It’s a simple enough transaction. Marisol needs the money, and I need a nice girl to parade in front of the cameras. No feelings. No strings. No falling for anyone.
I’ve been clean for months, but my record company’s not satisfied. Apparently it isn’t enough to only kick a heroin addiction - they’re insisting that I find a girlfriend as well.
If I don’t, they pull Dirtshine’s massive record deal.
It’s supposed to show that I’ve changed my ways, that I’ve turned over a new leaf, all that rubbish. But I’ve had it with suit-wearing wankers telling me what I’m to do, so I’m on the verge of telling them to go f*ck themselves.
And then she shows up.
Marisol locks me out of my own concert by accident. She’s wearing a suit at a rock show, searching for her lost law school textbook, has no idea who I am…
...and for the first time in years, I’m hooked.
She’s smart, driven, and utterly gorgeous. The sort of girl who earnestly believes in following the rules and hates when others don’t.
I’m a huge rock star, recovering addict, and general f*ckup.
Our relationship is for show, and that’s all. But with every smile, every laugh, and every breathtaking glance at her curves, I want her more.
Two months is all we agreed to. But it’s never going to be enough.
Never Enough is a full-length, 90,000-word standalone novel with no cheating, lots of steam, and a happily-ever-after ending.
Roxie is a romance author by day, and also a romance author by night. She lives in Los Angeles with one husband, two cats, far too many books, and a truly alarming pile of used notebooks that she refuses to throw away.
She's the author of the Loveless Brothers series, the upcoming Wildwood Society series, and a bunch of other books that are also delightful.
"I've also slept with loads of women and had the clap twice, syphilis once, and wound up with crabs after a particularly ugly night. I've not always been terribly concerned with safety, which is probably not a surprise coming from someone who used heroin intravenously every day for several years." - Hero Ummmmmm no, goodbye.
Not really 4 stars for me but definitely better than 3 stars.
Sweet. No OW drama. At all. The H was celibate for about 6 months before h. But he's a recovering heroin addict with some very unfortunate past behaviors. But the moment he comes out of rehab he's committed to changing his life path, so I gave him a pass. It's fiction and I'm not the one fucking him ;)
Now this book is interesting. Relationship of convinience is not something new in romance genre. In Never Enough, Miss Noir combines it with a interesting twist of addiction. She also develop an entertaining plot and chemistry between Gavin and Marisol.
I love Miss Noir names her heroine Marisol. It is excotic and sexy. Marisol is a determine strong young woman who has many chips and responsibility on her shoulder. One night she accidently stumble upon Gavin, the rock star.
Now Gavin is also a hero with many dark past. However Miss Noir chooses to reveal his past with humor and hope. Overall the story is combination of comedy with a sober note on addiction issue.
All around a lovely book, where one needs to suspend disbelief for the initial fake relationship set-up.
I like that the heroin, Marisol, has a life and does not just drop everything just to follow Gavin around. I especially like the fact she skips a red carpet event because she has previous commitment. The relationship has some depth to it, with Gavin fighting his addiction.
I did not like that we did not see much of Gavin being a musician. There are two concerts at the beginning of the book but after that, Gavin just seems to be hanging around doing nothing except going on dates with Marisol - ok, maybe he is writing songs when we are not looking. It is mentioned here and there. But my point is that he could have any other occupation at that point.
BUT this book has an unforgivable mistake: the writer states that the numbers two, four, six, eight, and nine are not prime and one, three, five, and seven are prime.
Two IS prime (and the number one is not prime). A quick internet search would have uncovered that information. I know, this would not disturb most people. But it made me incredibly sad to see such blatant lack of mathematical knowledge (or willingness to fact-check). If you probably guessed, I like math. And stats. And science. And true facts.
Roxie Noir is the QUEEN of capturing the magic of falling in love. IMO, there isn't a writer in romance who can top her in that dept. You get to fall in love right along with the characters.
