There is more to Rachel Clarke, the British born actress, than meets the eye… In an effort to appear unavailable, and desperate to escape the advances of an admirer turned stalker, Rachel marries. But as the convenience wears off and exhaustion from filming sets in she finds herself seeking the refuge of her beloved cabin. On her way an unexpected snowstorm throws her, literally, into the path of Jem with whom she forms a firm friendship; something she thought impossible with the ‘tell-all’ world of celebrity gossip. The easy going attitude in the small town of Bradely allows Rachel to let down her defences and it’s not long until new feelings towards the paramedic surprise the award winning actress. However, her ensuing divorce and the unwanted attention from her long-time stalker causes an unfortunate series of events to unfold. Can their fledgling relationship weather the storm or will the pressures surrounding Rachel’s celebrity status prove too much?

Inspired by my favourite authors, as well as some less than stellar reads-that made me believe even I could do better-I put pen to paper...or more accurately fingers to the keyboard!
I hope you enjoy my efforts; they keep me out of mischief!
Reading The Cabin reminded me of reading Grace Falls. The general impression was very similar -- a nice enough story with a nice bunch of characters, but in serious need of a good editor. I have read a lot of free online fiction in better condition than The Cabin. C. Mack definitely has potential, but I hope that she will find a professional editor before publishing again. Being an indie author is not an excuse not to hire an editor, cover designer or ebook formatter. No hard feelings, C. Mack. :) 2 stars
Ugh....I don't usually mind editing issues. However, this book drove me crazy. The slang/lingo was inconsistent. Tons of grammar and/or left out words from sentences. This got worse as the book went along. Toward the end the names were so intermixed I sometimes had to reread passages because I couldn't tell who was speaking. I rarely complain about these things... But this was really bad and really distracting from the story.
The story itself was ok.... Maybe I've just read too many "I'm thirty something with no idea I'm attracted to women" stories lately....but it just didn't do it for me.
Don’t judge this book by its cover, there is way more to it. It is a wonderful story with lovable characters and lots of fun and action. Highly recommended!
Ohhhhh... bloody enjoyed this one. But who doesn't love a cabin in the mountains story? Although, would have been a 5* if it had been a little bit longer.. but maybe there's room for a sequel.
Noted a bit of Yorkshire slang in the work too... which was nice to see.
Slow start but soon was in their world and enjoyed it. The story moved along well and I'll look out for more by her - lost a star on the outrageous brick wall ending!
What a fun and light read! I wanted more though, like what happens after. Anyway, at first I had to get used to the author's style and pace but then, and i don't remember which part exactly, i forgot about my little pet peeves and was transported to Rachel and Jem's world. I want more of it.
Oh my gawd. The current Kindle Unlimited cover has got to be the ugliest book cover I've seen in a long time. They should've stayed with the green branches cover, which isn't bad. The current is the worst.
to start with but after the first chapter I was hooked. I think the mountains were the winner for me. Only kidding, the story is very well written and it wasn't about an absorbed prima Donna but of two normal people falling in love through Friendship. Although one is famous. I really enjoyed the characters especially Lucy. Drunk and naked made me laugh really hard. Read it will make sense. Enjoy I did.
Very interesting plot found it highly mesmerizing. I loved Jem and Rachel and the way you worked their growing infatuation with each other. The ending was fantastic and hopefully left room for more stories from you.
Another love story with some SVU. Good reading with some pace, at times confusing but readable. Many editing errors, but not enough to make the story bad. Keep you guessing until the end.
Slightly predictable storyline in places, but engaging non-the-less. Would have given 5 stars if not for the few obvious typos and quite abrupt ending. Would benefit a sequel.
This is down to earth story with a bit of twist and drama. Both characters are very much down to earth with legitimate issues and awesome way of solving daily problems.
I thought it to have more depth as it began quite nicely. Don't get me wrong, this was an easy, nice read, but I expected more depth. To easy, too simple and too predictable to rate it higher than 3 stars.
