Lily

I'm a little hormonal right now.

Y'see, I found the ring at the bottom of his sock drawer, a modest diamond sitting on a thin, yellow gold band. But now 8 weeks later, it's gone. He returned it and my once-devoted boyfriend is having second thoughts.

Did I mention that I'm pregnant?

Anyway, I had to get out of the city and I had nowhere else to go. So, I jumped in my car and headed to Reyfield, Illinois. Now I'm working for a grumpy cowboy who sets my hormones into overdrive.

Great. Just great.

Jakob

I like to keep to myself. Just me and my farm. So when a chatty city girl shows up in search of work, I'm hesitant to hire. But with her adorable blond ringlets and her pretty pink lips, I can't bring myself to say 'no'.

And did I mention that she's pregnant?

Anyway, I've got to keep my head on straight and ignore the way she sends my libido into overdrive, all while keeping this farm from plunging into bankruptcy.

Great. Just great.

Ok, I'm a sucker for REALLY cheesy heroes, ok?
Cut me some slacks!
Some may want to argue he's a rebound for Lily, but seriously? Have you seen the cover? He's nobody's rebound over douche bag king.
Ok, he might have some weird fetish for pregnant women. But very ahem....honourable fetish.
So 3.5 stars really.
Half a star deducted because of the unnecessary push-pull.
Half a star down for bringing his ex and her failure back, even though I have mixed feelings about it. I mean comeuppance. But then why not for Trevor the douche?
And half star down because this hero was too good to be true.
Not only was he almost instantly in love with Lily and the baby, he has offered his ex forgiveness over cheating and offered to take care of her and her baby no matter who the biological father was. In the past of course.
This guy had a huge crush at first sight on our heroine (to be honest strong but average compared to the hero), however he just went full on committed caveman protective almost husband the moment he realised she was pregnant.
That was really sweet and ummm......REALLY weird at the same time!!!! I mean who does that? I understand he realised her ex has abandoned her and the baby, but still.
But overall extremely sweet hero, who loved the baby as much as he loved lily. He was so hurt when Lily didn't tell him about her worry about the baby, he was like "but what if I REALLY was the father, would you have been able to exclude me like this?"
So yeah I rounded it up to a 4 star.
Might not be everyone's cuppa.

Sweet fast read

This was a cute fast read with a broody hot cowboy. Plenty of steam and chemistry. I loved Mini's character. I do wish Trevor had gotten what he deserved, that would've made it a 5star read to me.

The first half of this book was so good! Jakob and Lily’s banter and chemistry was great and I loved the concept of the runaway city girl being pregnant and having no other option but to work on a farm and get used to country life.

Unfortunately the second half kind of lost me. The author kept introducing new dramatic plot points only to have them be resolved either super easily, or just not resolved at all.

The last one (mentioned in spoiler tag) confused me the most. Like what was the point in that? It left me with more questions than answers, like wouldn’t he want to know what happened to ?

This was pretty insta-love after he discovers she’s pregnant but there is a ton of back and forth later on. It would have worked so much better if the build up to the romance was dragged out a little more and for there to have been one conflict at the end, rather than so many little ones.

Quit after the 2nd chapter of the h being selfish and entitled. Who crash lands on a never-met-bofre single-mom sister, then proceeds to eat all her kids cereal and milk? And she free-loaded on her ex until she accidentally-on-purpose got preggers. Nope not the book for me.

This is the third book I've read from the Dirty Suburbs series and I've loved them all. The books are written with such wonderful humour but also with an intensity of emotions.

The characters are so well written that you warm to them instantly, Jakob and Lily were no exception to this. Jakob is all grumpy and bossy, but Lily warms his soul and mends his broken heart. She has bumbled along in life and never really grown up until she finds herself pregnant and homeless.

Lily and Jakob made an amazing couple, the chemistry between them was intense and also believable. I liked that there relationship developed over time, rather than being 'insta-love'. Of course things didn't go smoothly and there was plenty of angst and heartache mixed in with the love and steam. The emotion was so well portrayed that, as with her other books, Cassie-Ann L. Miller had me totally immersed and invested in the story.

Unlike some shorter length novels, the characters and plot are both very well developed and the book, whilst moving at a good pace, never felt rushed or like parts were missing. I can highly recommend this book, and will be reading the first two books in the series as soon as possible.

Where do I get a Jakob?

Seriously?

1. He's hot!
2. He treats his grandmother like she's the queen
3. He's great with animals
4. He puts everyone's needs before his own
5. And... he willingly takes on the emotional drama of a pregnant woman, who doesn't have two cents to her name and who's whole life is a disaster. She's a walking disaster!

This book was sweet in all the right places.

The only thing for me was, Brittany. I have so many unanswered questions about the woman who attempted, and in many ways almost did, destroy the man Jakob was. Good thing for him, his grandmother Mini wasn't about to let that happen. At least not on her watch!

