This is the first book in the Night Rebels MC Romance series. This is Steel’s story. This book contains violence, strong language, and steamy/graphic sexual scenes. It describes the life and actions of an outlaw motorcycle club. If any of these issues offend you, please do not read the book. HEA. No cliffhangers! The book is intended for readers over the age of 18.
Chiah Wilder writes about rough, sexy men who know how to treat their women.
Always a lover of books, she began writing at a young age and continued through college with collections of short stories. Figuring she had to grow up and get a “real” job, her writing was placed on the back burner.
Her love of reading has always been center front in her life. Chiah’s love of bad boys both in and out of fiction has inspired her books. She loves an alpha male whose softer side is brought out by a passionate, spirited woman. In fiction there are no rules or boundaries, and fantasies can go as far as the characters want to take them. Steamy, romances with tough, sexy bad boys are her guilty pleasure along with brownies, cheddar cheese, and movie marathons.
The characters were likable, the plot was ok, the writing wasn't bad. All these mean that it's a decent book, but nothing memorable. It did make me interested in their world though, so I'll go on to the next one, maybe that one will be a bit more interesting.
Steel is the first book in the Night Rebels MC series by Chiah Wilder. It was the second book I've read by this author.
Steel was written in a dual POV, Steel and Breanna. It was entertaining with a suspenseful plot. I waffled between 3-4 stars and ultimately settled on a 3.5 rating, which rounds up to a 4 on this site.
Steel was the sexy President of the Night Rebels MC. He was part Navajo and had a teenage daughter that he adored. Family and brotherhood were important.
Breanna was the beautiful social worker that dedicated her life to helping others live a happy independent life. She had a rough childhood with a dead beat dad and a mother who barely survived life with a broken heart. Breanna was thrust into parenting herself and her siblings at an early age.
Steel - there were parts I liked about him but also an equal number I disliked. For example, he flew off the handle easily with no real provocation then was completely rude and infantile. He then always blamed Breanna and she gave in too easily. It was more the interactions of an abused/abuser relationship then a forever love relationship. It wrapped up ok in the end, but at times it felt disconnected and forced to me.
From the onset I was interested in the suspenseful plot of who was selling drugs to the local teens. It was a new trend in the area and one that would dominate the storyline as a secondary theme to the romance that was developing between Steel and Breanna. The mystery behind the drama was what held me captive and wanting more.
Steel was a fairly quick read. It was written well and was a spin off from another series, which I had only read one book, Insurgents MC series. Although it wasn't necessary to have read the entire series to enjoy the book, I think it would have filled in some holes that were somewhat confusing. It was a tough subject to read at times since Wilder tackled the subject of drug addiction, the pull it had on the addicted, the affect it had on family, and the ultimate consequences that can occur.
All in all, I enjoyed the book and look forward to continuing the series with Muerto's story.
Steel is President of the Night Rebels MC and has always put his club first. When his daughter overdoses he realizes he has to make her the priority and her social worker Breanna Quine wants to do what is best for the family. Breanna knows what is like to have an addict in the family and feels for Steel even though his gruff exterior has her thinking he is a jerk. Steel is attracted to Breanna and he knows she feels the same, the timing might not be right but Steel wants to see where life with Breanna goes and he may just find out she is the woman who can stand by his side no matter what chaos is swirling around his wife.
Several twists in the story that had me really surprised. Initially I was not sure if I would like this one because Steel is a bit of a douche but he grows on you. I liked Breanna a lot she has several sides to her and as her story unfolds you definitely understand where she comes from. Captivating read.
This book has a good storyline, but the characters' personalities just didn't do it for me. Conversations don't flow smoothly and don't seem authentic. I like this author's stories, but the dialogue needs work to not sound so choppy. There are little to no typos, so good proofreading.
Steel is the president of the Nights Rebels MC. A proud Navajo he is feared and respected. His daughter is caught in a web of drugs being brought into his territory. Needing to find out who is running the drugs effecting his community before others get hurt could pose deadly. Protecting his daughter is something he wont quit on or give up on.
