Tedd grew up with three brothers. His family lived on a farm in Pennsylvania for several years then returned to Elmira until Tedd was ten years old. His father's work then required that they move to Gainesville, Florida. There, Tedd's first art lessons in an abandoned dentist's office over the Happy Hour pool hall eventually led to a fine arts degree from the University of Florida.
He and his wife, Carol, started their family in Tallahassee where Tedd worked as a commercial illustrator. Carol, a kindergarten teacher, drew Tedd's attention to children's books. Their first son, Walter, inspired his breakthrough picture book, NO JUMPING ON THE BED!.
He and his family now live in Elmira. His second son, William, now stars in NO MORE WATER IN THE TUB!, a sequel to his first book. He has now published over 50 books as author and illustrator.
128 pages. This is a fun book of facts. Kids can learn a lot from this book on many topics, especially science. It has a helpful glossary and index at the back of the book, too. The book has funny Fly Guy cartoons throughout. Highly recommended for Grades 4-5. It would be a great book for parents to read aloud to younger children, maybe as young as second grade. It has colorful photos and illustrations throughout that work very well with each topic. I really enjoyed reading it.
Fly Guy answers questions about the human body, animals, nature, and more in this big, boldly illustrated book. Children are a curious bunch, and this will provide hours of entertainment, education, and experiments to reinforce concepts. The publisher suggests 8-12 year olds, but this would be fun for parents to explore with their younger kids too. Great book from Fly Guy!
Cool facts on everything from the human body to animals, from plants to just interesting science facts. Experiments are included and note when a adult's help is needed.
Diverse children are included in the photographs. The facts will appeal to readers and so will the Fly Guy and Buzz comic strips interspersed throughout.
This book was a fun book to read to our daughter before bed. We couldn't read it all in one night! We had to spread it out. But there's so much fun information, especially all the stuff about the human body like ear wax and sneezes. It's science in a way that's fun and memorable for kids to learn about.
Fly Guy and Buzz answer more than fifty “why” questions about the human body, animals, nature and other cool stuff. Questions range from “Why do I hiccup?” to “Why does the moon change shape?” A hands-on science project and activity is included for each category. Reviewer 13
This was just the right amount of information for us right now (kids 6 and almost 4). The projects were also approachable and fun. We did most of them.