And these characters?
W O W
Marisol was just so cool. Smart, dedicated & this law student took ZERO shit. I loved Marisol.
But I loved Gavin more. He was deliciously broken, putting himself back together one gritty step at a time. FYI, this book deals unflinchingly with drug addiction. Hard-core drug addiction. And it isn't pretty, but it's real & heart-breaking & PERFECT.
I enjoyed this story. Surprised because rock stars are usually not my jam. But I enjoyed the relationship building that went on. I do not usually enjoy stories with drug use of any type. It definitely brought my score down. He is sober for the vast majority of the book though so it was tolerable.
I picked this book up because of my crazy "I can't get enough Rock Star Romance" problem
It was really, really good. The "oh no I am going to read all this writer's back list" kind of good.
Noir manages to make me trust her as a Romance writer because she never chooses the easy way out while dealing with fun themes and balance to dark and the light with enough complexity to the characters and the relationship to make for a really satisfying love story worth reading again and again.
The premise of a pretend relationship is silly but I love this troupe because I adore making strangers deal with each other and have to kiss. So sue me. lol
The theme is really well done with the truth of pretend media relationships making if more believable, the hero's wanting choice in the matter, and the why the heroine agrees. Noir also messes with this theme in inventive ways that make the book a joy.
The Rock Star theme is handled with depth adds realism and conflict and characterization. The hero is in recovery for heroin addiction and it is a struggle. He is newly sober and his past and present and process deeply impact the relationship with the heroine as they would. This is realistic and moving look at what it means to be an addict, the scars of it, and the how it impacts others. I love this part of the book. There are little moments here and there such as Gavin's relationship with his band mates and something that a new band members does that could have been richer but this aspect of the book is really a treasure.
The heroine, Marisol, is great. I love the nuances of Los Angeles where she as lived all her life (and I have lived there too) that come with her character. The impact of being a child of Guatemalan immigrants, a first generation college/law student, and the complexity of striving is so well done. She is comfortable with her self, very smart, and intellectually and emotionially curious. She often struggles with the right thing to do and does the best she can. I wish her sisters and parents were a bit more present in the book and she had a close friend other than the one she is drifting away from but on the whole she is a fully realized person with her own goals and drives and this is why the hero loves her and we do as well.
The book is a slow burn but when they do get together the chemistry is off the hook. It is a super sexy book and yet Noir deals directly with the hero's sexual past and the conflict around that as well.
There is a well earned happily ever after and I hope we get to stay in this LA World with other books.
Sorry to say this one was just not my bag. The cover really caught my eye. So many shirtless guys on covers, but this one is a bit different. The premise is not so unusual- bad boy rocker, trying to make a come back. More about his reputation rehab. I liked Gavin well enough. Marisol too. I just didn't feel this one. Gavin's band must have made a boat load of profits for their record label to go through all that trouble to hire a fake girlfriend. Oh well, I read on. Yeah, they start to fall for each other. I might be tired of the rocker trope. This is 1st person POV, alternating Gavin & Marisol. Set in Los Angeles. Marisol is a law student. Struggling law student. I liked the writing. The plot just dragged a little. I got this through KU. Several of my GR friends really liked it. I think that I just didn't get in the mood for this one. PS, Dirtshine is a dumb name for a rock band. HEA. 3.25 stars
I loved this completely. Gavin is a rock star with a drug problem, he ends up fake dating Marisol, a very responsible law student to resurrect his image post rehab. Many things happen and everyone acts like a grownup. No magic cures, just people trying to be in love.
Gavin is fresh out of rehab and needs to get a respectable fake girlfriend to repair his image. Instead of choosing the former child movie star his publicist set him up with, he sets his sights on Marisol. Marisol is a law student with no ties to the music industry. She also needs the money he offers. They begin their fake courting for the cameras but also start to see each other out of the limelight. With Marisol's help, Gavin stays clean and improves his image. However, the industry isn't the easiest place to stay sober and Gavin's past is always a dark shadow looming over him.