Breanna meets the biker while sitting with his daughter whom she found almost dead in the slum house. She thought she was doing better. Not being able to get in touch with the girls mother she calls her grandmother who sends her son -- the man she is looking at standing in the doorway of the hospital room cant be him. This man is intimidating and beautiful all at the same time. But hating bikers is her thing -- her father was one and the man walked out - her life has never been the same.
This story has several plot twist in it and a lot of secondary characters as we meet more of the brothers of the MC. What I didn't really find favorable in the read was the relationship between Steel and his daughter and her mother. Steel didn't know his daughter had a case worker and Breanna had been assigned to her for six weeks? I didn't see how he could be depicted as a caring father and not know this.
The entire story was a little confusing for me. It wasn't bad but it just was not my favorite. Click it up and try it yourself. Let me know what you think. I just couldn't really attach myself to the characters and when that happens for me its hard for me to connect then as well to the story.
Thank you for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings from Beneath The Sheets. I love Chiah's other series and like I said I didn't dislike this read it just didn't hit me where it counts.
Well it started off with a bang and I thought it would be really good. After finishing I would rate it 3.5, maybe leaning towards a 4. I liked the story line and the characters but I could never really "feel" the love between the two main characters. It is still one of the better biker books I have read lately but fell short of my initial expectations. I did like the way the author dealt with realistic issues such as drug addiction and the ways addicts break other laws to get their fix. The story had the potential for 5 stars but fell short.
New author to me. Storyline is good but somehow I don't feel connected as much with the character. Maybe author writing style not really get to me. I don't feel sentimental emotions warm and fuzzy feelings.
When this one started out I liked that things seemed different, but as the book went on it seemed very cliche. It drove me nuts how all the guys in the MC were giving Steele a hard time for not screwing the club girls, kept asking him what was wrong. ::Yawn:: So over this in these kinds of books.
Breanna interested me at first, I liked that she was a social worker, how she championed her people. Yet she was stupid in her own life, Breanna knew her brother was an addict, yet she gives him money, then is surprised that when he doesn't pay his rent with that money. Come on, give me a break. I knew right away that the money would go to his drug of choice.
Between these things I can't keep reading, this one just isn't for me.
I wanted to give it 5 stars but it was just so sad for the H to lose his daughter. Also, the h was TSTL in trying to arrange a meeting with the drug dealer without informing the H.
I love that Steel (H) did not sleep with anyone after meeting Breanna (h). He wasn't interested in hooking up with ow and he didn't know why! Haha I always like that kind of story. It also took a while before they slept together.
I like that Steel's Navajo heritage was discussed in the book and incorporated in the story.
Meh read. Steel would go from ahole to great guy in like two paragraphs. Felt kind of bipolar to me. I didn’t figure out who it was till it was revealed. Ok read not sure if I will read the next.
I have no idea why I ever gave this book 4 stars. Probably because I loved the promise of the book, it has an happy end and it's safe. I was in la-la-land. It happens.
I just can't stand the Hero. At all. He's abusive, rough, domineering, pushy and behaves like a spoiled brat. He pushes the heroine away from her door, so hard that she falls on the floor, exposing herself to him. And he just stares at her and lusts after her. And she lets him. Such a doormat.
He's on and off with his feelings, treating her like crap, then telling her she's beautiful. I can't take him seriously.
And don't let me start on the MC. They just drink and have way too much sex with the club bunnies to ever get anything done. It's a great party for everyone. And the brothers are always gossiping like old grandmothers. Hounding the Hero why he doesn't want to spend time with his favorite bunny, all the time. I can't take this seriously.
Heroine hasn't a backbone. She feels sad and hurt and then the Hero just has to tell her how beautiful she is and kiss her, and everything is all right again. She forgives him everything. Flirting with other women to make her jealous, breaking in her home, treating her like crap.
And what's this with the Food-Stamps? How is a dealer supposed to know how much money is on them? Doesn't they need a reader for that? They just ask the buyers "how much is on the card?". And he tells the dealer "100". And dealer just believes them. It's not very believable.
DNF 50%. I just can't.

