Red Flags…

Too loud.
Too clingy.
Too much make-up.

I could go on and on. The other guys in the Single Dad’s Club would say I’m obsessed with finding them. But none of their kid’s mothers is the epic fail that my daughter’s is, so their opinions mean shit.

Caterina Santora has her own list of red flags…

She’s too young.
She’s my client’s daughter.
She’s my five-year old’s camp counselor.

The fact that she doesn’t remember me from six years before grates on me until I don’t have it in me to leave her alone any longer. I have to have her. But our lives are opposites in every way. In no way compatible.

When we’re together all the complications fade away and I have to keep reminding myself, even if I can have her— I can’t keep her.

descriptionThis cover is OK. Not really a fan of the model. He isn't how "I" pictured Marcus. That's just my personal opinion though. The composition is alright. I LOVE the font used for the title and the series graphic.description

description I struggled a bit with how to rate this book. I enjoyed it. I don't regret reading it. It was entertaining for the most part, but it didn't WOW me. I loved these author's other three books and went into this one with high expectations. I expected to laugh my butt off and enjoy some great friendships between characters. That's not really what I ended up getting.

description

Let me start with what I did like. The writing was great. The pace of the book was good. There were a FEW funny parts. There wasn't a ton of angst or drama. I enjoyed Cat's friends, and I suspect they are going to be matched up with Marcus's friends (I pity the heroine that gets DANE.) I was very intrigued by Garret though and can't wait for his book. The sex scenes were hot. I ADORED Lily and the scenes with her and Marcus were super sweet, and I LOVED Cat. Especially at the end when she stood her ground with Marcus and refused to settle.

description

So what didn't work for me? One, Marcus, he was just MEH in my opinion. I kind of thought he was an asshole pretty much through the whole book. I didn't connect with him and Cat as a couple. I also hate when characters take on guilt about something that is not even remotely their fault, and that was the case in this one. When I read why Marcus felt guilty about Lily's mom, I laughed and rolled my eyes. Really?! You are a 34-year-old man, and you believe that just because you somehow that is your fault? Really?

description

My second issue, DANE, omg was this guy an immature, irresponsible douchenoodle. I HATED him. Every scene he was in dumbed the book down. How this guy is allowed to be raising a child is beyond me. He doesn't seem to be able to take care of himself. He even let his friend crash into a wall of rock while they were rock climbing because he was staring at women. I honestly have my doubts that these authors can get me to warm up to this guy, but we will see I guess.

description

My last couple issues pertain to the plot. We never actually get to see what happened six years previously with Marcus and Cat. We get hints and little tidbits, but not the actual scene. She says he humiliated in front of a room full of people, but I have NO clue how he went about that. I would have liked to have read that scene to have a better understanding of what went down. I would have also liked to have seen how her parents reacted to her dating (being with), Marcus. There are a few sentences with Marcus worrying because he is a client, but we never see anything beyond that.

So as you can tell from the above review, I struggled a bit with this one. It had some enjoyable parts and some not so enjoyable parts. That said, I am feeling in a generous mood, and my rating reflects that.description

3.5 Cuuute!

This was a really fun book! It was fast and cute and the chars had great chemistry. And the MC was hot!

It's the kind of book you read when you need a break and have no idea what to read next.

I am really looking forward to the next books in this series.

Well, color me surprised!

The book was so much better than I expected after reading the blurb!
Much sweeter and deeper.

Very likable strong heroine.
The hero was ok. He was an amazing dad and a good man (not a jerk as I assumed).
Adorable how he cared for his daughter!

I would erase the embarrassing situation MCs had 6 years ago (as she threw herself at him and he pushed her away) - fortunately there was no detailed flashback.

I would also edit his friend Dane - immature, highly unlikable child-man. Mega meh 😖

But overall I liked their story.
Not everything was perfect, but the most important part I crave in my romance  - decent heroine with brain and self-esteem was done well.

Cute epilogue.

Rating: 2 stars to Real Deal

Hopefully I'll write up a more comprehensive review, but there were quite a few reasons I didn't like my first Piper Rayne novel, and some of those reasons are not reduced to the fact that the two cardinal protagonists are unlikable because they did not come across very well - Marcus because he was offensive as a character and I didn't get the impression he had deep interests for the female MC besides his attraction (he does fix up towards the end, but still, no depth) and Caterina because, again, her character isn't as clear cut or definable, her character profile so much weaker than Marcus's and for someone who supposedly resents Marcus for the humiliation he subjected her to all those years ago, and who claims that she'll never put herself in that position again, her remarkably weak will didn't do wonders for her character.

