere come Adeline, intravede in lei la stessa determinazione che ha caratterizzato la sua carriera sportiva e al tempo stesso quella solitudine in cui entrambi hanno trovato rifugio.
Fin da subito tra i due c’è una fortissima attrazione fisica che li vede protagonisti di una buona parte di pagine molto “hot”, penalizzando in parte la storia: la parte più interessante è proprio quella in cui Ethan si rende conto che non ha mai ammesso con se stesso di aver permesso che nessuna si avvicinasse a lui dopo il tradimento della sua ex. Il suo prendere coscienza del fatto di non essere così bravo a vincere le difficoltà come pensava e che così facendo ha perso Adeline è la parte più notevole della storia.
«..ma non voglio rispondere alla sua domanda. Non voglio che le linee che ho tracciato sulla sabbia vengano spazzate via. Non voglio iniziare a infrangere le regole che sono lì per proteggermi. Sono riuscito a tenere diverse sfaccettature della mia vita infilate in belle scatole ordinate. Ha funzionato benissimo per anni, perché cambiare perché non ci sono problemi?»
Come per i volumi precedenti il POV è unico e solo del protagonista maschile, per cui dei sentimenti e delle sfumature di Adeline riusciamo a capire poco, ad esclusione della parte legata alla competitività sportiva e al suo rinascere come maestra di yoga.Una storia che a mio personalissimo parere andava sviluppata meglio, perché gli elementi ci sono tutti (due protagonisti con lavori normali e con una vita alle spalle) e anche perchè caratterizzata dal POV unico, che risulta sempre non esaustivo per il lettore se non è sviluppato in modo complesso e approfondito.
Una lettura che consiglio comunque per chi cerca libri non necessariamente a tema natalizio in questo periodo dell’anno.

Andiamo avanti con la serie Checkmate Inc. e nel terzo capitolo Shelly Alexander fa una piccola deviazione. Lascia per il momento i sexy nerd proprietari della famosa ditta che dà il nome alla serie per occuparsi di chi ha reso i nerd così affascinanti.
Il proprietario delle palestre che li hanno resi così prestanti, non solo loro ma anche i clienti della Checkmate. Ethan è un outsider che non ci farà rimpiangere gli amati secchioni ed è alle prese con una dirompente intesa sessuale per la sua antagonista, una rivale molto in forma, Adeline sarà ‘la rossa’ dei suoi incubi.

«Potrò essere carina.»
«Ma io gioco sempre per vincere.»
Ethan Wilde è il palestrato tutto muscoli e poco cervello, almeno all’apparenza, per lui ci sono solo sesso e soldi. Sesso perché non si sognerebbe mai di concedere più di una notte a una donna e soldi perché sogna di ingrandirsi ed espandersi al di fuori di New York con le sue rinomate palestre. La sua è una facciata, non è proprio così leggero e incurante dell’altro sesso. Una brutta esperienza d’amore al college e un infortunio che ha minato la sua carriera nel baseball l’hanno indurito e reso immune all’amore.
Adeline McAllister è la sua rivale nel famoso contest sportivo Weekend Warrior ma è anche la sexy conquista di una sera in cui si erano incontrati per caso e sarà la ragazza che gli farà capire che una notte è troppo poco e di lei non ne avrà mai abbastanza.
‘La lussuria mi attraversa. «Fai attenzione a quello che chiedi, Rossa. Potresti ottenerlo, e non sono sicuro che tu sia pronta.»’
Questa serie è molto hot, il punto di vista prettamente maschile le dà una connotazione sexy, disinibita e spesso divertente. D'altronde gli uomini, che siano nerd o meno, hanno di solito in testa un solo pensiero che spesso espongono senza filtri, indovinate un po' a cosa mi riferisco? Ethan è così preso dai suoi preconcetti e dalle sue convinzioni che non si rende conto di avere davanti una ragazza che ha sofferto quanto o più di lui. Lei è aperta a questa nuova esperienza extra sessuale ma lui ci mette veramente tanto a capire che lei è veramente quella giusta.
La trama, come per gli altri romanzi della serie, è semplice e lineare, non degna di nota ma la scrittura rende il tutto molto eccitante. I personaggi all'occorrenza sono molto divertenti che tra le altre cose, vi mostreranno un cibo appetibile come il pretzel sotto altri punti di vista grazie alle loro fantasie hot.
Nel prossimo e ultimo capitolo della serie ci aspetta Oz, alle prese con una nuova assistente.
Il libro è breve, quindi se volete passare alcune ore piacevolmente, divertenti e poco impegnative ve lo consiglio.