Can I move to Reyfield? I’m getting addicted to these Dirty Suburbs stories and I just can’t get enough! This story focuses on Lily, who flees her douchebag boyfriend when she finds she’s pregnant and he not only has no intention of marrying her, he wants her to terminate her pregnancy. Lily ends up taking refuge with her sister, even though they have no relationship to speak of (yet). While she is there she meets Jakob, who has sworn off women after the last one left him in the dust. Their friendship is slowly developing as she takes care of his ailing grandmother, and the love between them soon becomes more than either really knows what to do with. Jakob is hotter than hot and makes the ideal protective partner and father. Lily is strong and feisty but not at all interested in being alone. This author pays a lot of attention to detail so the story flows smoothly, and she really knows how to crank up the heat to make their love scenes are absolutely combustible! Even if you haven’t read any of the previous books in this series of standalones, you’ll want to read this one. Especially if you’ve ever wanted to swoon over a tall bearded farmer! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

KU can be a treasure trove of fun, easy reads like this author's Dirty Suburbs series. I started with #5, went back to 1 and read through all of them up to this one in a long airplane/airport travel filled weekend. Quick, easy reads with instalove/lust, a little angst, sex, and sexy Hs/hs. Overall fun and perfect for wham bam reading.

Jakob is a sexy farmer who doesn't trust women and is only focused on Mini, his grandmother, and his struggling farm. He's not the most socially or emotionally available guy but he's a good guy.

Lily is about as messy a heroine as you can be - pregnant by a man who doesn't want to marry her and wants her to get rid of the baby, has no money, and lives with her estranged half-sisters.

Together though these two are sweet and sexy. I love that Lily doesn't let Jakob hide behind a wall of emotional silence and makes him talk to and listen to her. As Jakob started sharing his past and his emotions with Lily I fell in love with both of them even more.

It's a solid read and KU made it well worth my time and money.

Can't wait for Grace and Daniel's story because what a dumba## he was in this one. In books 1-5 we see glimpses of their struggles and I want more.

I actually went into this book blind - having not read the blurb. I really had no idea Lily was going to be pregnant! I can honestly say I don't know that I would normally read a book where the heroine is already pregnant by another guy but once I started reading, I couldn't put it down! Lily is somewhat of a free spirit in the sense that she picked up her entire life and moved without a plan, without a job, without any money really and is just going with the flow trying to figure her life out after her relationship with her fiancé didn't quite work out the way she thought it would. Jakob is definitely not a free spirit. He's a stickler for the rules - you're late, you're fired - and is somewhat of a grump, with a farm to run and a grandma to take care of. He's not very trusting of others and doesn't give second chances...until he meets Lily! I loved their opposites attract story and they opened each other's eyes to a new way of living! Jakob's fierce loyalty and compassion will make you swoon and the chemistry between him and Lily practically burns the pages! I highly recommend this one!

Old McDonald don’t have nothing on Jakob

Sweet, adorable, sexy giant Jakob. His heart is so loving. He’s a giver even if he doesn’t want to admit it. Even with his heart guarded from being broken again he couldn’t help but take care of Lily because she needed him and don’t get me going on how he worshipped and looked out for his grandmother Mini. It’s not often that I really like the heroine as much as the hero but in Lily’s case I most definitely did. She was strong and always put the best interest of her unborn baby first. I love the dirty Suburb series but I must admit I’m not found of the older man younger girl oh I mean woman books. That’s why I’m struggling with whether or not to read book seven in the series about Evangeline and Raphael but I’m excited about finally knowing what happened between Grace and Daniel in book eight Dirty Forever.

Sometimes the ladies in romance novels just scream train wreck! Lily is broke, pregnant, jobless, carless, homeless, and pretty clueless. She decides to drive the car in her boyfriend's name out of the city to visit the half-sisters she has never met in a small farming community when her boyfriend demands she get an abortion. Her only job experience is as an intern for a fashion blog, so when she sees an add for a live in care giver she goes for it. Lucky for her, the farmer and his grandma that she will be living with start taking care of her while she is supposed to be taking care of them. When Lily and Jakob hit a frenzy of medical bills and roadblocks, the big city job her old boss offers looks pretty appealing. But never bet against the hopelessly in love farmer when it comes to HEA! Happy Reading!

A Brooding Cowboy and A Pregnant Fashionista

What a fun book to read, I so enjoyed Jakob & Lily’s story! Lily shows up in Reyfield broken-hearted and pregnant. Jakob is just minding his business, delivering milk to his customer, when Lily opens the door to Grace’s home. Their chemistry is evident from the start, steamy & sexy all rolled into a nice little package. Lily takes a job working for Jakob, as an in home caregiver to his grandma Mini. Mini has a spicy tongue and a quick wit, throwing in a bit of wisdom every now and then. She just wants to see her grandson happy and living his life again. I can’t wait to read more of this series! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys their Cowboys tall, sexy and a bit grumpy!

