Kingston McNally lost men when someone betrayed his team, and now he's out for retribution. His quest for the enemy's courier leads him to Cameroon and Allie Redding, a petite Peace Corps volunteer as stubborn as she is brave. Their attraction is immediate, but Allie has secrets of her own…and she's not giving them up easily.
But their secrets could burn them both
Allie's life has been spent hiding in plain sight, but she's had enough of her cloak-and-dagger existence. On her way home, her plane is hijacked—and King saves her life. But that doesn't mean she owes him anything…even if he is the most damnably sexy man she's ever laid eyes on. He's got black ops and secrets written all over him, and trust is a two-way street.
Lea Griffith began sneaking to read her mother’s romance novels at a young age. She cut her teeth on the greats: McNaught, Woodiwiss, and Garwood. A firm believer that love makes the world go round, she still consumes every romance book she can put her hands on, but now she writes her own. Lea lives with her husband and three teenage daughters in rural Georgia. Two dogs, a cat, and a beta fish named Coddy George complete a family that is always in motion. When not working at the EDJ, she’s usually at her keyboard, using every spare second to write. Science fiction, paranormal and contemporary romance, oh my! Nothing is off-limits when it comes to her writing.
A traitor cost Kingston McNally his deep cover, Endgame-Ops team and turned his life into nightmares by night and a quest for revenge by day. Someone is going to pay and King is now on the trail of a petite beauty, Allie Redding. Both are onboard a plane taking Allie home when King must save her from hijackers also on her trail. A Peace Corps volunteer, Allie is a woman on a mission to give aid to others, but does she have secrets buried deep that makes her something else? King is determined to find out who the traitor is and Allie could be his key to open that Pandora’s Box. Neither of them expected the force of the passion that explodes between them. But first, they must stay alive…
Looking for heavy action, major denial of attraction? Lea Griffith’s FLASH OF FURY has that and more! Meet King, tough as nails, a one man machine against evil and a soldier haunted by a past he cannot change, determined to find peace in the act of revenge. Meet Allie, a woman whose life is full of secrets that could give even the most hardened soldier weak knees. Together each find what truly has been missing from their lives, but does it mean they were meant to be together?
Intense, riveting and non-stop tension of every kind as the passion rises with the danger and secrets unfold as these two learn to trust in one another in every way.

Flash of Fury 'Flash of Fury' by Lea Griffith is book One in the "Endgame Ops" series. This is the story of Kingston McNally and Allie Redding. This is my first book by Ms. Griffith but after reading this book I plan on looking for more of her books. This has an exciting story that starts off reliving what had happened to King and his team. Then we move toward King on an airplane looking to follow Allie but their plane is quickly hijacked with people looking for Allie. King thinks Allie can lead him to them man he feels is responsible for the tragic loss of his teammates. Allie travels as a Peace Corps volunteer to give other care when they don't have access to medical help. In addition, Allie has her own secrets and is slow to come forward with them at first....but King will get those secrets. If you love a action packed, exciting, along with a good military man than this book is for you. *A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection*
The moment I got my hands on ‘War Games’, I knew that Endgames Ops was a series I needed to sink my teeth into.
‘Flash of Fury’ harks back to what I’ll probably always think of as classic, romantic suspense: gritty and fast-paced, with over the top tangled webs of conspiracy-theories wrapped up in shadowy figures, a larger-than-life plot, and exotic locations matched only by near picture-perfect characters who are the right amount of screwed up and in need of revenge in some way. And I lapped it all up: pawns, baits, the game of chess in the shady world of political manoeuvring and all.
Lea Griffith’s writing does bring back the good ol’ days of Cindy Gerard and Suzanne Brockmann—just to name a few—and there really isn’t a moment to breathe from the start. The pace is deliciously unrelenting, along with a dialled-up amount of mutual lust and breathless gasps with every touch coupled with the amount of intrigue that’s present with characters hit their stride when the going gets tough. I did like King and Allie enough; there didn’t seem to be any particular TSTL moment or inexplicable scenes where one acted (too much) out of character or like a Marvel/DC superhero impervious to injury or emotional fallout. I thought it only faltered towards the end, where it felt a bit rushed, particularly when King and Allie hadn’t gotten their act together by the last few pages, and then suddenly did by the time the last page was turned.