I shipped Gavin and Marisol from the start and thought they were adorable together. I thought the drama regarding the addiction was fairly realistic and was satisfied with how it played out. I was surprised that the plot didn't dive more into the music aspect of Gavin's life, but perhaps I am comparing it to other series I've read. Smut factor was a 3/5.
Blurb: It’s a simple enough transaction. Marisol needs the money, and I need a nice girl to parade in front of the cameras. No feelings. No strings. No falling for anyone.

I really liked this book a lot! Marisol and Gavin were genuinely great together. My only complaint is that I felt like I never got t truly connect 100% with them as a couple. I felt like I need just a little bit more of a connection and although the one they had was very good, for me, I still needed "more" if that makes sense.
I was also a bit disappointed with the end. The 6 month Epilogue was great but I needed and wanted more on them and their future together. I know it said that there will be more of them in March, I believe, in her newsletter, but I couldn't help but selfishly feel like it ended too abruptly for me and that's just me. I WILL be looking out for that tidbit on them and will e impatiently to read it as well. They truly were a great couple and for me because I liked them so much I felt cheated on not knowing how they were in a year or two or five......
Marisol and Gavin. I adored them both. I loved every witty thing that came out of their mouths. Noir captured the slow build of the relationship beautifully, and it was fun and funny and wonderful. The only reason I kept setting the book aside is because I was so enraptured with this couple, I feared something would happen, and it was bound to, right? Because this is not just about this great couple, it is about addiction and recovery, and that is a tough road for anyone travelling it. Noir handled the subject well and with compassion while not taking away from Marisol and Gavin and their relationship. Just loved this one. I am such a sucker for sophisticated dialogue and humor, and this novel had it in spades. The ending is great, and I feel totally satisfied.
Loved this story! Gavin rock star and ex-junkie, Marisol 3rd year law student, a chance meeting at one of Gavin's concerts, and his management team deciding he needs a fake relationship to prove to the press he's staying clean. What can go wrong!
I didn't love the implication that when someone does you wrong it's the permission you need to fall back into old habits, but I suspect that is a truthful depiction of living with addiction or loving someone who is. (Thankfully I do not have first-hand experience of this.) I also was so annoyed at his management team for specifying date by date how intimate Gavin and Marisol needed to be for the cameras. Very ick.
V. v. steamy, great banter, real stakes, good boundaries for the most part, good communication for the most part.
TW: addiction, drinking, drugs, physical violence
Also P.S. if you go to Roxie Noir's website you can get a free digital Christmas novella and yes I already downloaded it, because I'mma need some stuff to read over the holiday break, assuming that I get a holiday break, which is seeming less and less likely since Matt came down with a fever yesterday and we're supposed to drive to his parents' tonight, and also I don't want to be a jerk but I NEED this, I CANNOT deal with a week straight of being the sole caretaker of a 3-year-old who does nothing but scream NO at me with no daycare and no grandparents to give me a break, I will go BANANAS, and yes I'm catastrophizing, he was up screaming at 4 a.m., but Matt promised he'd finally be healthy again in 20-30 years. So. Yes. Christmas novella.
Oh this one was really coasting to a four star read but it was the ending that did me in. No more reading books about heroes/heroines recovering from a drug problem. I did not like the ending. I didn't like how it played out. I did not like how Marisol reacted in the end to what happened and I didn't like how Gavin acted. I just did. not. like. it. It ruined for me what was otherwise a pretty good book.
I will definitely not read Liam's book because I absolutely LOATHED him in this book. He was an anchor that just pulled Gavin down. He may apologize and stuff to Gavin in his book but I disliked him too much to even read his book.
Triggers:
I do like this author but I am realizing that her books are hits and misses for me.
I discovered this author with Convict. I love that book and I’ve been gobbling her up ever since. The next book up is Never Enough, the first book in the Dirtshine series about a rock band.
