WASP:
Zoe Kealoha is a military research scientist. Her work is aimed at saving lives, but when intruders force their way inside her home, she only has seconds to hide beneath her bed. As she hears the heavy crunch of footfalls creep closer, she realizes her quiet, orderly world is about to be upended.

Unlike Zoe’s well-ordered world of hypothesis and laboratory-controlled environments, Gage Harrison loves the rush of risk. A member of the United States Marine’s elite Raider unit, Gage is a warrior in every sense of the word. His soft spot is Zoe. When he hears desperate screams from inside her home, his instinct and training switch from lover to guardian. He’ll stop at nothing to save Zoe from whatever evil lurks behind her bedroom door.

While Gage may have thwarted an attempt on Zoe’s life, he recognizes the skill of the men sent to abduct her. They, like he, were trained killers. And Gage knows they’ll be back. Gage and his team are willing to risk everything to protect Zoe, but untangling the sticky web of intrigue and finding the person behind her attempted abduction isn’t as clear-cut as it seems.

When an author writes a successful series about a group of people, as in the case of Fiona Quinn’s Lynx books, they often leave readers with the desire to know more about the people and the world they create in those books. Author Quinn has decided to answer this question through two ancillary series and her new book ‘WASP’ is the first of one of these.

In the novel, we discover the relationship between Special Operator Gage and Zoe, a ‘lab tech’, who is the centre of his life. Although, in the spirit of her other novels, Quinn doesn’t let this become a simple romance novel. Her habitual elements of a tightly woven thriller are ever-present. First, we discover that Zoe’s job is something far more complex than Gage imagined and from then things just become frenetic and deadly. Her heroine from the Lynx series even puts in a stellar guest appearance. The plot is complex with red herrings strewn for the unwary, and the characters superbly drawn.

Fans of Fiona Quinn’s action romance thrillers are going to love this one. Prepare for a fast-paced ride that will keep you up until the early hours as you turn the pages. In my opinion, it is her best yet!

WASP is the first in the Uncommon Enemies series. I was looking forward to starting a new romantic suspense series. Unfortunately in the end. this book wasn't for me. Despite that, there were some things that I did like about it. It definitely had some good action scenes and the pacing was, for the most part, pretty steady. I also really liked Gage. His take charge personality was attractive and made him a likable character. I just wouldn't have ever picked Zoe for him.

What I didn't love was Zoe. I had a really hard time understanding why Gage was falling for her. I never got the sense that other than sex, he would really be attracted to her. She was pretty passive and one dimensional for most of the book. While the pacing was OK for the most part, I did feel like it dragged in parts of the book. For instance, it took way too long to get Zoe out of the hospital. Her life was clearly in danger, yet a lot of time was wasted having Gage running around talking to people. Too many characters were introduced in the beginning of the book and I had a hard time keeping track of them all. I also spent a large part of the book feeling like I was missing major backstory.

I'm a huge fan of Ms. Quinn's from the very beginning and I love being back in this world. Her characters are always solid and very real with full development. The stories are also well written and thought out. I love the mystery and the romance of it and can't wait to read the next one!

Want a book that will keep your interest? Well this book is for you then. It has romance and suspense all in one. Zoe’s goal in work is to save innocent lives. When highly trained intruders attempt to kidnap her she hides underneath her bed. Gage…A Marine Raider and Zoe’s lover who interrupts the kidnapping by taking out the guys who seem to want her really bad.
When the safe house offered by the FBI falls through Gage turns to his friend Titus an operative from Iniquus. They have little time to find out who and why people are willing to kill to get to Zoe. The problem? Zoe’s work is Top Secret and talking could get her in trouble. What’s a girl suppose to do?
To find out what happens you’ll need to read this hard to put down book by Fiona Quinn!
Can't wait for the next book by Fiona Quinn. An Author that doesn't disappoint!

I highly recommend reading this wild paced adventure that will soon have the reader flipping pages quickly in anticipation of what will happen next to the heroine and protective lover. It has all of the elements.. adventure, suspense, thrills and spills! One that any thriller reader will totally enjoy! I promise.. you will NOT see the end coming!

The story is about Zoe Kealoha. She is a military research scientist working on saving numerous lives with her research. She is caught totally off-guard when a group of masked men force their way inside her apartment. Zoe is able to quickly hide and hear them talk about her. When she hears Gage, "a friend with benefits" walks in on the invaders... who are tossing the apartment looking for her. He shocks the daylights out of Zoe by dealing with them rough and quick. He is a member of an elite unit and will do anything to keep Zoe safe.