But as the first book in a new series, ‘Flash of Fury' has a very foundational feel to it still; there were times I simply felt I was thrust straight into a complicated situation and was more confused than the characters trying to make sense of the bigger picture that still eludes us all. There’s already a setup for Jude’s story that I can’t wait to read, but above all, I think I’m itching to know just what the overarching narrative will be as the series rolls on.
Having been a fan of Griffith's No Mercy Series, there was no way I could resist this one after seeing it on NetGalley. In the beginning, I was dreading the instant connection, but Griffith creates a masterful slow burning relationship filled with chemistry and banter. I adored Allie and her feisty attitude. I liked Kingston and all the side characters involved with the ops team. Sadly, the ending felt rushed and somewhat unrealistic, but I found most of the storyline entertaining and fast paced. Overall, it is a solid start to a new series, and I look forward to future installments.
**Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca for my advanced copy.**
Flash of Fury is the first book in the Endgame Ops series. This first story features King McNally, leader of the Endgame Ops team and Allie Redding, daughter of the director of the CIA. The book opens with King's team being shot down in a helicopter during an op in Lebanon, then switches to Allie meeting King, as her life is being threatened by hijackers on her flight back to the US from Cameroon. King saves her life, but in the process, learns that there is more to the hijacking than mere terrorists taking over a plane. Allie is in the center of a plot that involves both King's team, Allie's father, and the CIA, all of which seem to lead back to Lebanon. King realizes that Allie is in the middle of all of his problems, but must put them aside in order to get her home safely. This story is full of action along with twists and turns to keep the reader guessing about almost every character that is introduced. The fast pace of the story as well as the political intrigue and the romance between King and Allie all combine to make this a very well written and interesting story. I'm anxious to read the second book in the series.
Fast paced action suspense that starts off with a bang or more accurately a crash and a hijacking. If you havent read the prequel to this series yet I recommend doing that first https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Endgame Ops are a group of men and women made up from all elite groups of the military – everything from Navy SEALs to M16 to the CIA. Kingston McNally heads the team. When this book starts out the team has been betrayed and blacklisted and King is out for revenge.
We are introduced to the whole team at the beginning along with knowing some of the bad guys and also some questionable secondary characters and dont know where their loyalty lies.
This author only writes tough as nails Alpha men and strong women who are a match for them not only romantically but also in cunningness and abilities. King and Allie both fit that mold.
As the story unfolds on trying to find out who really betrayed the team we find out its not all black and white. Lots of surprises thrown in and the set up for the next book looks to be explosive. Cant say to much on that as it would be major spoilers but I'm ready for the next book to see how it's all going to play out.
This is not for me. As far as action thriller; black ops, spray of bullets, weaponry terms, explosions, terrorists, people running which way etc etc, this book has them all since early pages. I just failed to connect to the story and characters - or insta-attractions whatevers they have.
Advanced copy of this book is kindly provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I have got to stop consuming so much news because it's ruining the pleasure I find between the pages of books. With so much intrigue and suspense in real life, who has time for the fictional variety? But I digress.
FLASH OF FURY is an action-packed, non-stop adrenaline ride of a book, filled with electrifying chemistry and intrigue to keep you on the edge of your seat, and I can confidently say that this series is off to a really great start.
Kingston McNally lost some members of his black ops team when they were betrayed by a traitor and has since focused his energy on finding out who betrayed them. His search leads him to Peace Corps volunteer Allie Redding in Cameroon but King isn't the only one after Allie. After rescuing her from certain death, King is determined to unearth her connection to his investigation but Allie isn't giving up any secrets.