Gavin is our hero and a member of the hugely popular group Dirtshine. He’s overcome a lot in his life. The worst was a destructive addiction to heroine. But now he’s clean, sober, and ready to start on the road again. He and his mates are starting off at a small venue to work their way back into band readiness, as they had to replace their drummer, as he is also addicted to heroine only he hasn’t been able to kick his habit. I’m giving this much info as he has his own book coming up, in fact the book I’m currently reading. He meets Marisol when she manages to lock him out of the venue he’s playing at. She is the opposite of all the women he’s been involved with in the past. She’s in school to be a lawyer, sensible and down to earth and doesn’t give a hoot he’s in some rock band. She didn’t even want to go to the concert where they meet. Now Gavin has some work to do to clean up his image as their was a tragic incident because of his heavy drug use and he decides that Marisol is the one he needs and when he offers her a huge sum of money to be his pretend girlfriend, that means she can pay off her student loans. She doesn’t really want to do it but with an offer like that she can’t really refuse.
I love these two, both together and apart. I admire Gavin for getting help and being in recovery. He’s rather undone by Marisol as he’s never met anyone like her before. She’s real unlike most of the people in his circle of acquaintances. She’s not the least bit impressed by his lavish life style and the real key to impressing her is the simple things. Marisol is a great heroine. She’s madly attracted to Gavin though it’s only supposed to be a pretend relationship and she can’t fathom he would be attracted to an ordinary and rather nerdy person such as herself. But he is of course. This is a romance.
This is a feel good book that has the reader smiling. It doesn’t get the 5 stars that my two favourite rock book series, Preload Series by Scarlett Cole and Ashes & Embers by Carian Cole. But it does get a solid 4 stars and a “thumbs up” and well deserved recommendation. And yep, this is a book I would read again
Genre: Romance - Rockstar Stand Alone: Yes Part of a Series: No POV: Dual Gavin and Marisol Steam Level: Quite Warm 5/5
As a fan of Roxie Noir I've come to expect a story that is both fun and serious, sweet and sexy. Never Enough met and exceeded expectations. Roxy Noir does a great job portraying a recovering addict in that she doesn't gloss over the cravings and the ugly parts of addiction. As a result this book is a bit gritty at times but so worth it.
The characters, both main and secondary, and great. Marisol and Gavin play well off each other and I found myself at times reading Gavin's parts in an English accent in my head. I love that they stay true to their core personalities while being fluid enough to learn and grow. The relationship between Gavin and his bandmates that Noir weaves is full of love and frustration. The closeness the original members share makes their bonds stronger, while Eddie seems to be included but not as close to the others which is typical with a new person in a group.
Once I started this book I could hardly put it down - often reading when I shouldn't be or staying way too late/getting up early to read more. This book is a must read, especially if you like content with your steam. I can't wait to read more of Roxie Noir's books!
I received an ARC from the the author and am voluntarily giving an honest review.
Gavin is a rock star who was at the top until his drug habit almost killed him and derailed his career. Now he is trying to rebuild it but in order to do so the label wants him to have a wholesome pretend girlfriend to show he is grounded. However meeting the girl they have chosen, he can't do it but then he meets Marisol.
Marisol has no clue who Gavin and has a way of captivating his interest. When he makes Marisol an offer to be his faux girlfriend she hesitates but eventually agrees. A friendship forms and Gavin feels like he has someone who just sees him as a normal person when their friendship leads to something more, Gavin withholds a secret from Marisol that could ruin everything.