The sex scenes are great and I loved Marcus's relationship with his daughter as a dedicated single father, but the story just isn't detailed or consistent enough. In fact, it was vague and partly unrealistic with hot and cold, surface characterisation with two central characters that personify the term 'mixed messages', not just with each other but, especially to the reader.

Goodness gracious me! Does liking the cover help me in any way for what I’m going to write now will most likely not make me popular.

Well I finished the book and I really do not know what to say. Not what I expected to be honest. I struggled with the beginning and the middle immensely and found it to be tedious and tiresome. On top of that my believability muscle wasn’t really working when it came to the story. Or maybe I also just don’t have humor.

It felt week and flat and at times I wanted to DNF. It picked up at the end of the book. Maybe because it was the end. The couple just seemed to plod along the whole time really with nothing happening.

I love this trope but I expected more with Marcus and the whole disaster of that he turned her down at the age of 18 and then suddenly he has the hots for her. This takes place six years later.
I liked Cat and that she stood by what she wanted and that she deserved the real deal which means that Marcus needed to get unstuck. He sure did have his head stuck in the sand and if he gotten his finger out of his arse sooner than it would have been better at least IMO.

I would have liked to have seen the outcome of Cat’s family a big deal was made about it and then nothing.

The one person I despised in the book is Dane. God help me I wanted to punch him every single time he opened his mouth to give advice.

I haven’t read any of their other books and for the moment it’s a maybe I also requested book 2 and for the moment I’d rather stick needles in my eyes.

I was hoping for a charming, humorous read. I thought from the blurb that she honestly didn't remember him...
Meh.
I don't think I laughed once, although I did smile now and then. Mostly at Dane's (Marcus' bff) asinine dialogue and antics. (Not that I want to read HIS story!)
Charming? No. Marcus was the antithesis of charming. Every time things got uncomfortable for him and his widdle ego, he was a complete JERK FACE!

So when Cat was 18 and Marcus was 28, she made a heavy pass at him and he turned her down in a completely OTT public way. We never do get the full deets on this in this story. There's a prequel you can get by signing up for the author's newsletter.
Anyways, 6 years later, he sees her again and is instantly smitten with LUST. And I never did feel it was more than that til the very end/epilogue. The Epilogue was great though.

So Marcus and his friends are all single dads for various reasons. His is that the mother of Lily (his 5 year old daughter) is in jail. And every GD time he hears from this woman, he takes it out on Cat. Sure he apologises eventually. But it would be nice if he'd just once not treat Cat like an emotional punching bag.

The only interest he shows in Cat is in her hot body. He never asks her about her friends, her art work, her family. He's a selfish ass for the most part.

I may try another read by this author, but definitely NOT in this series. I was kinda interested in Garrett's story, but then I heard that

Anyways, safety is good

As for his apology for how he treated her 6 years ago

audio book was well read by wen ross and Kai Kennicott. THey actually alternate within each chapter speaking the H and h parts. It was a little odd at times and the sound quality would sometimes change abruptly mid-dialogue.

4.5 super sexy stars!!

PIPER RAYNE!!!!!! Piper freaking RAYYYYYNE! I love you! I want to thank you! REAL DEAL is just DELICIOUS. I mean SINGLE DAD'S!!!! *ALL the praise hands* Who doesn't love a HOT SINGLE DAD who DOTES on his kid!

My gosh, not only is this book, HOT and STEAMY and SEXY but it's also sweet and swoony and just AHHHHH! Because Marcus is a SINGLE DAD (yes I said it again) and he's ALPHA-MAZING!!!

Real Deal had me hook, line and sinker! From the off, my trip to Climax Cove was just perfect. The sizzling tension between our lead characters was all consuming. They drew me so deep into their story I never wanted to leave.

Once again, Piper Rayne also give us some outstanding secondary characters that made this story even better! I'm so excited for more books within Climax Cove.

WHY DON'T I WANT TO REVIEW THIS BOOK!? 3 stars...