As the daughter of the head of an intelligence agency, Allie knows she is a valuable pawn against her father but has managed to create a successful life for herself outside her father's sphere of influence. All of which comes to an end when she is the target in a plane hijacking attempt by local terrorists. But the attempt is part of a bigger conspiracy which leads all the way back to the US and has the potential to rock the nation's government in a huge way.
King needs to get Allie back on US soil as quickly as possible, but somehow she has become entangled in his investigation and he needs to keep her safe until he can hand her off to her father. He certainly does not expect the explosive passion between them.
Okay, this was an intense and captivating read and I think this is Ms. Griffith's best writing yet. Every page will keep you in suspense and trying to guess who can be trusted and who can't. The author successfully balances the dizzying attraction between Allie and King with the never-ending tension of their situation. The instant connection between Allie and King gave me pause but the author managed that perfectly by letting the attraction build between them for a while.
Allie is smart and brave, but even she was prone to making too-stupid-to-live decisions which luckily for her, King was able to save her from. King is a brooding hulk of a man, but Allie somehow brings a smile to his face even with the gravity of his task and the danger they face, and he will do anything to keep her alive even if he can't keep her for himself.
One thing I enjoyed about this book is that it starts out with us getting to know the two lead characters and get invested in them before we get the fire-hose of information on the rest of the team and the direction of at least the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed this book and can't rave enough about the amazing writing and the excellent plot. This is definitely one of the best books I have read so far this year.
Disclaimer: I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely mine.
HOLY CRAP, this woman can write. This is my first 5 star of the year and man was it a doozy. King and his band of operatives are looking for a little payback and a way to clear their name. Allie is looking to get home to DC have a mani/pedi and some McDonald's french fries. When their flight to the states is hijacked before even leaving the tarmac, the two become quite the skull cracking pair.
I loved this book, from the beginning to the epilogue. There was non stop action, and I was seriously guessing at what was going to happen next, and I was wrong at every turn. I love that I was able to find out what happened and why when the other characters did, and guessing, while fun, was futile. I am completely engrossed in this series, the characters and the darn bad guys. There were so many unanswered questions left, and I can't wait to see them uncovered.
Kingston McNally, ex-Navy SEAL, is the leader of a black ops team known as Endgame Ops. A year ago on a dangerous mission in Beirut, King’s group was betrayed by one of their own. Now it’s his mission to end Horace Dresden, the man responsible for the death of his teammates. However, someone has put Allie Redding in his path and her safety is quickly becoming his number one priority.
Allie Redding spent the past few years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Africa and is looking forward to a mani/pedi and McDonald’s french fries back at home. She’s instantly attracted to the hottie in the seat next to her, and she even indulges in a little “what if” daydreaming. But her fantasies are short lived when her plane is hijacked by the terrorist group, Boko Haram. Now she and her new found ally, King, are on the run while trying to figure out who they can trust.
Flash of Fury is the first exciting story in Ms. Griffith’s Endgame Ops series. The story opens with a bang and never EVER slows down. As the first book in the series, the author spends a great deal of time introducing the key players and laying the groundwork for the world. Generally this is handled well in Flash of Fury, but I did get lost a few times; partially because of the volume of information, and partially because this material is just the framework for something larger to which I am not yet privy. While I liked that the author didn’t dumb down conversations for the reader, it made it difficult to follow along as there is a lot of subterfuge and layers of conspiracy in play.
The overall plot line of the book is the rescue and return of Allie to her father in the U.S. It’s a good story, but there is entirely way too much running for my tastes. Seriously… every time King and Allie make it to a safe house, they are compromised. It got old after a while; I just wanted them to have a respite that lasted longer than a couple of hours (they actually do but injuries don’t count in my book!). The larger story involves weeding out the leaks that lead to the botched mission in Beirut and how it all ties in with Allie. There was significant movement on this front, but I have to say I was disappointed in how the book ended. Without spoilers, I will just say that Allie’s actions towards the end of the story seemed highly careless in light that King’s operations is a Black Ops — off the record — team.