I liked the idea of this book better than I liked the book. Both the H and h were completely immature for people of their age and professions. And the constant changing of their minds from paragraph to paragraph was dumbfounding. It's too bad they were that way because I liked the story line as for the drama in their town and the Native American aspect.
OMG! This book is so good yet so freaking infuriating, too. I'm going to be frank and say this up front because there is no way it won't color the rest of my review. The romance part of this story is not in any way shape or form okay with me. I found the H, Steel, to be a despicable man. As far as the way he treated the h, Breanna, I was completely disgusted. He was hypocritical, hotheaded, stubborn, judgmental, selfish, borderline emotionally abusive. He may have been sweet about 30% of the time but in my opinion that is not enough to put up with what Breanna put up with. If all you care about is hot sex then sure why not.
Now here's the catch 22 when it comes to Steel. As a dad, he's great. You can tell he loves his daughter and he's sweet with her. He's great with his mom, he's even okay with his daughter's mother whose questionable choices in men makes me sick. As a club Pres and a brother in the MC he's perfect. So see, everything points to me wanting to love this man but I can't! I can not board that train. Ugh! *Hangs head and begins to sob*
As for Breanna, while I liked her, I am very disappointed that she let him treat her the way he did and then just acted as if it was her fault. She never held him accountable for his actions and I'm sorry but that is not okay with me. I'm used to Bikers being jerks, doing something bad and possibly making me want to throat punch them. I still will find a reason to forgive them and understand why the h loves them but Breanna baby, You Are Weak! This man needs therapy. His daddy issues are getting in the way of him being a decent human being towards his woman, walk away from the big bad Biker.
The story, however, is fantastic. I loved it. We've got mystery, who's supplying heroin to the town? Who's Candyman? What's going on with these EBT cards? I was kept on my toes for most of the book and just when I thought I had the answers we are thrown a curve ball.
The struggle Steel has with his heroin addict daughter Chenoa had my heart breaking for him. At 17 years old, it's hard to watch someone so beaten down by life. Then in contrast we have Breanna's brother Nicholas who is also an addict and it drives home how addiction destroys families. It made me unbelievably sad thinking about such loss of hopes and dreams and wasted futures.
All in all, I will say this is an excellent book. I may have not liked Steel's "romantic style" but how often can I say that an author evoked such a visceral reaction out of me with one of their characters? That aside, I have nothing but good things to say and I absolutely recommend this book. After all, maybe some women will find Steel is their fantasy of Prince Charming.

A great start to a new series! Chiah's books make my heart race when things get dicey with the club women and potential old ladies, but she also knows how to bring emotion into the equation beautifully! A box of tissues handy is advised as this book will test your patience and push your limits, but in a good way! Loved the story of Steel and Breanna, looking forward to Muerto next:)
This book was sad but good and brought up the very real issue of addiction, and more specifically, teenage addiction. Other topics were included, such as good stamp fraud.
One issue I had with this is book is the inaccuracy of how EBT cards work, and I thought the way they worked was the same in every state. I could be wrong, though, because food stamps may work that way in that state. Here, each person is issued with one card with their name on it. The amount of their benefits varies by household, depending on size and income, and they receive their allotted amount each month. Random people wouldn't be able to use the cards easily, and they don't have set amounts on each card. Unless Chenoa had the login info or password info, she wouldn't be able to find out how much the card had left on it. I might not be stating this right. But, either it was worded badly in the book and the author got it right, or she got it really wrong.
One thing that bugged me is that way too much in this book was the same as in the Insurgents series. The situation with Chenoa was different, but so much was the same - slutty club members, the club women, the dude being a manwhore, the dude having a favorite club woman, the descriptions repeatedly about red streaks on the woman's face as a reference to blushing, the way the men talk (like the club members all seem to have the same "voice"), the misunderstandings and way they're handled, and more. I'd like to see some variety in future books. They're not bad, but they are far from as good as they could be.
I did like that there was no sex with other people in this book as there was in several of the Insurgents books. It makes me hesitant to read anything by this author. But, this book was fine in that regard.