Zoe Kealoha is a brilliant military research scientist with her work being aimed saving lives. The problem has become, what she's coming up with could take down nations in the wrong hands, and it quickly becomes apparent that many are after her. Gage Harrison is addicted to the rush of risk, and as a member of the United States Marine's elite Raider unit, he is aN alpha warrior. Gage and his team are willing to risk everything to keep Zoe safe, but will they figure out who all is behind everything in time? This is the first time that I've read anything by Fiona Quinn, and boy have I been missing out. This is a fast paced story, full of excitement and suspense that kept my heart racing cover to cover. With her talented writing style, she had me fully invested in Zoe and Gage from the get go. I think my favorite thing about this story is that Zoe is no wilting flower doing nothing until she's rescued, she's a strong female bad a** in her own right. Anyway, before I let secret spoilers out, I'm going to wrap this up. I cannot wait to dig in to the Lynx Series asap, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Any great series of books is filled with characters that you want to come back to again and again, and Fiona Quinn has created those characters and that world that I want to visit as often as possible. From the original Lynx books through Wasp there are consitantly smart and interesting characters that are thrown into great stories. I especially like Wasp because it's storylines are working on multuiple levels that keep you guessing right up to the end on which way it's going to turn and who's pulling the strings. As always Fiona's hero's are larger than life, their hearts are pure, and their actions keep you on the edge of your seat. I would happily recomend this book to anyone who enjoys a good thriller.

Fiona Quinn builds on the world of her highly successful Lynx books with this new taut thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Quinn has intensely researched everything from her locations to the organizations she describes, but she never lets the details get in the way of telling an immensely engaging story, with well-drawn characters that you can easily relate to. She extrapolates from today's military, government, and scientific communities to pose a very real "what if" scenario guaranteed to keep you flipping pages and guessing at all the possible outcomes until the very end. A must-read for anyone looking for quality writing and a story worth telling.

Fiona Quinn, author

A long time coming for reading this complex and stellarly written novel. The workings of the mind of the book's creator completely astounds me.

Expertly written and thought out, Ms. Quinn takes the reader into the mind of a scientist. The scientist, Dr. Zoe Kealoha is working for a company that just may have her developing apocalyptic weaponry. Enter in Gage, a former Marine Raider, who just might be swapping from lover to protector.

Read this fast paced thrilling ride of a story for yourself. I highly recommend this novel. I was gifted a digital copy of the book from the author. I leave this review voluntarily.

Is anyone who they say they are?

Secrets can be deadly, especially when people are greedy and corruption takes over, Zoe finds she has no idea who can be trusted ...apart from Gage. The shadows can be deadly and Zoe and Gage are in a race against time to uncover the truth, they learn more about each other than they ever thought possible but this only uncovers more positive traits than negative. Zoe is a scientist, she deals in truths, in facts she can prove and results she can see...she doesn't do emotion and most people see her as cold and aloof. But Gage sees past all of this to the woman underneath.
A fantastic addition to the Iniquus series which I read on Kindle Unlimited.

Another great book from Fiona Quinn. When Gage opens the door to Zoe's and hears her scream, he goes into warrior mode. He will do everything he can to keep her safe while trying to figure out who is after her and why. There are players on the board from all the alphabets, but who is friend and who is foe? He uses his connections with Iniquus to help them. A great love story and quick paced mystery all in one. You will definitely want to add this to your bookshelf.

The story opens with a bang when dr Zoe Kealoha hears people enter her apartment late at night. Fortunately, her boyfriend and marine Gage disturbs and disarms the intruders, but after the incident it is clear events have been put in motion that threaten Zoe's safety. Gage has connections with Iniquus (from the fantastic Lynx-series) and tries to keep Zoe safe while everyone is trying to make sense of the situation. Lynx has a small but impressive cameo in this.

The story is intricate and very engaging. Zoe is not at all like Lynx. She is very introvert and a scientist. I liked the fact that Gage and Zoe have been seeing each other for six months already. It was not really a romantic story, more suspense.
That is actually not my favorite genre, but I like the intelligence of Fiona Quinn's stories.

The Lynx series is one of my favorites, but in 4 books you can tell a more elaborate story so a comparison would not be fair.

I received an advance copy and I this review is as spoiler free as possible.

I was just blown away by this book. Suspense/crime/thriller isn't my usual genre of read and if I do read this I usually insist in having a good dollop of romance in there. On first inspection there seems to be very little to nil romance in this fast paced, action-packed tale, but actually it has the most wonderful, romantic love story flowing through it's bones and underpinning the entire thing.

I have to say that it took me a chapter or two to get into the author's style of writing. It was well worth that little bit of effort because once the plot kicked off it had me gripped and the time flew by whilst reading this.