As for Allie and King - I liked the pair. The author builds tremendous sexual tension between the pair, which is compounded by their constant upheaval (although as I mentioned, that did get tiresome after a while). And although I’m not a fan of insta-love, I can get behind the couple. I admire Allie’s honest and willingness to selflessly protect King and his team. She understands King and is willing to be there for him, but that doesn’t mean she’ll just sit back and let him tell her what to do. I also love that the jaded King finds solace in Allie’s positive, cheery demeanor.
In the end, I enjoyed Flash of Fury. I wanted to love it more, especially after the explosive beginning and the amazing sexual tension between the pair. However, there was just one or two too many chase scenes. I grew tired and weary of the constant betrayal of their location and the need to be uprooted and on the run. Additionally, the layers of subterfuge were too many, and I hated not being able to see the bigger picture. Something huge is going on, and I feel that we weren’t given enough clues to try and start to see that. Also, I felt that Allie’s actions once she gets stateside were reckless. I wish she’d found a different way to let King know her feelings. But Allie and King made a fantastic romantic pairing, and I am completely engaged in discovering more about Endgame Ops and its team.
My Rating: B- Liked It, but I had a few issues Review copy provided by Netgalley Originally posted at That's What I'm Talking About
Flash of Fury (Endgame Ops #1) by Lea Griffith 4 stars M/F Romance Triggers: Attempted kidnapping I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
There was a lot going on in this story. I almost felt that it would have been better to be slightly longer with more explanations, but realize that this is going to be a series and hope that more is resolved throughout the series.
I really liked Allie. She was down to earth, smart, didn't take crap from anyone and knew what she wanted. She knows that with a father who is high on the political ladder, she could always be a target, but in reality, she never really wanted to be part of his world. She would rather bring peace, love and education to those less fortunate. While she is traveling, doing just what she always wanted, which was to follow in her mother's footsteps, she is almost nabbed by some very bad people. In steps King.
King is a no nonsense guy - he has been burned and is still putting the flames out. He lost people in the field and wants to find the responsible people in order to exact revenge. What he doesn't count on is stumbling on Allie - what he thinks is going to be an extraction of a courier turns in to a rescue and return mission.
While I thought that the relationship between King and Allie was strange - more of a "thrown together in a time of necessity" rather than a real romantic relationship, so I had a difficult time coming to terms with their relationship.
Overall, I enjoyed the mystery behind the romance. I found that it kept me on my toes and guessing, but I also found that because little was revealed, I also was frustrated because the not knowing, but the hints weren't enough to make sense.
I am looking forward to see where this series goes because the ending was more than I expected and I had come to terms with Allie and King's relationship much more towards the end.
for action-packed suspense romance I was very bored.. also very insta love... that was a bit annoying book two sounds appealing, with side characters that had some roles in this book..
I found this because I was putting together a book list for Peace Corps week and, as an RPCV, was intrigued by a romance novel featuring a Peace Corps volunteer. But: the novel apparently starts at the end of her service and she barely ever talks about it, so if you're interested in this for the Peace Corps hook, honestly don't bother. There's way more in here about the CIA and "Endgame Ops" which is like the CIA but better, because the CIA is kind of the villain of this book? But also: Boko Haram, which seems like.......too real for a mass-market romance novel, if you ask me. Also: very quickly dismissed.
anyway, I get it, most people aren't picking up a romance novel to read about Peace Corps life, fine. BUT there was tons of boring skimmable CIA intrigue shit. and also the "romance" was...gross. Like I get the alpha male/protective/whatever thing as a romance trope but these characters were so cardboard and his actions seemed so unreasonable. And, I know I already said this, but: gross.
I have taken the liberty of Storifying my livetweet of this book if you would like some more detail on this matter.
