- The Basement This is a shocking story of kidnapping, rape, torture, mutilation, dismemberment, decapitation, and murder. On March 24, 1987, the Philadelphia Police Department received a phone call from a woman who stated that she had been held captive for the last four months. When police officers arrived at the pay phone from which the call was made, Josefina Rivera told them that she and three other women had been held captive in a basement by a man named Gary Heidnik. He imprisoned women in chains, in the filth and stench of a hole dug under his home.
- Serial Killer Groupies This book delves into the twisted psychology of women attracted to some of the most notorious monsters on the planet, giving true crime readers real insight into this phenomena.
- Escaped Killer When this killer was on the loose, citizens were vigilant, yet scared. Children were not allowed outside to play without adult supervision. But then he was captured, tried, convicted, and put away for life in prison. The community could finally breathe again. They are out of danger. Until the day the convicted killer escapes prison and rains terror upon anyone and everyone in his way. The manhunt pursues, the killer kills, and earns the title of a serial killer.

This was a great collection of true crime stories by author, R. J. Parker!
There were quite a few crimes that I had known about, but most of the crimes within these pages I had never even heard of before so it made for a very interesting read. I won't go into detail about all the crimes that were compiled by the author as this book was loaded with the most crazy and nutty criminal/serial killers to ever walk this earth!
The author went into quite a bit of detail for each criminal with background story and how justice was served in each case. Kudos to the author for the extensive research on all the criminals! Four stars for this one.
If you are looking for a brief insight into serial murder profiles, this works. If you're looking more for details on the processes used to identify, capture, and prosecute the perpetrators of the murders, the amount of work spent solving the crimes (well and/or poorly executed), look to other true crime novels. The details are brief, most looking to be directly taken or referenced from other sources (articles, reports, or previous true crime novels) and not much else. Some of the cases were interesting, but I'll be finding a different book for those to better understand the research and procedures used to capture the killers.
This is terrifying, brutal accounts of serial killers & the author doesn't leave anything out. I like how he categorized the books &described each serial killer in depth The book on serial killer groupies was a first for me , and I have often wondered why these women have even a slight interest in men who have committed the most vile acts on humans & fall in love or even marry these psychos . I do have somewhat of a grasp on why they do interact with such men & the consequences one such groupie paid. This set is one of a kind , for sure but I do look forward to reading more from this author.
If you love true crime books, this is a great book to read. Not only does it tell about the crime, but you get a background of the childhood history of the criminal. Plus the sentence of the criminal.
This is a collection of books containing all types of crimes and murders. You will definitely have a lot of topics raised to get into, and you can bypass those that don't interest you as much.
A repot poorly written. Each case has information that is repeated, it appears to be done to create length. I finished but would rather been reading g something else.
As soon as I saw this book was available I downloaded it. I loved this book. It was just as good as I expected it to be. I read a lot of true crime and am always glad to find out new information. This book didn't disappoint, and I will be reading it again. This book definitely deserves at least a second, or maybe even a third read.