This was another great read by Shelly Alexander. It was sexy, steamy, fun, sweet, flirty and extremely HOT!! Still recovering from a broken heart years earlier Ethan guards his heart while keeping women a good distance away from it, not letting anyone get close. Adeline isn't looking for anything in the Love department either especially after the last guy she let get close to her. Funnily enough isn't it always at times like this when love catches you by surprise and knocks you on your a$$!!
I loved the banter and chemistry from these two it was just what this kind of story needed, neither one was what the other thought they were especially under all the armour and behind their walls, Shelly Alexander knows just what to write to suck you in to her one of a kind stories, like this one you get lost in the competition, the reasons why Adeline needs to win so bad and the amazing dynamic these two have which makes the story flow just like her other books!!! 5 Amazing STARS

Once again, Shelly Alexander has knocked it out of the park!
Get Wilde is about Ethan Wilde who runs the successful chain of gyms, A Pound of Flesh. He wants to take his chain further afield, but to do that, he needs more cash. That's where the competition, Weekend Warriors, comes in. This fast-paced competition has some big sponsors, and a lot of money riding on it. If he can train his team to be the best, he'll be in for a cool million - just the cash injection he needs.
I'll be honest, at first, I thought he was a bit of an arrogant prick, but it didn't take long for him to win me over. There's something about a man who has been broken that pulls on my heartstrings. You'll find yourself falling more in love with him as the story goes on.
The female lead, Adeline, certainly gives him a run for his money. The feisty red-head gets under his skin and becomes quite the distraction.
I love Adeline. She is such a strong character, someone who has been through some pretty terrible things, and somehow, still come out the other side. She shows us that no matter what life throws at you, you can always find a way out by putting your energy into something positive.
This book shows the true competitive nature of athletes, and the pressures to succeed at all costs. We get to see how much training is involved in an event like this, and how much athletes push their bodies, even to the point of injury.
Once again, a fantastic read from this author. I simply adore this series and you will too!

Both Ethan and Adeline have been hurt and thrown of balance in the past. Both have walls up so high that they can’t really see what is in front of them but are working through some of their past obstacles (in more ways than one) and they give in to one night of passion BUT one night isn’t enough.
This book was fast, furious and smoking hot! These characters held their own, had an obscene amount of sexual chemistry and their banter was wicked!
A great book which you can read as a standalone, I don’t think it would ruin anything if you have read the others.

Absolutely great story! Ethan and Adeline had an instant spark when they met in the bar. Adeline is there to meet a blind date and mistakes Ethan for her date. She's surprised when she realizes he's not her blind date. She's even more surprised to find out he is the coach she will be competing against in a weekend warrior event. Both great characters and a great plot for the story. This is a book in a series but clearly standalone. It is the only book in the series I have read and no issues following along.

I loved reading about Ethan and Adeline! This book is all about showing how hard it really is to be an athelete. This book kept me well drawn in, however, it wasn't hard because I do love my sports! You do see in the book just how mean some people can be when competing and just what links some are willing to go to sabatoge others. I am soo looking forward to reading more of Alexanders books!! I have to say... I really like Ethan!!

This is another great story by Ms. Alexander.It was sexy and steamy.I loved Ethan's nickname for Adeline. It was a teriffic story. It showed how hard althletes have to train and the underhanded actions of some to sabatoge althletes better than them. It was great at the end when Ethan used his part of the prize money to surprise Adeline. It kept me reading to the end.