I liked this, Gavin is a bit troubled but trying to do right but his reputation is tainted and I felt those surrounding him were a bit callous. Marisol seems him for who he is and doesn't waver on her feelings. I was entertained through out and thought the build up to the romance was great. Will check out more by this author.
ooooh what a beautiful book! full 5 stars and I wish I could give more. it was realistic and authentic, with H and h being lovable characters finding themselves in an arranged fake relationship and slowly falling for each other. of course, not everything is all shiny and rainbows, there are several factors threatening to destroy what they have together. the story feels like taken from real life and I loved their dialogues and how they interacted with each other. the H was into the h from beginning, there was wether OW/OM nor cheating. there's a good portion of steamy scenes and though I didn't think it were too many, I would have preferred one or two less for getting a much longer epilogue with a little more HEA feeling. that's the only little critique, but perhaps the happy ending has to be this way to make it authentic.
I really liked this hot, rock-star romance. Despite all of his baggage: drug addiction, dangerous and malicious band mates and a horrible reputation, Gavin was a really nice guy underneath. I hated that he was surrounded by all of those judgmental people who never let him forget his past. So they hire sweet law student, Marisol, to spruce up his image. But what happens if their pretend romance turns into the real thing?
Gavin is a rock star and a recovering addict. Gavin went to rehab to clean up his act and get back to his band. Liam is not so lucky. Rehab did not stick for Liam so he is out of the band and has been replaced. Problem is Liam is Gavin's best friend. Gavin feels lost and alone most of the time. Nothing really makes Gavin smile or happy not until he sees Marisol. Marisol is very out of place in her business attire at a rock show. And the fact that Marisol is not intimidated by Gavin's stardom get Gavin's motor running.
Gavin's publicist wants him back in the GOOD spotlight. Showing his drug addiction is behind him. To do this she wants Gavin to have a FAKE girlfriend. Gavin agrees even if he does not want to do it. But one look at the former child star they want to set him up with and he is out. NO WAY. But then he has an idea, Marisol. Marisol really needs the money to help her parents and improve her life. Marisol is in law school and is very pressed for her time but a girl has to eat and 2 to 3 dates a week with a hot rock star should not be too bad. Plus it's 1 million dollars.
Marisol is very stressed between studying, her classes, her job, her being Gavin's fake girlfriend and her parents really needing her help. Marisol is overwhelmed. Marisol handles everything fairly well considering all the pressure.
Gavin and Marisol become real friends over the course of a couple of dates and they really like each other. But after an on camera kiss goes terribly wrong Marisol feels she is not the right person for Gavin's relationship gossip.
Gavin and Marisol have real feelings for each other and decide screw the media and do the relationship for real. When Liam comes back into Gavin's life he has the potential to screw up the best thing that ever happened to Gavin.
Liam tests Gavin's sobriety and Marisol's trust. Things get very rocky for the couple.
The relationship with Gavin and Marisol is very cheeky and sweet. Their friendship blossoming from some off the wall banter in an alleyway to a real liking of one another. Then to true feelings. I loved watching these two build into a real relationship. I love the scene where Marisol is in the tub and she thinks she is dissolving and Gavin takes care of her. It was very sweet and showed that he was truly committed to being clean and sober.
Liam is alone and wants to pull Gavin back in to the darkness so he can have his best friend their with him. He does not want to get sober and does not want Gavin to be sober. His character made me sad and I wanted to nurture him just like Gavin.
Ok so bad boy rock star ✅ Hot Latina lawyer taking care of her parents ✅ Money needed and swapped around ✅ Makes for a very hot story and when you add that the rock star is British... it’s swoon worthy!
Gavin is a rock star and a recovered heroine addict. Marisol is a law student in need of some money, so she has to pretend to be his gf. They don't seem like they would be a good match, but he appreciated how she talks to him just as him, not looking at him like a celebrity or like she's waiting for him to mess up. There's a serious tone to this, as it deals with someone who is trying to make a comeback from addiction and has a past. For some reason they both keep things from each other that I don't think is a big deal, because they think it will be an issue. Trouble is, keeping something small from someone, the longer you wait, the bigger the problem. It's got humor too and some very sexy moments between them. Honestly, it made me want to go back into reading more rock star romances, which I haven't done for awhile. It has dual pov and a hea. I love the ending. I received an arc.