Marcus is a member of the Single Dads Club. A club where single father's meet to talk about how their kids come first. They don't need a woman to show them how to parent. So when Marcus lands eyes on his daughter's camp counselor, he knows he's in trouble. He may not be part of his club for much longer...

Caterina is just here for the summer. She needs to clear her mind before making some important life-changing decisions. Everyone thinks that she is running away, and she might be. However, she just wants to focus on her kids at camp and have a nice summer. Not even Marcus Kent can ruin her summer. Who cares that she is assigned to his adorable little girl, Lily, at camp? Who cares that she threw herself at him 6 years ago? She can pretend that she doesn't even remember that night or him. He made her feel like she was nothing, so now she will finally get to return that favor. But, if she is being honest with herself, it isn't nothing that she feels for him - even after all those years.

I don't know how I feel about this book. I don't hate it, but I certainly don't love it either. It's okay. The storyline is good. A second chance for a romance that was forbidden at first. A single dad that needs to provide answers to his daughter that he can't continue to avoid. Of course, he nor Lily knows that those answers will allow them to move on.

The star of this book is definitely Lily. I loved her spunk. She had Marcus and Cat wrapped around her little finger. Kids in books aren't as annoying as they used to be. I was cheering Lily on when she was giving her dad a hard time about Cat. Go, Lil! Go!

I have been having a bit of a book slump recently that I can't shake. It is kind of like you have a craving for something, but nothing you do can satisfy it because you don't know what the craving is... Yeah, I need to shake this quick! I feel like my reviews are suffering because the book can't live up to my expectations - whatever they may be! So please keep this in mind when you read this review!

Review of Audiobook only: dnf
Review of story: No rating as I did not get far enough along. Maybe one to read and not listen to.

The dual narration made this too annoying to continue past the first chapter. Normally when there are male and female narrators they change based on the POV of the chapter. This one (at least for the first 45 mins or so) had both mixed together. When a female character spoke, the female narrator spoke those words and then the narrative continued with the male narrator. Maybe it's just me, but I found this too distracting.

When I saw that Piper Rayne was coming out with a new series I could not jump aboard fast enough. And the fact that it's filled with sexy single dads? UMM hello - Count me IN! Real Deal was funny, sexy, swoony and sweet and filled with a hot and sassy couple. I hope Camp Tall Pines is in session again soon because I'm ready for the next one!

Catarina Santora and Marcus Kent have a history. Six years earlier, eighteen year old Catarina threw herself at hot older twenty-eight year old Marcus and suffice to say rejection happened and poor Catarina was crushed. Fast forward to the present and sweet and innocent Catarina has grown up deliciously and is now a camp counselor to Marcus' five year old daughter. When sparks fly and old feelings come to the surface can Marcus and Cat make it work or will his trust and control issues force him to let her go for the second time?

While this novel is a standalone and the first book in a new series, it was absolutely wonderful to see new and familiar faces from the Modern Love series. It was SO HOT and sexy and Marcus' dirty talk was the icing on the cake. Furthermore it was fantastic to see how much of a doting and caring father Marcus was to Lily and the extent of his adoration. While I did feel that he was a little cold and callous at times towards Cat's feelings and the ending was a little rushed, I really enjoyed this novel and can't wait for the next one. I am especially keen on seeing how the authors redeem Dane in the next book because despite being funny, he was ridiculously immature at times. All in all this was a great read! 4 stars! ~Ratula

I am a sucker for sexy single dads. So, when I saw that this writer duo was introducing a series based on a single dad’s club? I jumped right in line, my grabby hands out in full force.

Because Real Deal is the first book I have read by Piper Rayne, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. It took me a little bit to warm up to it – I think because while Marcus (our hero) is indeed a sexy single dad – he didn’t come off as very warm or engaging. He had some jerk-ish moments, and more than a couple “big dumb animal” moments and so I needed a couple of his layers peeled back before I was able to appreciate him completely.

Once that happened, I completely enjoyed this story. While I struggled with Marcus at first, I warmed up immediately to Caterina – a woman several years younger than Marcus, but wise (and mature) beyond her years. She settled organically into Marcus’s little family, the relationship she formed with Lily (who is written in an adorably quirky fashion, and was impossible not to love) was heartfelt and sweet – without seeming over the top. Her chemistry with Marcus was incredibly hot – sizzling, actually. No lie, sometimes the heat between them stole the show…*fans self*. And when they’re hearts got involved? Game over. So adorable. So swoony. So good!