Flash of Fury has got to be one of the best, first in a new series, black ops books, I’ve read in a very long time. Not since I picked up Maya Banks KGI series have I ever been so riveted by a military based romance. Lea Griffith has most definitely outdone herself with this one.
King and his men live under the gray cloak of black ops. They do not exist in any sort of official capacity, and it’s very important they stay that way. Having been betrayed by the very people who employed him, King has learned the hard way not to trust anyone associated with the government. Saving a woman from a hijacked plane may be his job, but the surge of protectiveness he instantly feels definitely is not. Especially since this particular woman may be the key to unlocking his own betrayal filled past.
Allie may not be a part of secret government group, but that doesn’t mean she can’t protect herself. Her daddy made sure of that. She never planned on living out the very situations her father drilled into her head for years. Yet, now she is, except she has the very sexy King at her side. He thinks she’s keeping things from him, and maybe she is, but the truth isn’t something she can, or will, part with. No matter how good his hands feel on her body.
Damn. This book was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! Seriously, from the first page until the last word, it sizzled and pulsed with electricity between the characters. It was well paced, King and Allie were amazingly lush and there was action in spades. It gave me every single thing I want in a romantic suspense.
The relationship between Allie and King grew throughout the book, just like I love, but the interactions between them is what I found the most delightful. King was very stoic and grumpy while Allie was the exact opposite. She was warm, and funny and even though she didn’t want to admit it, completely out of her element. Watching the push and pull between them as Allie grated on Kings nerves just as much as she turned him on, was damn good reading. I found myself chuckling at his resistance because, lets face it, it was futile. When his soft side emerged, even for fleeting moments, I sighed with contentment.
King’s brothers in arms are a vastly different group who all intrigue me in different ways. Especially those who were labeled as traitors who may or may not actually be working with the bad guys. Because in this world, nothing is ever what it seems and everyone has secrets. Secrets which could lead to being deep undercover in a world not of your choosing for years. That kind of dedication to the cause is unfathomable to me, yet I think that may be where this series is headed in the long run.
The complexity of the groundwork Griffith has laid in this book only promises to get better as the series progresses. There are sure to be even more twists and turns ahead and I can’t wait to read them all. I can wholeheartedly recommend this one and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
what an amazing story !! Found this book on NetGalley and got privileged to read this ARC! It was my first book from this author! It will definitely not be my last!
when I first saw that book I was kind of drawn-out by the cover, then I have of course been intrigued by the synopsis! I am big fan of Rom-Suspense and this one delivered !
I won't say too much details because I'm afraid to spoil something! However I can say that this story is packed with action, intrigue, secrets and so much more!! also an awesome Alpha Hero that will make you fall so fast you won't have seen it come
The action in this book starts from the first page and never ends. This is the 2nd book in the Endgame Ops series. I haven't read the first, but there is enough back story in the book to fill you in on what happened in the first book. King is a top operative for Endgame, a secret organization that handles jobs the US military can't be connected to. He is on a plane to pick up a woman who is a possible courier for the man responsible for a mission that went bad and resulted in the death of some of his men. Armed men come on the plane looking for the same woman, Allie. Now King has to get them both off the plane, alive. Now they are on the run for both their lives and things just don't add up.
I liked Allie. She was a strong woman, not about to be pushed around, but at the same time she was vulnerable. Mac is a top operator who has been on the run with his men since their blown operation and has a hard time trusting anyone. There is action, suspense, betrayal and romance in this book. The author leaves you with a teaser at the end of this book for another book in the series. I will definitely be looking for it. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
This is a good book. The Endgame Ops group are a group of former military and government operatives taking assignments that the government can't be tied to. Unfortunately, this set up has been done by other authors and done much better. But, I've also read authors that have done it a lot worse. Some elements of this plot do not resolve, so I guess you could say we have a cliffhanger, but that only pertains to who is the mysterious Piper and who is the baddie trying to take down the Endgame Ops team. I have a feeling that those questions won't be resolved until the end of the series.