It's hard to put down a well-written, good story, with characters who are hot for each other. This is definitely one of those books. While the book focuses on addiction, it's written around a Rockstar, his band, and the love of a woman. She's not there to save him either. She's only there to love him and wow does she ever. This is my first book by Noir but now that I've found her, my TBR will be filled with more.
This was your typical romance novel with a bad boy whose getting over being a junkie and a good girl who falls for him. And I loved it; no matter how predictable it was.
Marisol is a law student. She is almost done with school. She's about to graduate. She's got her shit together basically while also completely not having her shit together. Her parents are in a rough patch and she's stressed out because of it.
Marisol ends up going to some secret show of a famous band with her best friend because her best friend is the new young trophy wife of the teams manager or lawyer or whatever tf he was. At the concert Marisol meets Gavin. He thinks that she's there because his record label sent her to spy on him. When in reality she's there when she doesn't actually want to be.
Gavin is an ex-junkie. He's a recovery heroine addict who is trying the straight arrow path. But he's a rock star. One of the most famous rock stars in the world. When he meets Marisol he's totally smitten with her. He wants nothing more than to spend more time with her and just talk to her.
Well, Gavin actually needs a fake girlfriend. His record label wants someone on his arm to show the world that he's no longer the junkie fuckup he was before. And Gavin gets it into his head that Marisol is the girl for that job. But of course after they've been faking dating for awhile, they decide they actually have feelings for one another. They start really dating and it's one thing after another that's being thrown at them to test their relationship.
This was a predictable book but it was enjoyable. Except for the fact that the author totally botches the use of italicized words. This is literally a definition from a website about why/how you would use an italicized word:
"Use Italics when you want to emphasize a certain word or phrase. A common use for italics is to draw attention to a particular part of a text in order to provide emphasis. If something is important or shocking, you might want to italicize that word or phrase so that your readers don't miss it."
However, the author of this book italicizes words just for shit and fucking giggles. And it SERIOUSLY annoyed the absolute shit out of me. On every. single. page. of my kindle there was a unecessary italicized word. Sometimes multiple times in one damn paragraph. I want to continue with the series but this was so annoying that I really don't know if I will. I'm almost tempted to read the next book so I can count how many unnecessary italicized words there are. -.-
There will "Never" be "Enough" drugs to fill the emptiness
This is a well-written but difficult read, however, it is not without its delights. The first part of the book we meet Gavin, the gorgeous, tattooed, hard-partying, bad boy millionaire rockstar who is months out of rehab recovering from drug and alcohol addiction primarily, heroin. By happenstance, he meets Marisol the scrapping law student who works hard and cares for her family. She is the first woman that made him feel and reassured him that he can feel after years of substance abuse and indiscriminate sex. They make a deal for the sake of public relations, that Marisol will be his paid fake girlfriend. Marisol accepts, of course, for the money initially, but things progress to a real relationship. The first part of the book seems frustratingly slow, but after considering the larger themes of the book, it was appropriate pacing to bring across the message of the difficulty of recovery and the difficult decision whether to involve oneself with the recovering addict. Gavin is a tempting delicious man and written to be a masterful lover with a British accent "to boot". The hot erotic scenes are some of the pleasures of this book. Ms. Noir has a particular flair with writing erotica. There are scenes in this book that simply break your heart. It is hard work to recover. Everyday there is a big decision to make along with the numerous ways your life must change to better insure success. Relapse not only hurts you but you will break the heart of your love and lose the one thing that fills this yawning void in your soul. This is a beautiful and serious love story. It is sexy and parts of it are so not. This is also a romantic love story. But it is a love story that teaches the reader so many things about relationships, romance of a different shade, what it takes to really love someone...And while having a support system and a great love in your life is wonderful, the decision not to succumb to the aching emptiness found in substance abuse, rests squarely on you, yourself everyday. One-click to this moving and beautiful story of love.