I understand the dislike of drug dealers, but Steel kept blaming them for Chenoa's addiction. Addiction is a sad, painful, horrible disease, and drug dealers are at fault for making the drugs available, but they are responsible for addiction itself. Unless a dealer forcibly shot up Chenoa, he or she was not at fault for Chenoa's addiction. She made the choice to try it in the first place, and while I understand the reasons people turn to drugs and alcohol, the blame cannot be put on the stores or the people who sell it unless they are forcing it (like by holding someone down and injecting them) on the people they're targeting in order to make them addicts.
I feel like there were inaccuracies and misleading or outright wrong information that should have been researched better, but I do applaud the author for including difficult subject matter that affects many people.
If you can overlook the negative things I mentioned and you're not bothered or offended, I do recommend it. I've read worse.

Steel is a MC/romance story and a very enjoyable one at that. The way the author writes makes it so easy to get into it is an effortless read. The chapters were just about the right length also, pulling you through the story.
We met Steel, President of The Night Rebels MC and Breanna, a social worker. Having had experience with dirt rough bikers, Breanna wants nothing to do with the arrogant self-centred Steel, but she finds that she can't stop thinking about him.
Steel is confident after his ex that he isn't interested in any more relationships; he will enjoy woman but that's all. When these two explosive characters meet, their thoughts and feelings around everything they knew changes.
Initially meeting Steel I found him to be horrible, arrogant and rude; however as the story unfolds and we get to know him, we understand a little better why he is the hot head that he is. Breanna is just lovely from the start; sassy and she takes no crap from anyone. A woman that can love but be firm when need be.
You will be hooked from the beginning of this story, I was. I needed to read more to find out where the story would go because it really could have gone in a different direction than it did. A definite must read!
Wound up really liking this and definitely would read more from the author. No cheating, no ow/om drama, HEA and I didn't notice spelling or grammar issues. Started off good, then slightly wobbly, then good from there on. Setting is southwestern Colorado.
The H is half Navajo/Irish president of an MC, he has a 17 year old daughter (from his high school girlfriend) who has been abusing drugs and now is into heroin. The daughter lives with her mother who is not a bad mother but more of a friend and doesn't monitor her well. The ex and the H do disagree on how to raise the daughter but respect the other as parent to their daughter.
h is daughter's social worker and gets a tip that she is in an abandoned building where she's shot up. h's intervention saves the daughter. H & h meet at the hospital, both feel immediate attraction but H is surly because he doesn't trust "citizens" especially government workers (prior social workers have limited his time with his daughter because his club and the fact he lives there).
h has a brother for an addict that comes to her when he needs money, which she usually gives him. ***This sort of bugged me because he would say it was for rent and instead of paying his rent she gave him the cash even though she knew it would go up his arm. He also stole from her. I came around to this because it felt real, families often want to hope against hope their loved one is telling the truth and I can't judge others when I haven't been in that situation. h also had a father who was in an MC and he cheated on his wife and eventually left her which devastated her mother to the point the h was made responsible for her siblings (who are all losers).
The H & h have a series of encounters where their passion boils over and usually she would put the skids on and he would make a flip dismissive remark to her so they both have some bonehead moments but when they come together it's awesome. They really had some sweet moments together. h winds up moonlighting in a bar (because she needs money to help her brother and pay off her student loans) and it turns out the H is the co-owner.
There is a very sad moment in this story that some may have a hard time with. It was a situation where in other the books a character would use it to push the other away but in this case, their love was the salve that helped heal the one with the loss. I really liked that.
The author does a good job of building this story, I liked a lot of the secondary characters like Steel's mother, some of the club members and even his ex.
There are a lot of characters and several different MCs mentioned and sometimes it was confusing at times. It didn't interfere with my enjoyment of the story but I kind of gave up trying to keep them straight. So that and the fact that some characters and storylines just faded into the background (like the h's best friend and her working at the bar) were NOT negs but stood out a little bit.
Loved it! First book in this series come out with a bang! I love the Insurgents MC and just knew Chiah would rock The Night Rebels MC, and she did. I can't wait to hear more from Night Rebels MC.