Allie is excited to be heading home after almost two years in Cameroon with the Peace Corps. On the plane she encounters a major Hottie and it is insta-lust at first sight for both of them. Then things get interesting when terrorists take over the plane and Mr. Hottie saves her life. There are things that Allie just doesn't want to acknowledge and who her father is and how that impacts her life is #1. #2 is how Mr. Hottie, aka King, really lights her fire even though he doesn't want to tell her what is really going on.
King is a former SEAL and team leader for Endgame Ops and feels responsible for an op that went deadly a year ago. Now he has a lead and she is a major Babe. When terrorists take the plane they are on, he saves her life only to find out that the whole situation is not at all what he expected. In order to uncover the reason Allie is a target and for them both to survive they will need to trust each other and figure out who the mole in Endgame Ops is. 3 1/2-Stars
Flash of Fury is amazing and INTENSE! The story takes off running from the start and the action is non-stop.
“The world is black and white until you meet the gray—then everything changes and you have to blend in.”
King is the leader of a disgraced black ops team called Endgame Ops working to discover by whom and how his team was compromised and betrayed.
“Is ...she told him she had secrets. What had he expected? So what if her eyes pulled at his soul? She was messing with his mind. King was well aware that everybody had secrets.”
Allie Redding is a Peace Corp volunteer heading back home to the US when her plane in hijacked and she seems to be the target of the terrorists.
“Allie?” His voice sliced through her reverie. “Yeah?” “We’re close to Bilbao. You okay?” “Sure,” she replied laconically. She didn’t know if she’d ever be okay again.”
Flash of Fury is a story full of secrets, intrigue, terrorists, hi jacking, and more but also still a great romance with off the charts chemistry. -5 Stars!-
I was looking for a steamy mercenary romance and stumbled upon this book in Hoopla. Steamy, check! You immediately feel the sexual tension between King and Allie. Allie is a Peace Corps volunteer and happens to be the CIA director’s daughter. Until now her life has been somewhat sheltered and her identity a secret, but not anymore! Allie is being used as bait by an unknown source to find Kingston McNally. King is the leader of an elite black ops organization called Endgame. Endgame was betrayed by someone and many team members were killed in their last op. Now King is on his own mission to rid the world of the terrorists he thinks killed his men. Allie is a wrench in the plan, because she is an innocent victim in this game of chess. When Allie and King’s plane is hijacked in Cameroon, King saves Allie’s life and promises to get Allie back to the USA safe and sound. But this will not be an easy promise to keep, because they are followed by the terrorists and Allie is soon grazed by a bullet meant to kill her.
King doesn’t know who to trust or where to turn for help because someone keeps finding his location. Is it a trusted partner that has gone rouge or a new enemy? Can Allie and King make it back to the US from Africa without being killed? Will King succumb to Allie’s pleas for a romantic connection? Read Flash of Fury to find out.
I received this book free from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing an honest review. What is not to like about this book with a hero that is ex-Seal black ops Endgame and a beautiful Peace Corp worker that is thrown together after their plane is hijacked in Cameroon, Africa. Intense Suspense, action , adventure, double crossing stab you in the back, sizzling romance this has it all.