First Roxie Noir book and I am already a fan! One kind of story I enjoy above all others is a good rockstar romance, remembered seeing this series a while back and was really excited to find it was available to click over to my KU library.
Gavin, our H here, was recently released from rehab after years of royally screwing up, but this time, someone he partied with ended up overdosing and his band, Dirtshine (love that name!), was left hanging without a drummer and a lead singer, him.
Now, he's back in the limelight and their label wants Gavin to sign onto a fake, 'appropriate' girlfriend to show how serious he is about recovery. The chosen girl is not someone he can get on board with..at all, so a bigtime NO! I know you're thinking, another fake girlfriend story but I kind of love these and this was a good one...hello..funny, sweet and slightly broken, British rockstar!
Marisol is a hardworking, dedicated law student, close to graduation and makes a very awkward impression on said rocker at his concert she winds up attending with her best friend. This friend happens to married to the lawyer who's firm she wants into AND is also Gavin's legal council.
One of the best parts of this story for me was the easy banter between the 2 MC's. Gavin's sense of humor and British slang cracked me up constantly and Marisol's commitment to her goals never wavered even as she fell deeper under Gavin's sexy spell.
Loved their story- it was sweet, steamy, exciting and low on angst which was just what I was looking for after the last book I read had me in tears. Perfect entertainment for a relaxing, rainy evening. I'm happy to see there are a few more books in the Dirtshine series to get into 'cos I love a series I can binge through without waiting..Yay!
Gavin is six months sober after detoxing from every substance known to man. He is out of rehab, and opportunity his buddy never had the chance to do. He is the lead guitarist in the band Dirtshine, and everything is looking up. As long as one doesn't look too close.
After kicking his best mate out of the band, Gavin is hard at work piecing his life together and making better choices. And he is doing well, until Liam comes crashing, literally, back into his life.
Marisol is an second generation child of immigrants. Her parents are in the process of getting evicted, and she is on the final leg of law school.
When Gavin and Marisol's life collides, she is struggling to stay afloat financially, and Gavin is trying to stay clean.
She needs a miracle and he needs to rehab his image.
A fake relationship is born, and soon, Gavin and Marisol are spending all of their free time together...
But the little white lies they tell themselves are about to come back to haunt them, and Marisol doesn't know now if she can trust anything Gavin has ever told her.
Gavin and Marisol are a super cute couple. This book has a lot of HUGE pride and small communication. It always makes for frustrating reads for me. I have yet to see a good enough reason to keep secrets from your other half. Because I can never support the motivation, I always end up disliking the books because of the premises. This one is like that.
But if you love a good fake dating with miscommunication, this book will totally be for you! Lots of lies, lots of deception, a little bit of steam, and a cute couple! Happy reading!
Something weird happened. A number of weeks ago I downloaded a heap of books from Kindle Unlimited including Slow Burn: A Bodyguard Romance. Then, a few days ago I settled in to read it, I didn't bother reviewing the blurb and I got sucked in pretty good and it was a very enjoyable book.
There was a rockstar who is recovering from a terrible period of destructive addiction. There was a woman who is normal and who he forms an agreement with to have a fake relationship - this will apparently show the world just how much he's changed. Anyway, the relationship turns real.
Actually, this book really does shine. I loved the dynamics between the two characters, the dialogue was warm and funny. I enjoyed the real world aspects like the woman has to still study and pass law exams and he ... well he has a hard time with the addiction and the letting go of a bad friendship.
So, I got the the end of this and I was satisfied and happy and went to rate it and noticed the title mentions a BODYGUARD. What? There was no bodyguard in this this story.
The title I downloaded was the bodyguard one but the insides were from Never Enough. Same author.... different book. I can't work out how to alert The Authorities Amazon or the Author. But to be honest it doesn't really matter. I enjoyed the book I did read.