Chiah Wilder writes this novel with hopes that it will elicit a connection with the characters, Steel and Breanna, who come together due to her position as a government social worker and his daughter being her client. I had a terrible time connecting to these two individuals even given the fact that it is presented with both of their points of view. He is supposed to hold an elite status as president of the Night Rebels MC, a seedy outlaw group of men who have club women to use at their disposal, casual sex in common areas in which he does not indulge in due to his desire for privacy...? The reader is to believe that he gives up his promiscuousness upon meeting Breanna and he is confused as to why. They connect then disconnect numerous times, all the while they are attempting to assist his seventeen year old daughter with her addiction to heroine. Steel makes his decision to find who is distributing the drugs to those living in his county and Brianna continues to work as a social worker dealing with her own personal family issues. They unite rather quickly, jumping into bed with his arrogance in tact and her emotional conflicts shadowing her decisions. Inclusively, they have intercourse only a couple of times before they profess their love for one another and he agrees to shield their relationship due to the conflict of interest based on their professional status. Do not miss the fact that she is a white chick and he is of Native American descent being an underlying dilemma brought about repeated in this story, references made to their differences and how racial or ethnic backgrounds throw a major impact on how this storyline is presented. Hate and segregation are included and easily distract and become frustrating when it is dropped in lightly in some areas and majorly in others. This book ends after a great loss and then a bounce from a epilogue that jumps to them being married and having a child. Steel changes, becoming a one-woman man, having her wear his patch and becoming his wife. She quits her job to be a stay-at-home mother. I cannot lie, this book did not hold my interest very well and was difficult to follow based on what felt like a lack of/unbelievable information. I would not recommend this book to others and even if I read this in some other order, I would probably not make it to this one if they are all written the same as this one has been.
Steel is a fast paced mystery MC story with some romance but it left me wanting more from these two main characters in the romantic emotional sense. I actually would have enjoyed this more without the storyline of her brother as I felt both of the two main characters had so much going on in their lives that the romantic journey took second place.
Breanna and Steel's chemistry I did not feel until around the 30% mark as I felt there were many storylines lines for characters introduced into the book.
The mystery of the Candyman was well done in that for one I did not guess him until the big reveal and that I had thought two other characters were the Candyman so that was well hidden.
I really despised Breanna's brother and Steel's daughters storyline was incredibly sad and a tough journey At times.
The angle of the reservation was different but I did feel at times the story did not flow and I admit to reading over some of the mc drama as I wanted to get back to the romance of Steel and Breanna's.
Two moments that did not flow for me was the altercation between Steel and Breanna's when he pushed her down through her front door and then also their declaration of love, I did not feel it at that time. When her brother ransacked her house and there was no follow up perhaps with Steel understanding the drama she was dealing with her brother would have perhaps combined their stories of drama and drugs.
To me these two characters had such dramatic personal stories with so much heartache that their love story came in second but the ending does give them a HEA.
This story is no doubt one of my top reads of 2017. Steel is the President of his MC, which leaves him to take care of his guys. Breeana is a social worker, and one of her clients is Steels 17 year old daughter. She id dealing with demons and drug use, and Breeana is doing all she can to help. Steel dosent like the government in his business. Yet he cant fight the attraction to the social worker. Breeana dosent trust bikers, as her dad was one and chose women and the club life over his family, yet she also cant fight the attraction between her and Steel.
This book was deep and the passion between Steel and Breeana was amazing. The drug issues dealt with in this book was brilliantly told. I laughed at parts and bawled in others. This is a not to be missed book!!!!

This ignited mixed emotions. A rollercoaster of an unconventional meeting centred around a Navajo reservation. Breanna is a case worker assigned to the reservation tasked with reporting on missing food stamp EBT cards, being bartered for drugs and profit.
Steel and Breanna’s relationship was unrelatable.
As the President of Night Rebels MC, a proud Navaho, rough around the edges biker, he behaved despicably and was prone to making snap judgements.
His daughter Chenoa is a product her environment, with a surge of opiates being readily available and struggling to fit in, she overdoses.