In the end, I felt like Real Deal was a completely satisfying read. It moves quickly, but never feels rushed. It’s light, but not too light – and it’s littered with some laugh-out-loud moments that completely made the book for me. I’m excited to see where the series goes from here – to learn about the woman patient enough to tame the outrageous Dane, and get more insight on the incredibly intriguing Garrett. If they all leave my heart feeling this happy? We’re in for a real treat. ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

***

So, first things first. I have loved Piper Rayne since book one. No questions, no doubts, loved. So of course after devouring that entire trilogy, there's no doubt this is an insta-click author for me. Now take that, and factor in a sexy single dad aspect? Oh, just write me out and pass the smelling salts, I'm one swoon away from calling in sick just so I can spend the day in bed reading.

I have to say I didn't quite have the intense connection with the characters as quickly as I have in the past, and Marcus' caveman style of attraction to Cat annoyed me at times, yet that wasn't nearly enough to hinder my enjoyment. By the time I got a little further in and fell in love not only with his strength and sexiness, but with his compassion and dedication as a father, I was a complete goner.

The Single Dad's Club is going to give these girls a run for their money, let me tell you. Dane is an asshole of the grandest kind, but something tells me he's a gooey marshmallow inside. Garrett is going to be my favorite, I can already tell. Raising a preteen on his own? Gonna bring out all my mommy fears and instincts with his story. This was a strong start to this new series, and the tie ins to my favorite characters from the first were a pleasant surprise but didn't leave you hanging in confusion if you haven't read it.

The drama threw me a little near the end, more of cave man Marcus, but I found it didn't annoy me as much by then. It really is a life lesson for a parent to learn that the happier they allow themselves to be, the happier their children can be. If you don't occasionally put yourself first emotionally, you aren't in any shape to make sure they're getting all they need from life. It's a difficult lesson though, and deserves a little drama to go along with it.

Overall, this was just the read I needed, and it left me with a pressing need to see how it's all going to play out for the Single Dad's Club. ~ George, 4 Stars

A delightfully sweet and tender love story with an undercurrent of fire and heat!

Single dad Marcus is comfortable with his life. Successful business, great friends, and the sweetest daughter anyone could ask for. But when a shockingly beautiful woman enters his life, for the second time, Marcus begins to question if having a woman at his side is something he's never realized he's wanted. Can he let this woman give up her hopes and dreams for always taking a backseat to his daughter?...or will he say goodbye to one of the best things to ever happen to him?

Caterina knows all to well who Marcus is. He's the man who humiliated and turned her away 6 years ago. But she's no longer that young and innocent 18 year old anymore. And what she's come to realize is that Marcus is not the same man either. And as hard as she tries, she can't seem to stay away from him. Is a summer fling all she'll ever be to him?...or will he finally open his heart to the possibility of something more with her?

Real Deal hits you right in the feels! It packs a 1-2 punch to your head and heart. Full of unconditional love and sacrifices, you quickly realize the potency level of sexy single dads. Marcus is just...WHOA! Not taking into account his overall sex appeal (I'll get to that part, don't worry), his interactions with his daughter will make anyone fall head-over-heels in love with him. Absolutely nothing and no one comes before her. Now you tell me how that just isn't irresistible? So now that our hearts are a gooey mess, in comes his attractive manliness. Yeah, can't miss that in the story. A hard worker who enjoys the outdoors, Marcus may not be looking for his Ms. Forever, but he doesn't lack the opportunities of Ms. Right Now. That is, until Cat comes into the picture.

Cat...I really liked her character. She equals Marcus in every aspect, but one - the risks she takes on the unknown. Cat is immensely caring, beautiful, and has this quality to her that makes you complete relaxed around her. It's no wonder Marcus can't stop thinking about her from the second he sees her again. But what Cat's searching for is a place to truly call home. A place that tells her she's exactly where she needs to be. And she quickly finds herself falling for the quaint little town that was only supposed to be temporary, and the man who she's not supposed to be falling for.

This book was not only charming and hilarious, but carried underlying drama and deep rooted, conflicting emotions. You have a single father always putting his daughter first, irregardless of his own needs and wants. And sweet and adorable little girl who wants a mommy. And a young woman trying to find her place in life. The atonement Marcus and Cat go through is enough to break your heart, but you can't help but understand the exact reasons the actions were taken. I found myself consumed with the need to help find a solution that will work best for all involved. But they each needed to be able to open up and trust one another, and that's always easier said than done.

