The third installment in the sexy, thrilling four-part L.A. Connections miniseries, a behind-the-curtains peek into the exclusive mansions of Hollywood where the city's most powerful players willingly risk it all for love, lust, and murder, from New York Times bestselling author Jackie Collins, now ebook standalone novellas at an unbeatable price!
There have been many imitators, but only Jackie Collins can tell you what really goes on in the fastest lane of all. From Beverly Hills bedrooms to a raunchy prowl along the streets of Hollywood; from glittering rock parties and concerts to stretch limos and the mansions of power brokers-Jackie Collins chronicles the real truth from the inside looking out.
Jackie Collins has been called a "raunchy moralist" by the late director Louis Malle and "Hollywood's own Marcel Proust" by Vanity Fair magazine. With over 500 million copies of her books sold in more than forty countries, and with some 30 New York Times bestsellers to her credit, Jackie Collins is one of the world's top-selling novelists. She is known for giving her readers an unrivalled insider's knowledge of Hollywood and the glamorous lives and loves of the rich, famous, and infamous. "I write about real people in disguise," she says. "If anything, my characters are toned down-the truth is much more bizarre."
I made a booboo in my last review. I referred to this series as the "LA Confessions" series. It's "LA Connections". My apologies. Otherwise it seems I'm flying through these which is great because I need to move on but I can't move on until I'm done so at least it's quick. Still not much happening to thrill me much. I don't believe anything anyone says. It could be that I'm in a mood and just find anything anyone says to be disingenuous, or maybe that's just how it is. I don't know. On to the last instalment though. So maybe I'll be surprised? I think I don't know who the killer is so far so yay for that. Unless it turns out to be who I think it is. In which case I'll be annoyed. I always guess. Every single time. It's not the writer's fault. Apparently I have really loud spoilery spirit guides.
Murder is the third installment in the L.A. Connections mini-series. Diving into this third installment without reading the previous ones was challenging, as there was confusion and speculation surrounding the characters' backstories.
The story begins with the brutal murder of Salli T. Turner, a stunning blonde actress, who is found dead at her estate alongside her houseman, Froo. The news sends shockwaves throughout Hollywood, leaving everyone stunned. Detective Tucci is on the case and has narrowed down the suspects to two men: Bobby, Salli's husband, and Eddie, her violent ex-husband. Meanwhile, journalist Madison is reeling from the news, having become friends with Salli and even interviewing her on the day of her murder.
In a separate storyline, Kristen's personal life is turned upside down when her lover, Jake, discovers her secret—she is a prostitute. Jake is disgusted and shocked, leaving Kristen after overhearing a message from her madam on her answering machine while they are in bed together.
The aftermath of Salli's murder creates a ripple effect, resulting in another mysterious event when a blonde woman washes ashore on the Pacific coast.
Overall, I didn’t enjoy the book. It was hard to follow the story and connect with the characters.
MURDER picks up where Obsession left off. Third instalment of the LA Connections mini 📖 books.
Blond 👱 bombshell actress Salli T Turner has been murdered, at her estate along with her houseman, Froo. The murder sends shock waves throughout Hollywood. Detective 🕵🏽♀️ Tucci has two suspects, in the murder, Bobby, husband of Salli or Eddie her violent ex husband.
Journalist Madison is so sad, she become friends with Salli and actually interviewed her on the day of her murder.
Kristen has fallen in love with Jake, but Kristen worst fears, are realised when Jake overhears her Madam leaving a message on her answering machine while they are bed together. Jake of course is disgusted and shocked by discovering that his lover is a hooker and leaves Kristen.
Another blond bombshell washes up in the Pacific shores, as a result of MURDER.
This book is honestly FANTASTIC reading, love 💓 it. That was the beauty of Jackie Collins.
Now lets read the last book of the series REVENGE, cannot wait to find out how the story will end.
I liked the suspense of this series, this edition did not disappoint. I have read most other Jackie Collins books, and this one seems to have less character development. I haven't really grown attached to any one player or rooting for anyone really. But I wanted a quick fun read inbetween some heavier picks, and this was right up my alley. I'm already on to reading the 4th installment and will probably finish it by the end of the day, just to sooth my curiosity on who Mr. X is.
These books just feel like I'm consuming nothing. Also her writing is so jarring sometimes I just have to giggle at it. For example, when explaining one of the characters backstories it was like, he was always trying to be the best at everything, probably because his dad beat him when he wasn't the best at everything. It's all just so wild. Onto the last book!
This really could have been one novel. Splitting into four parts/novellas is unnecessary. I enjoying it do far. Lot of characters but Julie makes it easy to keep track.
Maddy is still running around trying to find Salli's killer, although she has time to go on a date with Jake.
Max tells Kristin he wants to be exclusive, and since she's hurting over Jake's rejection, she agrees. But Max only wants exclusivity because he's trying to stay out of the clutches of Diana, who has decided out of nowhere that she needs to leave Freddie because she and Max are meant to be. She's a fruit loop, but I don't really blame her, considering Freddie has no heart. Not that Max is much better.
And Kristin is still being pursued by the sinister Mr X (cue Streets of Rage visions here) who has been connected to two murders of pretty blond call-girls...