While this story is part of the series, A Checkmate Inc., it will read well as a stand-alone novel. I laughed out loud, sighed and groaned at various scenes. There is an interesting cast of characters, plenty of action, and double entendre, that kept the pages turning.
Ethan Wilde is a man who had to reinvent himself after he blew out his arm and his hopes for landing in the majors in baseball. He was doing well in college, and instead of stopping, he completed his degree and used his business education along with his love of sports and training and opened a fitness center that is now four centers. But the day his baseball career came to a halt, so did his relationship with his fiancée when she dumped him. So for the past seven years, he has been a one and done with a woman. He’ll make the night count, but then it is over.
“I’m a confirmed bachelor, and the successful owner of a small chain of gyms called A Pound of Flesh Fitness. Four locations in Manhattan and counting.”
Adeline McAllister was destined for Olympic God as a gymnast. She was considered America’s sweetheart, but one wrong landing shattered her ankle and her future. Now she has a yoga studio and trying to survive after her boyfriend wiped out her account and left the country.
“Flaming red hair. Fierce green eyes. Fiery tongue.”
The plot will have Ethan training a team for a Weekend Warrior Challenge that has been heavily advertised, with sponsors, reality television, and offering one million dollars to the winning coach. When the other team's coach is in an accident, the promoters approach Adeline to coach the other team. Getting Adeline geared up to coach will be a two-day marathon before introducing her to her team, but getting everyone on that team on board will not be a cakewalk.
The sexual chemistry between Ethan and Adeline can’t be denied, and when these two get together, they sizzle. Ethan will tell her about his one night only rule, and she will accept that. But is one night enough? What happens after one night when she isn’t out of his system?
“We only have one night, Ethan. I want every minute to count.”
The training between the teams will hit a snag when there are AC problems at the gym and Adeline suggest going to a park and using playground equipment. She proves that they can still get a great workout, but some team members cause problems. Can this be resolved or will they need to a new coach? The story is a journey of learning more about each other and how they deal with life and the obstacles thrown at you. Ethan and Adeline learn from each other while helping their teams succeed in the Weekend Warrior. In the end, there is much to be gained by both of them.

Tra i due sono subito scintille e pura adrenalina. Cosa succede? Tanto per cominciare ci sarà un piccolo "imprevisto" nel bagno dell'ufficio di Ethan, ma ce ne saranno molti altri credetemi! Scene molto piccanti che descrivono perfettamente la situazione! Devo dire che all'inizio mi aspettavo una ragazza un po' più contenuta, invece mi sono ritrovata davanti una ragazza con i capelli rosso fuoco e due occhioni verdi che sono tutt'altro che innocenti!
Come negli altri due libri, la storia è narrata dal punto di vista maschile e quindi siamo sempre nella testolina di Ethan. Mi è piaciuto un sacco vedere l'evoluzione dei suoi sentimenti. Dovete sapere che il nostro ragazzo ha una regola "Non passare più di una notte con la stessa ragazza" e vi dico subito che questa verrà infranta mooolte volte! Oltre ad una bellezza stratosferica, il ragazzo ha anche un gran cuore e si capisce perfettamente dai discorsi che fa! Passiamo dall'attrazione fisica all'amore in un batter d'occhio!

Shelly Alexander torna con il terzo volume della bellissima serie “Checkmate Inc.” Dopo aver letto e amato i protagonisti degli altri libri Leo e Dex, in questo nuovo racconto l’autrice ci racconta la storia di Ethan e Adeline.
Il nostro protagonista è proprietario di una catena di palestre a Manhattan; dopo una profonda delusione d’amore e la fine della sua carriera agonistica interrotta per un brutto infortunio, decide di dedicare tutto sé stesso al suo lavoro.
Non ha intenzione di concedere il suo cuore più a nessuno, tutto ciò che vuole dalle donne è solamente una notte di sesso senza tanti coinvolgimenti.
Ma quando una sera incontra una sexy rossa in un bar, le cose prenderanno una piega inaspettata. Ethan sa perfettamente che quella brava ragazza non è assolutamente il suo tipo, ma dopo quel rapido incontro, non riesce a togliersi dalla testa quella strana ragazza.
Anche se il libro viene raccontato solo dal punto di vista di Ethan, ho amato tantissimo la forza e la determinazione di Adeline; anche lei, dopo varie delusioni cerca in tutti modi di rialzarsi e grazie all’incontro con il bel proprietario della palestra, la sua vita cambierà drasticamente.
Ethan è convinto di non rivedere più la ragazza del bar, ma grazie ad una gara atletica a cui partecipa, le strade dei nostri protagonisti si incontrano nuovamente e saranno decisamente scintille!!
Non posso raccontarvi molto della storia per non spoilerare nulla. In questo terzo libro, l’autrice ci racconta di una bellissima storia d’amore tra Ethan e Adeline piena di passione, ironia e dolcezza.
Ho amato tantissimo i dialoghi sexy tra i nostri protagonisti carichi di doppi sensi: unici, divertenti e molto molto hot!!
Come anche negli altri libri della serie, i dialoghi tra i nostri due protagonisti rendono la lettura interessante e mai noiosa.