Zoe is a quirky science genius, not that Gage knows that just yet. She is working on something big but, as with a lot of inventions/discoveries, what was meant to be helpful can often be turned into a deadly weapon. In this amazing story we have good guys, bad guys, innocent bystanders and red herrings but just who is who? The plot moves along swiftly and smoothly so that you are carried along with it, rather than struggling to keep up. Ms Quinn managed to keep the tension and suspense going, without becoming boring, repetitive or cliched. From start to finish you need to be paying attention, there is just so much going on (in a good way - no florid overdone descriptions, no unnecessary dialogue and no filling time here).

Zoe is a finely crafted character and had met her ideal man in Gage, not that either have acknowledged that fact. They are both very independent characters who don't want to have to change or become responsible for the other - it sounds cold but when you reach the scene where Gage explains to Zoe why she is like an orchid your heart will melt and you will truly understand the depth of their relationship. Gage, a big tough Marine Raider has the soul of a poet. He appreciates and understands Zoe in a way that we would all love to have.

This without a shadow of a doubt is a solid 5 star book based on the quality of writing (and editing which was excellent), the plot, and the characters. Fiona Quinn is definitely going on my 'read more by this author' list.

Having just finished the previous book in the Iniquus chronologic order, Cuff Lynx, I wasn't sure how well Wasp would measure up. Well let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It was an altogether different type of story but it captured and held my interest from the onset. International intrigue involving the CIA, Israeli Special Forces and a US based company with shady dealings, lots and lots of fast and furious action, the introduction of the Panther Force team, murder & kidnapping plots and so much more make Wasp another enthralling read from Fiona Quinn.

Dr Zoe Kealoha and Major Gage Harrison have been in a non-relationship relationship for about six months. They enjoy each other's company and have great chemistry in the bedroom but she's into her career and he's not into love. Heck, he thinks she's just a lab tech not a brilliant scientist working for DARPA. However, walking in and saving her from an attempted kidnapping starts them on the road to reexamining their feelings. It seems that there are a lot of entities interested in Zoe's current research project and are willing to do whatever it takes to get to that info. The body count increases exponentially as Panther Force team and the FBI has to keep scrambling and changing their game plans. Heck, even safe houses aren't safe from the predators. Zoe is reeling from the chaos and Gage knows enough to give her space to work things through. In the end, it's Zoe's analytical skills that align all the players and details allowing the team to round up and takedown the bad guys.

Awesome espionage and action. If I didn't know better I'd say Zoe and lynx were sisters. Both h's in their own series are smart and independent. Although Lynx has training and Zoe does not.
A review mentioned that they were suprised Zoe was paired to Gage but I was not. The H being military needed an h that could stand individually and cope but also bend for the romance side.
I enjoyed that iniquus was a key part, along with panther, in this story, and future operatives are introduced.
Fiona Quinn has a superb mind and puts it altogether in an amazing plotline.
In this book, Ms Quinn slips in undertones of parallel morals in the world of today.
The last chapter wrapped everything up pretty quickly which reduced the action in this story. Apart from that
I'm so enjoying this author.
I haven't finished the Lynx series, I'm actually following the world of iniquus in chronological order. I'm finding it a great way to keep my intrigue satisfied and track favourite characters.
The touch of romance with some steam was a nice addition.
Narrator Sean Crisden is brilliant, I've listened to him in other books and he breathed life into all these characters.
The lynx series had Jesse, a female narrator speaking and I was hoping I'd enjoy the switch up. I certainly did.

This was the first book I read in "The World Of Iniquus" genre by Fiona Quinn. I was hooked from the start. This particular book I downloaded (kindle) as part of a boxed set of four series starters. The different series, are in fact all stories about individuals in different teams that work for the Iniquus security and protection organisation and the assignments they get involved in. The writing is engaging, the characters well rounded and the storylines intelligent and exiting - and importantly, believable. The romance (and consequent sex) does not dominate at all, but comes about in a natural way. In this particular book, a young scientist, girlfriend of an ex special forces man is being hunted by unscrupulous people for her research. The organisation - with the boyfriend, who joins the organisation - deals with the danger in a plot full of suspense and intrigue that I didn't want to put down until the end. One thing I love is how the characters from other teams and other parts of the organisation, plus the FBI connections, become involved and move in and out of every story. Personally, after reading the four books in this set, I Googled Fiona Quinn's books and found her website, listing them in order, which I've kept on my device for reference.