A story that can capture the reader's attention and make them feel one with the characters is a true testament to the authors. Real Deal is a heartfelt and touching romance that will make your heart melt and your body sizzle.

A definite must read! 5 stars!

2.5 - 3 stars ?

It was an okay read, I guess.

I call books like this one 'the inbetweeners'.

Why?

Because they don't have that 'wow' factor and are not cool enough to be sitting together with the best ones in my book cafeteria, but also, they are not so bad to be sitting on the 'losers' shelf.

About the story?

Cat used to have a crush on Marcus and, 6 years before the story picks up, he rejected her due to the age difference and the fact that he just found out he was going to be a father.

This time they meet again, Cat is his daughter's summer camp counsellor and while she pretends she doesn't remember him, he is completely smitten with lust and wants her asap.

Also, Marcus together with Dane and Gareth have founded a Single Dads club where they meet and talk about their kids ? (i don't remember tbh).

And the other books are for Dane and Gareth. And I don't think I will be reading them.

Okay, maybe, just maybe I'll give Gareth's book a read, because he is a grumpy, broody guy and I like that.

However, even though Marcus thinks he's a celibate, he is screwing some girl in a different town. You know, even though this poor Charlie chick is all swooned about him.

So, this being a major 🚩🚩🚩, I am not so sure if I'll actually give it a try.

A giant nope for Dane's story, he was an immature douche, and I have no interest in getting to know him better.

This book ends with a HEA, but I'll be honest, none of this swooned me, nothing stood out in this story, the characters were all rather bland and the story needed some depth and layers.

This is a quick (or maybe not so quick) easy summer read.

So if you're looking for sth unforgettable that will make your heart squeeze and put you into a book hangover for days to follow, this is not it.

But if you look for sth very easy, with quite likeable characters, then be my guest, this book is it.

Title: Real Deal

*This story is for mature audiences only. Contains explicit scenes and language intended for adults 18+

Synopsis:
Red Flags…

Too loud.
Too clingy.
Too much make-up.

I could go on and on. The other guys in the Single Dad’s Club would say I’m obsessed with finding them. But none of their kid’s mothers call a maximum-security prison home either, so their opinions mean shit.

Caterina Santora has her own list of red flags…

She’s too young.
She’s my client’s daughter.
She’s my five-year old’s camp counselor.

Even after repeating this mantra to myself every morning on the way to Lily’s summer camp, guess what happens the moment I see Cat? Yeah, that mantra turns into ride me, doggie style and reverse cowgirl.

Every. Damn. Time.

My Thoughts:
What an awesome start to a new series! I had so much fun reading the Modern Love series and when I got the chance to read Real Deal, I jumped at the chance. Expectations were high and let me tell you I wasn’t disappointed! Who wouldn’t love a story about a single dad and a camp counselor at Camp Tall Pines near the small town of Climax Cove! The innuendo just cracks me up. Camp Tall Pines is a camp for single parents only to bring their children to in the summer.

I was so excited to discover that Catarina Santora is the daughter of the Santora Sausage dynasty and Tahlia from Modern Love’s #2 sister, (more innuendo)! When Catorina first met Marcus Kent, she was an 18-year-old wild child and she had a crush on Marcus. Needless to say, they have a history and no it’s not a pretty one. She threw herself at him and he shut her down in a very harsh and direct way, because she wasn’t taking no for an answer.

When Cat meets Marcus again, she pretends like she doesn’t remember him and he sees that she is now all grown up at 24 and he’s interested. However, his ethics has him second guessing as she is Lilly’s, his precocious 5-year-old daughters camp counselor. Marcus also is concerned with the 10-year age difference between he and Cat. Wait there’s more! He also works on Cat’s father’s yachts, so there is a glitch there also. So much working against them.

Cat and Marcus are wonderful together. Their chemistry is amazing and their love and concern for Lilly is so heartwarming. I fell in love with these characters and once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down. Before I knew it, I was 67% through the book. I couldn’t believe it. There is a lot that goes on in the book and of course I won’t give you any more information, you have to find out for yourself!