Ethan, owner of A Pound of Flesh gym wants to expand, but must first win the Weekend Warrior competition in order to achieve his goals. Ethan has one rule of one night only with the ladies and he is not about to break that rule.
Adeline, owner of yoga studio is struggling as her ex-boyfriend ran off with all her money, so she decides to help coach one of the teams for the Weekend Warrior competition.

I think everyone should Get Wilde at least once in their life. Ethan Wilde will certainly entertain you with his hot as sin body, and smooth, dirty talking.
This was a fun and flirty shorter read than Shelly Alexander’s other Romance series, but still just as enjoyable.
If you have read any of other books in this Checkmate, Inc series you will know that Ethan is a friend of our loveable geeksters. Come to think of it if you haven’t read now is the time to download. Foreplay and Rookie Moves are on sale, plus you can download for free with Kindle unlimited. It’s a series that each book can be read as a standalone, but really where’s the fun in that? The guys in this series each deserve your special attention. They each play to win and Ethan is no different, he may not work in Checkmate, Inc but he’s had the grand tour and took some valuable advice on board.
I do believe Ethan has met his match when he bumps into a young lady called, Adeline. She’s feisty and funny. I love her instantly. I was giggling at her comebacks for a very shell shocked Mr Wilde.
Adeline has a ex douche from her past, there’s one in every state I’m sure. Maybe more than one, but she’s not one to let it stop her. Down on her luck she has an opportunity to save her business that she just can’t give up. Things are never as easy as we first think, where would the fun in that be? Ethan and Adeline end up working together, it’s a scenario that Ethan nor Adeline ever expected to be in, but they are both fighting for their own businesses so let the games begin.
I can’t wait to read more from this series. If you love quick wit, loveable characters, sexy and erotic romance then this is the book for you.

In der Checkmate, Inc-Reihe der dritte Band, aber diesmal dreht es sich nicht um die Geschäftsführer von Checkmate Inc, sondern ein angeschlossenes Fitnessstudio, welches von Ethan Wilde geleitet wird.
Dieser lässt eigentlich nichts anbrennen, aber einer Beziehung geht er schnell aus dem Weg, bis er Adeline eher zufällig in einer Bar trifft und ihr Ratschläge für ihr Blind-Date gibt.
Dieses zufällige Begegnung wiederholt sich in seinem Fitnessstudio wo es sich herrausstellt, das Adeline die Trainerin eines anderen Teams ist, welches sich für eine Wettkampf vorbereitet und er ihr ein paar Tipps geben muss/soll, da sie erst spät zu den Wettkampf vorbereitungen dazukommt.
Da die Geschichte ausschließlich aus Ethans Sicht erzählt wird, darf es in den Gedanken bzw. in den gesagten Worten auch mal etwas derber sein und an Zweideutigkeiten wird nicht gespart. Aber auch Adeline kann ihm gut Konter geben, sodass witzige Wortgefechte das Ergebniss sind.
Auch wenn beide es nicht wahr haben wollen, besteht eine Anziehungskraft die sie nur schwer bis gar nicht widerstehen können.
So grundsätzlich hat mir die Geschichte gefallen, wenn sie dann mal erzählt wurde. Ab dem Zeitpunkt wo die beiden das erste Mal Sex hatten, war aber von der Handlung kaum noch was zu lesen, wenn die zwei sich gefühlt alle 2 Seiten an die Wäsche gegangen sind.
Dabei hat Ethan dann auch öfter mal den Macho raushängen lassen, obwohl Adeline ihm bewiesen hat, dass sie ihn nicht als Retter braucht.
Es war ganz witzig zu lesen, es ging heiß her, auch wenn es mit der Zeit dann doch etwas zu viel wurde.
Alles in allem aber dennoch ein angenehmer Leseausflug.