What a riveting tale. This book starts with a horrifying memory of what happened to the endgame ops group. This memory leads the reader on a trail of betrayal, reunions, heart ache, some sexy scenes, and a HEA. I would highly recommend this book, and this author. Lea Griffith created yet another wonderful tale that any reader would never want to put down until the last page.... heck I couldn't put it down until the last line of the book where the author talks about how she came to be a writer. Kingston McNally went through hell as a child, and through hell as an adult when he was betrayed by the team mates that he called his family. After watching three of his teammates be executed and losing another he will do anything to have payback on the man, and the traitors in his government, that led his team to an ambush. So when intel comes in that may lead to the capture of the arms dealer that killed his team, he will do anything to get back at him. Even if that means saving a women from an ambush and taking her in his care. But who is this women? Well according to the information King was given she is a courier for an international arms dealer. But if her eyes and how she kisses means anything then she is a women being set up in a match that will lead to the death. And she is a pawn in a game of criminals and traitors. Allie Redding is an international care provider. She goes all over the world in order to help those who do not have access to medical personnel. However, Allie has secrets of her own. And King threatens them all, but even more then the fear about the threat of her secrets is the fact that he makes her body hum in the first five seconds of meeting him. And within the first minute of meeting King, Allie dubs him Mr. LMAO which is an acronym for Mr. Lick Me All Over. And trust me when I say that if he was even half as hot, or half as capable as Allie thought of him then you will be begging for him to lick you all over. This was an extremely enticing, steamy, addictive read. And I can not wait to read more by this author and more about the endgame team. There is sexual content in this story however it is essential to the story line and it enhances the relationship between Allie and King. There is a lot of action and if you do not like to read action with your romance then this is not the story for you. However, if you are geared up for a story that will make your heart pound with both fear and exhilaration. And feel heart pains for the emotional commitment of King and Allie, as well as what they have both gone through in their life times then this is a book I would highly recommend as it will not disappoint you in any way what so ever. ~ A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection.
Flash of Fury is your typical romantic suspense novel instead of falling on the sword this story had a feisty female lead i seem to connect with even when you wanted to yell at her. The male lead was typical but he seemed a little more real than most of your typical military romantic suspense stories. This story starts off with a bang with thrilling action, bullets, lots of weapons, explosion, terrorist, running, hiding. The action scenes worked with the story that we were following. With romantic suspense there are always the convoluted story but at the same time the author is able to bring readers fun, feisty sexy characters. As always there are throw away characters which I personal dislike but it didn't stop me from reading the story.

WOW!!!! So good. Full review closer to release date. Totally riveting!!! I really love this freaking book. I simply could not put it down. This book captivated my attention and I read every word and felt every emotion. I love when an author exudes those feelings in their work and it leaks into me. Wonderful! We have Allie and King and what an awesome couple. Allison is full of humor and just a few pages in, I was rolling with laughter. Her and King have some great laugh out loud moments. I love Allie with all my heart. Her humor is infectious, her bravery commendable and the love she has for King everlasting. King is on the warpath as leader of Endgame Ops, after members of his team are killed in an op over a year ago. This leads him to Allison Redding, however everything is not as it seems. As with most government factions, CIA in this case, what you think is happening is covered in so much subterfuge, lies and double cross, you can't even trust your best friend. The non-stop action, live action scenes that fluttered through my mind like a movie, are riveting. I am entranced with the secondary characters which make up the family of Endgame Ops. I am soooooooo looking forward to the next book in the series, which we are given a small glimpse of at the end. Poor Jude. Ms. Griffith has become a must read author for me. Bravo Ms. Griffith on a job well done!!!
Traitors, quests for revenge/justice and romance all collide in this wonderfully crafted book! The characters are intense, full of life and really spark your imagination.
Kingston (King) McNally life has been upturned by a traitor, who has subverted his special ops team. But when dealing with a hijacked plane, he finds Allie Redding, a Peace Corps volunteer, but she may just have some very deep, dark secrets!!!
King is rough, tough and a lethal operator. Allie may be a peace loving female but she can fight for what she feels is right. The chemistry between them is palpable and I loved that she was able to make King question what his life is like.
I received an ARC edition from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
Flash of Fury by Lea Griffith is the 1st book in her new Endgame Ops series. This is the first book I have read by Griffith and after reading Flash of Fury, it will not be my last. We meet our hero King McNally early on when he and his Endgame Ops team was ambushed on a mission that was an obvious leak. Three members of his team were lost. This leaves him determined to find out who was the betrayer, and to find and kill the terrorists, who were part of the original assignment. King trusts no one, especially the CIA, whom he feels is part of the betrayal. When he receives word that a courier for the terrorist will be on a plane, he makes sure he is on it.