The secondary characters are a riot and they are all so different and sometimes I had to just shake my head at the things that would come out of Danes mouth. Dane and Griffith are Marcus’s good friends and also part of the Single Dad’s Club. Cat’s roommates are also a riot and I can’t wait to find out where this road is going to lead! The book had laugh out loud moments, some really sad moments and some moments that I wanted to shake a few people!

If you want to a really fun, sexy, summer read, then this book is for you! I promise you will enjoy every moment spent in Climax Cove!

Ahhh, a sexy single dad! What fun! Where are those men in real life? Wait, I'm married so it shouldn't matter. I could *look* though ;)

After reading the Modern Love series by this author duo, and loving it, I had high expectations for this. They delivered! This was funny in some parts, most definitely steamy, and quite honestly, Marcus had me a little mad through most of it LOL I didn't find Marcus as swoony as previous heroes from them. He had a bit of an edge to him and could be rather jerky. He was sexy as all get out and I loved his take charge attitude in the bedroom. It was when he was out of the bedroom that aggravated me. He ran hot and cold with Cat because of an ex who he had a kid with.

I loved Cat! When we met her in Tahlia's book, I loved her spunk. She didn't disappoint here. She has grown up and knows her mind. I'm glad she called Marcus out on his inability to commit...that's what it boiled down to for him. I also loved that Cat realized what she wanted from her time in Climax Cove and let me just say, YAY! (I'm trying not to give away too much LOL)

Both Marcus and Cat had interesting friends. I think I know where their books will lead us. Dane needs a strong woman. That's all I have to say on that LOL It was great to see Lucas and Tahlia in the future and to hear about Lennon. Those girls (and Whitney) will always have a special place in my heart for introducing me to Piper Rayne :)

*thanks to Piper Rayne for sharing a copy of this with me*

This was pretty good. I wondered all through the book why Marcus was being so secretive but then the bomb dropped and I felt bad for him and Lily.
I loved Marcus and Cats relationship. She's definitely not the same girl she was 6 years ago.
It's a good book

I was hoping it would be better

Not as great as I was expecting from other reviews. I will continue with the next book and just hope the writing gets better. I felt that there were a lot of places in the story where it dragged, but the ending wasn't too bad.

Marcus is busy being a single dad to his daughter Lily who is five years old. He hasn't got time for dating especially when Lily's the most important thing in his life and all the women he has gone on dates with only want one thing - Hot Sex and now that he's got his daughter to think about, he wants something real - Marcus wants the "real deal." Years ago, Marcus was in love with his client's daughter Cat, but back then she was young - too young for him, and he rejected her as much as he didn't want too. Both of their lives moved on, Marcus and Lily's mother had Lily, and then Lily's mum decided to up and left them and led her way into prison. The cat is back in Climax Cove and working for the summer as a camp counselor for a Single Parents camp. All the children that come only have one parent. When Marcus sees Cat, he tries to talk to her, but her face comes up blank, does she not remember Marcus? Cat has gotten even more beautiful, and now Marcus wants her and wants to make up for lost time, but Cat is not interested in being rejected and humiliated all over again. As Cat gets close to Lily over the camp, Marcus starts to wonder whether they could become a family? What will happen though when a letter arrives from Lily's mother, saying she wants a relationship now with her daughter and possible joint custody? Can Marcus save not only his daughter Lily but also his relationship with Cat and in doing so, hand in his membership card for the Single Dads club? Find out in Book #1 Real Deal by Piper Rayne.
Also a fun fact for readers, the cover model's real name is Marcus.

So, this was an okay read which could do with a careful revision. Too many misplaced commas, for one.

As for the story. Marcus and Lily made a good father-daughter pair. I'm not so sure that Cat really fits, though. Dane, Marcus' best fried, was a huge douchebag. I don't know how Marcus can stand him, honestly. I also felt that there were many filler characters, that didn't really have any part to play in the story. They were there for the sake of a scene only (like the guy who was working at the camp just for his resume. Why introduce him like that if it's not going to have any impact on the story?). I also was expecting more drama than I got (come one, it was all there).

Another great one by Piper Rayne—this book was the real deal! 😉💘

Full of sweet moments, heartfelt feels, swoony romance, and just the right dose of humor to keep things fun.

Basically: funny, emotional, romantic, and totally charming. Loved it! 🥹💞📚✨

5 Stars to Real Deal (Single Dad's Club #1) by Piper Rayne.

Marcus and Caterina (Cat).......