I Give Get Wilde by Shelly Alexander five stars. This is book three of the Checkmate Inc. Series. This can be read as a standalone but the first two books are such a great ready I would suggest reading those two first. This book was very well written and was a very quick read. This book was fun, flirty and dirty and was written in the males point of view. Like all of Shelly’s other books I had a very hard time putting it down. This book did not have any violence and there was some sexual content but the scenes are done tastefully. Ethan Wilde was on the road to the big leagues when an injury ended his career before it got started. Not only did that dream die but his fiancée dumped him before he could blink. Instead of giving up he worked his ass off to finish college and then opened up his own gym in the heart of Manhattan which thrived and continued to grow. A Pound of Flesh Fitness gym is now Ethan’s new dream and his goal is to take the gym nationwide that is until he meets a fiery redhead named Adeline. Adeline is Ethan’s competition, his enemy in business, and has a personality that matches her red hair. Adeline has gotten under Ethan’s skin and he wants to figure out a way to get her out of there but there is one detail he can’t stop thinking about and that is if she is a true redhead or not. This book will make you laugh out loud and at the same time it will make you fall in love with the characters. I Really loved this book and I highly recommend it!

Non so perché, ma ero davvero convinta che il protagonista di questo terzo capito della serie “Checkmate Inc” sarebbe stato Oz, il terzo socio dell’omonima azienda che offre agli uomini una nuova vita sociale. Invece, mi sono trovata davanti a dei personaggi del tutto sconosciuti. Probabilmente uno stacco serviva per dare nuovo slancio alla serie ma devo ammettere che questo cambio non mi ha entusiasmato più di tanto. Protagonista maschile e voce narrante di questo capitolo è Ethan Wilde, un ex atleta che anni prima ha visto crollare il suo futuro nello sport agonistico che ha saputo reinventarsi come istruttore creando dal nulla un’attività molto redditizia. Sue sono le palestre a cui la “Checkmate Inc” si affida per dare un nuovo aspetto ai suoi clienti. Ora, forte di quello che ha creato, Ethan è pronto a fare un salto di qualità espandendosi al di fuori dello Stato, per farlo però, dovrà vincere il montepremi messo in palio in un reality show in cui è l’allenatore di una delle squadre partecipanti. Solo che, eh sì, in ogni libri che si rispetti c’è sempre un “solo che” e quello di Ethan è Adeline McAllister, una piccola rossa tutta pepe pronta a dare battaglia pur di aggiudicarsi la vincita e riparare a tutti i debiti che le ha causato il suo ex.
Anche Adeline ha dovuto dire addio anni prima ad una vita dedicata allo sport, un incidente ha messo fine alla sua carriera e lei si è reinventata insegnante di yoga. Purtroppo, anche questa sua rinascita ha subito una battuta d’arresto e i soldi della vincita sarebbero per lei una manna dal cielo.
Insomma, sulla carta i due protagonisti potrebbero darsi battaglia per portare a casa la vittoria se non fosse che entrambi cadono, quasi immediatamente aggiungerei, vittime di una bruciante passione a cui nessuno dei due riesce a resistere. Con il risultato che il novantacinque per cento della lettura è una rivisitazione rivista e corretta del Kamasutra data la bravura di Adeline nello yoga e la voglia di imparare nuove posizioni da parte di Ethan.
Per carità, non è un libro con cui ci si annoia, né posso dire che non tenga al caldo nelle fredde giornate invernali, solo che avrei preferito qualche posizione yoga in meno e qualche discorso in più. Quindi, se amate gli erotici questo è proprio il libro adatto a voi e, nel mentre, avrete modo di rivedere qualcuno dei personaggi precedenti. Io, intanto, aspetto con ansia il prossimo con la speranza che il protagonista sia l’enigmatico Oz