Allie Redding, our heroine, is a Peace Corps volunteer, and also the daughter of the CIA Director. Allie, who tries to stay out of the limelight that her father is in, aboards the plane to take her home. The plane is hijacked by those who want to kidnap Allie, but King manages to save her life and both are now running for their lives. Even though he saves her, King does not trust Allie, thinking she is a courier for the terrorists.
What follows is an ultra exciting, tense, action filled story that will have both Allie and King constantly being in danger by the various attacks. King realizes that Allie has been innocently set up to be used against her father. His goal besides killing the evil villain, is to get Allie home safely. Along the way, they both will learn to trust each other, and at the same time fall in love. Each of them have their own issues; King with a father who abused him; and Allie losing her mother at an early age, and trying to stay clear of her father’s CIA responsibilities. Though in time, Allie knows she wants to stay with King after this is over; but he stubbornly tells her there is no future, as it is too dangerous for her to be with him.
I loved Allie and King together; they made a great couple, and their sexual chemistry was off the wall scorching hot. King’s Endgame ops team were great, and I cannot wait to see their story in future books. The edge of your seat action was very tense, keeping us emotionally invested as we worried if our heroes would survive. Once you start this book, you will not be able to put it down.
Flash of Fury was a sensational start to this new series. This story was fast paced, action filled, suspenseful, and filled with intrigue, betrayal, and romance with a fabulous sexy couple. There are so many plots and twists along the way, and the ending was not only exciting, but also exhilarating. There is so much more to come in the Endgame Ops series that I cannot wait to see what Lea Griffith has in store for us. This is a must read for those of you who love romance suspense.

Allie is a Peace Corps volunteer and happens to be the CIA director’s daughter. Until now her life has been somewhat sheltered and her identity a secret, but not anymore! Endgame was betrayed by someone and many team members were killed in their last op. Now King is on his own mission to rid the world of the terrorists he thinks killed his men. Betrayal, secrets and a cat and mouse game brought high-octane fuel to this anything but quiet romance. From page one, I knew this was going to be a fast-paced, no holds barred kind of read as King and Allie came together in a life or death situation. Under a hail of gunfire, they both followed their gut instincts, and found themselves on the run. They started off together and there they stayed…
Make sure your seat belt is on because this is one wild, wild ride! Harrowing doesn’t begin to cover the situations King and Allie, the entire Endgame Ops team, found themselves in. Events from years ago had the team operating under the radar, still unsure how things fell apart so spectacularly. Each character offers pieces of the puzzle that make up their complicated past. Friends, comrades, betrayers. King and his team were used to this world but that didn’t mean the punches cut any less…
Allie had deliberately stayed away from the intrigue and politics but she was now in knee deep, fighting for her life. Fighting for all of their lives even as love bloomed in the unlikeliest of places and times…
This nail-biter found closure for King and Allie but there are many more stories to tell. And more enemies to discover… This was an explosive first read of this author for me and I couldn’t be more excited for more!
*I happily reviewed this book *Thank you to NetGalley
I like the Endgame Ops "family" (though at this point, it is somewhat difficult to figure out which of them are on the wrong side). We really only learn of Kinston McNally's life in this book, but if most of them are like him, then it is good that they've found "family" they can rely on.
This book seems to center on the idea that a woman wants someone who will make her feel safe. For all his tough guy attitude, King also has a softer side that he shows Allie: talking to her about his childhood, comforting her when she's hurting, etc.
There's lots of action. Maybe too much. How many times can the same person get blown up and yet escape and survive?
However the streak of possessiveness in King's feelings toward Allie concerns me. Possessiveness can mask more sinister issues. Also, we, as readers, know from the time the two first meet that they're eventually going to be intimate, despite all their dancing around it for their various reasons.
So a plus for the characters and action but a minus for the intimacy and convoluted good guy/bad guy scenario that keeps you wondering who on the team isn't a team player.