One of my favorite tropes is the 'single dad.' And this particular book was one of my faves too. I can't believe I never read this author before! Yes, this was my first read by Piper Ryan and I loved it. The book's writing flowed well with a steady pace. All the characters were likable. Not perfect of course but I enjoyed all their interactions with the H/h. The dialogue was witty and sexy. I actually laughed out loud quite often. I really did enjoy this book and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Marcus is a single father of a precious, adorable five year daughter. Lily. Always putting Lily's needs before his own, Marcus is pretty much against bringing a woman into their lives. He doesn't want to chance a woman getting emotionally close only to then leave. It's not only Lily's heart he needs to protect. Marcus is holding on tight to his own.

Cat, as it turns out, is Lily's summer camp counselor. She is young and beautiful and Marcus can't seem to get her off his mind. Several years prior, Cat and Marcus had a brief moment. It was humiliating for Cat. As a result of her mortification, Cat pretends not to recognize Marcus when he drops her off for camp.

I actually love the way things played out. Nothing was rushed and yet I didn't feel impatient or bored with their developing relationship. Watching them interact was fun and their chemistry was scorching hot.

I also appreciated how, even though they were crazy for each other, Lily always came first. Despite Marcus being ten years Cat's senior, she was the more mature. Cat had a solid personality; a good head on her shoulders. She was also kind and responsible as well as intelligent.

I could go on and on about their positive character attributes but I'll let you enjoy their story on your own. I will say I totally recommend this as a must read.

Marcus and Cat have history from a few years back. Not a very long time ago, but today they have both grown-up in leaps and bounds and are completely different people. They’re story was a lot of fun to read. If it’s one thing I’ve learned from Piper Rayne’s work .. you will have FUN reading her stories! The only sticking point I have (and it’s tiny) is the romantic journey between Marcus and Cat was very slow going. The story made me feel like it should have happened faster somehow … I can’t really explain it because it was just a feeling I had while reading. However, this book is STILL a solid read. I love that it’s the beginning of a single dad’s series because kids in romance are my jam! LOL

DEUTSCH - ENGLISH below

Zusammen ergibt das was?

Was kann euch also erwarten?
⭐ handsome single dad
⭐ zuckersüße Tochter
⭐ FMC mit Träumen und Zielen
⭐ witzige Bromance Dynamik
⭐ Banter und gute Dialoge
⭐ die ein oder andere spicy Szene
⭐ große Gefühle
⭐ small town setting
⭐ charmante Nebencharaktere

Was soll ich sagen? Ich bin großer Fan.💖

ENGLISH

Omg it's been ages since I finished a book in one day, much longer even since I finished a book in one sitting, but this one sucked me right in and didn't want to let me go (good thing I was sick and didn't have anything else to do that day 🥲😂).

It's no secret that author duo Piper & Rayne belongs to my favourites! I will inhale every single of their books in record time and even though it means the books don't last all that long, I am simply happy every time I get the chance to lose myself in one of their stories!🥰

Real Deal is the first book in a trilogie all about single dads, a trope that I actually like quite a lot! Additionally, we get #secondchanceromance , #smalltownromance as well as #agegapromance. And what does all of this make? An intoxicating mix!😏

As with every #PiperRayne book you cannot *not* like the characters - that goes for both, the protagonists as well as the side characters (and we'll definitely see those again in future books😉).
Despite not being the best with kids in real life, my favourite character was definitely Lily. This sweet little girl is the cutest and I loved how she not only loved Cat from the very beginning, but also how she frustrates her dad to no end by asking (more than once I might add) if Cat can finally be her mommy.😂 And Marcus? Well, he is not growing increasingly desperate by his daughter's asking, but also by Cat herself - or rather his growing affection for her.
Fact is, I cannot complain at all, because Piper & Rayne always manage to work that slow burn and tension. They manage to show the chemistry between two characters (emotionally and in the bedroom) perfectly.

So, what can you expect from #RealDeal?
⭐ handsome single dad
⭐ sweet daughter
⭐ FMC with dreams and goals
⭐ funny bromance
⭐ banter and good dialogues
⭐ a spicy scene here and there
⭐ big emotions
⭐ small town setting
⭐ charming side characters

What can I say? I'm a fan.💖