I am a big fan of Shelly Alexander books so I always get so excited for her book releases. The minute I was able to get my hands hands on a copy of Get Wilde , I got into the story and It was just a fantastic read ! I loved it !
In this book we follow Ethan and Adeline and I love these two together we get to see them go from falling in Lust to Love over the course of this book and I loved every minute of it . Shelly Alexander books are always filled with swoon worthy romance, but this one in particular was smoking hot , I had to stop and stand in front of the fan during some of the steamier scenes .I felt that the romance in this book was perfect for these two , Ethan and Adeline are in my opinion perfect for each other. Besides the romance I love the whole competition aspect of this story it was so much fun getting to see that play out .
Get Wilde was sexy , fun , addicting ( I could not put this book down at all ) read and I cannot wait to see what Shelly Alexander has in store for the next book in the Checkmate series.If you love all these things in you books you should definitely get a copy as soon as you can.
In this book we follow Ethan and Adeline and I love these two together we get to see them go from falling in Lust to Love over the course of this book and I loved every minute of it . I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was a fast, fun, sweet, endearing read. I haven't read the other books in this series, but I didn't feel lost. However, I do want to go back and read them now! Ethan had his heart broken years ago and now he keeps women at arms length. Adeline, too, has had her heart broken, amongst other things that happened to her, due to the last guy she let in. She's not looking for love. She's looking to keep her head above water.
I loved the banter between them. I enjoyed their first meeting and she gave him a run for his money. Adeline is a strong woman and even though life hasn't been fair to her, she's still a sweet and caring person. Luckily for Ethan, he can give her what she needs ... hot sex! And whew! These two are smoking hot together. They aren't what the other expected, but they're just what they need. I was lost in their world, anxiously awaiting the outcome of the competition happening between them and cheering them on! I really enjoyed this read and highly recommend it!

Competition usually brings out either the best or the worst in people. In the case of Ethan Wilde, it's a bit of a combination. He knows what he wants, what his ultimate business goal is, but the question is will he get there without losing something of himself? In Get Wilde, Shelly Alexander gives us another terrific couple in this series. Ethan is certainly arrogant, but he's also a little broken and hiding behind the once bitten, twice shy mentality. Adeline comes along and gives him a healthy dose of competition while also working her way under his skin, blowing his one and done lifestyle to bits. If you're familiar with the Checkmate, Inc series, Ethan made an appearance in the second book, but is only loosely related to Checkmate, Inc. We see very little of those guys in this one, and I was a little disappointed by that. However, we still get plenty of wit and sarcasm, which I love, and a great couple that generates enough steam to fill Ethan's steam room. All in all, another fun read in the series and an interesting look at how much work goes into training for an athlete.

This is the first book I have read by this author. I have read that this is a standalone book but features characters from other books. I will say that I should have went back to read the books before this one. I wasn't lost at all but felt I needed the back story. This is Ethan and Adeline's story. One that is full of steamy sex scenes. I did feel that it lacked a storyline. I wanted more than just the sex. I wanted to feel the story. I just couldn't get into this book. I would have given it 3.5 but felt that it really deserved more than just 3.5. I know the authors need credit and acknowledgment for something not many of us can do and that's write a book. Will I read more from this author? Definitely. I would never base liking an authors' work on just one book.

What can I say, I didn’t read the first books in The Checkmate Series, I did however absolutely love this one and will for sure pick up and read the first two books in this series.
Ethan Wilde and Ms. Adeline have some chemistry, the banter was great I enjoyed each character a lot. If you had to go on a blind date, why not make it a Wilde Date!!
Ethan’s character is a fun, alpha male and Adeline is feisty, and has a quick wit to her. The plot was perfection and the writing flawless, I’m enjoying this author very much and will continue to read and you should too! I recommend The Checkmate Series!