Immature characters make this story hard to relate to the reader. The book starts off with Lily describing how she decided to pretty much ditch her birth control with her boyfriend since she had found an engagement ring, which means it was fine for her to get pregnant... Ugh... The fact that her ex had put everything in his name (her cell, her car, her credit cards) just continues to show her immaturity.

She shows a bit of promise to be better, though, when she tries to talk to Jakob about their relationship, but this begs the question... Why didn’t she do this with her ex before getting pregnant?

Jakob seems to be a bit more responsible, but he also shows that he’s a bit jealous or immature at times.

This was a quick read, with a predictable story.

I reviewed this book as part of an arc program. I loved it, I thought Jakob a lovable grouch who stole my heart from the start. Lily was a sweet woman who found herself in a hard situation, pregnant and alone. Lily did the only thing she felt she could do, she went to her sisters, even though they never met. Jakob was a farmer who lived with his grandmother Mini, who was the only person to put him in his place. When Lily applies for the job of looking after Mini, Jakob at first doesn't want to hire her, but he does even though he is so attracted to her. This was another enjoyable book in this series, they can be read alone. Great one.

I loved this book so much. This is my first book in this series (I intend to go back and read the rest now). I loved Grandma Mini the most! Her spitfire and quick wit makes you love her. I loved Jacob and Lily's story. Jacob is minding his own business running his farm trying to keep it out of bankruptcy. Lily shows up in Reyfield pregnant and broken hearted. The chemistry between the Jacob and Lily was off the charts from the very beginning. Grandma Mini really just wants to see her grandson happy! I cannot wait to read more of this series. This is a must read! I recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I really enjoyed this book.

I love the idea of a cheery positive happy female and a grumpy male. I don't know why I like these troupes so much.

Lily is a woman who finds herself dumped, jobless and homeless......and she's pregnant. Her choices put her on the path of meeting Jakob. Getting a rise out of Jakob helps chase the bad thoughts and "now what's" away for a while and just enjoy life.

Jakob is a man who is struggling. He is in danger of loosing his farm. He also has a sick grandma. SO at first, he doesn't like Lily and her sunshine but as he gets to know her, he just might be ready to crawl out of the darkness.

5 STARS!

This is a new author to me and I obviously started this series smack dab in the middle but it didn't take away from the book at all. It's a complete standalone.

This was a quick read with sex scenes hot enough that it will have you craving a hot cowboy of your own. It really was a sweet romance though that had laugh out moments, pull your hair out moments and shedding tears moments because you feel so bad for both characters.

Will definitely read the rest of the series!

Great read!!!!

This book was so good. I really enjoyed it. Well written & light & bright. Lily is down on her luck & she has no options left than to go to her half sister's for help. Lily is alone & pregnant & has no money. She has to get a job. She answers an add for a job as a care giver for an elderly lady. The man doing the interview is none other than Jacab. Has her luck changed for the better. Thanks.

An emotional roller coaster. If you read romance at all, you will definitely want to take this story for a ride. Lot of passion, graphic love scenes, great character development, and no major snags in the editing department. The author touches on some sensitive subject matter involving pregnancies and potential complications, but she handles it with great respect that delivers a dose of reality. Kudos to Miller!

This is a great little story if you want something light to read. Who doesn't want to know what happens to the city girl Lily ,who ends you in the county and falls for a farmer called Jakob, the stand off farmer. From the beginning we know Lily is pregnant. Her boyfriend doesn't want it. It's fun watching their story unfold. Rooting for it to work out for them. Would I read anymore in the series! Probably not.

Dirty Farmer

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. A young woman who get pregnant by her boyfriend of a number of years and then finds out he doesn’t want to marry her. So she sets off to meet her step sisters and to start her life.
It’s a nice story oh how she begins her new life, meets someone and what lies ahead for her. It’s romantic, sweet, and even had me laughing in parts. 😂😂❤️❤️❤️

Jacob and Lily

Jacob and Lily are two broken people who come barreling into each others lives. Lily comes into town looking to meet her half sisters, she has left Philadelphia after finding out her longtime boyfriend wants nothing to do with her or the child she is carrying.

Good story about trust, healing, love and family. Alot of bumps and hurdles, of course, but love wins in the end.

Sweet love story

A cute love story. Jakob fell in love with Lily the moment their eyes met.
Lily came into town broken hearted from her ex . Jakob, also has past issues. Together they try and work them out.
Some angst moments, but some really fun and sweet ones too.
A great afternoon or beach read. I would definitely recommend.

Really Good Read

Digging deep to let go of the past and gaining what you want for the present and the future. Trevor turned into a royal looser. Lilly and Jakob were a believable couple. One you could root for, and glad they get a happy ending. Proofreading had a few minor glitches, there's no cheating or cliffhanger. Enjoy.