He meets his daughter’s case worker for the first time at her hospital bed and is rude. It’s not her job to babysit his daughter from unsavoury lifestyle elements.
Her drug addiction, an irresponsible mother, her mother’s creepy live-in boyfriend and an absent father (Steel as a biker, is not considered an appropriate role model). She ultimately petitions for him to gain access and to have Chenoa live with him on the condition he live away from his club, which he is granted.
There were no other people for them although their chemistry was lukewarm and felt oftentimes contrived.
Steel behaved bipolar with his on-again, off-again emotions. Their mean exchanges weren’t soft and gentle. He acts despicably and she apologises, easily forgiving his bad behaviour. He is sulky, recalcitrant and overbearing.
Chenoa’s death was poignant, a parent should never go through the loss of their child.

This was an okay read for me. I just wasn’t a huge fan of the touchy/feely type of MC. It was different but almost too different to make it a great MC romance. I like my MC romances with bada** alpha bikers and there were parts where Steel cries and the brothers are all hugging. It just took away from that alpha manliness I’ve come to expect and love from an MC read. I also spent the first few chapters very confused as to why Chenoa, Steel’s teenage daughter, even has a caseworker and why she wasn’t allowed to visit her dad at the clubhouse. It’s explained later in the book but I couldn’t even concentrate on the storyline I was so confused about things.
Now on to the parts I enjoyed. When Steel is being an alpha bada** he’s all in and I LOVE he and Breanna together. The plot twists are great and kept me flipping the pages and unable to put the book down.
The story wasn’t bad, just a little confusing. I’ll still be on the lookout for book 2 in the series! Read and reviewed for United Indie Book Blog!
STEEL is book one of Chiah Wilder's new MC Series, Night Rebels MC. Steel is the president of the Night Rebels, he was once a member of the Insurgents MC, if you have read any of Wilder's Insurgents MC series then you have heard of Steel from NR. This storyline is filled with great scenes but some of them are heartbreaking. I went though every emotion reading this book, I was up til three in the morning because I had to finish this story or I would of never been able to sleep. Wilder hits some serious issues in this story about the effect drugs have on families, teens and communities and they were spot on. Steel is a more serious story, but there is humor, love , violence, alpha males and strong female leads. Some of my favorite Insurgents also have a camo in Steel. Overall loved this story and I can't wait to read the next installment in this series. Happy Reading!!!
I laughed when Steel said he treated Breanna with respect. Uh, dude, you might want to look up the actual meaning of the word because you most definitely don't!

I loved this book. The story was great and the authors writing sucked me in from the very beginning. This story was Raw and Emotional. We all love a hot biker but Steel was so much more, he was also a father who was fiercely protective of his daughter. Breanna could hold her own aswell, even though she was going through her own problems she stood her ground.
Steel is the prez of the MC and he is all man. He lives his live for the brother hood and his family, woman are a no go for him since his break up with his daughters mother. He enjoys the club girls but they all know where they stand.
Then one night after he has received the call regarding his daughter he comes face to face with Breanna, she steels his breath, attractive and a spitfire, just his type...BUT she is his daughters Social worker, works for the government and even though he detests them all, he cant deny the pull he feels for her and so begins the love/hate relationship.
Breanna loves her job, so when she receives the call regarding Chenoa she goes straight to her. Drugs have played a big part in Breanna's life her younger brother is an addict and she will do everything in her power to help Chenoa from going down the same road. Whilst at the hospital she meets Cheona's father Steel, he makes her feel things she never knew possible but he is everything she swore she would never have. She is no stranger to the the MC lifestyle her father was in a club and he destroyed her family.
This couple cant fight their need forever and whilst trying to help Cheona they become closer. Steel knows his priorities lie in protecting his daughter and ridding the town of the drugs that are sucking the life out of people but he cant stay away from Breeana and Breanna knows a relationship with Steel could make her loose not just her job but herself but they cant stop whatever this is between them.
Will Steel get to the root of the problem? Will they get a HEA? What will happen to Breanna's brother and Steels daughter?