Unintended Consequences

Scientist Zoe Kealoha is creating a blood identification system and micro robot she believes will help law enforcement protect innocents from wrongful arrest. Unfortunately, FBI, CIA, DARPA and others see it as a weapon they can use. When her project makes her a target of attempted abduction, it's only the timely arrival of her boyfriend, Gabe Harrison, Marine Raider, that saves her. But it is clear in this comprehensive, complicated and intense story that this incident is just the start of a convoluted and dangerous situation. Anywhere politics, war and money is involved greed and a power struggle must follow. Gabe brings the honorable and highly competent Iniquus into play to help protect Zoe. We even get to see the extraordinary genius of Lynx, the Iniquus puzzler at work (don't miss her series). But Zoe is a genius in her own right. Though truly a scientific introvert, she and Gabe have a special connection. This story is fascinating in how the strange and disparent pieces of intrigue floating through the suspenseful mystery are tied together to identify the culprits, and save the world; and, also bring Gabe and Zoe together in a fulfilling way.

Heavy on the intrigue light on the romance

So I will keep this review short and sweet. It is just like the title of my review ...very very heavy on the intrigue and light on the romance. And when I say heavy on the intrigue, I mean to the point of where it was almost hard to follow. I mean I like to read to escape real life so who wants to work that hard to try and understand the book. especially one that's supposed to be a romance book. the H in the h hardly spent any time together and when they did it seemed forced. almost like the romance was an afterthought to the mystery. I mean there is only one love scene in this entire book. The parts where the military guys were doing their military op stuff was nice but those were few and far between. and again the romance between H and h was not believable at all. Don't get me wrong the story was well written it's just too much mystery and not enough romance and the little bit of romance there was just completely missed the mark.

great read

I really enjoyed this one. I had fun with Gage and Zoe as they tried to figure out and unravel the knot that wound itself around Zoe. She has people trying to kidnap her and thankfully Gage shows up at the right time and he is connected to Titus at Iniquus so he is able to reach out and get some help. Zoe is a scientist and different. The way that she processes things. I loved how Gage understood her and loved her for her. This situation brought out how much he enjoyed being with her and that she was independent and could stand on her own two feet and not change to be with Gage. Just like he didn’t change to be with Zoe. They definitely have a lot to unravel between her two research programs that she is working on and why people are after her and where they are coming from. There is a lot of interest in her from a lot of different parties and I enjoyed watching as things came together and started making sense. This was a great read and I am looking forward to more in the series.

This is the first book in the Uncommon Enemies series by Fiona Quinn. Zoe Kealoha is a brilliant military research scientist whose work is meant to save lives. When intruders break into her home, she barely has time to hide, realizing her world is about to be turned upside down. Gage Harrison is a Special Operator and warrior who is dating Zoe. When he hears her desperate screams, his instincts kick in, shifting from lover to protector. Though Gage manages to stop the immediate threat, he knows the attackers were highly trained and they will return. Gage and his team must unravel the web of intrigue surrounding Zoe’s work and find the person behind her attempted abduction before it’s too late. An exhilarating fusion of romance and high-octane suspense, this fast-paced thriller hits all the marks for fans of military intrigue. With gripping action, covert missions, and simmering tension between the leads, it delivers heart-pounding drama and persistent emotional stakes. This is a compelling page-turner where passion and peril collide in the most electrifying ways.

I am not a scientist myself, but this author makes it sound like the science was accurately researched which makes it much more attractive to the reader. The heroine is a brilliant scientist, but is very different from the heroine in Quinn's Lynx series of books. Zoe is not a "brave fighter" as Lynx is in spades in those books. Having read the four books in the Lynx series, it was really fun to have Lynx make an appearance in this book. The book is filled with action/adventure/suspense/romance... what more could a reader ask for? The book blurb will give readers good insight into the plot so I will not repeat it here, but it is nice to know that readers will not be disappointed with the ending to this complicated series of events (when pieces of the puzzle are finally put together). I highly recommend this book and hope readers who start with this book will go on to read all of Quinns' books. They are amazing.

Wasp is by Fiona Quinn. This is a great book with plenty of intrigue. I could not put this one down although when it got to the really scientific details of Wasp, I simply skipped that. I didn’t understand all the details and really didn’t want to.
Dr Zoe Koeloha is being targeted but doesn’t really know why. She has developed BOMIST which is being used to identify possibilities of people by grouping them with their DNA by markers. If a male is the subject, it may only deliver male offspring. She designed it to be used to keep innocent people from going to jail. Now it is being used to match up refugees, especially mothers and children. She has also designed WASP which is a type of drone which can identify people based on their DNA and then be used to inject them with poison or whatever. Her boyfriend, Gage, has to keep her protected if possible. With the resources of his team, maybe he can.
